  Yes, the cards ARE limited about the upper limit of the speed of transport that they support.

  Typical ranges are 1000 Mbit and 100Mbit.

  This is indicated on the box, as the old maps of enternet are usually labeled 10/100 and the most recent of those Gigabit Internet.

  However, to really get 1 Gb ethernet through provider, you must have a fiber optic connection - and they are available only in limited areas.

  In addition, 1 GB enternet is usually very expensive, often amounting to several hundred dollars a month.

  My guess - is that Time Warner is limiting your connection speed limit!

  Can I prove this - no. they will admit it - no.

  I say this because I PAY a lot for 50 MB/s (which isn't bytes, bits) from Verizon and I regularly monitor my connection speed, so I don't know what to expect.

  And then one day, after a series of large downloads, I suddenly noticed my speed of transfer flattened out - a bit like what happened to you.

  I contacted Verizon, demanding to know what they were doing - and the tech person told me my Modem must have went wrong - and they would send me a new one night.

  OK... maybe... After all, the material DOES not lack.

  So, the next morning, I tried again - before replacing the old modem - and my previous transfer speed was back!

  I talked to other people, and they met the same situations - ISP limitation of people.

  So call them and maybe they will send you new equipment that will fix the problem of speed (miraculously!).

  With the help of hp pavilion 500 - a60. 3 years.  Just go to uverse internet.  Several times per minute for 10 seconds let connect to internet and flickiering of thin lines on the screen.  Att says tech problem is w/workstation.  It was suggested that it is to old for higher speeds of the internet.  Running @16. 75 Kbps.  Also the virus/malware issue.  I found some maleware and it was quarentined.  Do I have to old one computer or is there a problem of processer, virus problem?  Thanks for the help.

  That the Forums are with you!  I understand that you are having problems with your internet connection.  I'm happy to give you a helping hand with this.

  First of all, in response to the assertion of a fact on your system by being too old for a connection high speed, it is false. Your computer is configured with Windows 8 or 8.1. Computers that were there when Windows 98 came out were capable of high speed internet of one kind or another.

  A more valid concern is what is happening on your computer or with the hardware or virus/malware problems that you described.

  I suggest that you first cross this document: HP - slow Internet troubleshooting (10, 8 Windows) computers, but for the time being refrain from Step 7. You can try your ISP again later.

  Depending on whether your connection is wireless or wired try one of these documents:

  HP PC - Troubleshooting wireless network and Internet (Windows 10)

  HP PC - troubleshooting wired home networks (Windows 10)

  After everything checked and if your connection is still slow, then try contacting your ISP again.

  I just got an email from HP on an update for my present bios and a download for this update. I'm afraid to change a crucial part of my system, especially when I'm having no problem with the current system. What happens if my computor, for some reason, does not work after the upgrade?   Strange that you would receive an email regarding an update of the HP BIOS, personally I do not these emails unless I asked for it.

  If your system works well, ignore it for now.  If it's not broken, don't fix it is my motto.

  Hello. I am totally non-technical, assume it please I need to hold the total hand. Thank you!  My flag has a problem reading of mp3 files, where he stutters, crashes, offsets and buzzing during each song, and especially when almost anything else that is happening, as typing this note or even play Solitaire. It has been happening with both mp3s and streaming internet videos/songs since I got the machine 2 years ago, but became much worse.

  It becomes worse when doing things online, but the Task Manager shows the CPU usage is rarely above 30% and the use of the RAM about 60% (I have 6 GB).  My hard drive is 640 GB, with close to 500 GB still free. I did analysis, defragmentation and junk file clean up disk and registry (Avast Pro w / Grimefighter) does not. I tried several players, but all have the same problem. I've never had this problem with flags return to Windows 95 days.

  Similar problems reported by users of Intel on various brands of computer suggest updating or disabling Utility Intel Matrix Storage Manager. I have the quad core from AMD and couldn't find any info on AMD Matrix Storage Manager. I don't know what it is or what it does, or why it might be useful, or what harm I might cause with her antics.

• Pavilion 500 - A60 wireless connection mouse

  This computer comes with a mouse and wireless keyboard, although I didn't know it when I ordered it. The dinky mouse kills my hand. In addition to arthritis, a little, I have minor injuries that make it difficult to use the mouse.

  How can I connect my mouse to this computer? It is much easier on my hand than the one provided. I tried to connect it to all the USB ports, but it does not work.

  I use Windows 8.1 on x 64 computer.

  I had two other pavilions and liked them, but this is a dealbreaker for this computer. I might have to return because of this stupid problem.

  The UEFI Diagnostics update to the latest version is a good plan. The latest version is much more diagnostics component than the original versions.

• Internet connection issues

  I am running windows 8 using internet explore #10. All of a sudden, I have the following problem. I tried the system restore, but that did not help. This just started yesterday. No new program added. When I click on the internet icon I get the message following hp support Assistant... "Internet explorer cannot display the webpage." Launch control network HP... what I'm doing. The health check through the collection of information, diagnosis of problems, reset the adapter Realtex, until the status of the connection is OK. Then I can connect to the internet. But when I turned off the computer and turn it on later I have to go through the same operation. No one knows what is causing this and how I can fix this problem. Please help me if you can. Thank you very much.

• USB keys - problem with the Recovery Manager

  I bought a 16GB Kingston DataTraveler 112 USB key so I could copy the recovery as a backup image. He acknowledged the USB key and showed that the recovery image has been slightly more than 11 GB. But when he started to format the USB key, it returns to the previous screen and asking more of the car. At the bottom of the screen, he said to contact the HP Support, but it gives me an error message. Now when I try the Recovery Manager it does not recognize the USB at all.

  Before that, I had bought another 16 GB USB - don't remember what brand. I have 5 other USB drives, but they are all small, except a 32 GB Kingston DT101 G2 which does not work on this computer, even if it worked on my old computer (Pavilion w/Vista Home Premium) without problem. All these USBs, including the new Kingston are for USB 2.0.

  Operating system is Windows 8.1 64-bit on the desktop HP Pavilion 500 - A60. I tried the problem that USB keys in all 4 ports (2.0 and 3.0). Also in that I plug into a port to give me 3 USB ports, also used on my previous computer.

  Is it possible that this computer does not recognize Kingston or some other brands of USB thumb drives?

  The trick to this is to use a USB 2.0 port and use a non-windows 8 certified thumbdrive. If the USB flash drive shows as a 'removable device' there should be no problem in the use of the media to create a recovery media

  I had a lot of success with a 16 GB Transcend USB 3.0 flash drive.

  I own a couple of DataTraveler flash drives and had the same lack of success, creation of recovery media that you did. I have had zero success with 3.0 of Sandisk Extreme usb flash drives

  Well the title says it all. I have a new Pavilion A6 VISION AMD 23

  I wanted to play a music CD and the melodies were converted to MP3 on a flash or on my Motorola Xoom. Let's just say a flash drive for now.  What is the procedure?

  Can I save and save it somewhere first and then convert them?  The 23 Pavilion comes with software that does this? How about Realplayer or Media Player? I also have the Cyberlink Media Suite together.

  Using Windows Media Player... in general, you insert the CD and the rip of the songs (or all tracks) in the music/media library. After you are done the ripping, you can copy files to a USB stick or other storage device.

• Pavilion 500: HP500-326na does not start... not the power of USB devices

  Three days of warranty expirition my HP Pavilion 500 turned off and will not start.

  The led on the back of the case is on.

  The led on the motherboard is on.

  Fans for the processor and the case work.

  There is no power to any USB port... so without mouse and keyboard.

  There is no signal on the screen.

  The power switch will not shut the unit, regardless of how long you hold in.

  There is no beeps on the motherboard at startup.

  I cleaned the dust.

  I have disconnected all drives and plugged back in one at a time.

  I deleted the memory chips vivid and re-sitting them.

  I removed the graphics card and re-sitting there.

  All to nothing does not.

  There is no way to run diagnostics or tests with a mouse and a keyboard.

  What else can be done to determine the case of this problem?

• Sound for A60

  In November, I bought a laptop satellite A60. I have some problems with the sound. When I play mp3 (with winamp or windows media player) my sound files suddenly change this Slow Motion, only outgoing version of the left speaker. By pushing the pause/play button makes the sound ok again.
  If one play a game, it happens too...
  If one play a dvd (with windvd) the sound is correct...

  I read that the realtek software could be the problem, or also the powersaver was mentioned. I reinstalled the latest energy saving, the problem is still there...

  Any ideas on this problem?

  as far as I know, that it is a RealTek AC97 driver problem. I searched the Internet and found this driver from realtek.

  But remember that this driver only be supported by the official Support from Toshiba!
