duration of the Remote Assistance invitation

How long does invitation changed for windows vista? Is it the same thing for windows xp?

Hello

To set the maximum lead time that Windows Remote Assistance invitations can remain open, follow these steps on the computer that you want someone to connect to:

a. click the Start button and then click Control Panel.

b. click System and Maintenance and then click System.

c. click Remote settings.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

d. Select the connections to allow Assistance remotely to this computer check box.

e. click Advanced and then auctions, select time in both lists.

  • Error message "a program could not start. Please try again"when I try to send Remote Assistance invitation.

original title: Remote Assistance does not work

    Win XP PRO SP3

    Question #1:

When you try to send an invitation to support remote I get an error message "a program could not start. Please try again. »

This error pops up before even the invitation is created, so the problem is with the creation of the invitation and not with problems of subsequent connection between the computers. The invitation is never created. This happens on several computers I own or maintain.

The event log records all errors when this happens.

I searched for hours all over the Internet and a lot of people seem to have this problem. Some it is resolved, for the most part, they needed to start a service, but the cause of their problem is not the same as mine.

After restarting the computer, sometimes the invitation creation works fine.

Other DIY suggests when the problem appears it can be corrected by running the command 'sessmgr-service' in a command line window. After executing this line it seems that the problem is resolved.

What I find disconcerting is that Sessmgr.exe is the service Remote Desktop Help Session Manager that was already running, but for some unknown reason runs this line made work again right. I'll have to experiment more.

Is it possible to debug and fix this?

    Question #2:

When I can finally send an invitation it will work on the local network but not on the Internet. I can't connect to the Internet.

I'm looking at the structure and the content of the invitation to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc240167(v=prot.10).aspx
In the example given here, as in the generated invitations in my experiences, the invitation contains only the LAN IP addresses (with port number) but no global address.
    RCTICKET =... 192.168.1.65:3389; Jeff: 3389

How the computer expert is supposed to understand the global address to which it should connect is a mystery to me.

How can I get Remote Assistance to work on the Internet?

    Hello

The issue of Windows XP, you have posted is better suited for the IT Pro TechNet public. Please ask your question in the TechNet forums for assistance.

    Hope the helps of information.

  • I am trying to accept an invitation from my mom's remote assistance and this is what I got after entering the password: connect Remote Assistance could not be established because the DNS name of the remote computer cannot be resolved.

I am trying to accept an invitation from my mom's remote assistance and this is what I got after entering the password: connect Remote Assistance could not be established because the DNS name of the remote computer cannot be resolved.

You get the error "a Remote Assistance connection could not be established because the DNS name of the remote computer could not be resolved" when the requesting computer (the computer 'demand' help) sends its private IP address instead of its public IP address in the request for assistance. The solution is 'easy' for some and difficult for others. I present here for your perusal:

    (1) obtain the public IP address of the requesting computer (by visiting a web page such as http://www.whatismyip.com)
    (2) save the remote assistance request computers
    (3) modify the remote request for Assistance (RcBuddy.MsRcIncident) using a text editor (such as notepad) and replace the private - section of IP address should be something like this:
    RCTICKET = 65538,1,192.168.1.33:3389 «»
with the public IP address from whatismyip.com or elsewhere - should be something like this:
    RCTICKET = 65538,1,74.125.47.147:3389 «»
    (4) save the file of RcBuddy.MsRcIncident 'new '.
    (5) double click it to connect to the computer needing help
    (6) cross your fingers and hope it works!

I hope this helps someone else - if it's too much trouble, feel free to use the tools mentioned elsewhere in this thread.

  • Remote assistance - manage the support network?

    Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit

I would use the Windows Remote Assistance as a support tool for every computer on our network (about 400). From now on, I came with the addition of a newspaper in the execution of the script:

    Password MSRA /saveasfile "x:\%username%".
In return, the Logout script deletes the file.
That means to me, is to create a Windows Remote Assistance invitation file in a network location, that I can navigate, see what users are connected and it must be the register of the location of the computers (IP/ComputerName). Makes things much easier for me to connect to users and makes it easier for the user. Less user by connecting the best assistance. My goal is to connect to the system without the user having to do anything. From now on, I have to their market through me enter the name of the computer, so I can type in Windows Remote Assistance.
My question here is what pops up a window like this:
My question is: is it possible to get this to start quietly in the background or minimized in the Notification area?
Also: I'm more then happy to have answers with the best means to achieve my goal.

  • How can I get the Easy Connect feature in Windows Remote Assistance to work?

I am using the Easy Connect feature in Windows Remote Assistance and he tells me that he 'could not connect on the peer-to-peer network. Both computers are running Windows 7, but I don't even get the chance to say even the computer that I want to. I'm not on a corporate network and the Easy Connect function works fine on three other computers on my home network, including two run Home Premium and other professionals, so it may not be a problem with my router. My computer works professional. I tried to use it on wireless and wired. My computer, as well as others, I tried it on, use Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Firewall. Among the computers on which I tried it as well as mine works µTorrent. All computers run Fomine NetSent GUI. Two of the other computers I've tried on and my own running LogMeIn. I checked the Remote Assistance settings on my computer and it is allowed. I don't know what else might be able to do this!

  • Request for remote assistance does not work anymore

Something has changed for Windows Live Messenger Remote Assistance?... or is something broken?

Previously, we could "request remote assistance" back AND forth between two systems of Windows XP (SP3) - with a XP using MSN Messenger system (Version 7.0 [Build 7.0.0816]) and the other using Windows Live Messenger (Version 2009 [Build 14.0.8117.416]).

And, previously, we could also request remote assistance in both directions between a Windows XP (SP3) by using MSN Messenger system (Version 7.0 [Build 7.0.0816]) and a system of Windows 7 (SP1) by using Windows Live Messenger (Version 2009 [Build 14.0.8117.416]).

Now, none of these work for remote assistance request.  When the author of the request, click on "Ask the Remote Assistance", they get the message:

"You have invited [so-and-so] to start Remote Assistance.  Please wait for a response or cancel the invitation. »

In each of the above scenarios, the query end targeted computer sees nothing in their window of messenger!  (However, it worked only a few months ago, when we finally used successfully.)

    Respectfully, Paul D.

The Vice President of the Windows Live responded kindly and this is discussed in it.  I'm sure that everyone who meets this problem is grateful that she's wanted to and I hope a resolution is to be published soon.  Thanks to this Vice President!  (I won't mention names, he knows who he is and he should be credited with showing concern about this problem and its intentions for have solved it more quickly.)  It's nice to see in a large company like Microsoft.  Congratulations!)

  • My computer could have been hacked by Microsoft Technician via remote assistance?

Last week I contact Microsoft support about a problem that I had and the technician said it needs access to my computer by the remote assistant in order to solve the problem.  I asked if he could direct me and let do me it myself but he said no, it must be connected by remote assistance.  As he'd download it told me it would take a while and he could not stay on the phone with me because he could help other customers in the meantime and said he'd call me when the download is complete.  He did call back me and was able to solve my problem.

However shortly after my computer has been hacked and I am wondering if it is just a coincidence or could it have downloaded information from my computer.  Should I have allowed him access to remote assistance.  I am very worried.

    Your help would be appreciated

  • Windows 7 remote assistance displays garbled desktop

I'm trying to connect to the asus laptop of my mother to help her, but each time, remote assistance is used, the his office appears in monochrome color and is coded/biased. This is not a problem of the internet, because the connection is through our internet and home network is not used to establish the connection. Between the two laptops Remote Desktop works fine, not display problems what so ever. so I don't think that it is a configuration issue with the router or other system. Unfortunately we have only two systems win7 (my laptop and my mums), so test it with a third windows 7 PC is not possible. I'll try to connect using my XP Pro desktop computer, but I expect that it does not at all due to differences in OS version.  my moms laptop has some kind of custom AMD/ATI discrete video card that is not able to use AMD drivers, so im not able to upgrade to the latest version of the drivers on his cell phone. My laptop has, however, the last driver from NVidia (314.22) package because it is the video card.

Yet once again, this problem is NOT with Remote Desktop, which works very well between our two PC.

This is NOT a connection problem. I am able to connect to his PC, very well.

The question is when his office is shown through the Windows remote assistance program.

I have already run all the troubleshooters there, who have found NOTHING of EVIL.

the remote assistance connection is made using easy connect through our home network.

Remote assistance does not display a desktop computer that has a resolution of 1366 x 768 correctly in Windows 7

I tried this fix and it works very well for my Windows 7 Home Edition basic with a resolution of 1366 x 768 as the server end (from where the remote assistance request is created). Now the display of remote assistance is more blurred.

Keep in mind that if the person seeking assistance uses a router (instead of connecting directly to the modem), then you will need to redirect port configuration.  The request when she sends uses the IP address of his computer, but that the IP is not always accessible to the public.  For example, IP address of my PC is 192.168.0.4 (the 4th computer on my network at the present time), and this address cannot be used to connect to my PC.  You know my public IP address, so, I need the configuration of port forwarding to direct your incoming connection to my public address during my internal IP address (called traversal NAT, or network address translation).

There is a reason, I generally recommend free tools that use HTTP transport instead, like Team Viewer app free (for personal use).

The question in short is - IS it SAFE TO ALLOW a COMPANY (I HAVE NEVER TREATY WITH) ACCESS to MY PC BY the DISTANCE FOR INSTALLER WINDOWS 7 SUPPORT?
