Network Neighborhood is a virus on my pc?

Network Neighborhood on my pc is a folder that is gold, but lighter than all other folders. When I click on it, it shows nothing. When I tried to remove it, it says that my pc will not work without it. The contents are hidden. I do not trust in this folder. Should I remove it?

Hello

Network neighborhood stores the path to the folder containing shortcuts to servers that the user has added to my network places.
You can see the following link for more information on network neighborhood.

  • Unable to connect to surface RT in network neighborhood

The Tablet shows up in my other pc windows8 (cable) network neighborhood, but when I try to connect to it I get an error "the network not found path.

I turn file sharing and printers on the tablet.

I can see and access the network shares on other machines of the Tablet, but I can't access shares on itself (i.e. by browsing to the shared folders on the Tablet, the tablet itself).

I also noticed that the Service "Computer browser" on the Tablet is set to disabled (I think the firewall?)

My Event Viewer is littered with errors like these:

    Error - Service Control Manager

The computer browser Service depends on the Server service which failed to start because of the following error:

The Service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices is associated to him.

I tried to manually start the service but I get error 1068 the dependency service L or the group could start.

In addition, I seem to be unable to sync with Gmail from the mailer of the Tablet application (same settings work fine on my other machines) with the warning "could not synchronize messages. This could be unrelated, however.

I hope someone has a solution because I really need access.

  • How can I fix DHCP and related networks after damage apparent virus?

A netbook with Windows XP client is more connected to the internet. The customer does not remember something strange happening just before she began to notice this. The strange thing is that it can always connect to a wireless network. When I try to see the IP settings by using the IPCONFIG command, I get the following message:

    'Windows IP configuration.
An internal error has occurred: the request is not supported.
Contact the Services de Support technique Microsoft for assistance.
Additional information: host name of impossible request. »
Which lead me to check services and found that the DHCP service does not work. When I try to start it, I get:
"Unable to dΘmarrer Client DHCP services on the Local computer.
Error 1068: The dependency service or group could start. "
I tried following the steps in this post as best I could by replacing UBCD4Win on USB for Windows installation disk, but it does not solve the problem: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-networking/dhcp-client-wont-start-due-to-dependency/91d41140-663f-4f58-9a04-9eaab2c40884?page=1&tm=1324426276627
I checked dependencies of DHCP in the registry as well as in the Properties window and all withdraws: AFD, NetBios over TCP/IP and TCP/IP Protocol Driver.
    Other things I've tried:
    • Run full scan (found nothing) Microsoft Security Essentials
    • Installed and run the Malwarebytes scan (found three threats and removed them)
    • A ran SFC (found nothing out of whack)
    • Uninstalled the drivers affected no Plug and Play

  • NETWORK card due to virus problem.

I have received and isolated a virus, but not before, he did some damage. First of all, it disabled my cd/dvd drive, then under IP config, it turn off the Routing IP and Proxy WINS. It displays a 'no' for active. My cd/dvd indicates it is functional but I can't read. The other problem keeps me to have access to the internet. Can you guide me to solve this problem?

    Hi chrisinOhio,

-What happens when you try to access the Internet? You get an error message or error code? If Yes, indicate the same.

As a first step, I recommend you scan your computer to get rid of this virus.

Try to start in Safe Mode with networkand then run an analysis online for your computer. Visit the following links for the same:

    http://OneCare.live.com/site/en-us/Center/whatsnew.htm

    Microsoft Security Essentials

Once you scan your computer, check whether the issues you mentioned is fixed.

Try running the Fixit tool from the below mentioned link and see if this is useful in fixing the issue for CD/DVD.

  • The working groups in my network places became inaccessible.

The working groups in my network places became inaccessible.  I can reach the individual computers if I type the name or IP address, but I can't seem to them through network neighborhood.  Is there a setting somewhere hand who has caused this?  He used to work very well, this has only started happening in the last two weeks.  It began with a single computer not being able to be seen and grew up in the area of network together.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Mike

    Hi Mike,.

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

    ·         You get the error message?

    Follow these methods.

    Method 1: Follow these steps:

Step 1: Start the computer in safe mode with network and check if the problem persists.

Step 2: If the problem does not still in safe mode, perform a clean boot to see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: After completing the steps in the clean boot troubleshooting, follow the section How to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state of the link to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.

After the clean boot used to resolve the problem, you can follow these steps to configure Windows XP to start normally.

    (a) click Start, run.

    (b) type msconfigand click OK.

    (c) the System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.

    (d) click the general tab, click Normal startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.

    (e) when you are prompted, click on restart to restart the computer.

Method 2: Temporarily disable the security software.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 3: Follow the steps in the article.

File sharing is usually accomplished by using the NetBIOS over TCP/IP (NetBT) protocol which may have its own set of problems even if TCP/IP is working properly.

Two items that may be useful are here:

"You can not access the shared files and folders or browse computers in the workgroup with Windows XP"

A rare problem can occur if the node Type is set to peer-to-peer (or Pei P or P-node).  P - nodes use a radio to locate other computers and therefore will not appear in the network neighborhood.  Bring up a command prompt on each machine (start-> Run-> "cmd") and enter the command:
    ipconfig/all
Look at the line that begins 'Node Type' and check that it is not a knot-P.  If this is the case, then the following article could be useful:

"You can't see the other computers in the workgroup on the network on a Windows XP computer"

As a last resort, see if you can map a drive from a command prompt window. Open a window to command as shown above and enter the command:

    NET use p: \\computername\sharename / user: username

Where you replace "computername" with the name of the remote computer and the "sharename" with the name of the network share on this computer.  "Username" is replaced by the user for authentication and the "/ user:" part is optional if you are authenticating with the same username and password that you use on your current computer.  the "p:" can be replaced with the drive letter, you wish or replace with a "*" If you want to take the pot-luck on drive letters.

  • Network name not found between 2 XP Pro computers. Just stopped working

I have a computer network that has worked successfully for several years and stops suddenly. The only thing I can think of that changed is that I have installed the "critical" updates that windows recommended I have install. I don't know that's the problem that I didn't test the network for several days before or after the installation, but it can be an important clue

my network seems to be still intact, as I can ping and access any computer manually via the IP (\\192.168.1.x), but I can't access or their ping more than name (\\computer_1). All my shared drives and printers to refer to names of computers for their ports. None of the networked computers appear in the network neighborhood with the exception of the computer I'm working on.

Thinking it was simply a problem of firewall/virus protection, I have disabled all of this on both xp computers, but it made no difference. The kicker is that Mac computers can still access the printer shared by computer name. The problem seems to lie between the two xp computers.

All the obvious print and file sharing settings have been verified to be correct. I even went as far as to set up the network again, that made no difference.

Two xp computers revealed FALSE when I checked who was the master browser, so I changed my desktop to TRUE to indicate that as long as the master browser.

On my network, I have 2 MAC OSx 10.5 and 2 windows xp pro SP3. Mac can still access shared printers, computers XP cannot...

I guess that the other two computers are working properly and that it can network together and that the only problem is the XP machine.  I'm also assuming that this problem persists when the firewall was disabled (including hidden like the one in the Cisco VPN client).  I also assume you mean by "is no longer connect to my home network" that you can't see other computers in your network neighborhood.
