  My old iMac (core duo Intel) refuses to start, even after her trying everything I could find on this forum.

  Can someone please suggest a solution until I have to take it to a service center for what will be probably an expensive repair? If I think I know what you responses will be!

Used the two ports of wire before the scanner. Re-scanned dozens of times, and the pc scanner won't scan. Even went as far as using the system recovery disk, still no dice.

  I see that the manual recommends to replace the interface board and the interface cable. Although I have found no part number for the interface cable, at least than the average fire wire cable. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

When I disconnect the audio cable again, it works again.
