I had a similar on my wifes computer problem after an ifestation Trojan horse got into his system.

I am running xp home with service pack 3.

I put end to the largest part of the instance of mshta.exe in Task Manager so that the repressive would work quite well to fix.

I did a search for the mshta. * which yealded multiple copies, some with version behind numbers. I deleted all but one of:

    c:\windows\system32\mshta.exe

    c:\windows\servicepackfiles\i386\mshta.exe

The in the folder system32 was 45 k and the one in the service pack files was 29 k I went in the Service Pack folder and copied mshta.exe.

Then I put end to all instances of mshta.exe in the Task Manager.

Then I went in the system32 folder and pasted the file by replacing the infected file. So far, everything is ok. If I have problems I have reload service pack 3.

    Hi GFar74,

MSHTA (Microsoft HTML Hypertext Markup Language > Host Application is a process that is running.) The HTA (HTML application) file, usually MSHTA charge once. HTA application must be running and then ends when the application ends.

This problem may occur if a Windows system file is missing or damaged.

Method 1: Run the SFC (System File checker) Scan. To do this, follow the steps below

With the installation of Windows XP in the drive disc

un) Click Start, click principally made programs, click Accessories, and click command prompt of

    (b) type the following command and press ENTER:

    sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

If the problem persists, this could be an activity of the virus

Method 2: A scanner online for any threat and try to correct

  • Log file of NOD32 which can help diagnose the problem with svchost.exe, WScript.exe, mshta.exe and windefender and update please someone help does not!

HHmmmm bears ok I will answer your questions, but I don't really see the relivence of them for the progs anti, spy, virus, malware are not the problem.

    (1) a little more than two or three weeks ago or not.

    2A) about two weeks ago.

No. 2B) I don't buy anti progs that do not work. Why would I? He did not set the blocks just prob the random load IE 8 to a maleware site addresses.

    (3) I got the updated version of Avast for almost two years. He simply blocked addresses saying something was trying to use svchost and WScript mshta.exe to attempt to load IE to a maleware site. I disabled Avast but since the installation of NOD32 if she does not interfere.

    (4) I don't remember what I used before I think it's Norton or macafree but I don't know about two years ago, I had the computer taken, wiped and reinstalled windows and they gave me Avast for free.

    (5) Yes, I tried Norton and Macafree, and they do not work to correct the problem. I uninstalled them well and they are no longer on my computer.

    (6) no they were not preinstalled.

If you're going to ask me to do a system restore it will not help I already tried. Useless program when you can't use it. I tried several times with different dates, even in safe mode. I already ran on Microsoft Live Onecare, MSRT, Fix and MSE. I have spybot, malwarebytes, superantispyware, synematic and have tried them all. Nothing can solve the problem. Now NOD32 blocks the random addresses loading IE but it is very annoying seeing this thing pop up constantly. The only thing that it does not stop is when I use IE occasionally it will load a location for a Wal-Mart gift card, but I've just close it. If I use a different prog or any it constantly blocks the random addresses loading IE. I don't have IE loaded. Yes I have popups blockers, but it does not block another page being loaded on the card gift wlmart site. everything else works well.

Please don't give me no matter what more links to the help pages for Microsoft because I already looked through them all and tried a lot of useful advice and none have worked. What I really need Bear is a set of instructions on what or the files to search posibly containing a script that gives orders to the system files to try and load IE maleware sites. I need to know where to look, what I'm looking for and how to rewrite or erase the command or script. Probly get rid of some files HKLM or commands too if there are orders as well. I'm sure you'll tell me its probly in both registry keys. in any case if you can help with a set of instructions on how manually enter and take care of the problem that would be great.

I have seen the manual of instructions on how to repair scvhost.exe but I'll not go messin' and delete this file cause I know that you need so that windows run. I'm sorry for the poor fools who go on Ehow and follow the instructions. in any case if you can help it would be greatly appreciated I don't have the money right now to put this thing in the shop with Christmas around the corner and all. Peace!

bear oppss sorry I forgot to say of windows has been completely updated in time and yes I was able to connect to windows update and defender update as well before that happens, but now I cannot connect to a, but can connect to anywheree else apparently on microsoft or other juice of sites not not both.

I have 64-bit Windows 8.1.   I installed Officejet Pro 8600 e-all-in-one-made N-911 using OJ8600 - 1315.exe.   The printer and the software worked fine in Windows 7.   Windows 8.1, the printer works well wirlessly.   It prints, scans, and copies without problem.   I can use the printer window to start scanning and copying.   However, I have an icon on the 8.1 Windows Start Page that says Officejet Pro 8600.   When I click it, it opens a window labled HPSolutionsPortal.hta - Microsoft Visual Studio.  I don't get the Officejet software where I can control the resolution of the scans and files generated by the printer.   How can I access the HP Officejet Pro software?

Open the Registry Editor (start - run - Type "regsvr32 jscript.dll" - entry.) This solution is for you to re - register the dll file).

Of course you can also fix this error by yourself. Please organize these command lines to make a line (Repair_IE.bat) batch and then run it.

  • Unable to connect to the internet after the removal of system tool virus

A computer running Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002, Service Pack 3 has got a virus System Tool which I believe I deleted using the key of activation and then run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.  On reboot, the system tool icon was still in the system tray, so I ran Norton 360 to remove unwanted registry files.  He got rid of the icon in the system tray.  I also then removed the Malwarebytes software.  Please note that, while I was removing the virus, I was able to connect to AOL so that in mode safe mode with networking.  Finally, who has stopped working.  The Malwarebytes software has been downloaded on the infected computer with a flash drive from a computer with working internet.

I cannot now connect to the internet with Internet Explorer 8 or AOL (under standard or secure modes).  When you are trying to connect with IE8, the message reads 'Internet Explorer cannot display the web page' and when I run the diagnostic tests, it indicates there is a problem with the modem and/or router.  These devices are, however, both the work that there are other computers connected to them and they work.

I tried Microsoft solutions are answers to a similar question.  Unfortunately, none of them worked in my situation.  They have been in accordance with the following:

    No doubt...

What happens when you try to connect to the Internet?

What is your version of XP, the version of Service Pack and IE?

What method did you relieve your system of affection 'Antivir Solution Pro' (how confident you are that you got rid of him)?

Generally, any part of this procedure is necessary after removing Antivir Solution Pro (a well documented removal procedure would have included the steps to cancel Internet connectivity issues).  I would get my infected system and try the procedure you used to see how it works.

If, when you try to connect with Internet Explorer, you see something like:

Internet Explorer cannot display this webpage

    The most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
    The Web site encounters problems.
There could be a typing error in the address.

We will check your network connection properties.

Some malware will alter these settings and your anti malware software can't tell if you have changed the malware changed them or so, after removal of infections, it will leave just the settings as he finds them (it is usually a good thing), but can leave your Internet disabled in certain situations.

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    Inetcpl.cpl

Click OK to start the network settings of Internet control panel applet properties, connections.

Or, in Internet Explorer click on tools, Options, connections, LAN settings.

These settings control your Internet access for all browsers.

On most environments, not independent, there will be check automatically detect settings and the other boxes are (as Proxy Server) is disabled.

Automatically detect the setting checked =
Use the automatic configuration script = unchecked
Use a proxy server for your LAN = not checked

Make changes, then click OK, OK to save the settings.

Check your settings for how your network adapter gets its IP and DNS settings.  On most home systems, these parameters must be defined for the system will get the settings automatically.

If you have another system on your network that works, you can compare these settings with the settings of the system which is not a work and make adjustments.

Click Start, settings, Control Panel, network connections, and then select your current network connection.

On the general tab, click Properties.

In the drop down in the Middle, find and highlight the selection of Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties.

In the Internet Protocol Properties window, the usual selections are to get the IP and DNS settings automatically.  Select the following two options:

    Obtain an IP address automatically

Get a DNS server address automatically

The rest of the options on the screen should then be grayed out/not available.

Make changes, then click OK, OK to save the settings.

Restart your computer and test your connection.

Perform scans for malware, and then fix any problems:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:

    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

They can be uninstalled later if you wish.

Also, I typed cmd in the start run box and the command-line entered ipconfig enough and ipconfig/renew.  This is also not rectify the situation.

For your assistance, the following is a copy of a part of the file that I thought that may be applicable after that I typed in miscinfo32 in start, run box:

You have any ideas that could help me find an internet connection?  Thanks for any help.

The removal of the virus seems to have taken some required system files.  See if the System File Checker helps.  Click Start > run and enter in the field open.

    sfc/scannow

Press ENTER.  The System File Checker must detect the missing necessary files and put back them.  If this does not work, use a system restore point from before you were infected.  If this does not work, get out of your XP installation diskettes.

  • Corrupt troubleshooting tools

I tried running Vistas Checkup, Performance and maintenance tools and hardware diagnostic tools and all I get is Notepad that appears with what looks like the inforamtion in another language. What is going on? Help, please.

Click on the start ORB and type regedit.exe.  Press ENTER.  When the Registry Editor opens, use the tree on the left to navigate toHKEY_CLASSES_ROOT - use of the symbol path to expand the nodes under +.  From there, go tohtafile, then Shell, then Open, then the command.  On the right side, with theorder selected on the left, what is the value of 'default'?  You can use a capture of screen, or copy and paste, to provide the info (if a screenshot, make sure that all the data value is visible).

The value must be set to one of the following values (as the case may be, you use Windows x 64 or x 86) - If this is not the case, change it to one of the below and see if that makes a difference.  If this isn't the case, restart and try again:

    x 64:
    c:\windows\syswow64\mshta.exe "%1" % *.

    x 86:
    c:\windows\system32\mshta.exe "%1" % *.

If you are unsure which architecture ([x 86] 32 - bit or 64-bit (x 64)) that you are using, look for a folder named syswow64 in c:\windows. If it's there, it's strong enough to bet that you are running an x 64 Windows arc.  Otherwise, check the value "type system" in the control panel of the system.

  • Get information from my computer about the details of the graphics card and so on, in order to install games.

From the control panel > Performance and tools > can't view and print details of the basis of the normal English Windows experience index. See below. This is what is displayed in Notepad.  The reason why I'm doing this is because I was not able to install Games 2/2, I bought. The guy at EB Games says print a list of information on the computer so that I could buy the appropriate game. I would like to have a game on my computer. My friend recommended to Doom 3. Is there something that exists and why I receive this report not readable?

    Check this similar thread:

    Printing performance information

In the end, make sure that HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\htafile\Shell\Open\Command is set to one of the following values, depending on the architecture of the operating system:

    x 64:
    c:\windows\syswow64\mshta.exe "%1" % *.

    x 86:
    c:\windows\system32\mshta.exe "%1" % *.

  • My hp deskjet 1050 J410 series is not compatible with windows 8?

I downloaded the new drivers and I am able to print with my printer HP deskjet 1050 J410 but I am not able to scan anydocumants. I can't open the HP printer Assistant window. The error reads as follows:

Adobe reader software cannot open HPSPProgress.hta because it is not a supported file type or the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an attachment to e-mail and has not been correctly decoded).

I don't know if this has to do with my default programs or what happens. I am currently using 8 64-bit windows.

    Thank you

    Hello

The doftware is fully compatible with Windows 8, the question appears because of the wrong configuration of your operating system to start the HTA with Adobe Reader files wrongly.

Follow the steps below, this should solve the problem:

    1. Click the Windows (the key with the Windows Logo) key + keys X, and then open the Control Panel.
    2. Select programs.
    3. Under default programs, select make a file type always open in a specific program.
    4. Lecate and double click in the list .hta (HTML Application will appear in its description).
    5. Select Microsoft (R) HTML Application Host.
    6. If such an option does not appear, click Other Options.
    7. Click find another app on the PC at the bottom of the list.
    8. Navigate to C:\windows\system32 and select mshta.exe
    9. Click on Open, close all windows and then try to open the HP software.

Ideas: I get this error message when I try to play a game that has been installed at least a year without problem.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled without success.

I am also unable to open windows media player.  Nothing happens when I click it.

Also, when I try to open Mcafee I get a blank white box. But it appears in the lower right corner that they are running.

I tried several solutions with no luck:

A ran sfc/scannow as administrator.  only went to 78% and says protection could not perform the requested operation

Also, went to problems and reports, view history, and that's what I found:

    Hello

    ·        What games you try to play?

    ·        McAfee is installed on the system?

I suggest to uninstall Mcafee from the system and check.

C0000005T is a code of access violation. It is the operating system telling you that a program has malfunctioned. It has nothing specific to do with a particular program, or a brand of software, this is straight from the CPU and kernel of the operating system.

    Step 1:

I suggest you to do a clean boot.

    a. log on to the computer using an account with administrator rights

    b. Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.

    c. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue

    d. under the general tab, click Selective startup and then click to clear the check box load startup items. (The check box use the file Boot is not available.)

    e. on the Services tab, click to select the skin all the Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all

Note: Following this step lets services Microsoft continue to run. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use to restore the system with the existing restore points.

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    a. Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.

    b. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    c. under the general tab, click the Normal startup option and then click OK.

    d. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

If the problem is solved, check which third-party program is causing the problem. For more information, see the article mentioned below.

    I have a premium officejet pro 8600

The GUI does not load when I click on the exe file. It opens Notepad and shows what looks like html script.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software nothing works

Hi Ifound this file which seems to solve the problem you are experiencing. I don't see a way to attach the file, but you can copy the content and paste it into Notepad and save the file as fix_hta.reg. It's got to the registry > file > import file in the registry (fix_hta.reg) once done close the registry and open the graphical user interface.

    Start copying

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
