image interrupted backup

I did an image backup of my computer.  After 30 discs, I had to turn off my computer, thinking that the next time he could remember where I stopped.  He did not.  Does this mean that my 30 disks are wasteful?

Hi mrbestbuy. I think you will have to start the backup process. What program did you use to make the backup with?

    Hello

He is a 2012 Macbook mid Pro with El Capitan and Bootcamp.

After repeated with Bootcamp (Windows 10 Pro) problems I started using Image of Terabyte for Linux in order to safeguard this Macbook. Forums terabyte that people know that the Image of Linux (such as Image for Windows) is able to create a reliable backup, but also to restore - restore an entire disk image or restoring individual partitions.

I followed their instructions precisely and activated the two options "restore first Beach" and "TPG hidden OS" (as one terabyte official, Member of the forum wrote) when restoring a partition.

Unfortunately, it did not work! Bootcamp was no longer visible in the start screen or wasn't visible, but not start.

What I found was that I had to keep the two options (see above) with DISABILITIES.

Then I could restore some partition images - and 10 Windows in Bootcamp is bootable.

Well, it was the long introduction.  I'm sorry.

    Now my question is:

Is this something that has changed my partition table?

Before restoring an Image for backup of Linux for the first time, I had this partition table:

    localhost: ~ root # fdisk/dev/disk0

    Disk: geometry / dev/disk0: 60801/255/63 [976773168 sectors]

    Signature: 0xAA55

    BUT:

After failed attempts to restore and work finally restore my partition table operation is different:

    Fdisk/dev/disk0

    Disk: geometry / dev/disk0: 60801/255/63 [976773168 sectors]

Everything seems to work fine, but I wonder if the different appearance of the partition table can be a problem?

    For example, compare:

In Fdisk, the CHS numbers are arbitrary on modern disks. They are the time of BIOS and old disks with CHS geometry. Puts BCA from Mac 0-1023 (1024 cylinders), 0-255 (256 heads) and 0-63 (64 sectors). Modern disks far exceed those numbers and would drain them. Must match what is the triplet of start/end/size and it fits in GPT and MBR. You can put arbitrary 0,0,0 for CHS and you will see all issues on GPT disks.

Please do not use TBIL to restore W10 to circa 1970-80 disks.

  • Is it possible to exclude some discs of the VCB image-level backups?

I have VCB with Backup Exec 12 running successfully.  Image and at the level of the backup files work as expected.  However, I have a server with a large data volume (more than one terabyte) that I would be able to exclude at the Image level backups, using only at the level of the files or any other means to back it up.  It's possible?  A thought I had was to configure the volume in physical rather than virtual compatibility mode.  Thoughts?  Recommendations?

    Thanks in advance.

A RAW device in mode physikal will not be saved in the VCB. I do it with our databases that reside on the RAW devices in the SAN, and I don't want that they are backed up with VCB. So, it is definitely possible.

  • Problems with the interrupted backup

I need your help. I have Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit. I back up my computer (I used 17 8.5 GB DVD), and moved to my computer, it came a message that the last backup is not closed. I tried to take over the task, but I came across the message that tell me to insert disk # 1, who assume that the system could be restart the entire backup process. My question is if there is a way to resume the backup from the point of interruption?

When the backup to removable media is no option or a way to force the backup to a failure during the backup.  You have to start all over again.

  • Move the Windows Backup system image and backup to a new hard disc

    Hi all

I got a new external hard drive because my old external hard drive was not large enough to hold all my backups.  Now, I would like to move the backup from the old hard drive to the new hard drive.  It is really easy to start from scratch on the new drive, but about two months ago of backup history on the old disk I want to keep if I can.  Also, I can't figure this out on my own because it seems that the backups are stored in hidden or system files, or which are prohibited and require special authentication.

Can someone help me find the location of the backups on my old hard drive?  Or is there something I should do in Windows that will transfer the data for me?

    Thank you very much!

    Kevin

The name of the folder that store all backups of your image is: X:\WindowsImageBackup\

Where X: is the drive letter of the external drive.

If you also created backups of files and folders these are also easily spotted. If for some reason you can't locate/view this file enable "Show hidden folders and files" in Windows Explorer.

  • You can use a single hard drive to store an image disk backup and restore for multiple computers?

I have a couple of computers that I recently installed Win7 on. As soon as I do an install I always do a backup image is preparing for the worst. Do I need a separate hard drive for each computer that I do a backup or image can I put all my images on a hard drive backup? I already have two separate a HDs different images, but would like to have them all in one place. I already tried a straight copy of an image to HAND HD I would use like, but without success. Is this possible or do I really a backup image HD?

Depends on what you use for backup.  in General, you need not to have a picture in HD.

Personally, I like acronis true image home 2012 (free trial) because it is flexible, easy to use and workjs each time.

    Hello

You shouldn't see any problems even if the migration of VM using vMotion. But Storage vMotion while backup may cause a backup failure. However a subsequent backup storage vMotion position will succeed.

5.1, option of migration itself is disabled during the backup. This means that you will not be able to do a manual migration of virtual machines, while the backup is in progress. However this does not affect the VMS DRS automated clustered

  • WLC Backup Version vs Recovery Image Version field

Anyone know the difference between the Version of the backup and the version of the Image field of the recovery of the IOS on a WLC? I have recently updated my WLC 5508 to the new code and the version of backup is infact the previous active version I was running but the field recovery Image version is now the previous backup version. I was wondering what the differences were. Is the FRIV a backup for the backup? Thank you.

    Chris.

The field recovery Image, it's what you get when you interrupt the boot process.  The backup image, as you noted, is the last image you upgraded.

So if you are running 6.0.196.0 and upgrade to 7.2.130.0, 6.0.196.0 will be the image of "backup."  If you hit the CLI and boot config backup.  During the next restart the WLC will mount on 6.0.19.60(though il est toujours considéré comme sauvegarde et 7.2 sera «primaire»)

  • System drive Qosmio G20 with an image or a clone backup

On another thread, I asked problems with Acronis True Image to backup and cloning of my system (C) disk. Whenever I'm trying to clone my system disk or recover an image, I can create and restore the image, but when I install the player recreated and tries to start, I get as much "windows did not start successfully, I would like to start in safe mode... last good config known... or normal. All the options to return to the screen.

I have two drives 100 GB sata, with the first disc of the op system, programs and the second with my data and therefore has set up the raid as two independent disks and the raid console option disabled.

After trying another product of cloning with the same result, I guess there is something in the Qosmio implemented that is the cause. I read that Qosmio Player is installed on a hidden partition of Linux on the system drive and am wondering if it may not be picked up by the cloning and imaging software and that may cause boot failure.

So I have two questions. First of all, nobody knows why I might be problems starting from a clone or recovery using third party disk image backup software and second, anyone successfully upward and restore a G20 Qosmio Player system, and if so with what software and do you perform all the special functions.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

Well, I use the Toshiba Recovery CD to restore the operating system on the Qosmio G20.
It has also 2 x 100 GB, but under my computer, I saw only one a HARD drive. I created 2 partitions with the ghost (second option on the recovery CD).
However, I have now 2 partitions but after this procedure, the Qosmio player has been removed. I though that I need to install again simply because of the Qosmio player but I tried to install the Qosmio player after the recovery procedure and it has been successfully.

2 existing partitions and I also have a Qosmio player on my laptop.
But one thing is very strange; I can't locate the partition in disk management.
    But everything works ok

  • Burning Image files of DVD on Qosmio G20 using Norton Ghost backup?

    Hello

I have Norton SystemWorks Premier which includes Ghost v.10. Try as I might, I can't burn an Image of my hard drive to the DVD Ghost v.10 is supposed to be compatible with RAID-0, which I use. The drive from DVD-RAM UJ-845 s is listed as being supported by ghost.

The image is quite small... can't remember the exact size (less?), but it's just the BONE more office and some other applications, so that windows and update Office 80 or more required after reinstalling the recovery disc. There is no user files (Docs, films, music, etc.) which I backup by simply copying to DVD. I have no problem burning the Image file on my drive C: (which would be pretty useless in a collision).

Norton Support led me through the hoops, with no resolution. They suggest that I have buy third-party DVD burning software (Nero is their recommendation) to burn the Image of the c: to DVD, or buy a USB hard drive and see if it works. What a COP out!

I wonder if anyone has had any chance of burning the Images to backup directly to DVD with Ghost, Acronis, etc.. It seems to be a necessity when the Image on the recovery disk is now hopelessly obsolete (and loaded with stuff I don't want or need).

    Any advice will be appreciated.

    Hi Allan

You are not able to burn this image on a DVD because of the size of the image!
The 10 GB are too! The DVD runs approximately 4.7 GB and you will not be able to burn 10 GB on the DVD.

I created a file of image on the second partition, and if something goes wrong I can restore the partition C all from the D partition where saving the image file.

  • Cannot specify a different location for multiple-image backups.

I want to record several image files on an external drive (which can contain a large amount of data)... It was suggested to specify a different location for the second image... but when I run the process of backup image... first a screen shows my external drive where the image will be stored... but then the screens seem to just continue to do a backup. I don't see any place where I can change the location of the image... It keeps on the re-write on the last saved... image I think that maybe you can change the location of the regular backups... but not for the image file... its on another screen or buried somewhere... the help screen with "attention, images can be replaced" is meaningless for me... I thought he said that it would only replace old images if there is not enuf room on the disc.

With this option, below is where you can make changes.
Select the drive to destination or optical disk or network location to store backup files. (this is where I want to change the destination directory name).

  • What is the procedure how to make my system image backup and data through Windows NAS Server?

I work the iMac with bootcamp for Windows 7 - Home Premium.

I want to return to the system image and data etc. of the 'Windows Back up and Restore' to my Synology NAS (network attached storage). When I do the setting changes, I could not find the option to connect to the NAS, but have only the offer to connect to the external hard drive.

    (1) the 'Windows Back up and Restore' allows to connect to the NAS for the back of my files, in particular for the iamge system? If not, any other method to make the back upward, especially for the system image?

  • Cannot restore the system image backup in Windows 7

    Hello

Im trying to use the recovery process of Win7 system standard Image for the first time and its does not work.  I'm recovering the image on my hard C primary, internal to the system drive.  I backed up correctly a Win7 system on an external hard drive image.  To restore I connect in the Control Panel on my system (still ongoing) and select the advanced option to retrieve my disc image.  The process stops then the pc and it restarts automatically.  Then he finished "Windows loading files...". "Then I select my keyboard for data entry, click ok.   Then the process correctly detects and automatically selects my last image of backup on the external drive system.    The next step begins the problem.

The option 'delete existing partitions to reformat the drive... '. "is grayed out and inaccessible.  The only other option is: "install the drivers for the drives, you are restoing to... could solve the problem."  Also, "insert media for the device and click OK to install the drivers." I have a new HP Pavilion Desktop with Wn7-64 bit and HP has its own recovery on C partition and there is also another unknown partition (to me) it.  I was provided the only brackets installtion / have the HP recovery disk and the recovery of Win7 boot floppies that I burned after buying oringal.  Therefore, I select the button Install Drivers with no media of installtion and I see the Windows/System32/drivers folder. I can only select one driver at a time, I tried what I thought were the pilots of C - IE disk.sys, partmgr.sys, snapman.sys and tdrpm.sys and all of them return the error msg "specific location contains no information about your hardware."  I also tried to use the two recovery discs that I burned, but they resulted in a similarly generic error message.

Drive C is very well so I am at a huge loss as to what the standard restore process of the operationg system image is looking for and why missing drivers for drive C?  Can someone please explain what this process needs so I can restore the system image?

    Thank you, roggsf

FYI... I was able to recover my Win7 System Image by using the external backup and the ERD of Win7.  I am now more confident that backups of the system can be invoked in the event of a disaster.

The process was/is still a bit confusing because it faced the same problems with the possibility of "remove existing divides to reformat the drive" grayed out and inaccessible.  And the other option: "install the drivers for the drives, you are restoing to... could solve the problem" is still a mystery to me.  However, using the repair disk, I was able to bypass the need to use one of these two options, click Next, and start and finish the process of recovering successfully.

I hope that someone will be examine and solve problems with recovery only the Panel since it is the recommended approach (to a working system).  I'm a happy computeree once more.  Thanks for the suggestion.

  • Accessibility of the previous backup Image of RMAN copy after roll forward with the additional days

    Hi all

I have these 2 questions related to RMAN Image backups. Please suggest the best approaches...

We are in publishing Standard of Oracle 11.2.0.3 database on instances of RAC ASM on Windows 2008 and want to see the feasibility of using Copies of RMAN images for our databases.

Have a question about the availability of backups for restoration in a scenario explained below:

    1ST QUARTER)

To get copies of the Image which are rolled to the next incremental backup. Can we still restore/recovery to earlier date than the Image backup before rolls? If not, please suggest

What is the best way to accomplish this task if we choose RMAN COPY of IMAGE as our backup strategy.

    Example:

    Log archiving is enabled.

Sunday evening: full level 0 backup copy Image

Monday night: 1) level 1 incremental Image copy backup and Roll-forward/apply the incremental backup for the full backup from Sunday

    (2) backup of files to archive log after the full backup from Sunday.

Tuesday evening: 1) level 1 incremental Image copy backup and Roll-forward/apply the incremental backup for roll Monday transferred (full) backup.

    (2) backup of files to archive log after incremental backup from Monday.

Wednesday evening: 1) level 1 incremental Image copy backup and Roll-forward/apply the incremental backup to roll Tuesday transferred (full) backup.

    (2) backup of files to archive log after incremental backup on Tuesday.

Can we restore and recover the data until Tuesday morning 11:00 even if our full backups are rolled transferred by the application of incremental backups. Please suggest

What is the best way to accomplish this task if we choose RMAN COPY of IMAGE as our backup strategy.

    Q2)

Q2.a) Scenario 2: with above politics of backup in the 1st quarter.

If I intend to use the copy of current Image backup on WEDNESDAY NIGHT for the recovery and restoration on-site. understand that

We're losing backup of forwded for the roll of Wednesday night. Is it possible to take a backup/backup copy of this Wednesday night before being used for on-site recovery, so that we can use it

    for all future restorations.

    Q2.b)

If we are unable to take backup of the night't Wednesday backup before being used for the recovery on the spot. We can always access backup Image roll passed Tuesday night? If so, can

I take a new incremental Image copy backup Thursday night and roll forward/apply to copy backup Image Tuesday night. Please suggest the best approach to have accessible backups for each night?

    Thank you

    Hello

I suggest that postpone differentials apply for a week as says Hemant.

    for example:

    grab the copy of database with tag = "incremental_update" until ' SYSDATE-7 "; ". "

    1 extra strength to recover from backup with tag = "incremental_update" database;
