New black cartridge inserted now my photosmart5510 printer will print not except in color

It was a genuine HP cartridge and the ink levels are showing it's new

Contact HP or check their website to see if there is a diagnosis or to test the process, that the printer can run to see what the problem is.

    Photosmart e 5510 all-in-one

Was completely out of ink installed new black cartridge, do not have color cartridges. Went to copy I get a blank page. The printer sounds like its printing. Purchased with HP printer cartridge

I'm sorry that you're having this problem, but the printer will NOT work without the color cartridges.

Even if you chose to print in B & W, the printer still need to use each cartridge colors to mix with black to make a true black color.

  • New black cartridge do not align

I have a HP laptop and my printer is a HP EnVY 4500 e-all-in-one-series.

I installed a new black cartridge Ref. HP61. The printer will scan, but the alignment fails. This is a new printer. I had an old HP printer that does the same thing. That's why I bought thinking it was the HP ENVY printer.

Thus, the new cartridge, new printer, same problem, will not align the scanned map.

I understand how frustrated you must try to get the printer working, I will help the best I can.

What looks like the alignment sheet?

    Missing colors?

I would like to do a hard reset to see if that will solve the problem.

    • Let the printer and disconnect the printer cable and the wall socket for 60 seconds.
    • Reconnect the power cable to the output of the printer and the wall, and not a surge protector. This ensures that the printer is full on and can help this situation.
    • Make sure that the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (do not use a hub or a surge protector) This ensures that the printer is full on and can help this situation.
    • Remove and reinsert the ink cartridges.
    • Load white letters unused, plain or paper of A4 format with a brightness level of at least 85 on the set.

If the problem persists, I would try the steps in this guide, an "alignment failed" Error Message is displayed on the control panel.

    Try a reboot.

Make a backup using Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure that data files can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.

Try to set up another admin user account to see if the same problem persists. If back to my Mac is enabled in system preferences, the guest account will not work. The intention is to see if it is specific to an account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

Isolate a problem by using a different user account

If the problem is still there, try to start safe mode using your usual account.  Disconnect all devices except those necessary for the test. Shut down the computer and then put it up after a 10 second wait. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the SHIFT key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. Startup is considerably slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a check for directory and disables all start-up and connection, among other things. When you restart normally, the initial restart may be slower than normal. If the system is operating normally, there may be 3rd party applications that pose a problem. Try to delete/disable the third-party applications after a reboot using the UN-Installer. For each disable/remove, you need to restart if you do them all at once.

  • DeskJet 1010: Black cartridge is full; but the prints either light gray or not at all.

The black cartridge is full; but do not print.  When I do a test page with HP print and Scan doctor, black prints grey.  When I try to print using my desktop burner, it prints nothing.  Prints a blank page.  I had this same problem of six months; but was able to talk to technical support services because the printer was still under warranty.  They have solved the problem without delay.  The warranty expired 4/2015, so I'm unable to speak to a representative of Tech and unfortunately, I don't remember what the rep done to solve the problem.  Can anyone help?

Thanks for the quick response.  I followed all of your suggestions and unfortunately I had to replace the black cartridge.  Nothing else has worked.  Does not explain why for the old cartridge ink levels showed as complete but does not print.  Hope this doesn't continue to happen with HP 61 cartridge.  Thanks again.  I appreciate your help.

  • new black cartridge will not print

    OfficeJet 6500 AIO e709a

    Windows Vista

I installed new black ink cartridge. I made a few photocopies and had no problem. Today I can't print black at all. It prints color only. I did all the troubleshooting - cleaning the print head, align, print the test page, etc. - still no black. I went to Office Depot and got the black cartridge. Still can not print in black. I used the 'clean' tools of the printer itself print head and still no black. The replacement plan, I bought at Office Depot is a joke! They give me only purchase price. New printer like min (one year old, but was a fence) will cost me double, they will return! I would rather 'fix' it. Any ideas?

    Thank you!

WELL, I'm RELIEVED! The reset worked very well and I am now printing in black! I agree with the person who said that this process certainly has HP - I used a lot of ink! (you know, this liquid GOLD!)

In any case, I'm happy and enjoy all that have posted helpful advice/comments.

Now, how can I mark this "resolved?"

  • New black cartridge does not print - Photosmart 5510 all-in-One

I replaced all my ink cartridges when they ran.  The black cartridge is printing not and cannot even print alignment test page to align my new cartridges.  They are HP cartridges I bought and now after all cleaning procedures, I have now exhausted all new cartridges.  My warranty is exceeded, even if I have not received the new printer last Christmas, but my family he registered in August when they bought it for me.  I'm going to buy new cartridges, but I fear that I will lose more money that this problem will not be solved.  Someone help.  I have uninstalled, reinstalled, cleaned print heads, tried to align the cartridges but error message appears then all new Board would be good.  Thank you

    Hello Cath,

I'm really sorry to hear about your Photosmart 5510 aligning properly and not printing in black ink. I understand that you have tried to align the printer and it has not solved the problem. I want to help you and make you my best to do it!

At this point, I do not pretend to try new cartridges (especially black) and trying to do the alignment again. I found a useful troubleshooting guide following which solves the problem, I hope.

Here's the guide I recommend following step by step:

A "alignment failed" Error Message appears on the printer

    * Tip - make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet.

Please do not hesitate to post your results here and I will help you further if necessary.

    Take care

  • OfficeJet 6500 new black cartridge installed, but print Brown (all colors) instead

    Hello

I replaced the black cartridge in my OfficeJet 6500, and clicking on it.  (I triple checked it.)  However, when I try to print a document that is supposed to be any black ink, it prints in a Brown shade as if it is mix inks instead of using black-colored.   I printed a diagnostic page, cleaned and alignment of the heads of print and even restarted the computer and the printer.  Nothing helps!  I am still at work and I have documents that need to be printed!

    Do you have any suggestions?

    Thank you!

What operating system do you have?  For Windows 7, you would go to start, devices and Printerss, right-click on the Officejet 6500 and then select Printing Preferences.  You can change the setting 'document Type' in the tab 'Features', then click on apply.

The above will change the default value.  You can also change the print to a particular print job by selecting the print properties when you go to print.
