  You can remove these log files if you want, but they are generated automatically so that they will come back.  And there is already a purge calendar built into OS X to limit the size of the console of newspapers.  Unless you are desperately short of disk space, there is no advantage to clear the logs from the console manually - let the regular daily/weekly/monthly maintenance scripts to take care of purge of old files.

  If you purchased InDesign CS5.5 as an upgrade then it looks like it's showing that you need to provide information about the old version where you improved since he found nothing that qualifies.  You must only choose the old version and serial number.  (I don't know anything about InDesign, nor how it might relate to PageMaker).

  Your laptop is considered as coming with a 320 GB hard drive, but you can install just as easily a 500 GB or 750 GB HARD drive if you want a little more space - readers at the following links are examples that would be perfect for your laptop.

  When I bought the Tm2 a few years back, I not create a system for her recovery disk. Now that I have the ProBook 640, and realize how much faster it is... I want to do a restart of the system on the Tm2 and add the extra 4 gigs of RAM.

  The proBook 640 came with recovery disks when I bought it...  Anyone know if I could also use them for the tm2?

  Probably an obvious answer to this... I just haven't the experience or the knowledge base.

  If you are in the United States you will need to call the warranty HP support and arrange to send the laptop hard drive replacement. If the computer does not start in Windows, you can make a backup of the system to an external drive. If HP replace the hard drive, that they will not restore your data, what happens in factory condition. The hard disk of your laptop is not easily accessible, so the replacement will be performed by an authorized service representative.

  Good so I'm an amateur and I just bought this old laptop from a computer thrift store. I have a USB system (kubuntu) of operation. It was working fine until the usb key hit when I boot it says something about an invalid cable (too lazy to check). I've tried different usb ports, rebuild the operating system, ram cahnged. Nothing has worked, any suggestions.

  @James1234546789: when the USB has knocked out, several things could have happened: USB port of the unit has been damaged, damaged the USB key, USB key shorted (Yes - the latter can happen, this is done on a USB key, I had two weeks ago).

  They are all hardware issues - and how I would try to see who was the case would be (1) try a different USB port and (2) try the USB key in a different machine.

  IF the stick is damaged, replacement is going to be the only option.

  If the port is damaged, you are looking for at great expense to repair.

  So unless you have a floppy, it seems that you could be in trouble.  If your BIOS will not boot from CD then you can contact the manufacturer and see if they can send you a diskette or if they have another way to get the system to boot from the CD.  Or there's always the ebay... you may be able to find a set of readers for sale.  :(  A local PC shop may be able to help. QQ learn manage!

  If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

  At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

  If the computer is still under warranty, contact Dell technical support.

  On tests of hardware failures often alleged swapping parts by parts checked. If you can not do the test yourself and/or are uncomfortable opening your computer, take the machine to a professional computer repair shop (not your local equivalent of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad). If possible, have all your data backed up before taking the machine into a shop.
