Issue of Pro 6100 satellite about the RTC battery

I know it's a huge topic which will be discussed on, and my Toshiba is screwed. I even did a lot of research and found it disappointing that my Toshiba may not be repairable, but I have a question;

When I boot my Toshiba, it looks good, and I can run normal programs (I get the error of bad RTC battery), but for some reason, the Toshiba randomly freezes and I have to stop it after 5 to 20 minutes to use me.

I tried to leave it on, as some other forum topics proposed to charge the bettery RTC and it went okay, then 20 minutes later, it froze and I had to reboot.

Sometimes it is not still turn just after that I have forcefully arrested, so I have to wait from hours to days so he can go back on. But it's useless cause it hangs again.

Any input on it's great and I'll take advice for this problem. I want the RTC battery but it keeps freezing on me, if I want to find a way to prevent this. Thank you!

PS: ASP Toshiba Theres two locations in my city (Markham, Ontario, Canada), so if all else fails, I'll take the laptop with my father at one of these places.

Hello

If you want to reload the RTC battery you don t need boot up the laptop.
You can simply connect the AC adapter to the laptop and allow it to charge for a piece of 8 to 12 hours.

The freezing issue for me sounds like an overheating problem. This can happen because of the dust and debris inside the laptop. In such cases, cooling modules may not work correctly.
In case you I recommend first charging the RTC battery (don t need to turn on the device), then to clean the fans (you can use carefully vacuuming).
If the laptop freezes then you could try to reinstall the operating system.

If all of these tips n help so you should ask the ASP for the verification of the laptop.

    Thank you

I put t know exactly the place of the RTC battery, but you should see if you Remover keyboard and lid.
To remove the RTC battery you need to disconnect the cable from the connector PJ8490 on the system board RTC battery and then Peel the insulators and remove the RTC battery.

But note: When replacing the RTC battery, be sure to use genuine battery or spare batteries allowed by Toshiba. Battery wrong installation may cause a battery explosion, or other damage.

PS: Just for the record: the RTC battery recharge takes about 8 hours

  • Satellite A65-S126: could not find the RTC battery

I have my machine down, but cannot find the batteries to replace. Based on the support from Toshiba, the P/N is P000444350, but there is none of these things where I can see. Any ideas... ?

Even disassembling online manuals do not show them.
I know that there must be something here.
According to the operating instructions these batteries takes advantage of the power of the main battery.

My main battery is completely dead, would that account for the issuance of SNYC of time I'll have with the RTC batteries; because they receive no power to recharge?

Sorry for my misunderstanding but what battery do you mean exactly.
Do you mean the main battery or tiny RTC battery that attaches to the motherboard?

    > Also according to the operating instructions these batteries take the power of the main battery.
    That is not quite right.

The RTC battery provides power to the motherboard with internal clock and the BIOS can run 24/7.
There no matter if the main battery is empty. The RTC must the motherboard for several times as if the main battery is empty.

If the RTC battery is empty the motherboard may not be supplied with power and the clock, BIOS will be reset to zero.

In this case, you need to connect the main battery and the adapter to the laptop and leave the charge the battery for 12 hours.

  • Satellite A40-211: RTC battery is low or CMOS checksum is inconsistent

    Hello

I bought a functioning Satellite A40 - 211 of one of my friends, who had a defective model A60 from where I took the fast hard drive, the memoryupgrade and the internal wifi card, but the only annoying on the A40-211 new thingie is the message that the RTC battery is low or CMOS is incompatible whenever the laptop is turned off and turned on again (which also happens when a warm reboot is done)

After checking the laptop for any other problem (there was none), I decided to replace the RTC battery with a new... about 17,-euros in total cost. (Of the disassemble the whole laptop, but it has more than once 100 or so with other models, takes 15 minutes to disassemble and put them all back again once)
Did charge it new CCF to power the laptop up and leave it for at least 24 hours... (the manual says to do)

No results... always the same... boring message.

I also tried to reflash the bios, but the version 1.50 seems ok and cannot be replaced by the programming software.

So, we have a good laptop to work here, but with an annoying message that cannot be solved?

    Anyone with a good tip?

OK, a response to myself, because I've been tracking something here...

I replaced the hard drive to another laptop (Satellite A60 series) to the A40-211... installing Windows could be transferred, since the IDE controllers are the same... then just install some other vga - and sounddrivers to operate...

But... somehow with the new hard drive and therefore installation, date/time settings are lost after a restart or power off...
I also discovered that the installation of 'old' will not go into sleep - or standbymode... it will only close...

Then. I'll make a recovery disk hard 'new' facility, because it is faster than the original that came with the A40.

I'll keep things updated here... also because this isn't a real solution to the question...

Now, the question is: what makes the time/date setting go lost after this laptop with a non-on-this-laptop-installed-OS off the power?

  • Satellite P100-423 - RTC battery replacement

Can anyone recommend a type satisfying to do this, no clue on the former.

    Thank you

    Hey,.

Are you sure that the RTC battery is replaceable?
I ask this question because as much as I know it is not possible on all s models and if it is replaceable you can find the specs on the battery itself if you disassemble the laptop.

Normally, this battery can be charged if you leave the AC/DC adapter plugged in for 24 hours. Have you already tried?

  • Satellite C855 - low RTC battery

Bought a brand new Satellite C855 7 months, now get a RTC battery low warning, every time I start, have to reset the date and time. The laptop battery says fully charged, but if I unplug the portable charger will turn off.

    > The laptop battery says fully charged, but if I unplug the portable charger will turn off.

This means that the main battery is empty and is probably damaged.
Empty main battery would affect the RTC battery too. So I think that you need to replace the main battery first and then the RTC battery for a longer period of time while the mobile computer is turned on.

The laptop seems to be covered by the warranty (if its 7 months) so the battery must be replaced in warranty conditions.

  • Satellite A45 - S121 RTC battery low or unstable CMOS

I have a Toshiba A45-S121 that I got from a friend who has left the country...
I keep going back to the same message over and over again and cannot activate it because it keeps doing again and again.

The message is: "RTC battery is low or CMOS checksum is inconsistent, press F1 to reset the date and time." It would have been great if it was, that I should have done, but at this stage no button does nothing, and the only thing I can do is to restart... I looked on the net, and someone said to recharge, the main battery for 8 hrs, will do... NOT.

Another said to rest with charger for 15 h and have the laptop on at the same time... NO help there.
Another was told to change the battery Cmos... Did this... NO help.

I tried F12 thing... the computer is located in the startup Toshiba logo, and as soon as I press another key, it goes back to this message... I can't do the BIOS, and I can't run it from a CD, until I have this message.

    HELP PLEASE.

    Hanks a lot.

    > The message is: "RTC battery is low or CMOS checksum is inconsistent, press F1 to reset the date and time." It would have been great if it was, that I should have done, but at this stage no button does nothing, and the only thing I can do is to restart

Usually this or similar message appears if the battery CMOS/RTC would be empty.
In this case, you should be able to solve this problem of the RTC battery.
    How to recharge?
The laptop must be turned on and connected to the power supply for approximately 24 hours.

But I see you've also already replaced the RTC battery and this message still appears.
In addition it seems that you are not able to access the BIOS to change the date/time settings.
Well, this would mean that there is a serious problem on the motherboard

I think that only a laptop computer technician would be able to help you.

  • Portege M100 - how to replace the RTC battery?

Hello, my Portege M100 RTC battery is flat. I managed to order one of the internet, but I can't locate. I disassemble almost every part of the computer, but if someone could just guide me and give the procedure to replace, that would be great. Thanks in advance!

    Hi friend

It s easy to replace the RTC battery on your machine. I already did and I had no problem when replacing, I mean it's a bit difficult to find the batt. but I will give all that to my experience. ;)

First look at the wireless lan card, West a slot under the slot lies the minipci wlan card. Near the wireless lan card slot is somewhat on the cover, this cover must be removed (quietly). The RTC battery is located in a white insulator, but before you peel this small battery, you must disconnect the battery from the motherboard. After unplugging it, simply lift the RTC and place a new.

That's all, unfortunately I can't serve you with some photos, so you'll have to imagine yourself. ;)

    Good luck and welcome

P.s.: If you feel uncomfortable by replacing the batt, then ask some tech to help you.

    Hi Paolotia,

I am trying to upgrade my old of Satellite Pro 6100.

I started to upgrade the Bios via download from Toshiba (using WIN) site - OK downloaded zip files and installed, machine then stops. Problem, it does not restart - it's so now I have a laptop 'death' that is not responding to any key I tried.

    Any suggestions of resuscitation?

Already I've updated from XP to SP2.

    Hello

It sounds like that the BIOS update has failed and your laptop can start t again. But try this workaround:
Remove the AC adapter and the battery and then wait an hour. After that reconnect the adapter AC/DC and battery. Try to start the laptop.

If it doesn t work I think that the motherboard needs to be replaced or you go to an authorized service provider. Technicians can reflash the ROM module
But maybe you can find a motherboard of second hand cheap on eBay

  • Satellite A40-S161: RTC battery low

    Hi guys,.

I need urgent help. I have a laptop, Toshiba Satellite A40-S161, which gives me the following error whenever I restart the machine "RTC battery is low or CMOS checksum is inconsistent."

I took the laptop to my local dealers who replaced the CMOS battery and advised me to leave the machine 'fees' for 6 hours [what I did], and the problem persists. Is there advice that I could follow to remedy the situation?

  • Can't separate the top cover to the base/motherboard to replace the RTC battery on laptop ZD8080US

I am trying to replace the RTC on a Pavillion ZD8080US battery.  I proceeded with disassembly in step 11, page 5-33 Maintenanceand Service of Guide.  I am now unable to separate the top cover from the rest of the laptop.

I can get the left side of the image of the base but even with what appears to be excessive force that I can't get the right separate about 1/4 "without making me concerned that I'll break the cover.   (The right side of the cover is folded about 10 degrees when I'm trying to force it).  I tried some jiggling and a few twists to see if that would open invisible conflicts but with no luck.  I used the tree of a screwdriver between the parties to try to increase the force.  All to nothing does not.

Coverage seems to be stuck/attached to a 4 "- 5" to the top on the right side.  It acts like a screw that has not been removed.  I don't see anything when I peer into the hole when the two parties are discarded.  Is there any adhesive which can be between the parties on the right side?

I examined the process of dismantling four times.  I counted the screws that came out.  I revamped to all the screw holes in the drawings and made sure there is no screws in the holes.

Am I missing something?  Is there a step or a comment has been omitted in the text?  Is there a screw hidden under the model or label of Windows?  Is there one thing that others have found to accomplish this separation?

I appreciate any help I can get.

    Thanks in advance.

After watching the video, it looks like you missed a few screws. (certainly enough of them _ typical HP)  HP laptops must be 'broken' even if all the screws have been removed, but yours seems to just raise, so it seems that you missed a few screws.

  • Adjustable 430CDT Pro - how to replace the CMOS battery?

    Two questions, if I could.

    1. the old new 430CDT - does anyone have simple instructions that go I would find the CMOS battery and replace it without destroying the computer in the process? I suspect that it is hidden under the keyboard, but have no idea how to do to remove that. (I'm not very super-friendly upward on computers.)

    2. How can I get back in to old posts and give points for helpful answers?

    Thank you!

I m not very well, but I doubt you could get access to the only keyboard removing CMOS battery.
Usually it s placed on the motherboard but it s need to disassemble the whole laptop and believe me. It's really complicated and mostly impossible for some who never disassembled a laptop

So if you ask my opinion: contact a technician in downtown and ask for help.
