Error scanning HP 4400.

My Photosmart c4400 has worked without problem since I bought it.  Yesterday, after having scanned successfully a pdf document in Word, a second attempt to scan generated an error message.  The message says that there had been an error of and 1. Close the program; 2 restart the computer. 3. reinstall the software.  The numbers 1 and 2 did not correct the error.  When you try to reinstall the software that came with the computer, I was warned that a newer version has been installed.

I have followed help step by step in the HP Solution Center, unplugged the power cable, checked cables, etc. and still get the same error message. Printing correctly, as does analysis of the printer itself.

Can anyone suggest something to do to correct the problem that I have not listed above?

You are welcome.  Keep in mind that this can become very large and I'll do my best to help avoid this.  Try the above steps on the additional user account and let me know if you have any questions on this subject.  A good "loophole" that could be the cause of this is when a user will uninstall the printer software (and this happens with games and programs too), then tries to re-installed, the files in the registry remains makes installation "think that" some elements are still installed when they are not.

In the "setting up the printer" link I provided above, you will see the next step if this does not work.  I he re-writing for your specific needs so no need to follow, I just want you to see I'm here until it is fixed, and this is where it goes from here.  It's the way I am.  If I'm stumped, I'll get advice internally.  This can become really hard. I will remain optimistic, that the new user account will help to completely solve this problem for you.

    Thank you for the phone #. The woman at HP has solved my problem. For others out there, here is the solution that helped me.

    -Get the IP address of your printer (can find it under Network Config under settings)
    -Type the IP address in your web browser
    -On the left side, click iPV4 under WIRED or wireless (however you are connected)
    -Click on manual DNS
    -Under favorite type 8.8.8.8
    -Under type of spare 8.8.4.4
    -Disconnect the Modem from the wall. Wait 30 seconds. Reconnect it.
    -Turn off your printer by pressing the power button. Wait 30 seconds. Turn on.

    I can't scan with a Deskjet Ink Advantage 2060.

    HP Print and Scan doctor said that the error is the Windows WIA. It says HP TWain scanning and other tests are fine, not that I know how to do a TWAIN scan with it.

    Reading another post, I can confirm that "detecting hardware Kernel ', 'Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)' and 'RPC Remote Procedure Call ()' is running in automatic mode in the services list.

    My printer reacts to an application to scan and seems likely to be an analysis sometimes, but the software seems to act as if it receives nothing back from the scanner?

    I've uninstalled and reinstalled all the drivers twice without success.

    I tried another USB on my computer, and hey presto! He works all of a sudden!

    Looks like the HP scanners cannot handle all USB connectors. Odd.

    I understand that you found a 22 scanner error.

    Perform a power reset.

    Press the power button to turn on the printer.

    With the printer, unplug the power cord at the back of the printer.

    Wait at least 30 seconds. Reconnect the power cord to the back of the printer.

    Press the power button to turn on the printer.



    Update the firmware on the printer. I've included the url.

    I'm unable to scan or copy. I was analysis a number of photos with everything works fine until I got the error message scanner error 22 on the printer screen. Even after clearing the error message, I was still unable to scan or copy without getting the same error message. I unplugged the printer and repluged, still the same problem. I uninstalled the printer several times and reinstalled using two installation files found on the part support the HP site, multiple times and still not able to scan or copy. Cannot think of something different to do. Can anyone help with this problem.

    (1) turn off the printer

    (2) unplug the power cable

    3) press the power button on the printer, it will turn on for a second and turn off, it comes to drain the remaining power

    (4) plug the power cable back to the

    (5) turn on the printer

    Scan 6) should now work

    I get this error and switching market just after that 30 seconds won't work, it worked after I followed the steps above, it works for most electronic devices, in case you have a problem, for example my friends HP laptop would not display anything on the screen when turned on, I removed the batteries and you press the power button to drain any power stored in capacitors , then put the battery back and lit it, it worked just fine, same for my smartphone as well when he used to function well.

  • Improved HP software and now get the error scanning

    IMac bought 3 months ago (Mountain Lion 10.8.2).  Operations to scan and print on my Officejet Pro 8600 (N911A) worked well.  Also knitted for laptop with Windows XP.  I had never installed any software for this printer on either computer graphics since it was recognized and worked on both computers.

    Today, I downloaded what I thought, it was the last version of the software for the officejet on the iMac.  Now, I get an error message when I try to scan: "Scanner reported an error an error occurred when communicating with the scanner."

    The printer works from the iMac printing and scanning for the Windows computer.  I'm NOT using the wireless options.  Computers and the printer are connected through the router.

    I'm confused about the version of my scanning software as indicated in my computer I have version 3.6.0 and I think there's more recent versions for the iMac.  I followed the instructions to get the latest version.

    Shortly after posting the above concerns, iMac has announced updates that were available for my computer.  One of them includes an HP upgrade.  I had downloaded them and installed.

    Now my scanner works from the iMac and I also OCR which is what I was looking for when I did the initial upgrade earlier in the day.

    Interesting that the scanner still shows version 3.6.0.  That's fine with me.

    Problem solved.

    I have Windows XP and uninstalled and reinstalled the new software for the all-in-one HP Photosmart 3310, but evrytime I click scan, the scan menu comes up with 3 options, but being the 1. Select the computer the only clickable option. When I click on select a computer, it gives me the error message "no Scan option. Refer to device documentation to troubleshoot. "I had this problem before with my J3680 but solved the problem by reinstalling the software.

  • 7520 photoSmart All in One: error scan at 2400 dpi

    When I try to scan old photos at 2400 DPI in JPEG, I get an error at the end of the analysis.  If I scan at 1200 DPI it works, but then I can't change.  Error message indicates that the file is too large.

    The bit depth said 24.  Who is the problem and if so can I change?

    I see you having problems with a high-resolution scan to your PC for Windows 8.1. I can help you with that.

    What is happening is scanning at 2400 and 1200 dpi creates some massive files. Your PC is having memory problems when handling of 2400 dpi and has difficulty at 1200 dpi. You may be able to save the file at 1200 dpi, and then edit the file in another program instead. If this does not work then you will need to use 600 dpi or 300 dpi, which are two quality settings above.

    It still works fine with the HP software but now I'm trying to scan a document to a pdf file and I the situation below:

    Windows not in use HP scanner, the scanning starts but it is very slow and when she finishes the software gives the error below.

    I try the following without result:

    -changing the mode to save (tiff, jpg, ecc) and the scanning resolution

    -restart the pc and printer

    -uninstalling and reinstalling the driver from hp and corrective software and more recently

    -performing HP print and scan doctor (everything is ok for him)

    The only way to do a scan now is directly with the windows software.
