HP Officejet Pro 8600 and default values of Open Office

I bought this printer about 18 months ago and have used it several times to scan documents and convert them into editable text. Output to MS Word and was brilliant.

I was recently required to install Open Office and since then, the printer ran out of this program. The result is a confused mess.

How can I tell the printer to use MS Word and not Open Office?

Thanks for your help.

Hello

Locate a document scanned with HP software in your Documents folder.

Right-click on this file and select open with and click on choose the program by default, and then select the word in this list.

If she's not licted, click on the browse option and choose WinWord.exe in the Program Files folder.

Hope that helps,

Shlomi

    Hi all

I have an OfficeJet Pro 8600 + and bought some Inkjet printable BD - R by HP. I can't find a way to print on these discs of the printer that I have. I don't see how the disc can be pulled from the paper tray standard as requiring the flexibility of paper to make turns in the normal way. Is there a secret door, that I can't find?

I really just bought disks for storage and discovered the ability to ink jet after I bought it. If this isn't a big deal, but I would like to take advantage of this and overcome the danger of my crappy writing on discs.  :^)

  • Need help to set up officejet pro 8600 and scanning to the network on OSX Lion folder

    Hello

I'm trying to implement my Officejet Pro 8600 more scan to a network under OSX Lion folder.  I have correctly set up the printer otherwise (and can scan and flown from my Mac).  I created SMB sharing as described in the documentation.  My only question is what to enter in the Web server of the printer when it asks for the network path of the shared folder.

For example, I have the following shared folder:

    / Users/me/Documents/scans/Durable goods received

on my computer that has name is:

    My iMac

    has an IP address:

    172.16.1.4

wonder web server of the printer a network path (for example: \\mypc\sharedfolder) but I do not know how to translate my way above in the correct format.

    I tried the following:

    AFP://172.16.1.4//users/me/documents/scans/durable------Goods\ recipes

    but he doesn't like it.

    I also tried:

    Recipes of \\172.16.1.4\Users\bvz\Documents\scans\Durable of goods.

    Nothing helps.

Thanks for any help or ideas!

    Hello

First of all, make sure to install the latest firmware for the printer.

SMBX (used by Lion sharing protocol) support added lately, and the device fails to access any forlder Lion shared with an older FW version:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02919168

You have shared the folder durable goods received ?

If so, I guess the correct path would be as follows:

    \\172.16.1.4\Durable goods received

Please let me know of any changes,

  • HP officejet pro 8600 and connectivity

I have a hp officejet pro 8600 more and that you have connected the system to my old pc (win xp operating system) via a USB cable.

I also want to use the printer from my laptop (WIN 7 64 bit) via my wireless network.

I took a peek on the site www.hp.com/go/customercare and I'm still unsure of what I need to make connections and what setting I should follow to get the old PC and my laptop running.

Should I remove the USB cable and set up a WiFi network only, or use the USB and wireless network?

Assuming that both computers are connected to the same router wired / wireless, then the easy way to do this is to connect the printer to the router (only).

I recommend that connect you the printer to the router with an Ethernet cable, if it is located close to the router.  A Wi - Fi connection is also possible.  Use the Wireless Setup Wizard in the network menu on the front of the printer to establish a wireless connection.

Once the printer is connected to your router, download and install the latest version of the software for your printer from the "Support & drivers" link at the top of this page.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 desktop shortcut does not open

Het all. I just replaced my old HP 4180 with a new Officejet Pro 8600. We have three computer that connects to it, and the shortcut on the desktop to open the software of the printer communication does not work only on your laptop. I used the installation of itentical on all computers. The Office has the full package software and two laptops have only the basic print and scan package installed. I checked the target of the shortcut on two laptops, and they are identical. I also tried to disable the antivirus and firewall software, but that made no difference - still unable to open the software to set the printer preferences, etc.

The laptop in qiestion is an EeePC H1000 running XP 32 bit, SP3. BTW, the laptop that has no problem is an identical unit.

When I select the shortcut, the hourglass appears for a few seconds, the wireless icon flashes as it appears that the software is attemptong to connect to the printer, but the window indicating that it is retriving the device information will never appear and therefore also the printer wizard window also never appears.

There's no problem with printing. Just get the Printer Wizard to open. Also for the record, if I select the printer in the Control Panel printer and faxes section, can I get the printer properties and preferences windows and make changes, but no way to get the companion window.

I tried to reinstall the HP software without change. I also tried a "repair" and also no change.

Any thoughts appreciated as to what else to look for that may be causing my problem.

Finally, find my own solution. I followed the instructions in the Support Document HP c03640384 HP Printer Wizard opens with an error in Script or in Notepad.

Even if it wasn't exactly my problem - I was just getting no response at all, - using the patch of registry (for my WinXP) of this document got my desktop shortcut does not work to open the Print Wizard.

You are able to print a self - test page, or print a document - you get the same black line when printing.

  • My printer is HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium, product #CN577A, Windows 7, Office 2007

The printer is only a little more than 2 months old.  Everything works perfectly except printing envelopes with Office 2007 on Windows 7 64 bit.  I just tried to use it and the first time envelope stuck.  Then I find I need to print with the side flap to the top or the printer is not picking up the envelope even though Office 2007 contains provisions to make or face down.  If the envelope is always printed on the side of Rabat and nothing that change in Office 2007 or on the printer made a bit of difference.  It seems that it should be in warranty, but HP says that it is not even though it is less than 2 months old.

THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR EFFORT TO HELP!  I was really surprised because I accidentally disconnected from the Chat Session with Wilma.  I'm sorry to say that your link: Hhttp://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=120&prodSeriesId=4322914&prodTypeId=18972&objectID=c02890475

fails and seems to be incorrect in my eyes.  I have a problem of a #10 business envelope printing.  The printer sets the envelope in the center of the ONLY paper tray.  If I followed the exact directions on desktop, Options printing envelopes & labels, it always prints on the side of Rabat.

By trial and error, I discovered that I can print ignoring directions.  Envelope is placed flap down, with him to the right side, no radio button do check in radio in a clockwise direction, for the flap to the top button is clicked and that the photo shows the configuration which is 3rd from the right office printing mode. It shows that I'm feeding the wrapped on the left side of the paper, with the flap to the top tray, that I can't do with a #10 envelope.  I know I've probably lost go back you there and it is ridiculous to go through such a convoluted process.  Something is obviously wrong with Office, me, the printer, or?.  Otherwise, the printer is perfect!   THANKS AGAIN AND IF YOU HAVE ANY HELP LET ME KNOW. ??  Deno

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 and OS Mavericks

Every since the loading of the Mavericks on my Mac, I can't scan life airprint.  I can print, but he fails to make an analysis of the preview when I ask for a scan.  I removed the old drivers and reloaded your new drivers approved by Maverick, but no luck.

    Hello

An options that you can try is to reset the printing on Mac system. What can happen, is that the printing system is held previous printers. Note that if you do reset the printing system, it will remove all printers listed. You can add printers back by clicking on the sign plus (+) sign in the lower left corner. I've included the document 'OS X Mavericks: reset the printing system'.

When you try to scan with the HP scanning software installed, you get the error messages? I've included the document 'how Scan: OS X v10.9'.

Please let me know if you still get the same error message when you try to scan from the preferences system ("Printers & Scanners), preview and Capture of Image.

    Thank you.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 and Windows 8.1

Vietnamese to 8.1 Windows installation, my printer worked fine.  I installed Windows 8.1 and came across the message - the printer error - before you can perform printer - related tasks...  I deleted and reinstalled the printer and it worked.  I printed several documents yesterday.  This morning went to print and the same error message is appeared, printing error.  I checked under devices and printers, and the HP printer has been grayed out.

    Please help in this matter.

My suggestion would be to delete the old settings you have on the PC and re configure to Win8.1

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600: Help: I changed the cartridges and they are locked (JO 6800)

I had a few problems print quality with my OfficeJet Pro 8600 and I changed the ink cartridges (950/951XL). Unfortunately, the problems are remained so, instead of buying a new printer head, I bought a new printer: a 6015 OfficeJet at Staples. First of all, I had to install the set up of the cartridges but pass them the old printer, which I had already brought to the depot of garbage to new XL versions. And guess what? The cartridges were locked! Now, I have to remove the locks in the old broken printer (what is left) or I can throw them-which is a shame because I bought the new 8615 especaially because it uses the same (expensive) XL cartridges. Please HP: help me. A loyal customer.

Any cartridge that is installed in your Officejet Pro 8600 would not be usable in another printer, including a different of Officejet Pro 8600 8600 Pro Officejet "cartridge protection" was defined.  This cannot be reset, even in the original printer.  Turning off the cartridge of the printer's built-in web server protection will not affect future cartridges installed in the machine.

Given the circumstances, I suggest call HP and ask if they can help to.  If they decline please post here and I'll see if I can help with a different approach.

You can disable the protection of the cartridge in your Pro Officejet 8615 for the future.

  • I need a printer hp officejet pro 8600 for win2000 driver

Someone in the world has a print driver that works with a printer HP Officejet Pro 8600?

The Officejet Pro 8600 printer does not support Windows 2000.  I'm sorry.

However, there may be a workaround solution.  To clarify, I don't have a Windows 2000 system to test this with, and it can take a series of changes for the following steps to work with Windows 2000.  You may need to find the equivalent Windows 2000 for this process steps/formulation as it was done using Windows 7 (the process must be the same).

It sounds weird, but the Deskjet 990c driver will work for the Officejet Pro 8600, and there's a Windows 2000 driver that is available for download.  However, Windows Update already has this driver and it's easier to use it instead to extract the executable driver and ending.

Essentially, the printer must be added manually using the Deskjet 990c printer driver.  There may be other resources out there, but I found none on the HP site for the use of this driver instead of the Oifficejet 8600 driver. This will give you only the printing features and nothing else. In addition, there may be problems printing since this isn't an official driver for Windows 2000 for the 8600 (I have not noticed any problems when I did a few test prints).

    1. go where your printers are listed and select the option to add a printer.

    2. Select the option to add a local printer (maybe it's a network printer in Windows 2000).

    3. create a new Standard TCP/IP port.

    4. Enter the address of the printer in the field IP address Ip or host name.

    5. the selection of the pilot window should now be open.  Click Windows update will complete the printer selection screen (may take several minutes using Windows Update).  Select HP for the manufacturer and the printer Deskjet 990c for the printer.

6 the name of the printer. The default value will be the deskjet 990c since it is the driver used, but I recommend to name what the printer is so that we know what it is.

    7. the sharing screen appears.  If you share the printer, enter the appropriate information.  Otherwise, click Next.

    8. at this stage, the process could be completed.  Print a test page to confirm functionality.
