error 0xc00000e9

A few days ago I restarted my PC, and this error came: error 0xc00000e9

A recent change in hardware or software may be the result of this (or something like that).

I tried to do a system recovery disk, but that doesn't seem to work because my BIOS does not detect my CD drive, and my laptop did not come with a Windows Vista DVD. I also checked my usb readers there is nothing connected to them.

In addition, windows do not seem to want to start in safe mode. It's a laptop gateway that I'm back in ' 07.

A few days ago I restarted my PC, and this error came: error 0xc00000e9

  • I have error 0xc00000e9; says that my registry is "corrupt or missing".

I have error 0xc00000e9 occurring, telling me that my registry is considered to be "corrupt or missing".  Neosmart Vista disk recovery, while it has been useful, can't solve the problem of registry. Back story: I believe when the computer flopped on its side (falling to about 6 inches) for the carpet, he dislodges the HD a little. (the computer was in "sleep" mode).  I've repositioned the HD, ran to the computer and that's where the error occurred initially. As I said, I ran the Neosmart disk. While he does some repairs (partition and MBR), I still get the same error code. I can back up the drive by enslavement, but I can not boot from this drive.

    Hello

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Communities.

Step 1: First of all, you can try to disconnect all external devices (printers, scanner, USB drives, etc.) except the keyboard and mouse and then try to start.

If this solves the problem, then add back devices at a time until you discover the piece of hardware causing the issue. Then get any drivers\software update for the device.

Step 2: You can try a Startup Repair boot from the full version of Vista disk and check if you can solve the problem.

    1. Insert the installation disc.

    2. After inserting the disk to restart the computer. If you are prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.

Note: If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer. You may need to change your computer's BIOS settings. For more information, see BIOS: frequently asked questions.

Follow these recommended steps and after if you still experience the problem.

    Hello

Can you please tell us what exactly happens when you start your laptop?

There is obviously a problem in common between the hardware connected to the motherboard. It may be the HARD drive. Of course, it is not easy to say what exactly is the problem.

If there is no problem for you to install OS again once I recommend you set the BIOS to default settings and install original OS that you got with your laptop. It's simple and the best method to check the operation of the equipment with the factory settings.

If this will not help, I assume that there is a serious hardware problem.

    Hi helpthislady,

Sometimes, this error indicates that the hard drive may be failing.  Perform the following steps to check the integrity of your hard drive. If you are unable to access the Advanced Boot Option menu by using the F8 key, you will need to get a CD of Windows Vista.

    1. reboot your computer by tapping the F8 key until you reach the Advanced Startup Options menu.

    2. Select Safe Mode with command prompt.

    3. type chkdsk/r (there is a space between the k and /)

Once you are able to start Windows, back up all your important data.  Let us know if that helps.

I have a Compaq Presario computer that runs Windows Vista Basic 32 bit. Two days ago I got the message, unable to start Windows. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To solve the problem:

Mike, I don't see any of the screens have shown in the tutorial... just a black screen that continues to take back me to this God awful message, Windows could start... is the disk Windows SP1 integrated the correct disk, I need to repair or reinstall Windows?

If this is a good DVD of Vista, not a HP, Dell, recovery disk etc. you should be able to repair or to reinstall Vista with it.

A factory recovery disc does not normally gives you the choice of remedy; It is a straight line to reinstall.

If you are starting to leave her properly and still get the message, you have a hardware problem.

Here's how Boot from the DVD drive:

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

Make sure that everything is done correctly first.

Here is the full and correct way to use the ERD to Startuip:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

  • Cannot complete the reinstallation of Vista on Compaq laptop using the Compaq recovery disks. Tried to restore disk oem and new close to identical road. Errors: 0xc00000e9 and 0xc0000189 respectively

With no unusual occurrence that accompanies it, our laptop was able to start and would not initialize anything beyond a screen B & W style BACK and gave the first error (0xc0000e9) on this screen. After several unsuccessful reboots insert us the Compaq recovery disks and crossed the recovery (only full optional with such discs.) At the end of the transfer of recovery (from DVD on computer), the computer tried to restart and reported the same error message. We have seen anything past the transfer of files and B & W on the oem disk. I think the oem HD is bad. Web-surfing suggested the error was associated with a hardware failure and the DVD drive seems to work very well I bought a new HD almost identical to replace the oem version with. Both are Seagate Momentus 160 GB at 5400 RPM drives.

I re-inserted the recovery with the new installed hard drive disks and it loaded and seemed basically completely install Windows (computer is restored running several times and showed the Windows desktop with sequential programs etc. facilities.)

To restart the final success, I received an error message in the sense of "windows could not install: Please restart the installation process" and the 0xc000189 error code. I tried again and the result was identical, including the error message. In the process the emblazoned shortcut labeled sunflower administrator with "locked" below briefly appears before the above error appears above him. Navigation on the Web seems to suggest I've hit some kind of security problem that appears when an oem auto-installer is used. He was never a password of any kind on the laptop of our family, if there is one, it should be of Compaq.

It's an authentic (not stolen etc) oem new install of Windows (the laptop is only 18 months old) and I CD code on the computer but not the case in the installation me I asked for it. I don't know what you looking for installation.

I'm very confused and any help would be appreciated. Compaq is saying it's a matter of Windows of course.

    Thank you

  • Run32dll.exe winbrand.dll and other errors

    Hello

I tried to change the audio devices on my PC (windows 7 64-bit) about 20 minutes ago and was given and the error window with the title, "No supported 16-bit Application" the text in the window said, "the program or function '------?" \C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe"cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit Windows versions. Contact the reseller of software to ask if there is a compatible version of Windows 64-bit. »

After closing this window, it gave me another error with the title window, "C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe" the text of the window has to say, "the version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you are using. Check your computer's system information to see if you need a x 86 (32 bit) or x 64 (64-bit) version of the program and then contact the software publisher. »

I then thought about opening guest to use the sfc/scannow command... Normally to open the command prompt I press the Start button and type in cmd and select it. I did this, but the search function did not work. Manually, I went to the location of the command prompt and open to return with another window of error with the title, "cmd.exe - bad image" and the text in the window saying: "C:\Windows\system32\WINBRAND.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try to install the program by using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or support software provider. »

If naturally my next thoughts had to do a system restore, I opened it, whereas starting up and faced another problem in the system restore window saying, 'system restore doesn't seem to work correctly on this system. An element of Volume Shadow Copy Service has encountered an unexpected error. Check the log of events applications for more information. (0 x 80042302)"

I went to open the event viewer, but that has failed to open.

I did everything I can think of to solve these problems, but so far, nothing has worked. The only other thing I can think to do, it's a complete reinstallation of windows I want to avoid doing so if possible.

    Thanks for the tips.

I have however a full clean have reinstall of windows 7 as when I tried to start in safe mode, I was faced with a black screen with just the current mouse cursor. It's the same thing on normal startup.

However I had problems when reinstalling windows. I got error 0xc00000e9 when you try to install from the disc. I looked into things and eventually remove all disks hard bar that now, I managed to install windows on.

I think that the problem was a virus and I advise to all others who have faced the same problems as me to do a full clean reinstall of windows. You may lose a lot of documents, but your computer will be is more infected with the virus that may be present.

    Thank you for the help
