HP Pavilion: Computer says printer HP deskjet F2180 door open, but it is closed

Computer says printer HP deskjet F2180 door open, but it is closed.  Printer seems to be happy and work OK (no lights telling me that there is a problem) and when I took the cartridges (21 and 22) and then put back them in the printer, he printed the document scan for me.  It's just that, in the section printer HP on the PC, it says 1 document in the queue and printer: door open.  I have tried everything - everything is off for 30 seconds, etc., and time is of the essence that I have things printed on Saturday pm and collated etc..  Help, please!  Thank you, Lindaeleanor.

Thanks Musicman - I was so desperate that I wore to try anything.  In the end,.

Click on: Control Panel

Click on: computer problems

Click on: use a printer

It came up with a window named troubleshoot & help prevent problems,

Click on: next and EXPECTED

Although at the end it said it could not find no problem - after a second or two the printer suddenly burst into life and it worked great since and I could get my printing done on time!

Thank you very much for your efforts in replying to me.

Best regards, Lindaeleanor

  • my computer says printer ready, but when I try to print it does not say connectedit is a HP 3000 3 month old.

I have a wireless printer. On the computer it says ready, but when I try to print it says not connected. Help

Print a Network Setup page using the controls on the front panel of the printer.  See your manual for details.  Some newer HP printers have very summary User Guides (if you have the Deskjet 3000 J310, this means you) and it is difficult to see how - or if - you can print a Network Setup page.

What you want to do is (a) determine the IP address that is currently configured in the printer and potentially re - configure an IP address of your choice.  You may need to search in the help for the printer on your computer system.  You may be able to access the printer setup utility using your Internet browser or you need maybe connect you the printer to the computer via USB and use the printer installation CD.

Once you know what the IP address of the printer (and, preferably, how to change), then...

    On your computer.

    • Click Start > printers and faxes
    • Right click on your printer icon, and then select Properties
    • Click on the Ports tab
    • Taking care NOT to click in the list of ports (where you might accidentally change something), click Configure Port
    • Compare the IP address in the box "printer name or IP address.
    • If the IP in the box is not the same as the one you have determined for the printer, make sure.
    • OK your way out and you should be able to print.

Now... If the above has solved your problem, you might want to know why and probably would like to know how to prevent it from happening again.  Him 'why' is normally your wireless router automatically sets the IP address of the printer.  If you turn the printer off, there is no guarantee that the router will assign the same IP address when you turn back on it, especially if the other devices were connected to your router in the meantime.  There are two methods to deal with this.

One, you can check the checkbox in the tab "Configure Ports" which always says 'print to this device, even if its IP address changes.'  This is a feature that the HP printer drivers have, but in my experience, it is not reliable.  It works probably better if you change the contents of the box of the IP address of the printer "hostname."  This is something that you should be able to find in the printer setup utility accessed through your web browser.  It is NOT the name of 'Port' that appears on the "Port Configuration" tab in the area above the IP address.

Two, you can change the way that the printer receives his usual default IP (automatic) address manual, otherwise known as a static IP address.  If you do this, you will need to choose an IP address that is in the same subnet as your router (this means that the first 3 of the 4 series of numbers of the IP address must be the same).  For example, if the IP address assigned to your printer is 192.168.1.105, then any IP address that you select for use as a static IP address for this printer must begin with 192.168.1.  The last part may be any number of through254 2, EXCEPT that it may not be a number this router can assign to something else.  You will find this bit of your router configuration utility.  Or, if your printer was awarded automatically an address with the last part as 100, 101, 102, 103, etc, you'll be pretty reliable if you choose a number far away, but still within the range (for example, 25, 50, 200).

  • I accidentally deleted my printer HP deskjet F2180 of printers and fax machines.

How to restore the printer above. I don't know where is the original installation disc.

    Help

If you want to say that you just clicked on the icon for your HP F2180 and choose 'remove', you don't need the floppy, and you don't need to download anything.  Simply connect the printer to the computer and it should be recognized and installed automatically - because the removal of the icon of the printer has not, in fact, deleted the printer driver.

If necessary, perform the following steps and install your printer:

    1. disconnect the printer from the computer
    2 reset
    3. connect the printer to the computer

If this does not work, you'd better explain exactly what you were doing to accidentally delete the printer, as well as what happens when you do the 3 steps above.  If you receive error messages, please do not paraphrase.

    Hello

Thank you for using the HP Forums.

    You can try this:

    Creating a TCP IP port

    1. print a Configuration Page to get the printer IPv4 address (you can also tap on the icon wireless on the front panel of your printer to obtain the IP address)
    2. on your PC, go to the Panel control, devices and printers, right-click the printer and on the left, click printer properties, select the Ports tab.
    3. click Add Port, select the Port TCP/IP Standard, then New Port and follow the instructions in the wizard.
    4. Enter the IP address of the printer.

Note that you can ALWAYS go back to the original port the HP software installed by selecting the HP port on the Ports tab (in the properties of the printer)

    Hope that helps!

  • My computer says it is running service pack 3, but I noticed that two service pack 2 were installed. Is this right?

My computer has terrible fonctionnee and will not at all.  There a lot of errors blue screen and constant freezes.  It happens all the time.  The fact that service pack 2 is installed would be part of the problem?  Also, is it OK to enter the program records to remove a program if it does not appear in the section install/remove?  Thanks for your help.

    Hi RonGerdes,

    1. where to find two entries for service pack 2 on the computer?

    2. Since when are you the bluescreen or constant freezing on the computer?

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

  • Hp deskjet printer: Hp Deskjet Ink Advantage 2515 printer scanner copier.

Hi, my printer Hp deskjet 2515 ink advantage does not work on my laptop. my laptop is acer and windows 7 ultimate.

the printer is not printing and copieying... What would be the problem and what is the solution.

my laptop says that the tray must be open, but its already open, and if we use the copier it says his blocking and his flashing and there is a! sign like that.

Thak you very much hope, can you help me

    Hello @renzy ,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that you get a message to open the output tray or a similar message on your Deskjet Ink Advantage 2515. I hope to help you!

Try to open the exit tray and ink cartridge door.

Then close the print cartridge door.

Do a power reset to see if that will solve the problem:

Press the power button to turn the product on.
With the product, unplug the power cord from the back of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the back of the product.
If the product does not light by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.

Make sure that the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet.

    I hope this helps!

  • Cannot install Laserjet 4 on xp HP Pavilion computer.

I try to install my HP Laserjet 4 on my HP Pavilion computer.  I bought two new, years ago, but they were never together until now.  The computer was in my office and the printer was at home.  The printer was working on a different HP Pavilion for a long time and it now works when it is connected to other computers, so I know it's good.

I downloaded ljJ632en.exe on the site of HP drivers.  I ran that file and unpacked the 29 files to c:\lj632 and reported it was done.  The printer is still not recognized by Notepad or Word.  I tried to restart and did the download and he ran three times, sometimes with some afterwords restarts and sometimes without.  Should I sent the files downloaded to another location?  Is there something else I'm missing?

The operating system is Windows XP, Version 2002, Service Pack 3.

    I'm puzzled.

Thank you, Magali.  Your solution did not work because the Panel did not show my printer in printers and faxes.  Your answer has led me to try the function of adding new hardware and it worked.  In case someone else needs to use it, here are the steps:

    Control Panel

Adding hardware (opens the Add Hardware Wizard)
    Next
    Yes
    Next
    Add a new hardware device
    Next
    Find and install automatically
    Next
If the printer is not found, click Next
    Printers
    Next
    Use the following port: LPT1
    Next
Highlight in the left for HP
Highlight as part of right for HP Laserjet 4
    Next
    Keep the existing driver
    Next
    Print a test page
    Finishing.

  • Computer Vista will not print to Deskjet 930c on home network

Our three computers (Vista is A, B, and C are XP) are connected to a wired network of private home.  Computer A has a Canon printer that is shared and all 3 computers can print to that very well.  Recently, we re-gasket a printer HP DeskJet 930C to computer B (via USB) and shared.  Computers, B and C can be printed on the HP very well.

But, even if A computer can see the printer, it will not print.  He seems to accept the print command and sometimes a dialog box flashes on and so quickly as it cannot be read, but nothing prints.

I worked through the Microsoft article "File and sharing printers in Windows Vista" at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx#mainSection and you don't see anything that solves the problem.  I ran the doctor of printing & scanning HP and who wrote the 930C is installed but not connected.  According to the website of HP, Vista has the correct driver.  I have uninstalled and installed the printer from computer A, but it still does not work.

So I called HP Support, and they said that I had done all the right things, and "it must be a registry problem.  This seems unlikely to me, and I don't know where to look in the registry.

    Any ideas or solutions?

    Hello

Windows XP sharing can be done automatically in XP or operating systems, XP does not host the drivers for the newer Vista operating systems and so you will have problems with some models.

To manually add the shared printer, follow these steps:

    1. install the printer locally in following second method: connecting the cable in parallel below:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01655752

    2. go into your PC host (computer B), right click my computer and select Properties.

Find the name of computer on this screen.

    3. go in Control Panel > printers and faxes.

Right-click on the printer and select Properties.

Open the tab end hand note the share name

Note: I would say keeping the name of sharing as simple as possible (e.g., 930C)

    4. go to your Vista machine and open Control Panel > printers.

Click with the right button on the 930c configured in step 1 and select Properties.

    Open the Ports tab.

    Click Add a new port.

In this list, select Local Port.

Set the local port in the form of \\Computer B Name\Printer share name (for example \\PC-P\930c).

Confirm the changes and check any change.

If you have still any question, I would say that the printer is connected to the Vista machine, then share it with the XP PC and check for any changes that should run more easily from my experience.
