  If I scan everything straight to a USB stick plugged into the printer it works OK but scan documents as a picture and crops, more it only scans one page and then save it.

  In the Adobe Reader dialog box print, press the "Advanced" button and check the option "Print as Image".

  Please complete the steps below...

  1. Turn the printer off.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  3. Wait 30 seconds, then plug the power cord and power on the printer.
  4. Press the right arrow and select "CONFIGURE."
  5. Press tools.
  6. Then press the clean print head
  7. Then press "align printer.

  Note: You may need to run step 6 for 2 times if the problem persists.

  If you are simply trying to select an image file, right click and select send to/recipient of the message, it will not work if you are using the default Windows 8 App Mail.

  You must have a Desktop Email program is installed to do this, such as Windows Live Mail, which is part of the Windows Essentials range.

  To attach the image using Windows 8 Mail App, open the Mail application and select new email message.

  Click on the paper clip icon in top/right (attachments).

  Navigate to the folder where the image is stored and Select the file.

  Click the button to join at the bottom of the screen.

  This will attach the file to the new email.

  I want to help you with this. I understand that you get a message stating "Scan cannot be performed because another program or computer uses the network device", and you've done some troubleshooting already.

  I suggest to use the following document to help you solve this problem. "Scan cannot be performed because another program or computer uses the network device" message on the computer in Windows XP and Vista when scanning a network.

  When you open the link, select Windows Vista, the recommended steps will apply to the 8.1 you have. Keep in mind the navigation will be different, but the solutions are the same.

  As you use this printer with Windows 7 and there is no software for your printer that supports Windows 7, you will not be able to scan using the front of the printer.  This document shows which buttons will you and will not work with Windows 7.  This document will show you how to scan from the computer without the software being installed.  Hope that helps.

  I can't find any question about scanning on this product, I want to post a picture of my screen, but can't. This occurs when you try to scan anything.   I do not usually bother with these sites, but since I seem to be the only person who knows the solution for application error settings driver with scanners I should share it. I went through three Microsoft technicians and they were at a loss. They usually end by saying that I have installed a bad iso image and need to download a new one and reinstall. But anywho the fix is... run your registry editor and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StillImage and remove the key from the photo don't worry it will be recreated with the key parameters appropriate because the pilot he rewrites and there you go no scanner error more I have to add that I am on win 10 x 64 with a Canon mp280 printer , but this should apply to windows 7 and upwards.

  This device is quite an old device, however if your 10 read windows, its great!

  You can maybe try the HP scan & capture software, or capture him windows embeded 10 image.

  Try windows Fax and scan or microsoft paint, sp that you save the files and then print.

  I hope that gives you another idea.

  Please check the ppp settings configured by the operating system, such as the HP software does support 100% DPI:

  1. Right-click on an empty area of your desktop and click on personalize. 
  2. To the lower left corner, click on the link of the display. 
  3. In the left pane, click Custom text size (DPI). 
  4. Make sure that the DPI value is set to 100%
  5. Restart your computer and try to scan the image.

  Same thing for me.  I called HP about it the first time I tried I scans a document when my printer was 7 days old.  I was connected with the service to customers in India.  The technician spent about an hour with me trying to get the 6510/6515 printer to work, even to take control of my new 64 bit Windows 7 core i7 notebook.  Ultimately she essentially told me that even if it is announced to scan documents, this really means that each page is a separate document.  In other words, this printer, as well as all other issues, it is will only scan one page at a time.
