OpenManage Essentials SQL DB

Can someone tell me if there is a limit on the number of devices that can be analyzed in Essentials when it is configured to use SQL Express as the back-end database?

Wsowka,

OpenManage Essentials with a SQL Express database can support up to 500 devices, as seen on page 19 of the manual found here. It also shows the other configuration requirements as well.

Let me know if that answers your question.

  • OpenManage Essentials "Devices" tab missing

    Hello

I have installed OpenManage Essentials of this year beginning. He worked a much brought us good value.

Now about three weeks ago the tab "devices"in the web application under the menu "Manage" suddenly disappeared.

I can still search for devices (However by clicking on in the bar nothing research happens), notifications of changes in System State work fine as well. Basically, everything works as it should, just this single menu item is missing which I think he has some importance within the application.

I tried to repair the installation that has not helped.

I'm running OME on version 2.0.1.2222 on a virtual Windows Server 2008 R2, fully patched, as well as SQL server 2008 R2 on a separate instance of W2k8R2.

Can I do something to fix this problem without having to re - install OME? (and reconfiguration should the problem be the associated database)

    Thank you

    Hello

Yes, it seems that some the key of OME plugin cannot be loaded.  That is why the tab is missing, etc.

It is is like a database corruption problem.

Best to open a support ticket at 800-945-3355.  If they can get a copy of the database, it might be useful for the team to consider in order to help understand what could have gone wrong.

But a new inst will probably be in the cards.

    Kind regards

  • PowerConnect M8024 and OpenManage Essentials 1.2.1

    Hello

We have installed OpenManage Essentials to manage our Dell hardware (servers, PowerEdge, M1000e of the chassis and switches PowerConnect.

We have configured SNMP inventory and discovery for switches M6220 and M8024, but M8024 those who don't show their serial number (other stock items are ok).  The M6220 inventory is complete.

SNMP community string used for discovery is a read-only.

    Where is the error?

  • Alert creation user OpenManage Essentials

    Hi all

I would like to create an alert action, which will send an email when a new user is created on a server any. Is there an alert category for this? I see the system events > alert2SecurityInformation; who will provide this information, and could it be filtered to include only events of creating user?

    Thanks in advance.

    Srutherford,

Unfortunately, it would be able to report on these fields, as they are software services. OpenManage Essentials is a management application hardware that provides an overview of the systems, devices and components in a Dell corporate network. Which based its alerts off material.

Let me know if this helps answer your question.

  • OpenManage Essentials - update error on PE610 systems

    Hello

After completing the updates of systems on the server PowerEdge 610, I went back to OpenManage Essentials to refresh the inventory.  Then, I went to the update systems, and click on the check box of the PE610 that I've just updated and I got this pop up window error:

This device does not have the minimum supported version of update iDrac.  Upgrade to a newer version of the iDrac.

I went to Dell.com Support section and not sure what to install.  Could someone please indicate the installation file?  This will force me to reboot the server?

    Thank you.

You can try to remove and to rediscover this system to see if it pulls the correct information of the iDRAC?

  • Using OpenManage Essentials to deploy firmware on ESXi 5.1 servers

It is possible to deploy updates firmware on server ESXi 5.1 uses OpenManage Essentials?  ESXi servers in our environment are discovered and inventoried, but the deployment of the firmware option is not available.  ESXi servers do not appear on the 'Systems' or 'Non-compliant' tabs under Manage\System update.

    Currently using:

OpenManage Essentials 1.3 (installed on a Windows 2008 R2, Enterprise Edition Server)

5.1 ESXi (installed on Dell PowerEdge 900 servers)

Ah, just noticed you said PE R900.  Those who can not have an iDRAC... so could be a problem given this config.

  • Dell OpenManage Essentials 1.1.0 and physical/virtual drive information

We have OME installed on a server, and we followed the servers with it. I just added the customers, who are mostly Dell Precision T3500s, and I installed OMCI on clients. Customers found out and I get health and inventory data, but I get no information about physical disks is or virtual drives on the clients or servers. Am I missing a setting somewhere, or if it is not supported by this version, and I'll have to upgrade to the latest version?

    Doug

Hey Doug, thanks for the question.

I remember that we have added a few additional customer stocks associated with disc in the version 1.3 of OME.

    Thank you very much

  • OpenManage Essentials GUI crashes

Howdy! Just installed OME 1.2 on a PEDGE 2950/Windows server 2008 R2. When you attempt to connect to the remote box of OME via https://servername:2067 /, the banner of the OME (so I know that the Web server is in place) but hangs just forever.

New to MOE, this is my first installation, any tips would be appreciated! Don't know where to start troubleshooting.

    Hello

You happen to have a group policy that requires FIPS compliance?  This error seems to fit this model.  OME 1.2 is not FIPS compliant, if we look at it for the next version.

    Can you review and accountability?

  • Encrypt the connection to the SQL Server

I have a new installation of OpenManage Essentials 2.1 and have a quick question. Our database of MOE is hosted on a remote SQL Server cluster. Is it possible to configure the database connection to use encryption/SSL when connecting to the cluster? We need it for compliance with our security policy, but unfortunately the installation that the user interface does not expose this option.

If not is it possible to manually change the connection string?

Note that this is in that concerning the encryption of the SQL Server connection between HOME servers and database, not HTTPS.

    Thank you
    Andrew

    Hi André,.

OME encrypts all sensitive information before it is transferred to SQL Server.

Also, the connection to SQL Server used by OME information is encrypted and there is no option for a user to change this.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you
    Vijay.

  • Add the RAID 5 disk in an array without openmanage

Hi can anyone tell me if its possible to add a new disk to a RAID 5 existing table on a server without using poweredge dell openmanage software. The reason is that I am that it is almost impossible to get openmanage installed down to questions of sql and missing installation files. I'm not a DBA and that society relies completely on a sql server for all its activities on the day the day I don't want to change the Setup on sql server options.

OMSA didn't need SQL. I think that you install rather OME (OpenManage Essentials). OpenManage Server Administrator (Managed Node) is what you need.

You can do this on some newer controllers, but without knowing what system and controller you have, hard to say. Nothing more than 3-4 years need OMSA. You can also use a live disc OMSA to start education reconfigures.

  • N3024 snmp trouble with openmanage switch.

    Hello

I have two new N3024 that I want to manage with openmanage essentials.
I configured N3024 with a name of community and also put in place a notification recipients.

The two switches openmanage shows upp under devices.
But they both have a yellow alert on them.
If I try to go to the web interface of openmanage, it takes me to the address 0.0.0.0
Under general / health in the switch I see nothing wrong.
    What is the problem?

I also try to get the N3024 to send traps.
I have test it with linkup and linkdown.
The newspaper of trap on the switch that I can that a trap is generated but in openmanage nothing comes in.
I have no problem with any other material traps.
Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?

In general the latest firmware has several improvements on the 6.1 firmware SNMP protocol. After the upgrade is done we should test and see if all the problems are solved. If this isn't the case, then we can look in that still does not work.

  • OpenManage 7.4.0 do not pick up disk failure or removal until you restart

    Hello
I've been rebuild a Dell T310 customers with new 4 x 450 GB SAS Raid 10, using his H200 raid card and that you have installed Windows HyperV 2012R2.

All software packages, drivers, and software have been installed and updated, and I began to test my OMSA DellAlert.ps1 script for notification by e-mail.

I decided to get one of the 4 drives to test the notification, but OMSA has not detected any withdrawal from disk! Very disturbing! I left that he unplugged for 9 hours and always OMSA showed 4 discs online. Even refreshing the OMSA browser, or closing and reopening the browser has not changed anything. Only when I reboot the server it then shows a disc had been removed and my script notified E-mail me this.

I pushed the disc in and again 3 hours later OMSA has yet to show that nothing has changed. Discs 3 and 4 activity watch as they rebuild but if OMSA is not displayed any changes how I'm destined to receive alerts to show when a disk has failed and raid has deteriorated.

I can't put this server back in my client until this issue is resolved. Has anyone seen or had this problem before? Any help would be grateful. I guess my next step will be decommissioning OMSA and firmware etc or reconstitution with 2012 HyperV server test.

Update 1 - if I stop and restart the Server Administrator service and DSM SA Data Manager then the notification comes through and loggin in the OMSA shows the missing disk.
The LCD on the server changes to orange as soon as the disk is pulled so the underlying hardware seems to work ok, it just seems to be the OMSA 7.4.0 2012R2 HyperV software.

Update 2 - I've upgraded OMSA to 7.4.0.1 and nothing has changed. I noticed that the show OMSA Embedded System Management (ESM) logs MAKE a disk has been deleted or inserted, but the section alerts and all other areas of the OMSA show no changes until the services are restarted or rebooted Server!

Fix possible update 3 - I reinstalled a copy eval 2012R2 with a graphical interface to see if that fixed it but it was always the same questions. My only solution seems to be 7.4.0 uninstall and install OMSA 7.3.0. I now put my HyperV 2012R2 system on and confirm that the 7.3.0 works as well for her.

Thanks for the update and all the information.

Our engineering has checked this issue. 7.4 OMSA does not properly report status on the H200 and SAS 6/ir changes. This affects programs such as OpenManage Essentials and OpenManage for VMware Vcenter integration using OMSA to monitor servers.

A fix is planned with OMSA 7.4.0.2

  • Essential SNMP/OpenManage/Ncentral on Windows Server R2 block of 2012

    Hello.

I have problems on the two servers Dell with Windows 2012 R2 key and SNMP reporting.

We use SNMP and OpenManage for reporting to Ncentral (monitoring system).

I tested and I know that the configuration that I use only does not work on Windows 2012 R2 key and Dell servers.

In the event viewer, I found this:

The SNMP Service encountered an error when accessing the registry SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SNMP\Parameters\ExtensionAgents key.

    Any suggestions?

    Luca

    Hi Luqa,

Are you referring to OpenManage Essentials (OME) or OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA)? More like OMSA. This forum is dedicated more to MOE, if you can move this post on the forum of general systems management, you would get more help there.

  • Report of guarantee with several duplicate entries

I seem to have a problem with the warranty on my Dell OME installation status.  Previously, I was running version 1.2.0 and I started noticing multiple entries for servers with less than 90 days of warranty remaining.  Initially there was a writing by contract of service by the server, so I'm used to seeing 2 inputs for each server.  However, the problem gradually snowballed to the point where now I see a report of 90 day warranty list entries in 1345, when OME only communicates with 94 servers, with only 9 servers who have reached the 90-day expiry period.

I performed the 1.2.1 update this morning, but the duplicate entries always appear in the report of the guarantee.  Using the troubleshooting tool, I am able to query the correct information of the API of warranty Dell, which leads me to believe that there may be some database entries that are not be cleaned.

Any ideas on how to clean these duplicates?  Is there something I can try the web console of OpenManage Essentials?

If this topic has been covered in another thread, can someone point me in the right direction?

If you are uncomfortable with performing queries on your database directly (AFTER making a backup), you can use SQL Server Manager (free) and delete the entries in the table of coverage. The table is re-filled when the report is run. Use the following SQL to clean the table.

    Remove from dbo.warranty

If you are not comfortable doing so, you can instead open a ticket and have the support guys review (800-945-3355).
