    Hi fernan215,

Yes, turn off your printer when not in use. A fluctuation of current or failure can cause more damage to your printer when it is still on. You are also right that the printer is cleaning the heads and align the cartridges every time it is turned on. This is to ensure stability, good maintenance and calibration of your inks for the best output every time.

With the battery and unplugged HQ, I held the button for 30 seconds. Re-installed the battery and AC with the same results. I have also repeated this process several times. I also did this procedure with only battery reinstalled with the same results.

  • HP Omen: Y at - it a way to turn off fan on HP Omen lights

On the forerunner of HP, there are red lights that light up in the vents back fan which seems odious when at College. Is there a way to turn off the fan lights, or is it just permenantly on?

In the omen of HP Control Panel, there is a LED brightness slider.

Movement that to 0 and all the lights will be turned off.
Unfortunately, I didn't have to disable just the taillight while leaving the rest on.

I'll look into that, though, in which case it is.

  • How can I turn off the "always off-line" property on a specific folder or share?

Hi, I use Windows 8 on two machines with a home group. On the smaller machine, I use Sync Center to keep an offline copy of some of the files that are stored on the big machine. I can then work on those out-of-home and sync when I come back. I do not use the cloud, just the home network.

I can choose any folder and ask to be "always available offline". It works very well. But I can't turn this setting off. The cache on the smaller machine becomes too full so I want to selectively remove some of the files of it.

I tried the following none of which:

    (1) in the file Explorer, right-click on the file and look at the context menu. There is no other choice "make always available online.
    (2) even again and look at the properties. There is a checkbox indicating "always available offline" and it is not gray - but it won't let me click on it. So I can't remove the tick from the box
    (3) in the file Explorer, select the file, and in the tab "Home" watching 'Easy Access'. The "always online" option is grayed out.

No experience with this problem? It doesn't seem to appear in google searches

    Hi and thanks
the problem seems to have "solved itself" and I will describe below the steps that I actually took.
But first, just to clarify, this isn't (I think) a problem of skydrive, unless the policies and procedures of caching are the same regarding networked files (which I'd be interested to hear about). I'm not using skydrive. I'm just a home group in which wholesale laptop has two 500 GB drives and small laptop has a 250 GB drive. Great hosts of all mobile files for the House and a small laptop computer via a homegroup. Both machines are running Windows 8. I have improved in December to 8.1 and then is a complete Windows 8 resettlement, so that they are both pretty clean.

"Access all offline files" is turned off on both machines, and all actions are defined to allow network users to decide which files they want to store online (I think this is the default)

Just to complete the picture, it is the only user on each machine, which has administrative privileges on this computer.

When away from home, small laptop can continue to use the shared files because while that connected small laptop, I mark it as "always available offline". Then when I come home, I just sync (with the network, not with SkyDrive shares). However, I have to do this selectively, because there is not enough room for all of them. So I just keep offline files copies I'll work on all away, about 34Gb.

This solution is fine for me, I don't really have a use for Sky Drive yet.

The problem is that while I can turn on "keep a copy offline" selectively, I couldn't turn off selectively. If one day I put a huge folder by mistake to be readable while offline and then discovered that offline files had gobbled up space on the drive of the laptop little almost all the. But I couldn't pass this backrest to remove from the cache offline files. The relevant menu options were all grayed out.

In the world stopping or disabling 'offline files' did not help, because as soon as I have reactivated the, small laptop "remember" what she should be cached. I guess I could have reduced the cache space something much smaller, but then what I would do is remove the functionality that I needed because Sync would fall on complain there is not enough room.

When I searched on the web, I found that it was possible in Windows 7 to reset the cache, by adding an extra key in the registry (see, for example, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/230738/en-us).

But this doesn't seem to work in Windows 8 (see http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-winapps/how-to-re-initialize-the-offline-files-cache-and/9e785cc9-d8ad-42fc-b772-36ac01db18e4). So I wanted to know how to do the same trick in Windows 8

What has worked (don't know too why) are the following steps:

    (1) the big laptop, move all the files that are used to be in the huge file in a temporary store
    (2) on big laptop, use the tab share offline on the properties of the file once - huge, to deny the user the right to keep a cache online.
    (3) make the shareable temporary store
    (3) close big laptop and restart
    (4) close the small laptop and restart
    (5) sync small computer laptop once again, making sure not to request a copy of the temporary Bank offline

Grayed links seemed to 'wake up' and I was able to delete all cache offline except the files I wanted. But I have no idea why.

Hope this helps someone, and I think it would be useful to publish, somewhere, a "how-to" article telling how to reset the offline files cache.

Chiffchaff-faced apologies if the skydrive also corrects work for offline networking files.

  • Pavilion DV7 1261wm: my laptop turns off suddenly

OK my old is about four and a half years. I sent in February to get a good cleaning and chekout in the same office, I am using since I bought it because we told hp approved certified and guaranteed mobile phones to send too. In any case... I got as maybe he done a refresh and I did not notice then it happens again and again once at different days, but not every day so on until yesterday it stopped 4 times and I noticed he ussually did when there was a programm treatment much and temperatures exceeding 45 degrees.  I have an AMD turion procesor dualx2.

Original HP hard drive was a x64bits but the new is a 32 bit and has a 2.2 GHz just in case an SMbios 2.4.

I check the fan. The small place it blows cool air and more to the screen one blows hot air. the sound only wjen I open a program of many processes like autocad or turns on the machine. I notice also before when to stop he did done gently, but now it is a 'plop' sound and is disabled.

assessment of the system is 4.9

This sounds like the card system is on its way. I remember these portable line card system video problems and seems like your begins to encounter this problem.

When converting it comes up to 85

It is a clear case to me.

The problem described is related to overheating.
Overheating is caused by different reasons, but the main reason are the dust and debris inside the cooling modules.
Cooling modules do not work with the best performance because of the dust, which leads to a higher temperature and finally to overheating.

The laptop stops automatically to prevent the equipment from damage.
I think if the fans would be carefully clean then you should be able to solve this annoying problem.

Safe mode disables extensions in Firefox 4 and later versions, and disables hardware acceleration.

  • HP Pavilion notebook15-ab035ax: computer HP Pavilion 15 laptop turns off suddenly on low battery

I bought my hp laptop Pavilion in India. Now, I live in England. For the last month or two, I have problems with my laptop. Whenever the laptop is on battery power, it does very quickly. It randomly stops (no stops, just turned off with a gut wrenching tinkling of the hard drive) at any time under load of 50%. no notification of low battery or go into hibernation. It can happen in the middle of typing a sentence or you to browse.

I ran the diagnostic. Software battery check HP first showed a result of "low battery." I was about to order a new battery, when I ran the software once again, who now says "main battery OK.

It's very confusing, because even if we agree that the battery has developed a problem, I do not understand why the system is not detect low battery or putting the computer to Hibernate, depending on settings. I checked the drivers - updated.

The laptop is just a year and 3-4 months.

Should I replace the battery? Or is it a software error in the new upgrade of windows 10?

    Any help will be appreciated.

Announcing this computer from July 2012 and not even a hiccup.  4 days, the computer suddenly began turn power off. It doesn't stop, it turns off, the plug was pulled. When I reboot I get the message of abnormal termination of Windows.   There is no warning at all.  No message as the computer is overheating.  He comes to occur when the computer is idle without programs will open.

When it stops, the power supply unit light goes out for a minute then comes back on the 'green' and the computer can be restarted.

I unplugged the power cord and relugged and it seems fine.

The computer is aware of the updates of Windows and can be stopped normally.

I removed the cover and clean the dust and confirmed all fans are running properly.  I left the lid off the coast, and the computer stops again.

I must add that when the computer is started 'cold' it runs about 15 minutes.  If you restart after it just closed, you have maybe 3-5 minutes of use.

Why did you think it was overheating.
