DVD RW drive not responding is not Windows 7

When I insert a disc into my drive drawer DVD RW my Windows 7 system does not. Nothing happens. I can eject the disc manually, but if I try to eject the disk by clicking on the icon of the DVD RW drive it 'hangs' with a message "do not answer." I have not used my DVD RW in over a year, and before that it was operating normally. Device Manager says "this device is working properly" and "driver software is up-to-date." I'm puzzled! Any help / suggestions would be appreciated.

Don't forget that the failure of the CD/DVD devices is one of the most common things that happen to the PC.  This is especially likely if your PC is say 5 years or so old.

If yours is a desktop PC, the replacement is easy and inexpensive.  Usually about $20 to buy the replacement.  Stop, cut the power, hold the switch for 7 seconds or longer.  Place the computer on this side with the side where all taken down.  Remove the side panel.  Remove the 2 screws that hold the drive in place.  Remove the two plugs at the rear of the car.  In some cases, you may need to remove the front panel to slide out.  Do this carefully so that you do not interrupt one of the small carriers off the coast.   Reverse the procedure for a new.

If yours is a portable PC, replacing physically isn't difficult.  Usually a screw.  But it is a patented device that is different for each laptop.  Find one could be a problem and your only likely source will be OEM.  Price will be high.  Probably like $100 or more.  A great alternative is an external drive that connects via USB.  Can be used in any PC.  Cost about $25.

  • External CD/DVD RW drive not recognized by Windows XP

Original title: Professional. Have an advantage humbucker 16 X 8 DVD/CD RW & ATi Radeon 9550 AGP 250 M for video and VGA that is not recognized

Have a double microphone 16 X 8 DVD/CD RW advantage which is not recognized by XP Professional.  Also have a CD unit and when windows installs the drivers - it gives them both the same driver.  DVD RW is only recognized as a CD! Have used Microsoft fixit and he says everything is fine. -It uses the same driver for CD and DVD RW units.

Have also an ATi Radeon 9550 AGP 250 M for the video and VGA and Windows XP does not - have question marks for them in Device Manager.  Microsoft fixit - did fix this problem.

Have deleted the drivers and tried to control the computer for downloads by Microsoft and it can't find them - if I do a check for hardware changes, he finds only those who do not work properly and that don't work at all, as indicated above.

Also went on the Microsoft Web site and cannot find a solution it - clicked on links with any help that I could see.

    Hello

To work around this problem in Microsoft Windows XP, follow these steps:

Note: Serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756

Step 1: Remove the registry entries modified. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. Click Start, click Run, type regedit and then click OK.

    (b) in the navigation pane, search for, and then click the following registry subkey:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    (c) in the right pane, click UpperFilters.

    d. in the Edit menu, click on delete.

    e. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.

    g. in the Edit menu, click on delete.

    h. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.

    i. exit the registry editor.

    j. restart the computer.

Note: If you notice a loss of functionality in a particular program as in the CD recording software after you remove registry UpperFilters and LowerFilters values, reinstall this software. If this problem continues, contact the supplier of software to help.

Step 2: Remove the existing drivers. To do this, follow these steps:

I know that the drive is compatible, because in the past, I ran these discs very on my computer. I tried the blank CD, DVD, bought CD + DVD, burned CD + DVD and they all produce the same result: nothing happens. When I right click on my drive and select the option 'Explorer', an empty window temporarily opens and closes. When I double-click on the drive, nothing happens. What seems to be a particular thing about my situation, is that when I try and restart my computer the problem persists, however when I turned my computer off and then turn it back on the player sometimes will work for a short period before the previous problem back to the top.

    Help would be VERY appreciated.

Thanks for your time, but I realized that the problem was with a program that I recently installed. I ended up uninstalling and then by removing any trace of her that I could find on my computer. After restarting, my CD/DVD drive appear to have begun to function properly again and I don't run in my previous problem again so far. Once again, thank you for taking the time to try to help me. The effort is appreciated.

  • DVD/cd drive not detected

The device cd/dvd drive does not show in my computer or Device Manager.   HP Pavilion dv9500 laptop.  I know that the camera is good, as I tried in another HP Pavilion laptop and everything was good.  I tried the the high/low filters registry fix surprised but only shows not always.   Any help?

    Hello

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and

    Hello

It will be interesting to know if this happens with all data media you use.

In my opinion you must first locate the source of this problem. Check if your DVD - RAM drive works correctly using different CD, DVD and DVD - RAM of course. If Yes, in this case it is a problem specific, based on the game CD.
