HP Laserjet 400 M401dn: M401dn Firmware - print issues

Hello.

We have 4 HP Laserjet M401dn printers 400 in school.  These have been delivered and installed in time last September.

A problem highlighted recently when one of the teachers tried to print a simple Word document with a title in large font.  Whenever they printed the document, pages with the large font size came out white.

We tried new documents and other things, but whenever we have changed the size of the police to more than 70pt, the page would come out blank.

We then tested the same documents on other printers and it printed perfectly on 2 of the 3.

The 3rd company of the party in charge of our network took a look at the problem and it's associated Firmware.

PE / printer of geography are the two stamped Date of 20140521 Firmware.  Two of these printers cannot print fonts of size greater than 70pt.

Staff room printer was Date stamped 20120907 Firmware and prints ok.

ICT after the Date stamped printer Firmware of 20131214 and prints ok.

Can you HP and other users of this particular model, please test?  If the results are the same, HP can please release a updated Firmware to fix the problem?

If this isn't the case, please tell me where can I find previous versions of the firmware and the utility to restore the affected printers 2?

Thank you very much.

Hello.

Thank you for the answers.

I sent the following link for an update of Firmware for May 5, 2015 that solved the printing problem.

  • HP LaserJet 400 M401dn: M401dn not print white text on a black background

    Hello

We do not print white text on a blackground on a M401dn. I am trying to print a Word document. Prints fine on other printers we have - Brother HL-2240dn, Ricoh Aficio C4501.

When the work is submitted the HP printer prints a black block. There is no white text.

Can someone help me solve this problem please?

    Thank you.

After reviewing your samples in detail a bit more, I suspect that the problem may be associated with the size of the font you are selection (so it would affect black text on white background) rather than being something to do with the colors of text and background.

With a number of recent models LaserJet Mnnn , a firmware issue has prevented use of the font with a size of 72 points or more.

These appear to have been fixed with a new version of the firmware - see http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Software-Drivers/M401dn-Firmware-Printing-issues/m-p/5008912

  • LaserJet 400 m401dn: HP Laserjet 400 m401dn, make wireless?

Is it possible to buy a product to make the Laserjet 400 m401dn active wifi or is this product already activated?  The internet router is in another place, so a physical connection is not possible.  I would like the capability configure the SSID, etc. to connect and print.  Thank you.

    > Laserjet 400 m401dn wifi active or is this product already activated?

The m401dn is a model of printer Dmodel Network (wire) connected.  The active WiFi model would be a M401dw , that would be the model Dand Wwireless.

However, if you create a connection to your router via a wired Ethernet connection and then the printer would be accessible by wireless network devices.  All you need to do is get the printer on the network.

    > internet router is in a different location so a physical connection is not possible.

The only options you have are to run a new cable at the location of the printer and Ethernet cable connect with the current hardware.

Otherwise you would seek to create a 'bridge' between the printer and the router wireless network using a router without wire 2.  Configure the wireless router 2 to act as a client or to fill in the primary wireless router that acts as the main Point of access to the network.  Once the 2nd wireless router is filled in elementary school all the devices that are connected to Router 2 will be accessible from the main access point.

There are guides out there circulating that walks you through this process, but the specific steps will have to come some 2nd router manufacturer, you can decide to experiment.

Here is a sample of Cisco support article that calls this "Cascade" procedure one router to another:

  • HP Laserjet 400 M401dn: HP Laserjet 400 M401dn is not recognized as a printer.

We have one of these printers, and the user plugged into their PC before that we loaded the drivers.  Now the PC sees the printer as an external storage device.  Even when we try to load the complete drivers and connect us the printer to the USB port when the installation process is said to connect the printer that it distillers immediately sees it as a storage device and will not complete the installation.  We have tried to do the same process with a different USB port, but no luck.  We tried to go through the registry and remove all references to a printer M401 but that did not help.  What can we do to fix this?  Thank you

Thanks for the reply... what I ended up doing was in the settings in the Panel, I turned off the Smart Install feature and then after a reboot of the PC, I was able to install the printer drivers and everything works now.

  • HP LaserJet 400 M401dn

I can't get the printer to print systematically. It is directly connected to my Toshiba laptop running windows 7. In my view, that he might have something to do with the mode 'sleep' loading of software on the USB Ports - which I disabled. I tried different cables, different USB ports.  Printer prints very well from that laptop is started - but then will not be printed. That fills with unprinted jobs. When I reboot - of course, they are all print. I had it solved, but now it's back--suspect an automatic update of windows.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like you are having some problems with the printer that is causing you have some difficulties to get to print when you want. To start, why not uninstall the software and try to reinstall it from the download of the driver PL6 I'll tell you in a second.

First of all, if you use a USB cable, be sure to remove it (it's important). Do not plug it in again until the software instructs you. Through devices and printers, programs and features and issues Device Manager and make sure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. As indicated, and then restart the computer.
  • LaserJet 400 M401dn: LaserJet 400 M401dn no two-way Communication

The box to check the two-way Communication is grayed out and not verified.  We use FM Audit and officers on local printers installed for the counters and toner provide alerts and need this feature.  All PC use the right HP driver for this model, version unknown.  All agents do not report the levels of supply or meters.

Support FMA suggested using a universal print driver, which we did.  We can now check for two-way Communication and receive meters, but still no power levels.

Thanks for the comments.  After many trips on the clients site for FM Audit report meter/supply levels, finally informed me their tech support my model HP so that countless others report not correctly if at all when a local USB connection is used.  Here is a link to the models and how they report, or not in my case.

If you unplug the printer from the computer or network and turn on the fact come ready.  If so, then the print job that is still trying to print or a new print job is causing the error.  Delete all print jobs from any computer that uses the printer.  First upgrade the firmware using the easy firmware updating program.  Then try the same job and see if works.

  • MFP HP LaserJet Pro 400 M425dn will not print the text to format 72 points or more

My workplace has recently bought a M425dn of MFP HP LaserJet Pro 400 all-in-one printer. It works perfectly except for the fact that it will not print text that is 72 points or larger in size. I tried many fonts that are installed with Windows, and all them print correctly to the point size 71.5 or smaller; Another thing simply does not appear in prints. Content which is of size to 72 points or more * fact * affect the flow of the content printed on the page, however. It's like the 72 points or larger text takes up space, but it is completely invisible on the printed page.

I tested using Microsoft Word 2002 on three separate computers, of which two have installed Windows 7 and Windows Vista installed. The problem is the same on all three computers. The printer is connected via an ethernet cable to our wired network. I have installed the printer software included, and I don't think that there are updates for it that have not been installed up to this point.

Any thoughts on how to solve this problem?

Hello, I just made an account to solve this problem for you guys because it has been a puzzle to me also...

I apologize before the huge hand for the terrible grammar and punctuation that I'm in a hurry

Now it does not work for everyone but I fixed it on my machine with the following

now before you print it... .use (ctrl + p) in your text editor to open the print window, click (properties), and then navigate to the tab (Advanced) now, I have a section called the characteristics of the printer in this category there is an option to 'send truetype as bitmap' activate this and see if it can help someone of you, for me, with this PERMIT I can print any font size my processor will allow me to type

    in my machine's plug

    Reference Dell d6420

    Win7

    Msoft word 2007

    printer itself is

    HP laserjet 200 color m276

    printer driver is

HP LaserJet 200 color MFP M276 PCL 6

I understand that this printer and driver is not identical to yours in itself, but the nature of these drivers makes it highly likely that this solution works for most of you

If this can help, someone else did post more because I'll probly do not sign in to this site I created this account just for this post and I hope to solve this annoying problem issue for many of you... .no necessary congratulations

  • RESOLVED - "49 error turn off then" HP LaserJet 400 M451dn

Last week, I set up not one but 2 printers HP LaserJet 400 M451dn color for a client. It was 2 because I went first to the provider think there is a fault with the printer showed a 49 error randomly, but when I got exactly the same error on the 2nd and the same printer with a different provider, I thought that this may not be the case.

What I found was - I set up the printer with a static IP address of 192.168.0.218 and excluded this address in the DHCP reservation list, so it is not assigned to another device. If I turned on the printer without the LAN cable connected the printer would say "Ready", but as soon as I connected the LAN cable, it is when that would throw a wobbly and appear "error 49 - Turn off, then on. I tried to reset the default printer without joy.

THE FIX here IS (or should I say a work around) in the following order:

    (1) remove the LAN / network printer cables.

    (2) to reset the default printer.

    (3) remove the the 192.168.0.218 of the server DHCP reservation.

    (4) delete the IP 192.168.0.218 Server lease.

    (5) connect the LAN cable to the printer.

    (6) can get a new IP address from the printer. Using the same IP address again you go back to step 1 again.

    (7) that's all.

For some reason, this printer does NOT set a static IP address and put a reserve on the server. Nuts!

I installed several HP printers that I have in the course of the years and never encountered this problem. As I mentioned above, this is more than a solution to a genuine problem...

Hope you guys find this post useful.

I had exactly the same problem with a M451dn of 400 LaserJet, except in a working group with the router making DHCP, use a static address outside DHCP for 2 days and then pool this week had error 49, noticed that when the Lan cable has been disconnected, he seems to have stopped. Printer changed to use DHCP and it works again. (updating the firmware via USB had no effect)

  • HP LaserJet 400 colorMFP M475dw scan to E-mail problems

    Hi all!

I would appreciate a solution to my agony.

We recently purchased a printer HP LaserJet 400 colorMFP M475dw. Now, I'm putting in place (browser-> Scan--> the outgoing message profile administration) to send scanworks by e-mail but face the following problems:

    1. when it is correctly typed all the credentials, even the "Test & Save" option takes forever. After cople attempts I got it successfully tested.

    2. with the help of my personal gmail accout as the sender, sweeping work takes a lot of time. It stops in the phase connection smtp server for quite a long time before even starting the actual analysis.

3 using the company newly created accounts of e-mail as a sender, it takes even more time. I timed it just 6 minutes and 23 seconds before the actual analysis.

    4. now, it seems to send the scan ok, but with some first attempts it failed with some general error message asking to try again.

In my opinion, the time it takes is completely unacceptable. Is this a known problem and is there a workaround?

Our company emails run on MS Office 365 and I use smtp.office365.com as server smtp port 587 and SSL/TLS ticked (tried also unchecked). As I said with Gmail, it would also slow but still very very very slow.

    Help, please?

I know this is an old thread, but just in case anyone is still having problems with this - I managed to fix it by disabling IPv6 in network-> advanced in the web server administrator. Connect to smtp.gmail.com from 3 minutes + seconds.

  • Color LaserJet Pro CM1415fn MFP - professional printer with just a feeder?

I'm confused. He is a professional office color printer - which means that a number of print media will be used to print on a daily basis.

And after buying this printer at Amazon, I discovered that there not a manual feed tray and one paper tray.

I have print of legal documents - copy desk in our records, on cheap paper, a paper of good quality to the client and an envelope.

So I have to print a simple letter to remove and replace the Board THREE TIMES. This is not good.

My simple Canon printer internal, or any other printer I've seen ALL have manual power option.

QUESTION: could you please let me know if there is an attachment to this printer that would allow me to print manually, or should I send the printer to the shop?

    Hi GarryStotel,

No, this printer does not have an add on the extra add envelope feeder on the plates as accessories.
