Photosmart 5520 paper damages

I have a recurring problem a 5520 Photosmart almost new. It seems to be with the paper feeding system.

During the report you paper paper being present, the rest of the time he's going to hang and fold the edge of the paper, where the feed mechanism seems to be, despite causing damaged to the edges of leaves, always in the same position.

I tried 5 different lots of paper (including a ream of paper from HP which translates generally default to feed)

Any ideas, I'm running out of patience with her!

Hi Frit_uk,

Take a look on the link following which treats the "Out of Paper" error message  Click here  I recommend that you follow all the steps in the link, even if the printer has paper.

Does that help?

  • HP Photosmart 5520: HP Photosmart 5520 suddenly will not print or scan

Suddenly is no longer able to scan or print on HP Photosmart 5520. With the scan function I use scanning to e-mail, but, after long 'Preparation scanning' on the screen of the printer, the error message "temporarily unavailable.  "Please try again later". With the impression that I use Google Cloud Print (from an Acer Chromebook) and all that happens is that the demand to print everything ends up in a queue of print jobs.  No error message appears on the printer screen. The copy function works fine.  Wireless network printing results are very good.  The printer worked fine for over a year.  Can anyone help?  Thanks in advance.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer.

It's all very mysterious, but it seems to have corrected itself.  Finally, the 'out of paper' error message appeared yesterday (there were many), I pushed in the paper and things started to print again.  I was also able to rescan.  Not sure if she was no longer a problem of Google or what but we are in service again.

    Thank you very much!

  • Photosmart 5520: ink exhausted too fast

Photosmart 5520, I bought 4 months ago. Initially impressed. He ran out of black ink in double quick time. I concluded that HP half filled cartridges supplied with the printer. I put in a new black cartridge and is also sold out, already. Both should print 500 pages! It's a ream of paper. I know that I don't have something like this amount of paper used and would guess that I used less than 150 sheets, some in color. This is unacceptable. One has a similar experience or know what to do?

Thanks Shlomi. It looks like this. But as a realistic customer returns are important rather than those that manufacturers choose advantageously, to quote. In addition, let's say that my impression is 50/50 color/black and white. Who is llikely averaged over several months. Since the color returns are 300 pages and 250 black. Then 2xblack cartridges should finally basket 600 to 1000 pages and 1xcolour. I guess that the number of pages is not make the difference between color and b & w.
All cartridges now show low and it does not print anything. So 5 cartridges total allowed me to print of 365 pages. I think it is very very poor. 10 p per page is ridiculous in my opinion. I use photosmart for a further period of 6 months and then throw to a more economic type. My old Epsom was much better and still works. No Wi - Fi tho. I can come back

  • Photosmart 5520: Computer does not connect to Photosmart 5520 more

    Hello

I have a printer HP Photosmart 5520 which, until recently, worked absolutely fine! I even upgraded my laptop to Windows 8 to 10 and the printer continued to work perfectly.

However, a few weeks ago the printer no longer. In other words: when I try to send a print job to the printer from my laptop (wireless), the computer says it can't find the printer. The printer is on, certainly on the same network as the laptop's wireless and nothing has changed in this network. But I keep getting errors.

I tried to solve the problem by deleting the printer in my computer and re-install the drivers, but when trying to run the driver installation program, it cannot locate my printer either. I can't locate even by manually typing the IP address of the printer (as Setup request)... Yet I don't know still certainly both devices are in the same network and I also double, triple checked the typed IP address.

I really don't know what else to do. I also do not understand the problem at all, because I have absolutely nothing changed in my computer or network... the printer became simply "inaccessible".

I'm now work around the problem by using e-print (send documents to print my eprint address), but I don't like this option because one) it's unnecessarily complicated. and (b) whenever you post a document, the printer prints an extra page with the e-mail address and it is a waste of paper and ink.

So if someone could help me with my driver/connection problem, I would be very grateful!

    Thank you

    Lenny

Running the diagnostics to http://www.hp.com/go/tools can help solve the problem.  Download and run printing HP and doctor Scan.

You mention that you have checked the IP address.  You can open embedded Web Server (EWS printer) by entering the IP address if the printer in your browser?

  • Re: Don't feed the Photosmart C310 paper

I followed all the instructions, unplugged and repluged, tried to clean the rolls twice with water and a soft cloth, printed from the printer and, replaced all the ink cartridges and clean this area.  Tried different paper, but I'm at halfway through the paper that I had used before.  Paper is not damaged.

I saw where you gave someone else a factory reset.  Could help you me please?

    Hi @PatriciaSW,

I can help you with your request to reset. I've moved your post from its original location, but see you tried everything suggested by DocCottle here: Photosmart C310 paper not feeding.

I'll send you a PM (private Message), but before I do, please see the HP Privacy Statement.

There are a growing number of messages in this forum and elsewhere in the internet with the steps to do a reset on different printers.  Reset to will sometimes fix problems, so resetting is not the issue.

A few resets require you to enter key combinations to open special menus on your printer that you were supposed to never access.  These special menus are used by developers and staff support for debugging of problems, but they are not intended for inexperienced users and can have unexpected results.  A wrong button push and you might no longer have a printer, but rather an expensive paper weight.  On top of that, if you happen to the 'brick' the printer in this way, it is considered as customer induced damage and voids the warranty automatically. These resets are only intended to be distributed and used as a last resort and under the direct instruction of a representative of the HP technical support. They should not be made lightly!

I just bought a HP all in one Photosmart 5520. It works fine as a printer, but when I scan or copy I get a 'white' scan / paper in white. And Yes, the text on the paper was facing the Analyzer anyone know whatcould wrong?

    Thanks for the reply AndersRH.

Sorry to hear about the issue. Because it seems to be a hardware malfunction, I suggest you call the Tech Support of HP. They may be able to give two options for replacement or trade in options.

  • Photosmart 5520 (but also others) duplex printing cleared at the bottom

Very recently, I bought a Hp Photosmart 5520 and I found that sometimes the bottom of a page is cut off when printing double-sided. I looked in this forum and found that this problem is hardware related and can not be solved, but there are solutions. I did a few tests with my current setup and I want to share my discoveries, here for other users waiting for HP to add a FAQ for the photosmart 5520 entry. (but also for the 6520 and 7520, probably)

The problem is clearly stated in a few messages, dating from September 2013 and Nov 2013, although it is not very easy to find

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/other-printing-questions/duplexing-discrepancy/m-p/2470573/highlight/tr...

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/scanning-faxing-and-copying/double-sided-printing-is-cut-off-short-Phot...

Basically, the margin of the low printable area is 3mm side simple impression, while it is 15mm (at least!) for the first page, double-sided printing. This is due to the fact that the printer must keep the paper in the output roll after that that he finished printing the first page. It is therefore IMPOSSIBLE to duplex - print a document with text or graphics that extends beyond the margin of the lower 15 mm, unless the page size is reduced so that the effective bottom margin is 15 mm. On the other hand, if the document does not contain text or graphics beyond bottom margin of 15 mm it CAN be printed double-sided without reduction.

IMHO, the problem is that the default behavior of the firmware of the printer, the drivers of operating system and/or applications do not always properly address this limitation leading to surprising or unsatisfactory results.

To better understand the limits and behavior of the printer, I have carried out tests under the following conditions:

    (1) copy 2-sided vs 1-side in the printer display

    (2) Windows 7 applications: Word2010, Foxit PDF reader, Acrobat PDF reader

    (3) 4.3 android: Cloud Print and HP ePrint apps

The firmware in the printer is MGP5CN1351AR (Sep 12, 2013)

The windows version of printer drivers is 28.8 (October 30, 2012)

For tests 2 and 3, I have prepared a document word of 2 pages with headers and footers located exactly at 15 mm of margin top and bottom of the page and I have produced a PDF with CutePDF (unfortunately this forum does not allow attachments, otherwise I would have attached it).

    The results were as follows

    (1) in 2-sided copy the last 15 mm on part and on the other copy of the output are empty, even if the text of the content entry page, while, in 1-sided copy only the last 3 mm are empty (resizing is turned off, of course)

    (2) double-sided printed of Word2010 gives a duplexer not resized when the printing preferences, advanced options, "Arrangement" is disabled. If it is set on, the output is reduced. Print PDF files is tricky: there are several different options in Foxit PDF and acrobat PDF. Auto-Centre and adjustment - on the page to print double-sided, but do not keep the right size in Foxit PDF reader; If preserve layout is off a significant part of the bottom of the page is not printed, apparently due to the fact that the margins are not properly managed by foxit PDF. Acrobat PDF instead, leave a good impression both sides preserve the page layout and scaling are disabled (obviously up to 15 mm).

    (3) android Cloud Print prints the word and pdf files WITHOUT a provision to 'preserve', this is why some clipping may occur; HP ePrint prints two word files and pdf reduced in size, as if "preserve layout" option has been set.

In summary, I'll leave the "preserve layout" options always on in windows and I'll take a cut on the side of double-sided printing and I use hp eprint instead of cloudprint. If the correct size is important to a PDF file, it is best to experiment with Acrobat PDF (even if it is not a light program). iI would be expected at HP improved the behavior of the windows printer drivers to print a PDF file.

I hope that this post may be useful to other people.

You are right, that the effective page size is reduced because of the extra margins required to manage the document in automatic duplex mode.  From the rear is donated in the printer from the bottom and bottom printed in the top margin is also higher top for the back to the front.

The checkbox 'Keep the page layout' is important for results appropriate, although it will reduce the effective print size.

I've seen reports before of Foxit PDF printing problems, I avoid and use Adobe Reader.

  • HP Photosmart 5520 what e-all-in-one printer cannot print correctly

    Printer: HP Photosmart 5520 e - all - in - one

    OS: Windows 7 Home Premium

I bought this printer a few months ago and he has not really used. Before the problem happened, never nothing changed. Suddenly, it was question to correctly print the colored pages. I checked the ink level, all are still ok, I cleaned the printerhead according to the guide of this forum, problem persist. All of the ink and paper A4 size are of original HP. Here is the copy of the page of "quality control". Can someone please advice what's happened and how to fix?

    Thank you!

The ink gauge is an estimate and is not accurate.  I recommend that you replace all cartridges with new HP brand ink cartridges and run the cleanup once utility cartridge.  If the print quality is not good, try to run the utility up to 2 times more.  The utility can help the ink flowing through the new cartridges.  Let me know how it goes.

    Good luck!

  • Print Photosmart 5520, 14 Chromebook and internet

I bought a HP 14 Chromebook for mother's day so I could give my DIL my laptop Windows 8 because all I used it for was e-mail and internet anyway and she had needed a new so I thought, this the heck, let's get the Chromebook and check it out.

I'm in love.  However, at the point where I just had a printer classic when I wanted to print, so I had to turn to my 8 year old office (now under Win 7) so I was able to print via the cloud.

Recently, my old HP printer (can you tell I love the HP products?)  Nope, not a representative paid or brown noser - I know just a good product when I use one and saw that I was involved in computers since 83, I know a little about them) quit printing black that is really bad, so I decided to buy a wireless network.

Without even really too attentive, I bought (I thought at the time) was a HP Deskjet printer - I need my copy and scanning - fax is not serious - and it had to be wireless.  I did not notice that what I GOT was the Photosmart 5520 with the ePrint feature.  I was in heaven.

And it WORKED!  Except that... for 1 small problem... it will not print in color and it wouldn't print via the net (I understood the problem of the internet, btw, for those of you who experience this issue even - if you look at your choice of the printer, you will see your 5520 and who says 5520 (Networking) - make sure you select the one that says just 5520 - NOT the network driver).

However, when I want to print color I spin on my desk of dinosaur and select the moment ungrayed to 5520 networked.  I figured out how to print 2 sides (too cool! Saving a ton of paper) not too bright on how slowly it prints my chromebook either - have not tried since my office again - it is connected wireless as well so it can print a little faster on a Windows-based computer.

Regardless of all this - is it possible to print on the net so that it is in color without having to turn to my office, and then select 5520 Networking?

Sorry for all the foreign info - sometimes I find I will mention something that seems out of place to me, but is in fact something with that someone is having a problem and get the answer they need.

Anyway, in the hope of finding that I'll be able to print in color, even without turning on the dinosaur.

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi Jodi,

I have a solution for you! My wife came home with a teal HP 14 Chromebook today, what a wonderful laptop! In any case, I added my ePrint printer and tried to reproduce the problem you described. Well, my first print job came out black and white, like yours. And I even made sure that I got the chosen color. I gave him another chance and took a slightly different path and it was released in color. Here's what you need to do... When the print window appears, on the scroll on the left down until you see "print using Google Cloud Print dialogue... ", then select it. Then, select your printer, and then change the color setting of Grey_CMY in color or Monochrome for black printing and true white.

The print dialog boxes are not pair, I don't know why that is. There may be a buried setting or maybe it's just the way it is for now. If it's like that, it shoudn't be that way and will probably be fixed in a future Chome OS update. In the meantime, I'll post here if I find a permant framework.

  • Photosmart 5520: Photo printing problem

I've just set up my new printer wireless to my PC and my ipad with no problems.   I just printed photo of

both using HP photo paper supplied with the printer, but the quality is terrible!  The ink is running in all directions and

take ages to dry, the colors are facing eachother, what makes the image completely garbled.  I'm not a fool!, I have

used various brands of printers over the years and found that the installation of ink cartridges is similar regardless of the brand.

I checked then double that they are clicked in place firmly.  I followed all of the implementation procedures.

I'm doing something wrong, or should I just try a different type of photo paper?   Printing simple text on A4 is fine.

    Hi @mum50,

I think you are something! I suspect that the problem is probably related to the book, but it might be better to use the following document to completely solve the problem: the problems of quality Print to the HP Photosmart 5520 e-all-in-one-HP Deskjet Ink Advantage e-all-in-one 5520, Printer series.

Please let me know the results of your efforts. Thank you!

  • New Photosmart 5520 will not print in black

I have a new HP Photosmart 5520 printer all-in-one.  Black ink ran out so I replaced it with a previously used ink cartridge which is of the same type # 564 but a XL version.  This cartridge has been barely used.  Now, I just can't get anything to print in black.  It will print in color, but not black.  I tried to turn off the printer.  I put the cartridge in my printer and it worked fine.  What should I do?

  • HP Photosmart 5520: Factory definition and "time".

I have a Photosmart 5520. While I was away I used a different printer and when I came to change the printer to my own he asked me a name administrators and password before proceeding. Of course like so many others I have not the slightest idea what is despite trying many combinations. Then, I tried to find out what others have done and took the printer back to factory settings. When trying to connect to the WPS PIN, (which lasts 4 minutes), he repeatedly said "timed out" just before the end, twice when he had only 1 second to go.

Can someone please tell me what I should do next.

    Thank you

    Hi @Emar12

At this point, the fact that you try to connect by using the pin code WPS tells me that you try to reconfigure the printer to your wireless network. If this is correct, run the Wireless Setup Wizard instead. To run the wizard, tap the wireless on the top of the screen (this is the 2nd of the 4 icons at the top), then navigate to and select Setup Wizard wireless. This wizard will search your network and then ask for the password.

    I hope this helps.
