HP Officejett Pro 8600: paper jam

I have a paper jam and I cannot fix it after viewing the video of HP.  The paper is visible from the front and after removal of the duplexer.  The book seems to be tightly wound around the roller.  I can't go out fron the front and it's wrapper around the roll, when I look at the back.  Any suggestions?

Dottie

Hey @Dottie11,

I see that you have some problems with a paper jam in your 8600 e-all-in-one printer Officejet. I can help you with that, but it is not a lot that can be done in this situation.

If the printer is still under warranty, I suggest to contact the HP Support by clicking on this link and fill out the form below.

If the printer is out of warranty, the best I can do is suggest more strength or cutting paper with scissors. Those who are not HP recommended troubleshooting steps and HP can not guaranteed that they will help with the jam, but it's the best I can do.

Please let me know the results after following the above. If you clear the jam or come up with a solution, please click on accept solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. The two icons are below this post.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 - Paper copy on the glass of the scanner, Officejet tries to copy the ADF

I'm trying to copy a document on my HP Officejet Pro 8600.  I placed the original face down on the scanner glass.  There is no original in the ADF.  Then, I pressed "Copy" and "launch in black."  the Offficejet then "think" the original is in the ADF file and try to copy a non-existent original.  The Officejet then generates a paper jam «»
in the ADF file' error message with instructions to clear paper jam and press 'OK' and spews a piece of paper from the paper tray. There is not an option for 'back '.  If I try to humor the Officejet by opening and closing the cover of the ADF and pressing 'OK', the Officeject generates a copy which is covered with black ink.  If I ask preview copy o, the document on the scanner glass is displayed.  I can adjust margins, etc.  When I select then 'copy' and 'Black start', the Officejet is trying to copy a nonexistent document in the ADF and generates the "Paper jam" message again.  Since there is not an option "go back", I turn the printer off, then turn it back on, and then try again.

How do I train me or the Officejet for copy of the scanner glass when the original is located on the glass of the scanner NOT the ADF?

  • OfficeJet pro 8600 paper tray slides not well

OfficeJet Pro 8600, Vista.   Newly purchased.

It is about the paper tray (and there's only a single tray for the Pro model).

It is not related to change the paper size, or how to close the tray when in legal size I've seen in a post.

This tray is attached directly on the surface of the table. When you open and push to close, he rubs too on this surface and is very difficult to open or close.  It will just slip off as my other hp printers.  The friction is causing this frustration.   I have to actually lift the printer with my other hand to remove the bin to.

Anyone else having this?  How to remedy?

What a shame of a problem.  Looks like a nice printer.

Problem solved.  The table of this printer on a material cover.  I placed the printer elsewhere with hard and soft surface.  This seems to work better.  However, not the best slides inside and out, but a lot better.

conclusion: do not throw a printer on any material!

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Solved.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 false jam transport error messages

I have two circular messages on my 8600 Pro. The first is that there is a jam in transport. "The print carriage cannot move", it is said. "Open the door ink cartridge access, varnish any jammed paper or obstructions and selec OK." But there is not any paper jam. I checked all sources of paper and they are clear. I also tried to remove one of the ink cartridges, how the cart moves happily all the way to the right and go back to the change cartridge position, with no problems at all.

Erase this message and you get a cartridge problem... Blah, blah, blad... one or more cartridges is damaged. No they are not. Remove them and replace them all with new, same error message.

Erase this message and you are to the cartridge jam.

I tried the 15 second cord reset and remove the printhead (which seems very well). Any other suggestions?

I love this printer - best thing HP produced in ten years - and I don't want to go back to work!

It was the black cartridge. First of all, the one I tried. So the good news is, now, I have two of my favorite printer...

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 paper Premium - Legal Issues

This printer supports legal communication, and it prints on legal paper but:

    (1) I am unable to get it printing double-sided paper legal?  I thought he did it?

    (2) the album paper Manager (were the printouts) says he's set to A4/Letter but what print legal paper, the document of clusters to the top where is spell.  It seems that this must slide to accommodate legal paper, but I can't figure out how to do this?  The end result is that of legal paper jams their output.

    (3) I had set up the printer so that the Tray 1 (top) letter-size and tray 2 was legal.  Unfortunately, in the order of the printer print on legal paper I had to put the lower shelf as the default tray (it does not automatically detect letter / legal) and once I did that it won't return to letter-size (even by resetting the default to the letter).   The only solution I found was to install the legal on tray 1 and the letter on tray 2.   Is it a software error?

    Thank you...

Hi, the 8600 is printing double-sided legal impossible.

The 8600 does not automatically detect the type of paper in the tray (s).

    Maybe the wrong section (?)

There are 2 pieces of torn paper stuck between the aluminum plate and the rollers that the platen slides everywhere.

The only way I can see to remove the paper (looking at it from the open door) is with tweezers. However the clamp will probably tear just paper, do not attract enough space of the paper to remove the paper without tearing.

I can't be the first person with this problem - suggestions?

Welcome to the HP community @macandsons!

I came across your message on several pages of food through your Officejet 8600 and wanted to pop in to help. I would like to see you link below and try the steps in the order for that matter. Generally a good cleaning roll will help this type of concern. If you still find the printer pull in several sheets of paper, then I recommend finally call phone support to talk of a replacement printer.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 - paper format and copy

I have an original document which is 216 x 330mm (8.5 x 13 in) and the paper of the same size. I want to copy the document to its original on the document size. When I try this, thumbs down, or so of the original are not copied. Now, for reasons known only to HP, the "Paper size" menu (on the printer) in the copy options gives a very limited number of possible paper sizes, and 8.5 x 13 is not one of them. From there, I understand:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/scanning-faxing-and-copying/unable-to-copy-legal-size-on-HP7610/m-p/297...

that replace the region of the printer setting affects which paper sizes are available under the menu copy and this seems to be true, but I tried a lot of different countries and none of them include 8.5 x 13.

My only option was to scan the document and print it then my PC. Note that when you print from the PC the 8.5 x 13 size is available, and if I get the result I want - an enlarged copy on paper of the same size. However, it's much slower just made a copy of the printer, and if I had to copy a large number of documents, it would be really possible.

So is there a solution to this? I for the life of me don't understand why everyone thought it would be a good idea to limit considerably the range of sizes available destination when copying. What would be really nice would be to have all of the available formats, the same list see you if you go to 'Print Options' on the PC, the printer, what that is the region, and if this list is deemed to be a bit heavy so to choose the settings by default, perhaps in an 'Advanced' options menu

    Hi Bell,

I cut paper format legal until Folio and tested on a 8600 JO.

I found that the setting of the copy to legal size and feed the page via the ADF has copied the entire page on Folio paper I created.

There is no errors if the printer did not bother the paper more short.

Found a solution for Windows 7, but I need this same problem solved for Windows 10...

The solution: 'Using pilot Deskjet 9800 to set a custom paper size to print for Officejet 8600' worked very well for me on a Windows 7 machine...

However, the HP Deskjet 9800 driver is not available for Windows 10... you have another driver I can use that would work with Windows 10 and which is compatible with the HP Officejet Pro 8600... ???

    Hello

Use the HP Deskjet 6940 as another driver, if it is not listed under HP it appears after clicking the Windows Update button in the Add Printer dialog box:

    3. Click on 'the printer that I want isn't listed.
    4. Select A Local port or a netowrk with manual settings.
    5. Select the port used by your printer.
    6. Select HP

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600: False messages on HP Support Assistant for Officejet 8600

On the HP Support Assistant, I get the message:

Printers HP Officejet Pro 8600 - 'Transport Jam' message and

' Printers HP Officejet Pro 8600 - a ' Out of paper ' or "Pick motor stalled" displays

but the two messages are false - I have no "carriage jam" or "paper" problems.

The messages showed only upward after the installation of Win 10 and not before with Win 8.1 installed.

    Hey @cbrodersen,

Welcome to the HP forums! I hope you enjoy your stay here.

I understand you see false error messages in the help Wizard on your PC of Windows 10. I can help you with that.

To address this question of what we will do is to uninstall your printer software currently installed. Once that was removed, you can download and install the most recent drivers by clicking on this link.

This should prevent the support Assistant to provide you with more false error messages. If you need anything else please let me know.
