Photosmart print in color on OS 10.5.8 but only b & w on Yosemite

I have a Photosmart D110 - CN731A.

It prints fine on my iMac old 10.5.8 current execution, but on my new iMac with Yosemite (10.10.1), it prints only in b & w I looked on printer and page layout settings, but did not see any adjustment of grayscale. I installed two different drivers, including drivers of old Mac. I also tried printing pages, jpg and pdf files.

I know that this printer is not supported on Yosemite, but it seems strange that it works very well, with the exception of printing color. This is not a cartridge problem because I tested again with the old iMac. Is there something I can do?

Thank you

Hey @msch912,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that since the installation of your device HP Photosmart e-all-in-one printer - D110a on your Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite operating system you have not been able to print in color. However, the printer prints fine color of your Mac OS X 10.5.8 OS. Therefore, we know that this is not a problem with your printer hardware. I would like to work with you today with the resolution of this conflict of driver which is causing color does not print.

Now although there is no package Full Feature software and driver available from HP for the installation of your printer, your printer has built-in driver support through the Apple updates. I think that a bit by cleaning your system and reinstall this problem should be solved. Please follow the instructions to reinstall your printer correctly.

If you use a USB cable connection, please unplug this cable now.

Step 1: Uninstall the drivers:

Because you mentioned in your post that your attempt to install the old drivers of your other Mac OS on this Mac OS X 10.10 operating system I'm going to take you through a few different ways to uninstall to make sure everything is removed.

If you used a CD-ROM or by download to install the printer drivers:

  1. From the desktop, double-click Macintosh HD, and then click Applications.

  • Photosmart 7520 will not print on color construction paper.

My Photosmart 7520 print text on color construction paper.  It feeds through the status bar, but does not print.

    Hey @JanMO,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

If you have a 7520 Photosmart all-in-one that doesn't seem to not want to print on color construction paper? Because the product is to feed the paper in the paper tray but isn't actually put ink on the page is does not seem to be a problem with the book itself and not filling not the management of specifications that your printer takes in charge for a type of paper.

According to the specifications of 7520 Photosmart it can handle:

    • Types of media supported: Paper (brochure, inkjet, ordinary), photo paper, envelopes, labels, cards (greeting), transparent
    • Supported media formats: Letter, legal, 4 x 6, 5 x 7 in., 8 x 10, no. 10 envelopes
    • Recommended weight: 16-80 lbs.

    Plug Photosmart e-all-in-one printer 7520

You know the exact weight of the construction paper?

Your printer will print on other media, such as plain white paper or photo paper glossy with no problems?

You could try to browse the next document in troubleshooting print quality, but please note that if your paper is not listed in the support media types, sizes or requirements of weight that you can do more harm to your printer.

  • Photosmart 2610 yellow color will not print

My Photosmart 2610 is a pig.  She refuses to print Yellow.  I went through several routines clean and preferred and changed the cartridge for a new brand, but nothing raises any dribble of yellow.  Any help would be appreciated - thanks.

I would gently pat dry the printhead on a damp cloth.  A working cartridge will have a strong task of cyan, magenta and yellow.  I suspect that your cartridge will show only cyan and magenta.

In this case, there are a few things to check.  Are the original HP or reman cartridges / filled?  The latter usually have poor quality, see the study here.   The other possibility is that the cartridges are original HP but outdated.  There is not all "expiry" on these cartridges that might lead to print does not correctly after a certain date, but very old cartridges may have failures in one or more colors.  Check the end of warranty date (two years from the date of production) as indicated in the paper here.  This date is also usually printed on the lower right front back the package.  If the cartridges are very old and well beyond the end of warranty date, this is the likely cause.

As a temporary measure, it can help to soak the cartridge in about 1 "of very hot water for about ten minutes, with the nozzle to the bottom plate.  Remove the cartridge and gently dry the electric contacts with a lint free tissue and try to print.

  • turn off the photosmart print color 6525

I use a Mac with OS X V.10.9.4 and have a PhotoSmart 6525. I can't seem to disable printing color for all documents, even when I select ' print black & white ' or ' grayscale print ' in the reference of the printer. It prints colors perfectly, but sometimes I want to just grey quick docs. I tried the HP utility, but could not find the opportunity to let me choose whether to print in color or black & white. I still want the parser must be able to scan in color, but the option for printing.

Anyone know how to solve this apparently simple problem that me completely baffled?

    Thank you!

    @diananmig

AirPrint driver will allow you to choose the option to print in "black and white".

  • Photosmart 7150: Printer prints correct colors of the web; printing of background colors incorrect when you print the document

I have a Dell desktop computer, using Windows 7 with a HP Photosmart 7150 (I know this is an older model, but I have no reason to spend).

When you print to the web, the colors are printed similar to what we see on the screen.  When I try to print a document that includes a background with color, the color prints differently.   The document I'm working on that requires a background textured printing on glossy photo paper.  When the document is formatted with a brownish background, the background is printed bright green.  When the document is formatted with a blue background lighting, the background is printed a bright torquoise.

I worked with the printer settings changing the quick project to the best print quality. increases the magenta color, but nothing seems to work.  The ink cartridge is fairly recent. I hate wasting more paper and ink.

    Any suggestions? Thank you!

Thank you for taking the time to try to help solve the problem of color with my printer.  I solved the problem: I had a PHOTO, #58 print cartridge in the printer.  When I changed for the black cartridge, #56, colors came out as it should.

    Thanks again!

  • Failed to get printer hp psc 2410 photosmart all-in-one to print in color

I have a hp PSC 2410 photosmart all-in-one printer. I use it on a system windows xp, 32 bit.

I went to make a copy in color on the printer and it gave an error on the black cartridge by saying that she does not recognize.  Had not changed or replaced the cartridges they were half full.  I tried to go out and reinsert the cartridge, but it did not work.

I replaced it with a new one.  Error disappeared, but it now only prints in black and prints any color at all.

Replaced the (full) cartridges with new ones, aligned and clean the printer started it twice, without change.

Close the pritnter and computer, did it again, same results.

Uninstalled and installed printer and software, same result.

What could have happened?  Behaves as if it doesn't have a color cartridge.

Here is a document for your printer who carry on Matt, missing or faded colours. This document starts and you then click on other links to documents based on your results from the troubleshooting performed. Stay with him and he will lead you to how to clean contacts and how to read the diagnostic report, once it prints.  I think that some steps are buried, so here a link to assess the self-test. Finally, here's a direct link to fix bad test models in the self-test report. I hope this helps. http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00048685

  • Photosmart 3310 prints random colors even when printing black

Photosmart 3310 prints random colors in color, print and even when printing black.  This happens with photos, copies and printing documents.  I cleaned the print heads, ran the scan/repair software that says that the printer works fine. tried color calibration and these charts don't print correctly to match the place.  The first printed grid gray background with the nuances of roses square.  Printed low rack square pink dark only on white, there was no way to calibrate.  I put in all new inks (hp only of course), and the printer recognized them.  I have unplugged, rebooted, uninstalled, installed again.  Help, please!  Thank you.

I'm sorry you are still having the problem with the printer. You can always review the HP upgrade program. This is where you can buy a printer refurbished at a reduced price, which will be accompanied by a full factory warranty. These printers will also be eligible for care pack extensions too.  The number for USA and Canada customers to call is 1-800-474-6836. I am adviser to this program so that know all the options that are available to them when we're under warranty.

  • Will not print in color from my Mac or iPhoto for HP photosmart D110

My printer will print only in black and white when I print from my Mac OS X 10.6.4 on my printer.  I uploaded the photos I photo and print only in black and white.  When I put the card directly into the printer, it prints fine color.

HP website was no help at all with this issue.  All of the suggestions.

Print a self-test of the front of the printer. It prints color? If this is not the case, there is something wrong with your color cartridge. What version of Mac OS X?

  • Photosmart HP 6520 - print in color, not black and white

I have had this printer for some time and configure options so that it used only the black cartridge unless I put it specifically to do otherwise when I wanted to color.  It worked well and I could switch between black and white and color very easily.  A few weeks ago, the printer started to ignore the options I would set and printed in color.  I double checked the parameters, and the printer is always set up for black and white, but now it completely ignores and still print in color.

I tried the settings at the time of printing, and that indicates that the image in black and white, it still prints in color.

I haven't added any software or made any changes to my pc.

Can someone help me with this, please?

Hi Lulu and thank you for the reply!

I suggest to download and run the HP print and Scan doctor.  Once you have run the tool successfully, try again the configuration in black and white.

Please let me know the results.

  • HP Photosmart Premium C310a: c310a print the color of evil

I bought new cartridges and when inserted, I tried to print and color of the image and printing are different. As an example, my picture in the computer is light green and it prints like a light blue and the Red turns purple. My computer is running Windows 7 64 bit. I cleaned the printhead twice.  Black seems correct, but the colors are false. My cartridges are inserted correctly.

    Could someone help me?

    Thank you!

It looks like the yellow ink is out or do not print. The C310a separated print head and ink cartridges, so it is very likely that the print head is clogged, such that even a new cartridge still show the question.

Try to do a 'clean' in the Tools menu print head, see if that helps (should see a spot of yellow, as well as red, blue, printed etc.).
