DIMM slot problem

Hey all,.

I have a Lenovo x 201 tablet. Recently, the computer wouldn't start and understood that one of the two DIMM slots is bad (I passed the autour ram and found he could start and run if the wrong location DIMM 1 was unoccupied).

In addition to becoming a brand new motherboard, what are my options here for repair?

Thank you all

Thus, the two sticks are good? (either will work and make diagnoses at location 0)? If so, the choice is get a new motherboard or pull with 1 location. You can use a single 4GB or 8GB DIMM if it's enough

    Hello

I am trying to upgrade my 1060ea HP Envy (UK model) RAM.

The laptop has 4 GB of RAM installed at present.

I bought this laptop as a replacement of the workstation for graphics applications.

I was hooked by the laptop with the understanding that "I could upgrade to 16 GB of RAM because there are 4 DIMM slots".

    My number of portable product = VJ295EA #ABU. Card mother = 7009 36.35. System BIOS = f.2bs.

There are 4 Slots DIMM physical on the machine, two internal, two external.

The two DIMM slots internal should remove the back of my laptop, which I am not willing to do.

The two external DIMM slots are accessible by removing the laptop battery and remove the 3 screws and a small sign.

    I bought a 4GB SODIMM DDR3PC1060 module so far.

    Module Spec = 4096 MB DDR3 PC3-10700 (677 MHz).

    I don't see what follows.

    (1) if I insert the module SODIMM 4 GB in the external DIMM location nearest battery laptop, all works well.

I start the laptop and the BIOS recognizes the additional 4 GB memory and Windows 7 64 bit also recognizes additional memory of 4G. I see subsequently notified to the system memory.

    Memory 8 GB system

    1 SODIMM 4 GB 1333 MHz

    Locations 2 2GB SODIMM 1333 MHz Micron

    3 2GB SODIMM 1333 MHz Micron.

    (2) the module SODIMM 4 GB is not recognized by the BIOS or Windows 7, when I insert the plug-in 4 GB SODIMM in slot DIMM closest to the body of the laptop.

(DIMM location is under the location DIMM referred to in (1) above).

    (3) I decided to look at 3rd parties providing modules SODIMMmemory Dee if they had software to detect the number of DIMM slots on my machine. I looked at the following link. (http://www.crucial.com) and downloaded a tool to detect the number of DIMM slots on the machine.

    Here are the results:

    Type of memory: DDR3 PC3-8500, DDR3 PC3-10600, DDR3 (non - ECC)memory Maximum: 16GB Slots: 4

Each slot of memory can hold DDR3 PC3-8500, DDR3 PC3-10600, with a maximum of 4 GB per slot.* * should not exceed manufacturer supported memory

Based on the foregoing, there are 4 slots. I can see two physical external DIMMS.

I'm confused. Here are my questions.

    (1) the amount of memory I would be able to install on this HP Envy 1060eanotebook?

    (2) why the BIOS reports only 3 DIMM slots?

    (3) it's the broken BIOS?

    (4) what I need to upgrade the BIOS?

    Thank you

    Spoiler (Highlight to read)

    Hello

I bought another stick of memory of 4 GB, the same specification as described in my initial post.

If I insert only one stick in the external memory expansion slot nearest the body of the laptop module is not recognized by the BIOS.  -J' have still 4 GB of total Ram.

If I insert only one of these sticks in the other external location, it is recognized. I have 8 GB of total Ram.

If I insert both of these sticks of 4 GB memory in external memory module expansion ports, both are recognized by the BIOS I have 12 GB of total RAM.

Strange behavior, but that's what I see.

In any case, I took the chance, bought two sticks, open the laptop & replaced the two sticks of 2 GB internal memory with the new 4 GB 4 GB sticks of memory.

I now have a 1060ea HP Envy with 16 GB of Ram seen by the BIOS, Windows7 and Linux and 2 spare 2 GB sticks.

    Thanks for your response anyway.

    Problem solved.

  • Satellite P10 and so-DIMM DDR400 problem

(First, hi to all and sorry for my BAD English: o)

Given that I have install my new memory DDR400 (Corsair Value Select VS512DS400 x 2) in My P10, problems occur: error in windows, Crc in files compressed, etc... I try with my old DDR333: no problem.

Give it a try with a friend of mine who have the same P10:
    exactly the same error

I do some research, and I found a possibility:
I see in the technical data sheet for DDR400 (and all the DDR400 SO-DIMMs are like that) the required voltage is 2.6 volts.
And for the DDR333 needs only 2.5 Volts.

I want to know (or confirm) if DAL00 motherboard which is inserted into the series P10 (I use 1.90v bios) can proceed to 2, 6V?

It was very strange because I use CPU - Z to determine how fast is used for DDR400, bios seems to determine the correct speed for DDR400 (200 Mhz) and pass the FSB ratio to 1:1, Arf! good for this point! : o).

The first time I saw the DDR333 memory in the Toshiba
with a 3.0HT processor (which use bus 800 Mhz Quadpumped)
    I was very surprised! : o).
Eheh, Toshiba engineers maybe had same problems when
they used the DDR400 on it?

Can you help me for this technical problem?

    Best regards, Ray

    Hi Ray

In your case is problem BIOS don't recognize new RAM module. It's very nice that you are interesting about this problem, but this kind of question can be answered simply by an engineer or expert, and it will not solve your problem.
Always is it that you need RAM DDR SODIMM (333 MHZ). The best solution for your unit is to buy one of these three modules:

    256 MB (PA3311U - 1 M 25)
    512 MB (PA3312U - 1 M 51)
    1024MB (PA3313U-1M1G).

    Good luck!

  • Tecra 8100: memory slot problems

    I have a model tecra 8100 not: PT810L 12 c 42.

I had problem with slot B mem, so collapsed to use it. Then I upgraded my RAM and inserted a 128 Mb TOSHIBA THLY6416G1FG-80 RAM PC100-222-620 slot A and used for a month. Then he suddenly went dead one day and did not boot at all.

I took it to the point of service, they found somehow it work by sticking a piece of paper btw Aries and the cover. I used another week with ram cover duck taped it. Same story, then dead in the middle of winXP, switched off and no boot again. It took to the same service point, they tried some other RAM chipsets that it refused to start.

The interesting thing is; When they inserted a faulty RAM in slot A and non-use slot B we get the message "memory incompatible chipset" on the screen. With the RAM mentioned above in the slot B (problem as always) and the A we get nothing, just a blank screen, DVD slot starts green lit, but nothing.

WHAT SHOULD I DO, PLS HELP

What is the RAM causing problems? What must a chipset that is exactly compatible with the model no pls?
Is it the two locations of memory A or B, their change could solve the problem?

This is the machine he itself, must it be thrown away?

    ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE

    Hello

I n know where you tried to upgrade the memory but as Lisa suggested this was not a serious technician. I changed and upgraded memory on multiple PCs, and you must use 100% compatible modules! You shouldn't t install the modules with a brute force or use strange things as a communication between the housing and the memory module.
Possible slots are damage due to use this procedure. But I hope you're a lucky man and everything will work correctly.

If you n t know which modules are right and taken in charge so you should contact the service partner authorized Toshiba for the right and the upgrade modules.

    Good luck

  • Memory slot problem

Hi, I have a problem with 0768-FMG. I bought a new memory, but it only works in the slot of the 'first '. If I put something into the slot of the 'second' (the old memory or another), it does not even start. Could I do something wrong, or should I just send it to the service, as usual?

sounds like a bad memory, you always had guaranteed right, call Lenovo and ask to look at for you, could be the fault with the motherboard.

  • Digital Photo frame df820 CF slot problem card

My elderly mother tried to insert a compact flash card and slipped it in the lower part of the slot instead of the top. So I pushed maybe thinking he has been activated in the spring and would come back when pushed on, this pushed the map completely to the rear of the chassis. How to get out? The chassis still work with an SD card.

This must be done quite often, due to the design of the card slot.

The card was completely inside the lower slot, could not use pliers with tapered beak, or no matter what small tools. Band does not work either, maybe until I pushed him into thinking he would be born out as he out of my camera, but the map was too deep.

We solve the problem by removing the six screws and open the case, but it's scary to have something to do. Luckily, he didn't hurt. CF card is removed and the chassis works very well.

But I don't see this as a design flaw. It is a wonderful gift for people older members of the family, but it is too easy to get a CF card that is lost in this niche. Old eyes is not what they should be. Certainly, a bit more plastic to separate the CF and microdrive slot would not that expensive.

    Hi Ali,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I suggest contacting the manufacturer if there are updates for the BIOS and drivers from the chipset is available for the device and update the same thing. If the problem persists, then contact the manufacturer to improve the support that it's a hardware problem.

  • Thinkpad R60 ram slot problem

    Hello

I have 2 x 1 GB (same type) and 1x512mo (another manufacturer) ram sticks. With all the seperatelly put into the lower slot laptop works very well. If I put in 2x1gb I get 4 beeps and no boot, if I put 1 gb + 512 mb, I get a black screen with no beeps. If I put no stick in the top slot I get 4 beeps. If I don't put no Rams I get 1-3-3-1. I tried to apply pressure on the slot - even 4 beeps with 2x1GB. I use the latest version of the bios with the default settings.

Looks like the top slot is defective. Is it possible to fix it? Thank you.

You may need to get a new motherboard. It is the only way to fix it. Perhaps check on ebay or forum.thinkpads.com.

Also check that there is no dust in the upper ram slot.

  • memory card slot problems

The memory card slot reads 'no photos on memory card' when it is inserted into the slot... He used to work very well... it just started it a month or two it y a. I have a HP psc 2175 all-in-one printer. Is - fixable? Thank you

    Have you tried another card?

If the card used to work have tried in any other device to see if it will read it?

If you buy another card SD Please note

New memory cards are SD HC card, if they are greater than 2 GB.

This printer will not read SD HC, that they were not avalible when this printer was designed originally.

The printer will show 1 GB and 2 GB cards very well that these are not the high capacity cards, there are some 4 GB not HC cards around, but they are very rare.

Sorry it's a physical restraint of an older printer.

  • How the Pavilion HPE-150 t has 6 GB of RAM with 3 DIMM slots

Check the specifications for the Pavilion HPE-150 t, I see that HP currently offers a free upgrade to 6 GB of RAM (from 4 GB.) What I don't understand is that these 6 GB of RAM are provided in 3 DIMMs.

The only setting I can think of that allows two-channel with 3 DIMMs mode in this situation is to have a pair of 1.5 GB DIMMS in channel A and a single 3 GB DIMM in channel B.

However, AFAIK, DIMM is not sold in one of these densities (1.5 GB and 3 GB.)

Can someone explain this for me, please?

As far as I know, HP is not the "Dual-channel" advertising - they simply offer amount:

    http://www.shopping.HP.com/series/category/desktops/HPE150t_series/3/computer_store?JumpID=reg_R1002_USEN

FREE UPDATE! 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz SDRAM [3 DIMMS] from 4 GB

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01976259

It is highly unlikely HP POP just in an extra 2 GB DIMMS.

The only way you can get dual channel of this mobo is to fill the memory DDR3 DIMM 2 and 4 or all 4 DIMM with the same type and density.
