IPS with VEI monitor?

Got notified that we must improve our IDS 4.1 to IPS 5.0.

We currently use Cisco VEI to monitor the IDs. We can use VEI to monitor IPS or do we need anything else?

Find info on cisco.com is like a [email protected] / * / treasure hunt.

Hello Tscislaw,

We went through the same routine a few months. Yes, you can still use VEI with IPS 5.1.x. just go to the link http://www.cisco.com/kobayashi/sw-center/ciscosecure/ids/crypto/ - which is the page of Cisco Secure Software Software Center (downloads). Go inside and find the software section management and network IDS monitoring. You will find the event ID (VEI) for IPS v5.x Viewer.

This version works fine with the new IPS v5.1.x software. There are even a few improvements such as a tab 'reports' next to "views" and "filter" tabs in the lower left corner of the Console of VEI.

There are two things that are different. One, the help files are the same as v4.1. Cisco working on their update. Second, the fields in the export file. VEI 5.1 fun is no longer the local date/time code unix readable date and time columns. You must be aware of this, if you try to export the csv file in Excel. Cisco TAC has a number of bugs for this. A human readable date and time field will be added in v5.2 VEI (6) according to them. This will help a lot in creating ad hoc reports in the file export (as many people with v4.1).

Hope that answers your question.

  • HP Envy 23 display: no sound: Macbook Pro (retina) with HP monitor

I just got a HP Envy 23 monitor to use with my Macbook Pro of retina and so far it has been a serious struggle. The problem, I'm focusing on today is healthy. The monitor has a headphones Jack Beats Audio. Headphones are connected but my Macbook claims 'the selected device has no exit controls' and there is no sound at all. The monitor and the laptop are connected via an HDMI cable. What is the problem? I don't want to return to the screen, but it seems that I could roll up to spend hundreds of dollars on cables and Adaptateures to find the right combination to get a clear picture and sound. Ugh.

Thank you for any help or advice.

Here is the manual for a HP ENVY 23 IPS monitor, which may be the one in question or just a similar but reading of the record, I believe that there can be no speakers.  By reading the description, it could lead the user to assume there are speakers: "HP ENVY 23 23 inch IPS LED Backlit Monitor with Beats Audio" but it must just be a thing of audio processing.

  • HP Pavilion a6600f desktop PC communicates only with the monitor

Our bureau a6600f HP Pavilion PC (with OS 64 - bit Windows Vista) has stopped communicating with his monitor.

The start process seems to work for 7-8 seconds before stopping.  We can hear the fans and CD unit turn during this period.  There is no warning beeps.

We went from monitors to exclude a monitor problem. Both have two monitors, that we have given to the case put off until the boot process - which may indicate no comments received.

We tried to reset the BIOS blindly in accordance with the instructions provided for elsewhere in this forum.  We also tried to boot from a CD without success.  Please notify.

Once the boot sequence was not even initializing, I realized, I discovered the solution.  A simple search online for 'black screen' and 'no boot' leads to results multiple problems related to the integrated NVIDIA gpu chip.

The chip is apparently subject to overheating to the point where its connective solder may melt and break its link with the motherboard.  This issue mainly comes in laptops because of the sealed enclosure, but it has been reported also occur in models of office such as ours.

This broken link results in a black screen and an inability to boot into the BIOS.  Several of these instances have been diagnosed wrongly that the motherboards 'failed '.  Fortunately, there's a fix called "reinvest."   It comes down to warm up the chip gpu to the point where his welding redéroule reconnect the loose pins.

Some repair shops are fully aware of this problem and offer to repair it for about $80 at present.  Some DIY Laptop owners have also posted videos online in order to document how they have reorganized their own chips using a variety of means.

I decided to take the road of this last, warm our chip NVIDIA gpu with a heat gun using a heat shield to protect surrounding components of the motherboard.  My attempt to reflow works perfectly, so I handed in thermal sinks the gpu with some thermal paste expenses place to finish the job.

To summarize the question, our desktop HP Pavilion a6600f PC lost communication with his chip gpu NVIDIA Geforce 7100 integrated due to the chip overheat and melt its connective solder.  This broken link compromised the ability of the motherboard to initialize its startup sequence, which gives no output to the screen, resulting in a screen empty.  A new graphics card does not resolve the issue, given that the motherboard was inoperative because of the connective issue with the gpu chip built-in.  Reinvest the gpu chip has solved the problem.

  • Satellite A500 - problem with the monitor after restoration

    Hello
I have a Satellite A500. He has a problem with the monitor for a while, when you turn it on it's all lines etc. and you can not read but once the laptop to boot completely it is fine. My problem is that I wanted to do a restore, but I couldn't because the screen problem it started so I plugged into an external monitor and perform the restore. That has worked well.

But now the laptop recognizes any my laptop screen. When you go to view it offers no other monitor choice other than external, I used for the restoration. I downloaded the display driver but nothing has changed.
    ANY IDEAS?

    Thank you

(I have the disks for the restoration, if that helps.)

    > There a problem with the monitor for a while, when you turn it on it's all lines etc. and you can't read
If I understand you right you can see when laptop starts and you see Toshiba welcome screen. Is this good?
When you enter the BIOS settings you see thise lines too?

Later, when you see the desktop on the external monitor, you can use the FN + F5 key combination to switch between an LCD and external monitor. Please try to use it and post comments if it works or not.

What operating system do you use?

  • I am trying to connect a Macbook Pro with Retina display for a new monitor Dell Ultrasharp 3014. I tried to connect via HDMI and DVI cable supplied with the monitor but the monitor says "no cable dvi - d".

How to connect a Macbook Pro with the (just bought) Retina display for a Dell Ultrasharp U3014's new? I tried to connect with HDMI and DVI cable supplied with the monitor but the monitor says "no dvi - d" cable. I never tried to do that before so I'm lost.

Use a mini-displayport cable. Connect to one of the ports Thunderbolt the MacBook Pro to ultra-compact monitor entry.

  • Power cord IPS L: Hp monitor 23 inch HP Pavilion 23xw does not take to the office?

Good so I recently bought a new desktop computer HP and monitor, but does not have the cord that connects the monitor to the computer (I think that's what we call a vga?) or I guess that is not compatible.

The office, I ordered is a P5Q80AV of HP ENVY 750 #ABA_1 desktop PC
This is what looks like the back of it, and I guess the part surrounded by a circle is where I would plug the power cord of the monitor to the computer?

The monitor is a HP Pavilion 23xw 23 inch IPS LED backlit monitor J7Y75AA #ABA
    It's the rope

Am I missing something here, or do I have to return this and buy another monitor? Where can I get something else that will connect the monitor to the computer?

I apologize if this sounds stupid, I'm just not tech savy.

Your graphics card HDMI, it seems that your monitor is also.

So, you can use an HDMI cable to connect your PC to your monitor.

Or you will need a VGA adapter DVI [masculine] [man].

The top connector is DVI - D [Dual Link] and only supports digital displays.

The lower connector is DVI - I [double link] and support a display either analog or digital.

  • Y510P 59405664: Dockingstatin available, even with three monitors?

    Hello

I am about to replace my desktop and laptop system with the IdeaPad Y510P 59405664 as the two-in-one-solution. So: is there a docking station for this idea which is able to manage the following specifications?

    • mechanical keyboard via PS/2 (not an absolute must, but would be great)
    • mouse via USB
    • audio via RCA
    • three monitors
    • Gigabit ethernet

I hope that it is possible, even with three monitors. In my current setup of PC desktop, I use three monitors, too. The reason I think that it should be possible is that this IdeaPad has the internal CPU graphics (NVS), who can manage a monitor, and the second dedicated graphics card GT750 that should be able to handle additional monitors. All monitors are monitors FHD (1920 x 1080).

If there is No docking station available that can handle three monitors, is it possible to work with DisplayPort or something like that? I have not worked with DisplayPort, so I don't know what is possible.

I appreciate every response that is useful to me :-)

There is no docking station on the y510p

  • Remote Desktop on pc with 2 monitors, programs previously open on the second monitor does not show

Using remote connection to a system with two monitors

At work, I have a Windows XP Pro SP3 system with two screens.  Sometimes, I work from home using my PC at home to connect to the network through a VPN and logging remotely and then in my work computer.  When I launch a program that last turned on my secondary screen to work, it is not visible at home because the remote access connection supports only one (primary) view.  The same thing happens with pop-up in applications, for example a search window.  If the last time I used search in Word, I moved the contextual search to the secondary display window, so I can't see the search engine remote access connection using from home.  Some of these pop-up windows have no menu on them to minimize, maximize, move, and close so there is (apparently) no shortcut to open this menu

If a tab of the window appears in the taskbar at the bottom of the Windows desktop, I can right click on it and a popup menu will appear. I then click on move, then left click of the mouse and start dragging until the window off the screen starts to appear on my primary display.  However some windows have no popups menus when I right click on their tab taskbar so I can't select move.  Others have no tab that appears for them in the taskbar.

Is it possible to move such a window to my primary remote access connection screen without being able to see it?

If not, is there a way to move my work computer to screen single operation of the House using to access remote connection so that all windows appear on the main display?

    Thank you!

Don't know if it will work, but it's worth a try...

Try a right-click in an open in the tray area and then select the "Cascade Windows" option in the context menu.

You can also try to move by pressing Alt-space on the keyboard and then the key M. is the equivalent of a "move".  Then use the left or right arrow key to move the window in the view.

Whenever I plug the big one HDMI, he succeeded to the main screen and does not allow me to make the smaller monitor the primary monitor. This is because the primary monitor option is grayed out and I can't check it. So far, I am aware of the vista updates and also up-to-date with the graphics drivers. Any help would be appreciated. HI - can anyone confirm that the DELL XPS 8700 desktop computer is compatible with the monitor Samsung Syncmaster 2232.

Already, I have the monitor, but need a new processor unit.

    Hi yydelilah,

The monitor has VGA and DVI ports.

By default, XPS 8700 comes with HDMI and display port.  If the system is configured with a discrete card, and this card has DVI/VGA port, you will be able to connect to this monitor.

  • RDP to machine with multiple monitors, preserve the application position

    Dear community

I have a Windows 7 Pro machine in my office with 2 monitors. I have my apps positioned on these two monitors.

Of the House, I use RDP to connect to this computer. My RDP supported a single window, applications appears in this window.

If I disconnect the RDP session, my desktop computer remains connected. I connect back to the office, and my apps will automatically go to their 'proper' again monitor.

It's all a great feature, which means that I can't move my apps around again once I am back in the office.

My colleague has the same configuration, but it has 6 monitors at the office.

Following the same logic from above, I would expect applications to their selected monitor, but appears not to be the case.

Does anyone know if there are limits here?

    Kind regards

    Thank you for your help.

This is a common problem with IPS and is easily fixed.

The IPS uses a self-signed certificate for the protection of its channels of management TLS (Transport Layer Security). When an IPS is initialized who signed a certificate is valid for two years. This certificate is separate from the ASA RSA key.

To regenerate, please see the procedure described here.

  • 4235 with multiple monitoring Interfaces?

This is a general question as to whether anyone is running on 4.0 4235 sensor code with multiple monitoring interfaces?

Basically, I wonder if you have any comments on the performance or if you run into any problems with the configuration. I have not seen too much documentation for configuration in fact this, so I wonder if there are additional requirements or considerations.

    Hi Chad,

With ID 4.0, you can only montior using an interface to sniff. 4.1 you will have taken care of multiple monitoring interfaces.

As far as performance goes, I don't see any problems and more to ensure that the management station is able to handle the upcoming alarms when using several interfaces.

    Thank you
