No Signal on external monitor

Good day HP,.

Ive recently bought a new TV/monitor. Its Asus 27T1E TV monitor.

I can't get this monitor to see the video (no signal) for the DisplayPort.

My laptop is an elitebook 8540w (ATI over-pants M5800). Using Windows 7 Ultimate x 64.

Windows tells me that my card drivers are up to date.

My configuration: Displayport--> dp/hdmi converter--> HDMI cable--> monitor.

Result; no signal, but my elitebook tells me there is a monitor (Asus 27T1E, this name is correct) connected.

I can move my mouse in the expanded view and when I take a screenshot, the two screens are included, but no image is displayed.

The tests:

EliteBook hooked to my dads tv (BeoVision 7)

DisplayPort--> dp/hdmi converter--> hdmi cable--> TV.

Result: Video (audio not tested)

another laptop (no brand, 3 years) with NVIDEA GeForce 9600 M GT

-->--> Monitor hdmi cable HDMI port (asus 27t1e).

Result: Video (audio not tested)

EliteBook hooked up with d - Sub in asus 27t1e

Result: video

These results lead me to two possible conclusions;

ASUS 27t1e cannot handle DisplayPort demoted in HDMI signal or

Laptop has some kind of error.

all proposals/solutions?

Please let me know.

Your troubleshooting leads me to the monitor ASUS having problems. The test with your father TV proved that your laptop is video production that should be displayed by a TV or a compatible monitor.

Try another monitor. If it works, then it is again confirmed be an ASUS monitor problem

    Hi mate

The only option that could be useful in your case is the use of the FN + F5 key combination.

  • Portege Z830: I want to disable internal LCD and use only the external monitor

    I have a Toshiba Portege z830.
I use my laptop in "Extended desktop", mode with an external monitor, which is the main display.
In this mode, the two screens are still on, but I want the built-in LCD screen to be opened only when I use it.

    Is this possible?
    Thank you.

    Hello

In my opinion, this is not possible.
In extended mode, you use and display internal but extended and the long part is visible on the external monitor.
In such a case its any that your external monitor is set as main display.

If you want to use an external monitor only, you can only export the video signal on external monitor by pressing FN + F5

  • NB100 - external monitor losing signal

    Dear al,

I started a few weeks ago to use my NB100 as a desktop computer, with a USB keyboard and a mouse and an external monitor. Unfortunately, I have an annoying problem: the monitor sometimes loses the signal and turn black or yellow, or whatever the color (which means it's not exactly 'lose' the signal by the way...) ...

First of all, I thought it was related to the used system, Ubuntu Jaunty (9.04), but the same problem appears with the original version of Ubuntu 8.04.

Note that this problem is apparently related to the resolution because I can switch mode text (Ctrl + Alt + F1) and the signal back.

The only way I found to get the signal on the external monitor is to restart the computer...

Everyone knows the same problem or could one of you try to connect the NB100 to an external monitor and use it for a while, check if the same problem occurs?

    Thanks in advance,
    Stone

  • External monitor is recognized not it says "no signal".

Original title: does not recognize external monitor

I use an external monitor, which is a TV for watching movies via the port HDMI on my ACER Aspire 6930 AVOL 22 "1080 p.  He worked in this configuration for at least a month, but recently my computer does not recognize the tv.  It says "no signal".  I tried a friends laptop and the tv works as advertised, so I'm sure it's the computer.  Any suggestions?  Thank you.

Well, I think that something to with my HDMI port/card does not work.  I discovered that we had a power surge from the other day, and I think that is what is happening.  He got zapped.  I found many programs that just don't have anything in them, and its been quite a process to get it all going again, but I can't get the HDMI port to work.  I got the VGA to work, but not the HDMI port.  I did the above a couple of times and made sure I had the correct drivers and latest, nothing helps.  Well.

  • MacBook 12 "and external monitors - experiences

That I have not found much info on using a MacBook 12 "with external monitors (but have found problems), I thought I would post my experiences here for the benefit of other researchers:

    MacBook 12 "with Dell u3415w (3440 x 1440) via a USB - C adapter Digital AV Multiport (HDMI):

VIDEO: Experienced random black screens on the external monitor. After update to El Capitan 10.11.4 version which included an update of the firmware of the adapter, the problem become constant, with the external screen crashing to black seconds nonstop. Switching the HDMI on the MHL port on the monitor completely solved this problem.

VIDEO: I'm only able to get a resolution of 2560 x 1080 scaling to fill the screen, which is a little fuzzy but fine for office tasks - selection reduced 3440 x 1440 or "best resolution for this monitor" translates into a look, windowed 16:9, with black bars on the right and left. I have not yet found solution to reach ultra-wide 21:9 angle at the native resolution (but would appreciate a).

VIDEO: Macbook 12 discs easily display 3440 x 1440 for tasks of office such as word processing and surfing. Video full HD YouTube is generally good, but gets now and then a little agitated.

AUDIO: Holding Option and clicking on the speaker icon in the menu bar show selectable option for the audio output to the device (monitor). On this screen, it seems to be a problem of reception of the signal of the Macbook when another device is connected to another port. In my case, a PC connected to the DisplayPort would be "laundered" the audio signal of Mac but ONLY if the PC has been out audio through external speakers, not the monitor (a lot of trial and error to discover this. When the audio PC sent ONLY to the screen, the monitor then accept the audio signal of the Mac, too. But have an external speaker connected via a cable audio 3.5 mm to the pc mobo (taken minijack) would somehow replace the TWO PC and Mac audio signal to the monitor. Something to do through the DP connection maybe)

with ASUS PB27Q (2560 x 1440) via an adapter, no problem.

with ASUS PA328Q more ASUS PB287Q (3840 x 2160 or '4 K') using the same adapter. Cursor extremely lag/Office up to that you enable DP (Displayport) 1.2 through settings on the screen of the monitors. This allows the Macbook to drive a monitor 4K at 30 Hz, which is always a little laggy, but realistic enough to be productive for word processing, surfing, etc. Would not recommend a 4K monitor for Macbook 12 for a really "nice" experience until / unless that 60 Hz is an option.

Hope someone finds this is useful.

    * Hi-speed III Port Replicator is not an option, because it is not available in my country (Croatia).

    Hello

I don t think you will be able to connect two external monitors to this laptop using HDMI and RGB port at the same time because of different types of signals.

The RGB/VGA port supports analog signal.

The HDMI port provides the digital video output and when the external monitor is connected to the HDMI port the device is set to HDMI.

  • Tecra M5 - external monitor detected but not image

    Hello

I just bought Tecra M5 for use with my external NEC monitor. However, regardless of the configuration, I try I get no image on the monitor. The LED on the monitor indicates that it receives the signal from the laptop but the monitor remains black pitch. The monitor works obviously very well, I just disconnected from another laptop.

I tried all possible settings in the nVidia control panel, but without success. I also changed "Power On Display" in the BIOS "Screen LCD + Analog RGB" but no luck either.

I have v.3.70 of BIOS and graphics card drivers v.7.15.

    Can anyone help?

    Thank you

PS When I press Fn + F5, I have no options to choose from, unlike the other FN +... combinations. I don't know that it should be everything, but it is perhaps worth mentioning.

Also when I select only 'use a view' of the nVidia control panel and select my NEC monitor in the list, the monitor turns on and the light turns green, but the screen is still black. Like I can't accept changes the output switches to the computer screen after a few seconds.

    Hello

I think you should test with the preinstalled Toshiba operating system.
After that the laptop was recovered, connect the external monitor and use the FN + F5 in order to detect the external display.

  • External monitor satellite 4030 CDT

    Hi Please help
    I have a Satellite 4030 CDT running windows 98 with a trident cyber9525DVD W98 driver/video card (22) PCI/AGP.
I bought a LCD TV and I would like to use it as an external monitor.
When I use the Fn + F5 to switch I do not get a signal on the external screen, but when in display properties and I only check the box marked "extend my desktop to this monitor", I get a signal. I checked the check box selected in the view tab, in the hardware toshiba put in place. But I would use it as a main monitor and I cannot get it to work in the simultaneous mode.

    Hello

As far as I know it of not possible to use the external monitor as a primary monitor.
You can change the monitor settings, tv, display clone and extended desktop.

  • External monitor does not work on Vista of Tecra M7

My external LCD monitor connected with analog cable doesn't work on my Tecra M7 with Win Vista and latest driver downloaded today on this site to display. Display of Windows Mobility center see the trendy, office is extended to the second screen and Windows display settings dialog box shows the correct resolution of the external LCD. But there is no image on an external monitor (with the 'no signal' message just after turn on the monitor).

Any changes to the display (resolution, type of display (mirror, second screen, primary/secondary)) the settings do not work.
Monitor works fine with my old laptop and Windows XP.
If I restart my computer M7 laptop with connected external display I see loading messages and windows on external monitor logo and after that I see only painted while internal lcd to my laptop is black and I can't move at all internal lcd in this case (only restarting with external display disconnected works in this case).

    Hello

Did assign the external monitor as the main screen in the graphics properties?
I think you did this due to the fact that the Toshiba splash screen appears on the external monitor.

But just moment please. The Tecra M7 was delivered with Win XP Pro tablet edition and not Vista.
Have you installed it you own hand?

I guess that everything worked running Win XP
Maybe you should try to remove the graphics driver Vista system and use one from the 3rd site like www.laptopvideo2go.com

    Hello

How have you tried to exit from display on an external monitor?
Usually, you use the FN + F5 key combination.
This allows you to switch between the two screens; laptop + external display.

I had a problem to view a video on the external monitor because the video is already running. You must switch to the external display until you start the movie, etc.

  • Portege R500: external monitor does not work with the Port Replicator Port 2 and DVI

I have a Portege R500 running Vista with a slim Port Replicator II and digital monitor Viewsonic.
I connected the monitor to the DVI port on the port replicator and got it to work OK.
Press fn + F5 would switch between the computer screen and the external monitor.

Then it stopped working, and I can't make it work at all. F5 recognizes just the laptop screen.

If I connect an analog display, it is fine, and I can pass between the two screens without difficulty.

The strangest thing is that, if I reboot when the Portege R500 is docked, the digital monitor begins by displaying the boot sequence, but then the signal is lost as soon as the screen stops the display of the progress (in low resolution) bar.

I spent an hour on the phone to support Friday, and he made me nowhere.
They finished by saying that he should never have worked! So what is the DVI port because then?

    Any ideas?

    David

Connect your monitor directly to your laptop and see if it is recognized and you can go through FN + F5 between the two views.
If it works, then connect with port replicator, and then try again.

It's probably best if you reinstall display drivers. Maybe there are new too on the download page.

then a VGA - VGA cable

    > What do I need?

Well, the phone supports only the output HDMI port. This port sends the signal video and audio digital.

In the case where your external monitor supports only RGB (VGA) port, you will need to use some sort of adapter/converter, which would be able to convert the digital signal HDMI to VGA analog signal.

I put t know if the adapter might work, but you will not get sound because VGA does not support audio, only video signal.
