HP recovery new hdd

I have a HP dv6 3260es Nightingale that came with his "original HARD drive.

I recently bought a new hard drive 250 GB SSD and replaced the old HDD by this news. I kept the old HDD and placed in the CD/DVD slot. Now, I have 2 hard drives and no CD/DVD slot.

In the old HDD, I still have the recovery partition (D and I would like to know how (and if it's possible) to use the recovery partition to perform a system recovery (tools of Windows and HP, etc.) on the SSDS.) I mean, run a recovery not on the hard drive that is but on a different hard drive installed in the laptop.

If this is not possible, how can I move the new hard disk recovery partition? Keep in mind I do not have a CD/DVD slot.

Thank you very much!

It is unlikely that you will be able to perform HP recovery on the HARD drive to install the partition operating system and recovery on the SSD. Even if it were possible to get it to install on another drive, it is unlikely that the HP recovery would install to a 250 GB drive. You can clone the HP Recovery for the SSD partition and try to run the recovery in this way, but again, it is unlikely to work.

You could also create (using the original HARD drive) your HP personal (DVD or USB) recovery media, if you do not already done and try to run the HP system recovery it... but still, I think it will fail because of the smallness of the SSD.

If the original OS and HARD drive are in very good condition, you could clone HARD integer for the SSD drive. This would require a shrink the partition from the OS to the smaller SSD. This is probably your best method to use. Your SSD could come with cloning software, or you can search the net for some freebies.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

I was wondering if you wonderful people out there can help me by answering my questions:

    1. is there a limit on the size of the HARD drive that my ' 4320 Pro can take, if there is a limit (for example, 10 GB) so can I upgrade the BIOS to allow for a more generous size (say 40-80 GB)?

    Hi Stu,

In response to your questions: -.

    1. most computers manufactured since the end of the 1990s can accommodate the larger discs, I found several supplies citing disks > 40 GB for your model. Any restrictions imposed by your BIOS could be corrected.

    2. remove the HARD drive is relatively simple and will generally involve nothing undo more than a few screws. Most hard disks are held in a caddy of some kinds and this will have to be transferred to your new drive. You must locate your current HARD drive (it must be under a Panel on the side or your laptop. Note that some models locate the HARD disk in the optical drive, so you may need to remove this first.

3 hard drives usually come in two sizes, 2.5 "and 3.5", this refers to the width of the player. the real depth is largely irrelevant, since it will be held in a caddy. You certainly should not wrap the reader with the foam.

    4. I replaced my drive HARD original with an 80 GB version. The process took less than 10 minutes, and then I just rebuilt my system from the product recovery discs before restoring my data on a backup CD.

My drive hard internal is not read and was told that I need a new. Where can I buy a new HDD for a Satellite C855 1RL, and what kind of money it costs. I have the recovery disks

    Thank you

You can buy new HARD drive in every store of the computer. What you need is 2.5 "SATA HDD.
In my opinion you should now reflect on the upgrade and buy SSD that will offer more performance and make your laptop run much faster than before.

  • Cloned new HDD for Pavilion 1210.uk does not start

I am new to the forum so Hi everyone.

I just installed a new HDD (SATA) to my office. BIOS identiified unit correctly and I cloned using HDClone software. He succeeded with 0 read and write errors. All files are accessed through drive letter access. So far so good, I thought. I then tried to boot from the disc again by changing the BIOS boot order. Hoewver, when the trunk begins with the new PC HARD drive crashes with a white/black screen with the cursor blinking in the upper left corner. It is the logo of Microsoft and o/s linen starts (XP).

    Some additional information:

    * Old HARD drive still boots without problem with or without the new drive.

    * I changed the transfer rate of 3.0 GB to 1.5 GB being the SATA 2 drive. That made no difference, then changed back.

I don't know what is wrong, someone has also experienced this or knows what is the problem?

    Thanks for reading.

The cloned system was not built with PATA and SATA drivers.  This could be the problem. You still get the blinking cursor?  You can send an email to technical support HDClone and ask of PATA, SATA problem of cloning.

However, when the recovery ends and the windows starts for the first time, I get a message: Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on a hardware on this computer.

The new hard drive is a Western Digital 500 GB SATA.
Is there a conflict with the new hard drive?

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks for any help.

    Hello

It might be possible that there is a conflict with the new HARD drive.
Try to start Windows Vista is SafeMode (F8-> safe mode)
    Is this possible?

You can also try to repair the system.
    F8-> fix my computer

    1. Yes, AFAIK to restore it without problem. You can make a recovery of the HP DVD bootable USB key, simply copy the files will not make the USB bootable, it needs to be. You can buy a usb DVD drive to use the HP DVD recovery

    2. Yes, as long as you have a W7 product key. I recommend the upgrade, these are W7 drivers

  • Satellite M70-151 - not possible to install new HDD

    Hello

I have a problem with my Satellite M70-151. bunch of old hard drive (100 GB Hitachi) reached the Windows XP screen then just ends with a blue screen a turn off laptop, immediately. I had to restore my data with an application file-rescue of another PC. It was not possible to start from old hard drive yet.

Then I bought a Western Digital SATA II 250 GB hard drive that put my Windows XP CD in DVD player installed and tried to start. The laptop turns off as soon as the laptop computer tried to access the HARD disk.
Thought, it was question of SATA II disk and tried a Samsung 160 GB Sata I - same result.

    BIOS recognizes the correct drives.

If I try to boot from old hard drive, it shows the issue I mentioned first, but as before it reaches the Windows XP Boot screen before moving on to the blue screen before turning off the laptop. So start goes further than the boot with new hard drives

The Windows XP CD I used is not the restore CD that came with the laptop, but a normal license.

The heat is not a problem, I cleaned the CPU fan there is enough space to breathe the cold air mobile, the temperature is ok.

    * My questions are: *.

Is there any special application running on laptops satellite, like special software of Toshiba, perhaps Backup, should I be aware of?
What I need to preformat the hard drive, Toshiba-Hardware will recognize the hard drive?

It would be great to get help on this issue, because I'm out of ideas. Thanks in advance!

    André

    Hello Andrew

This behavior is very strange. I have some old Satellite M70-159 with 100 GB HARD drive. I also tested how it will work with a 250 GB HARD drive and all is well.
On two drives, I have installed WXP using the Toshiba recovery image.

I answer your two questions No. to install Windows XP Home edition on this model of laptop you don't need some special Toshiba application or a piece of software.
HDD should be recognized correctly by the BIOS and the Windows XP Home edition installation procedure should work well.
What you can try is to set the BIOS to the default settings and try again.

The strange thing for me is that judgment. The blue screen tells me that there may be some serious hardware problem, the HARD drive controller might be. It's really not easy to say with certainty what can be the problem.

  • Satellite P35-S609 - new HDD not accepted

    Hello

I am trying to install Windows XP (toshiba recovery CD) on a new hard drive Samsung HM160HC (160GB) on a Satellite P35-S609 but once the CD format the HD and copy all the files on the hard drive (to start installing XP) laptop does not boot from the hard drive, someone has an idea?

Obviously, the drive has no flaws, perhaps the bios V1.4 takes not more than 100 GB HD or I don't know if this is the limitation of Windows XP, the thing is he isn't still trying to start the start of HD - anyone have any idea?

    my email:
    [email protected]

    Hey Buddy,

Your new HARD drive is recognized in the BIOS?
You can install Windows on another drive?

Satellite P35 has old IDE interface and generally it s limited to 128GB HDD (> 120 GB). If the HARD disk is not recognized you use a 120 GB HARD drive only.

  • Satellite L670-1john - recovery Will HDD work if I leave the D partition?

    My laptop is L670-1Jn

On my drive C: is installed windows
On my drive D: is installed HARD drive recovery

With windows 7 I want to create a new partion E: on my D: drive
The E: partition will be reserved for my data.
Once create E: partition I want to do a picture disc C: and D:

    Serious problems:
first I used first HARD drive recovery
If that doesn't work I'll bring disk C: and D: images

My question is: HDD recovery works if I create a new partion E: on my D: drive?

    Hello

To be honest, I've never tested it, but I think that you should be able to use HARD drive recovery, even if the partition D has been changed, but that's just my opinion.
So before you change anything on the HARD drive, I recommend you create the recovery disk!
The recovery disc helps you define the laptop (and also HARD drive) back to the factory settings if anything went wrong with the HARD disk or similar

With recovery disk, you are on the safe side you know
I think you can run a series of experiments after the recovery disk was created.

Please share your experience with us, I m very interesting.
