Need sybase client after install oracle gateway?

Dear all,

I'm all new to this portal oracle to sybase, I try to create dblink Oracle EBS to sybase.
Is there a step before or after this step of the installation:

Universal Oracle install: the available product components

a. select Oracle to Sybase 11.1.0.6.0 database gateway.

b. click Next.

Oracle to Sybase database gateway

The database server host Sybase name - specify the host name of the machine hosting the database Sybase server.

Sybase database server Port number - to specify the port number of the Sybase database server

Database Sybase name - specify the Sybase database name

Click next to continue.

Should install us some sybase client or maybe set up some files before and after the installation?

Help, please

Concerning

JOE

Hey Joe,
If you have installed the DG4Sybase you don't need to install Sybase software.
The information requested during the installation are used to created ainit .ora file which is then used by the gateway to connect to the database Syabse.
You can put in fake information and then manually change when the installation is complete.

Also, you say you have installed Dg4Syabse 11.1.0.6, but it would be better to install and use the latest 11.2.0.3 version as suggested by Klaus in your other thread.

The latest version of the software is currently 11.2.0.3 and it can be downloaded (and installed from scratch) of "My Oracle Support". Simply open the patches & updates section, look for Patch 10404530: 11.2.0.3.0 PATCH SET FOR ORACLE DATABASE SERVER and make sure you choose the platform you want to use. Then check out the readme file it lists, which of these download CD contains the gateway software.
BTW, the CD contains DG4ODBC and DG4SYBS and it is up to you to decide during installation of which product you want to use.

Kind regards
Mike

  • After installing Oracle 11 g 2, it shows - there is no installed products

I am trying to install oracle 11 g 2 on my laptop on windows xp Service Pack 3. everything has to go right, but when it was installing dbca, when he arrived at 85% to install, it gave me following error...

Enterprise manager configuration failed due to the error - next
    null
See the log file at C:\app\Administrator\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\cfgtoollogs\dbca\orcl\emConfig.log for more details.
You can try this database with Enterprise Manager configuration later by manually running the script of C:\app\Administrator\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\bin\emca

At the end I'll past the log as well.

Now the problem is when I try to launch emca manually. It does not run. and then I decided to uninstall oracle 11 GR 2, but when I try to uninstall Oracle 11 GR 2 installer universal and clicked on installed product then he showed me the folling
    * "There is no installed products" * "
It is strange to me. now I am confused what to do, the services are running, but I can't run the script of emca. I'm stuck, if any body can help me in this regard, I will be very thank ful...

    Hello
What YES you use uninstall 11 GR 2? This means that you have also installed other oracle software on your laptop. 11 g, you cannot use YES uninstall 11 GR 2 software and you need to user uninstall utility instead. Either you can download uninstall utility of OTN, or alternatively, you can run it from the oracle home that you uninstall, as follows

On your command prompt, replace ORACLE_HOME with the oracle home path on your laptop then execute following.
    ORACLE_HOME\deinstall\deinstall

For OEM database control, your DBSNMP account is locked. Unblock this account.

Follow step-by-step commands you set it up.

    emca -repos recreate

    emca -deconfig dbcontrol db

    emca -config dbcontrol db

  • ORA-12170 of the client after installing 12102

I installed 12102 on Linux.  In all my 11g install, our standard is to use dynamic record for each instance in the listener.  Then you remove the listener.ora file which allows dynamic registration in 11g.  We also use a listener shared by server... so I disabled the LOCAL_LISTENER parameter by alter system set local_listener = ";  I have found no record of this has changed in the 12 c install.  I found that a new process LREG registers the instance instead of PMON... but it's all working.  My cases are recorded in the listener... yet I can't connect from a client or another server using the standard tnsnames.ora.  What Miss me?  Nothing don't watch even in my journal of the listener that is trying to connect...

ORA-12170 is one out of connection time.

From there, we can draw some conclusions

    (1) your network service name WAS resolved to a connection string - left the tnsnames or a direct specifications.  We know because the request got fairly far from actually solved in a host address and an attempt was made to send the request to the specified host.

    (2) most likely, your application never made to the host.  He timed out waiting for a response from the host, he would have received if the request had never got there.  If the request had gotten to the listener, then failed for some reason, the error would be different.

So, what does this leave us with?

    (1) the HOST = specification in your clien t tnsnames (or another method of specifying) is invalid, pointing to a non-existent host

    (2) there is a firewall blocking the transmission of your client to your HOST

  • Entries in tnsnames.ora after installing Oracle Xpress Edition 10.2

    Hi friends,

I installed Xpress Edition 10.2 in my machine.

The following entries are found in the tnsnames file.

        (CONNECT_DATA =

        (CONNECT_DATA =
          (SID = CLRExtProc)
          (PRESENTATION = RO)
        )
      )
Out of these 3 entries, the first SID is the SID of the instance of oracle running on the computer.

What is the usefulness of the 2 other SIDs?

These last 2 are for the external procedure access. It is an ICC (interprocess communication or based on memory rather than based network) connection TO the database with the listener.

ExtProc is used to enable the database connect outward to non-Oracle programs.

By default, PLSExtProc is used to describe the connection between dll and PL/SQL (if the security has been implemented correctly). The external program is given a wrapper that makes it look like the PL/SQL within the database and explains how to connect via the SID. You can get a lot more information in manuals database Net Services and database administrator.

By default, CLRExtProc is used for .net extensions. More info on http://www.oracle.com/pls/db111/portal.portal_db?selected=5&frame=#.net_and_windows_application_development

  • Oracle Gateway 11 to dblink

    Dear friends,

I installed Oracle 10.2.0.4.0 - Production 64-bit. I have installed Oracle Gateway 11 in another House. Now,.

I need to set my Oracle_Home variable to the location of the 11 g to get the job of the oracle.

    Is this good?

I did it on a test server and I need to apply it on a production server.

Now, I have an additional House and the listener... I'm confused...

    Please guide me.

    Thanks in advance.

Note: I have posted this in general Forum but did not see anyone you meet. So, make a copy of it here.

Yes, the path parameter is the point. Have a look at "echo %PATH%" - it lists 11g software in front of 10 g.

After that 11.2 software installation program YES added the setting of path before the current path setting - so all the COMMAND LINE tools will use the path 11.2 setting.
You can change the PATH environment variable so that 10.2.0.4 parameters before once again, or you must first go to the ORACLE_HOME\bin directory before calling the executable

    In addition:
So, should the Oracle 11g gateway has its listener running?
-online gateway is 11.2 so you use earphone 11.2. Connect to the database using the SID and without specifying an alias TNS connect through the listener at all. It's a way of inter process communication.
So yes, keep the listener 11.2 running.

Should I leave the environment variable Oracle Home pointing to D:\product\11.2.0\tg_1? Well, it depends of your (or DBA) freshness. Imagine your production database becomes a problem and that you are stressed out. Always keep in mind the ORACLE_HOME and path is set correctly? So yes, you can keep the current setting.
But when you get nervous in these situations - simplify your life and set the ORACLE_HOME in your production environment and change the PATH parameter so that 11G Bridge Home is mentioned in the variable PATH AFTER the House of 10g.

  • install oracle via xterminal client

    Hi experts,
We have a request to install oracle on the linux server.
Citrix allows us to connect to the remote linux server.
I've never used xterminal, I use other graphical tools like humming bird and vnc server.
Please help me how to use xterm to install oracle cleint?

    Thank you

You should be able to use VNC on Linux.

If you must use xterm, then you need a client on your PC that supports xterm. Humminbird Exceed can do that. Personally, I use Cygwin, because it's free.

There are several ways to configure xterm, but basically you have Xterm running on your PC and allowing connections (xhost +) and a session on the server which has DISPLAY =: 0.0 together. Then execute runInstaller, and the window should display on your PC.

You could also do a silent installation.

  • I need help my pc does not connect to the internet after installing updates

It happens all the time as I paid for the program and downloaded on my PC and they need to access the internet at work and when I click on it it say failed to connect or unable to connect to what happens with that?

I downloaded mozilla fire fox and that no longer works and the same for IE8 after instalation my internet does not work why?

I need serious help to what I at least need these programs, I bought to work.

    1. a System Restore to before the updates:

Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > System Restore > restore time/choose your own date > next

If you use Norton, disable it before using the system restore.

    OR

    2. click on start > right click on computer > properties > Windows updates down the lower left corner > updates installed in the lower left corner in the next window

    > then click the one that you don't want > uninstall will appear at the top > uninstall it.

In addition, on the page where you clicked "Installed updates", click on change settings at the top left corner it

    > Change update settings in the next page of AutoUpdate to "check for updates but let me choose etc" > OK ".

When you take a look at pending updates, you can either download/install them one at the time, namely the bad.

    > or if you do not need an individual > right-click on > UAC prompt > hide it

Post back with update KB number, you are having problems with.

    See you soon.

  • My computer is completely messed up after installing the latest updates from Microsoft. I need help/ideas to make it work again.

    Vista Business Service Pack 2
    32 bit
    2007-12-office
    Acrobat 9 Pro
    Adobe Design Standard CS4
    Sony Vaio

I installed the latest vista updates today.  Three "important"; an option.  The optional parameter was an update of bluetooth toshiba.  We were talking about "platforms" that made me uncomfortable so I went to Microsoft and after reading it, I decided - based on little understanding - it was probably necessary.
Shortly after, Acrobat 9 Pro wasn't working anymore. The computer asked me to restart after installing updates, but I have done a couple of things, including some e-mail.  During the attempt to send e-mail until I turned off the computer, Outlook flash he has been restarted and then the icon to install flash and then I could come back and type until the sequence started.

I turned off the computer and when I rebooted, it did not start.  I managed to get it started; I run scandisk; now, when it starts to get a series of errors from Adobe for various Adobe programs that I installed on the machine all seem related to the "Automatic Setup" (or boot, I don't remember exactly.  I tried to re - install Acrobat and I get an error message that the 'source' is not available, and to ensure that it is - despite me using the installation disc, so I guess that it refers to the 'source' in Vista.  Outlook does not start.  He told me to use scanpst.exe to analyze the .pst files, but they seem to have disappeared.  I have tried other products of office except Explorer who started without problem.

I can't use restore because it says that the disc is damaged and needs to be checked.

    Any ideas are appreciated.

Uninstall the update for bluetooth.  Never use Microsoft device driver updates.  To avoid this does not happen, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-automatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista/.

Go to start / all programs / accessories / command prompt and right click on command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

Type sfc/scannow, go and let it run.  It will scan and try to correct some of your system files.  If all goes well he comes complete with no corruption, it could not repair (if it has these post of corruption here or try to analyze it to find the problem or files using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228.

While in the command prompt, type chkdsk /f /r and enter and let it run.  It will scan and try to solve any corruption or bad sectors on your hard drive and remove especially as a cause.  Who can release the OS to do a system restore or other recovery options.

Do you know when this problem started (probably with updates)?  Try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem started.  Here is the procedure: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/.  Don't forget to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points.  If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two.  NOTE: You will need to re - install any software and updates that you have installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for updates.

If the system restore does not work, do a startup repair, boot from the disk Installation of Windows Vista genuine (or one that you can borrow from someone) or a recovery disc.  Here is the procedure: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html.  You may need to change the BIOS to do first the CD drive in the boot sequence to boot from the CD.  To do this, hold the screen that tells you the key F to push to enter the menu start or start of installation.  Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work and exit.  Put the CD in the drive and reboot.  When you are prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.

If you do not have a floppy disk, you can make a bootable recovery disk by using http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ with burning software like: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html and, of course, a blank CD.

If this does not work, try to start in safe mode (repeatedly hit F8 key so that the start and go in safe mode with networking).  Then we will check some of your system files:

If it does not, then thanks for posting any repetitive error message in Event Viewer on startup (Start / Control Panel / administrative tools / Event Viewer).  Here's how to use Event Viewer: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic40108.html.

If this does not work, you will need to do a repair/system upgrade using the Windows Vista Installation disc authentic (you own or that you can borrow from someone).  Here is the procedure: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-vista.html as well as the upgrade from an earlier version of the Windows section of the following: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918884.  Although this will not affect your data, settings or programs, you should always back up your data before you start just be on the safe side. If other procedures do not work, it is almost certain to work.  You can have a lot of updates to re - install (including all you need to remove service packs).  If the version on system with SP1 or SP2 preinstalled cane and the disc is an earlier version, then you will need to do a slipstream drive as follows: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/151606-vista-sp1-slipstream-installation-dvd.html.

I hope one of these procedures can solve your problem.  If this isn't the case, after return and we will try something else.  Return message anyway so we know how it turns out.

If none of these steps work, transfer your question in Forum Windows Update: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/threads where the people who specialize in updating the questions will be more than happy to solve your problems.  Don't forget to tell them what updates you downloaded and installed, and what steps you have already done to try to solve the problem.

    Good luck!

  • Default gateway disappears after installing SP2.

    Hi people

I just installed SP2, and now when I start/restart the computer, the default gateway is missing. When I check the properties of the connection, the IP address is correct, but the default gateway is blank - it does not 0.0.0.0, there is nothing at all.

My computer (Vista Ultimate x 86) and a XP Pro PC are connected to a router. I have disabled the DHCP on the router and use a static IP address for each computer. The XP machine is rarely used. I also have a configuration of the VPN connection. When I first encountered this problem, I deleted the VPN connection in case the PC tried to use it to connect to the Internet. I later recreated once I realized what the problem was.

Even if I can reset the bridge, I don't want to have to do this every time that I reboot.

Can someone tell me what is the cause, please? I would also appreciate it if someone can tell me how I can configure the default gateway by using a batch file executed with administrator privileges. That would save me having to dig through Control Panel etc etc every time my computer starts.

    Thank you!

    Hi RealBlood,
Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers forum.
To solve your problem follow these steps:

Repair options for TCP/IP stack for use with Windows Vista.

Start, Programs\Accessories and right click on command prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands:

Restore the default install WINSOCK entries: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset the battery TCP/IP IPv4 default installation. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset the battery TCP/IP IPv6 default installation. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

    Reboot the computer.

Reset the default router by pressing the reset for 15 seconds with power button.

    • Turn off everything, modem, router, computer.
    • Connect the modem to the WAN/Internet port on the router.
    • Connect the computer to one of the router's LAN/network ports.
    • Turn on the modem, wait for triggering connect light.
    • Turn on the router, wait two minutes.
    • Start the computer.

When the computer is completely loaded, we will see that.

Hold down the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

    IPCONFIG/ALL

Right click in the command window and choose select all, and then press enter.
Paste the results in a message here.
