HP Support Assistant and public service center

Windows 8.1: I tried to update the HPSA from the download Web site, the installation failed and gives error 1603 error during installation, see Windows Installer (Msi.chm) MSDN help. I tried the same thing once again. I tried to uninstall in Control Panel programs it does not find necessary files. The same problem occurs with the public service center.

The computer of my wifes HP Windows 8.1 HPSA had updates of hardware problems after installing one for WI - FI and HP support by phone me reinstall the HPSA Web site, it worked well he then pursued the conclusion/download/install updates. A week later, he continues to automatically find, download, and install updates material very well.

If you can restore the initial framework of HP software using the restore method I listed above and then try the suggested fix (restore HPSA, install the update).

If you can't get it back, here is the download for 8.0: HP software framework

Make sure that you disable the programs before proceeding with all stages of work in the background: prevent opening software programs when Windows starts (Windows 8)

I hope that it works, the next steps are probably a factory restore.

  • How to get hp support assistant to install and works on windows 7

I am trying to install hp support assistant on my hp pavilion dv5178us laptop running windows 7 32-bit, after I downloaded the windows version 7 of it from hp site, it installs, but during the installation, I get an error message saying login average with administrator rights before you install HP Support Assistant. I am the only user of the pc and I use the administrator account, so I want to know what's the problem here; I really need to get the wizard of support at work because my pc has many outdated drivers.

I was getting the newspaper even with administrator rights after having downloaded the file Wizard help SP54620 to install on my Mini-210. I had major problems after an automatic update Windows 7 a few days ago and I got uniinstalled Support Assistant and was going to reinstall to correct one of the many problems after the update from Windows 7. I found this file was already on my C: drive in the SwSetup folder. This file is the program HP set up files for the programs of HP that is installed at the factory. I opened the file SP5460 which was SwSetup folder, and click on the setup.exe file and got the same message from the administrator. I then noticed a msiinstaller.exe in the SP5460 folder and open that and installed the HP Support Assistant.

  • HP Support Assistant - uninstalled and reinstalled - now it does not work!

My HP Support Assistant stuck on Create Restore Point.   Well, I followed your instructions for which has been published in many other threads and uninstall HP Support Assistant and re-installed, and now it won't do anything.  It opens upward and the button FOLLOWING is not highlighted if I click it nothing happens... it's totally useless now.  What can I do to make it work again?  Help! (see image below - all I can do is minimize, maximize, or close the screen.  FORWARD button does nothing!)

My computer is only 1 year old and I run Windows 8-64 bit.  Never had a problem with it before, but tried the air upward and it got stuck about to restore, so I followed your instructions, rebooted after UN-installing and uninstall, now, it won't do anything.   I also tried to restore HP Support Assistant of the Recovery Manager and it's always the same: do nothing.  How can I get my updates now?

I have a HP Pavilion p6 2310.  I have installed Windows 8.1, it is fair to Windows 8.  Thank you.

Never mind... I fixed it myself.  I did a system restore before I uninstalled and reinstalled HP Support Assistant yesterday and now it works again!

  • HP Support Assistant upgrade and now do not work

So my HP Support Assistant detected an automatic upgrade to my current program, and he noted as IMPORTANT. After you apply the update, I now have an error that displays "Error of Application - HPSF_Utils.exe" "the application could not start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application. »

I don't understand it's very exasperating, I hit OK and the program still running but its totally screwed, I text is missing and white buttons are not working. I uninstalled the HP Support Assistant and returned on the HP site and download the drivers for my laptop HP specific and downloaded the latest version and once again the error has occurred. It's very frustrating!

When I open HP Support Assistant (in response to the message) it loads OK and when I press NEXT on the Welcome screen I get the homepage with a choice of 8 plates to the choice. Tile "updates and the updates" indicates that it is 'Important Update available' and when I click on the tile that will display the page 'updates & tune-up' with a total of 5 important updates selected for download.  However, that's all - none of the other links on this page responds to a click of the mouse and the button "Download & install" appears to be grey and has no reaction when clicked.

Can someone out there please help?

    Longframbri

Lets start with you help us by identifying your laptop completely.

HP has made and sold more than a thousand different models of laptops and desktops over the years. It is difficult to help you if we don't know which specific model you own...

Method #1: If the laptop boots into Windows, you can retrieve your product number by pressing Fn + ESC key.

    Method #2:
Remove the battery and look in the compartment where the battery was installed. You should see a Service number with the printed part number and product name. Thanks for posting the p/n (with all alphanumeric characters) here. If you live outside of North America, it helps us if you post the country of purchase.  Also post the CPU type and prepare operating system installed. (AMD or Intel). P/n in the following image is the number of the product.

Your description of the issue would seem to indicate that an uninstall of the HP Support Assistant and the installation of the latest version would be a good starting point.

  • How can I stop HP Support Assistant from loading at startup?

I have a Pavilion dvt6 running Win7 (x 64). Whenever I start my computer, the HP Support Assistant appears in the lower left of the screen. While I'm not interested in the uninstall wizard, I am not interested in having run every time that I start. I joined the service and disabled the HP Support Assistant, and I see the related .exe (hpsa_service.exe) file in my task as a process manager. Is there another process that I need to disable (or change) to close the wizard at startup, or a specific setting in the wizard for help I can to avoid any start-up start-up?

Hey darkhorse123 - I think I solved the problem! Window Wizard of decision-making support for would leap me upward by a few minutes after I started. My first thought was that it was because the Support Assistant was configured as a delayed start service, but no luck. However, today, after doing more research on the file, I came across a post at random - nothing to do with HP - but that seems to have targeted the cause - the Task Scheduler.

I checked my task scheduler and noticed that the HP Support Assistant Quick Start task has been configured to run three minutes after I booted the laptop. Coincidence with the pop-up calendar? Probably not! I changed the setting that I hope it worked.

To change the Task Scheduler settings, go to control panel > administrative tools > Task Scheduler. Open the items on the left (click on the arrow next to the Task Scheduler Library and the HP folder, and then click the folder Support Assistant). All tasks related to the Support Wizard should open on the top right of the screen. [If you do not see the triggers for each, click on each, then the trigger tab in the lower window]. Right-click on each that has a trigger, you want to change (including all tasks that start at startup...), and then click "Properties". Click on the tab 'Triggers' to the bottom of the tab is a button "Edit". Click on, and then change the setting to 'Begin task' all that is right for you. There is no "Never" setting, so if you just want to run the task manually, disable the button "Activate" at the bottom of the window.

I'm guessing that disable the HP Support Assistant simply prevents to start his own - and apparently this isn't the wizard that opens the pop-up window is the Task Scheduler runs Quick Start, that's why we had so much trouble. I restarted my laptop twice now and no pop up window is the time! I'm cautiously optimistic...

If this solution works for you. If so, I'll mark it resolved. Good luck - I'm pulling for you.

You can always call HP Support Assistant manually and check to see if he tried to get your attention.

If you do not have the HPSA icon in your taskbar, then you can search the HPSA and start it:

Start > search / type "HP Support Assistant" > and then click on it to launch it.

    See 'maintenance'...

    • Click in the Section 'Tune Up' > display settings > Notification settings >
    • and see how you have your Notifications implemented, you can change the settings if you like.

    After checking:

If you think that the message has been sent to you by "something other" than HPSA, run a scan in depth on your computer to eliminate infections or any malware as possible.   Use your best protection antivirus and Windows Defender to start.
