E3000 Advanced routing

I spent hours with support only to discover that the company will not support routing advanced on the E3000 even if I take my servers out of the equation.

I have ATT Uverse VDSL and a public 5 IP block. I have 3 Web server behind the e3000 and I want to route the http request based on the IP that made the request.

The offer to pay a Cisco partner to support their product was sitting well with me.

You do not have a subnet IP full routed to you. You can't move your LAN to public IP addresses. You can use only a single public IP address.

    Firmware 1.01.36 build 4 The WRT600N is connected to an existing LAN and is really only used as a Wireless N access point. There is nothing plugged into the WAN port; only the LAN port. I have NAT disabled. All traffic from a client connected to the WRT600N wireless going very well for the gateway and the Internet router. The customer experience is very good. However, there are a few minor issues as follows.

I ping the gateway 192.168.1.4 port inside, but I can't use the diagnostic the WRT600N ping ping utility something beyond this gateway port. The routing of the WRT600N table is below. THE GATEWAY SHOULD NOT BE 192/168.1.4? HOWEVER THE WRT600N DON'T ME LETS NOT CHANGE IT.

    Topic 1. Linksys, used to have a mode option to switch between the modes 'Bridge' and 'router '. The latest routers call it now better NAT power. Gateway mode means THAT NAT is enabled. Router mode means THAT NAT is disabled. The help files are probably a little bit over. But the option is still the same.

    Re 2. It's normal if you use it as only access point (i.e. do not use the WAN port). The router always takes into account that the internet connection via the WAN port, i.e. it will always use the default gateway on the WAN port. If nothing is connected to the WAN port on the router itself has no default gateway and therefore has no access to the internet. Generally, you are not able to establish the default route in either advanced routing page. It is a known limit of these routers if you do not use as a router.

    I noticed a strange what IP listed in my Advanced Routing Table, under address LAN IP of Destination:

    I can't quite understand why that particular number is listed, any ideas? All other IP I recognize as part of my home network. Is this 10.32.156.1 is part of the Verizon network?

    BillF, your routing table is completely different. You do not have a private as default gateway IP address nor the 255.255.255.255 mask subnet.

    ArconomX, you have a PPPoE connection.10.32.156.1 is the IP address of the device to provide to which you are connected to using PPPoE. As it is a tunnel of point to point (PPP) the other end has only a single IP address and the subnet mask 255.255.255.255. Thus, what you see, is quite right, except maybe it would be nicer if it was hidden from the specified routing table. This is a normal path, that you will see on computers when connected to a PPP tunnel... Nothing to worry about.

    I'm unable to create static routes through my Linksys E1700 (v1, f/w 1.0.02 Rev. I get errors on all roads, I try to enter. I receive a complaint that is not part of an IP address in the range 1-233 or I get the "Road of Invalid" error message when trying to save the road.

    Can someone show what restrictions are applied on the input static routes?

    Access to a DSL modem to which the router is attached is what I want to achieve. This means I have assigned the modem to an IP address that is not on the local network and the need for the router to pass this address via the WAN port, but not at the gateway of the ISP.

    Something along the lines of:

    Local address of the router and the IP address range used by DHCP from the router: 192.168.0.0/24

    Local address of the ADSL modem: 192.168.1.1/24

    I want the route: 192.168.1.1/32 via WLAN interface with gateway 0.0.0.0

    Any ideas why the router does not allow me to do this?

    Also, if I could get any type of road through the WLAN E1700 interface I could affect my modem must match (as long as it is not an IP address, I need to use :-)) but I was not able to set up a road to the WLAN interface with gateway 0.0.0.0.

    Unfortunately, the service VLAN on the routers of the series E is only for specialized ISP configurations and should not be confused with abilities VLAN typical.

    In most routers grade consumer the LAN\Switch Ports is a layer2 managed switch. Some such as OpenWRT and DD - WRT firmwares have the ability to independently assign tags VLAN to the LAN Ports. The switch may have that a single IP address assigned.

    I do not understand this correctly, that's all this so you can access the Modem since the E1700 LAN? So then try to configure the Modem in Bridge mode and configure the E1700 with the PPPoe ISP connection. Then the LAN E1700 you should be able to ping the Modem at the address 192.168.0.1, assuming that the E1700 router IP address is 192.168.1.1 subnet 255.255.255.0.

  • Static routing LRT214 does not

    I have a hard time with a static routing on LRT214.

    My configuration:

    * LRT214 (recently purchased), acting as a gateway to the internet, local subnet is 192.168.28.0/24

    * There is a local VPN (192.168.28.98) server on the local network, serving a LAN tunnel with subnet 192.168.29.0/24. on LRT214 port forwarding is configured

    I can connect to my VPN server on the internet, and I can access the machine running on the VPN server (for example via ssh).

    However, I can not connect to any other computer on my LAN, although I tried

    adding another subnet under Configuration > network > LAN settings

    * setting up a static route under Setup > Advanced Routing (kind of route add - net 192.168.29.0/24 gw 192.168.28.98)

    of course, when I add the itinerary of statitc over any computer on the local network, I can connect via VPN tunnel to the machine, so its clearly a problem of LRT214.

    Please help, how can I configure a static route for this scenario in the user Web interface?

    As far as I understand, it could be that when the VPN server sends data to another machine on the local network, this happens on layer 2 (where the SPI Firewall not listening), while the return on the VPN server traffic is routed higher up in the stack, where the SPI listening and intercept.

    So, I will use the above workarounds, or put the OpenVPN server on a different subnet or VLAN, which I do anyway. I tried a basic configuration of VLAN yesterday (just put the Server full VPN with all interfaces in one VLAN separated), with InterVLAN routing enabled, but there seems to be some particularities with it (like the ping works, but not ssh). In any case, it's another story. Thanks for you support.

  • E3000 with the same problems on & more here, but no expert solution for the 2 main problems

    1 - with regard to support USB connected hard drives that will not transfer data & like to come & go quite often of the view.

    Everything seems like a joke to me, when I read that a lot of people have hard drives USB who worked for a year, & when it stops working or acts upward, we all have a test to see if it connects & works very well on our other connections PC/Laptop & the only advice given, this firmware is upgraded or a list of hard drives that have been tested and work on the E3000.

    2nd - my other problem is that my E3000 now decides of its own to disconnect wireless & cable Communication and then reconnect alone, whenever you feel.

    What makes angry of this problem is that it is abundant in the Forums & I tried all the fixes, but I still have the same problem & sound as good as this device of 2 year, Max is grilled.  As is the case when there is a loose connection that overheated, in what thread or welded metal move when heat is added & move at the time where the heat is removed.

    PROBLEM:

    My touch 1 Maxtor (from the approved list) is connected and playing now you see me & now you don't game.  If I ever try to import or to export any image file or music, the Communication goes & then sometimes will return its own. Working with Game Consoles, when something begins to work intermittently, then it is a hardware problem or software with the device.  It is not a user error, when it worked fine before.

    SOLUTION?:  This is why we are all here. Thanks to a landmark of expert for the same problem that many of us have?

    How about this solution. Why not let all E3000 owners send there wireless routers is not working towards a credit for a new operating model nice. I think that we would all save a lot of headaches & get rid of 25% of all calls for help on this forum.

Please give us/me expert advice on how to solve the problem.  If nobody knows the answer, then Cisco/Linksys looks really bad for selling a router high of $$$, being touted for the games and files sharing multimedia home & it only at this stage.  If it should be recalled, will bring up by all means, or come up with a fully functional firmware.

    Thanks again & hope to hear news good & productive, cause I am so tired of playing with this E3000 & will more than likely stay away from your product for any & all future purchases, no matter where you are ranked (E3000 was 3rd & best prices of the top 3 when I bought it).

    Well, I'm here, not having heard an assumption about my problem, but to get an opinion of experts & solution to my problem, but also all other users of the same or very similar problems.

    I am now a HAPPY 'Belkin N600 DB' owner for only $79.99 @ Wal-Mart/Radio Shack. This new does much more than the Cisco E3000 wireless router & even changed my Modem 100 MB (green) flow out of 1000 GB (Amber Light).

    So, so HAPPY now!

  • Linksys E3000 - connectivity - can't access Admin setup, etc.

    I had some connectivity issues. I have Cox and a cable modem connected to an E3000 wireless router. Both wireless and direct connections are normally working on my Windows XP computer.

    This morning there was no internet connectivityt. I decided to try to access my router admin page. I couldn't get him. I'm positive, I entered the correct DNS number because it works now. I even turned off wireless to make sure she's trying to connect by ethernet b/c admin wireless access is disabled. This is my main question. What possible reason could I login on my admin page. The router is o. It is plugged it. I even restarted and I still couldn't connect to it? I did an ipconfig/release and / renew and which did not.

(In other words, as soon as I open my browser, my google.com homepage says the same thing... without connecttivity. Ok. So, I'm trying to update... It says the same thing. Ok. Then I try another link. It works now. I try google again. It works now. I repeat again and again close and reopen my browser and it's like he's not only the first page you are trying to open.)

    But, I digress. It's the router. So I set about how it was - Internet through the router to the computer. Now, magically, it works, and I can access the Web page and admin?

    So, why couldn't access my router page before. Cox is this coming Tuesday? Does this sound like something is wrong on their end or is it the router.

    Yes. I tried everything but now the buttong reset for 30 seconds. Instead, I just unplugged. Nevertheless, there is STILL NO REASON I wouldn't be able to connect to my router a minute and the next minute I can?     I just installed a new E3000 wireless router and it works fine.

  • Browser access to E3000

    I have a Linksys E3000 wireless router. It works fine, but I want to see its settings. When I was with my old XP machine, I could connect to my router using Firefox to http://192.168.0.1 and see or change the settings, I've wanted to. Then I got a new desktop computer with Windows 7 64-bit (no wi - fi on it). I withdrew my old XP machine. I don't have reinstall my Cisco s/w. My wireless router still works fine. But I can't have my E3000 via my browser (Firefox) using this IP address. All I get is the message to reset the connection.

    My E3000 is configured as an access point. I have other wireless devices, connection, but not my new machine W7. My network is configured as network, Internet access type.  I use Trend Micro Titanium.

    How can I connect to my router now that I'm on W7 64-bit?

    If you opened to the top of the router configuration page when connecting the computer with BEFSR81 router
    If this is the case then connect the computer on the E3000 router. Check the IP address and default gateway, then try to open the configuration page of the router with the default gateway...

    You don't need to change the settings under advanced routing that you use the type of LAN to LAN connection.

  • As a simple router WRT610N

    Hi all...

    I just installed a new WRT610N to replace my old router + access point who died days ago.

    The Setup is simple enough:

    WAN interface with address static 192.168.0.2/24 GW 192.168.0.1 (my main firewall)

    LAN interface with 192.168.10.0/24 static address, DHCP enabled to assign addresses to 192.168.10.100 to 192.168.10.199

    Everything works from a computer connected to the WRT610N LAN subnet (wired or wireless)... I can ping 192.168.10 *, * 192.168.0, 192.168.2 * (the subnet connected to the firewall DMZ) and internet connection (also through the firewall) works as expected.

    But from a computer on the network * 192.168.0 (the subnet on which the WAN WRT610 interface is connector), there is no way to reach the machines that are on the LAN subnet. I created a static route in the main firewall, and to be sure, I also tried with a static route on a computer that is connected to the subnet 192.168.0 * (route add 192.168.10.0 mask 255.255.255.0 Gateway 192.168.0.2)... no way.

    SPI Firewall is disabled and also each of the filters.

    What I am doing wrong?

    Your router should still active NAT. With NAT, the router only translation of IP addresses between the address LAN IP addresses as well as the WAN IP address. Because of this, the LAN is inaccessible. That's how any consumer type router protects the LAN from the internet.

    You must disable NAT. It is usually on the Advanced Routing page. It is call "NAT" or "Mode of operation".

    Bridge mode = active NAT.
    Router mode = disabled NAT.

    If you have configured the correct static route on your firewall, it should work then...

    Make sure that your firewall then, provides NAT for the subnet WRT. With disabled NAT IP addresses * 192.168.10 will get to the firewall. If your firewall is not configured to do NAT for 192.168.10. * He'll send those not changed in the internet where they will be discontinued.

    Of course, if you want a full interconnectivity between WRT LAN and WAN side then you should consider setting up as plain simple access point connecting it via a LAN port to your existing LAN. That would save all routing and NAT problems...

    I already posted a messageasking if the WRT600N could be wireless connected w / my new WRT610N. The answer I got was no, I had to wire up together. Well, fair enough - it's been a long shot. The person who answered referenced this set of instructions, I've read before, when I linked the WRT350N w / my previous 600N (cable).

    The problem now is that in these instructions, when he says to go the the "advanced routing" page and change the mode in the drop-down list of 'Gateway' to 'Router', the WRT600N does not have a drop down box - all there is "NAT", radio buttons marked "enable" or "disable." (I tried to insert a picture of the page, but cannot find a way to do that here.) Even the little "help...". "link out side says that there should be a drop-down list box, but there is not.

    I guess I should I put 'NAT' to people with disabilities, that would achieve the same thng than to change the 'Gateway' to 'Router' mode, but I wanted to check here first and see what the official word. So should I set 'NAT' to disable to move my 600N mode to the "router"?

    Thank you! This is good info to have. And looking at the "Advanced Routing" instructions, I notice now that they have dynamic RIP (Routing) active, but the "yellow flag" instructions don't say nothing about it, so I didn't change the disabled. The dangers to do these things later in nite!

    You are using a router other than WAG200G modem or wireless... If Yes, then, that connect to the WAG200 on the Ethernet Port (LAN)... Open the WAG and the sub-tab advanced routing configuration page, disable "NAT" and activate "RIPPER" and click on save settings... Also on the Configuration tab, change the IP address of the router from 192.168.1.1 to the range of the main modem/router... For example if the main router/modem ip address is 192.168.1.1, then change the ip address of the linksys WAG on 192.168.1.2 and click on save settings.

  • Two router network installation

    I have two routers in my network, a Linksys WCG200 cable wireless router, and a router wireless broadband Linksys WRT54G3G-ST.  The latter is used in my motorhome in addition to providing backup/failover of the loss of cable service.  I want to configure them so (1) all the workstations can see the entire network no matter what router, they are connected, and (2) the cabability wireless on both routers must be active.  It would be preferred that the broadband router could be disconnected and the motorhome without reconfiguration - laptops that connect through the router might as well in the office and in the motorhome.

    The cable modem has a static IP wireless network printer configured in addition two VoIP adapters (both are DHCP).  I wish that they would continue to function normally when the router broadband is removed from the network (in collaboration with laptops).

    I tried the two routers in subnets in separate subnets, but cannot determine how to make all visible devices - the WRT54G3G-ST's advanced routing capabilities, but I have not determined a framework that will achieve the objectives.

    If anyone can help to direct me to a path to the solution, I would appreciate it a lot.

    Gandalf, thanks.  Both answers confirm that Linksys routers do not interconnect two subnets of a network, for this, the most advanced routers are necessary.

    If the static route will not save in the routing table, it is possible, you have a defective unit.  If you add to the list and save it on the bottom of the screen and it will not be displayed on the routing table, then you need call the HWC to 1866-606-1866 and let them take a look at the router.
