OfficeJet 5740 [redacted] s/n: ink cartridge problem 5740

My 5740 is less than 6 months old. I inserted a new black cartridge 901 and a new tricolor cartridge 901 and a few printed pages.

I now am getting an error for ink problems cartridge to remove and then reinstall, first black and now both cartridges. I reinstalled them several times and have restarted the printer twice.

What can we do? This printer has worked quite well up to this point. Thank you.

Hello @Mikegaand welcome to the Forums of HP, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I see that you have problems with the cartridge. I would like to help!

I recommend you start by removing the ink cartridges and perform a power reset.  Unplug the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug back in the printer. Make sure that you connect the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any surge protector or power bar.

I would also say to following the steps found in this document:

A 'lack of cartridges' or 'Problem of ink cartridges' Message is displayed on the control panel

Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting operations. If this solves the problem, click on accept the Solution below, as well as others to find the answer.

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Printer Photosmart D7560: message 'ink cartridge problem '.

I received an alert of yellow ink.  I replaced the cartridge CORRECTLY, closed the access door and I had the 'ink cartridge problem' indicating the cartridge seems to be missing or damaged.    The cartridge is new and I reinstalled it 5 times already.  I unplugged the power cord - both ends.  I turned the machine and then turn it on again.  YET I still get the 1) 'ink cartridge problem', 2) the warning of ink and finally 3) the printer does not print.  Can someone help me?

The document here can help solve the cartridge error message on your Photosmart D7560 printer.  If the steps in the first three steps do not resolve the problem, you will probably need to replace the cartridge.  In this case, see here for cartridge guaranteed, assuming it's a HP cartridge.

  • 'Ink cartridge problem' with model C309g

I inserted a new black ink to the my Photosmart C309g. I want to only use black instead of having to buy the colors as well. When I put in the dark, the screen comes up with 'ink cartridge problem", saying that the following cartridges (all color and black in the photo) are missing or damaged. Is any way to get the printer to work with the black only? I can't make it past the 'problem' screen and it will not bypass it with me I'm trying to print something in black and white.

Thank you in advance for your help!

@khuransh, you will need to replace the color cartridges until you are able to print again. The printer will not work without the color cartridges if you try to print in black. Color cartridges mixed with black to form a true black color. So when the colors are missing, the black will not work.

@creditcard, the same applies, if the cartridge of yellow that came out, the black will not work because she needed some than yellow to form a black.

  • HP Officejet 4630: Hp Officejet ' ink cartridge problem: the following ink cartridge must be replaced '

We've had this printer for several years and she did beautifully until I bought a new ink colored and installed and all of a sudden, he said that there was a lack of ink cartridge. Then I went out and bought black ink (because it is low in any case) and installed it but this message kept popping up 'the following ink cartridges need to be replaced' (for color) even if she had new ink cartridges. But all trying to find a solution, I discovered the functions of the good printer without going through a color cartridge inside, but as soon as I put the color cartridge inside the same error message appears on the color ink. I tried to clean it up and unplug it and clean the cartridges. IM wondering if my last choice is to bring in the printer if it looked

    Good evening
It was in fact unfortunately useless that I did all these steps twice I even bought the new ink color for this printer and the problem persists. I hope I can find a solution quickly!

  • HP OFFICEJET series 4620. Ink cartridge problem

Buy this printer yesterday.  Followed the instructions re insert the cartridges.  Installed the software.  Keeps saying: install cartridges and I can't go out re ink cartridges - insert operations for the cartridges being too far over to the right.  I have #m at a loss what to know.  I have it turned off and on again, but the problem persists.

    Thank you

    Hi Sheilaoc,

I understand the printer refuses the cartridges and the transport is stuck on the right side. I want to help you solve this problem, so you can start enjoying your new printer.

I suggest that first you open the door of ink, leave the printer and unplug the power cable. Is the power cord unplugged, you can now move the carriage to the Center and remove the cartridges. Once the cartridges are removed, close the access door and plug the printer back. The printer will now start again and it will prompt you to install the cartridges. If this does not resolve the problem, use the following document for additional solutions. A "cartridge problem," "ink cartridge failure," or "Incompatible cartridge" Error Message is displayed on the control panel.

Just in case the problem persists, call HP for your warranty options.  The number of call HP is 1-800-474-6836 for the Canada and the United States, or you can Contact HP worldwide.

    I hope this helps.

  • Ink cartridge problems

I have a HP Officejet 4500 wireless printer. It gives me the msg that I have 'Print Cartridge Problems'

I changed both cartridges for those never used and still have the same problem of msg.  Until today it works fine. I knew that both cartridges were very low on ink but changing the two had nothing. I don't know what to do.

I would be grateful for any suggestions.

    Thank you
    Alex

    Hey Alex

He gives the msg for the two cartridges, or does not specify black or tricolour flag? Have you tried cleaning the contacts on the carriage of the printer? You use genuine HP cartridges?

    Thank you

  • Ink cartridge problem (three colors)

Our HP Officejet J4680 seems to quickly browse the printer cartridges.  Today, the exclamation mark beside the display screen flashes yellow and the display shows the message - problem of cartridge-print (HABs) of the suggestions?

    Hi craigeaton,

You replace the cartridges as soon as levels become weak? Your type of printer can continue to print with until there is so little ink printing will disappear to nothing. So, as long as the print is OK, you don't really replace the low ink cartridges. Using the draft if possible mode also helps.

Of course, there is a problem with the Tricolor cartridge. You can use the steps listed in the link below to try to get it working again.

  • OfficeJet Pro 6830: Installed new ink cartridges on 6830, but they were not full

I've been using this printer for about two years now, been through "Print head problem" for both, they exchanged once and replace only the part once.

My ink colour C, M and there were emptied at the same time, so I ordered all three in an online store. I installed a few minutes ago and check the ink level via the touch screen of the printer. It turns out that they are not quite complete. They are almost full, C and are close to full, but M is less complete.

I wonder why this happens? I never checked the ink level in the past, but it surprises me. The printer makes some kind of calibration and printhead cleaning to get ready installed ink? (So consumed little ink)

I scanned the QR code on the side of boxes of ink and checked the hologram stickers and pretty sure that they are genuine. The printer also said that they are authentic.

Here is the picture of my ink level. Shot after installation of the cartridge and nothing printed.

Another strange thing is the date of installation. Now it is April 4 in my country but the web printer configuration page shows cartridge installation date is April 1! I checked the date and the printer and everything is OK.

If the cartridges have been used before, the printer screen would show a message that cartridges have been used on another front printer. I saw only me because I kept the old ink before trading in the past as I said up there.

    Please see a screenshot below

Everyone knows what happened? Or it's normal? (The packaging and seal in plastic cartridges seemed fine, nothing suspected weird)

    Thank you.

    Welcome to the HP Forums

    @BlackMiracle,

I came across your post about the concerns that you have with the help of your new ink cartridges and I wanted to share my own suggestions. The date being out for a few days is a bit strange, but the rest seems normal. Yes, when you install the cartridges, they are calibrated and alignment and clean, that uses a bit of ink. The levels that you see are also "estimated" levels If there are print quality problems or error messages, let me know and I'll do my best to help.

    I hope this helps!

I just registered to instant ink HP.

All new Instant cartridges have been installed on January 28, 2015, I printed just 2 pages.
