PROBLEM CONNECTING TO A MODEM/ROUTER TO COMCAST

My husband is trying to connect to my laptop to WORK FOR our COMCAST Modem/Router (IPV4) House.  There is a link between the laptop and the modem/router.  However, I can't get out to the internet WIRLESSLY and need to use a WIRED CONNECTION.  He did an audit of the IPCONFIG command AND maybe he thinks running IPV6 as we do at work.  It's what the IPCONFIG/all command shows:

IPv4 address: 172.X.X.20 (preferred)

Subnet mask: 255.255.0.0

DHCP SERVER: 172.x.x.1

IAID DHCP: 2255216532

DHCPv6 Client DVID: 15-digit number

Is that mean that the computer is configured to run on IPV6 instead of IPV4?  My husand does not have IPV6 on our home network?

He doesn't have SYSADMIN access, is there a way to fix this without sysadmin access?

I need to connect a cable modem to computer direct run connect script then modem plug in router all is well again.

Any ideas why the connection to the modem router is blocked?

My Speedstream has only an Ethernet connection so I did not know that he resembled a router for the local network. I changed the mode of bridge on the PPoE configuration on e2500 / Speedstream and reconnected to the ISP on the e2500 configuration screen. Who can solve the problem of reconnecting from now, it is run on the e2500.

One thing I see now is since I left the modem IP set to 192.168.0.X can't do it all through the e2500. Is it because my DHCP in e2500 is configured with 192.168.1.X range IP modem is not covered in my network? If I directly connect Speedstream and place you IP 192.168.1.X will become visible on LAN?

You are unable to access the modem even if you have a PPPoE connection. For PPPoE the E2500 will not need an IP address from the modem so it does not have DHCP on WAN port and so we never see. When you try to access the address of 192.168.0. * the E2500 it will route through the tunnel PPP to the ISP.

If you connect your computer directly to the SpeedStream it should automatically get a DHCP address (assuming that the computer is still ongoing on the DHCP protocol and not with a static IP address and the SpeedStream does not automatically neutralize the DHCP server in Bridge mode). If you have configured a static IP address on the computer, you must change the IP address to an address of 192.168.0. *.

  • C7280 all-in-One connected wireless to modem-router needs a password when it is fed - up.

Do you have examples of wireless connection to a HP Photosmart C7280-all-in-one to a network managed by a modem-router method NB6Plus4W? The modem-router attach also your desktop of Windows XP by using an ethernet cable and a laptop computer to Windows XP wireless using the default (wireless) SSID and password (a1b2c3d4e5).

The wireless connection between the modem and router and the laptop happens automatically when the modem-router and laptop computer are powered.

The wireless connection between the modem-router and the HP Photosmart camera does not automatically. When I put power on the HP Photosmart camera, I then use the setup on the Photosmart button and type manually in to the Photosmart (a1b2c3d4e5) password. The SSID also displays wireless, it doesn't have to be retyped.

Do you know if there is no method or HP configuration that will result in the automatic installation of the camera HP Photosmart to occur when it is powered?

What I am complaining about is having to manually type in the HP to HP password whenever the HP is powered.

Go to Setup > network > advanced settings > IP settings and now select Auto and press OK. See if this stops the question.

If that doesn't work, then go to settings > network > restore default settings of the network, and then run the Wireless Setup Wizard to connect to the network.

  • Loss of internet connectivity after the modem / router reset

I have a BEFSX41V2 and a Motorola SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 modem.  My provider is comcast.  After all devices reset, unplug the power and remove the cable / ethernet cable, I lose all access to the outside.

The strange thing is that if I connect any desktop or laptop computer at home directly to the modem, I have access.  In this case, the link for the transmission light / receipt of data on the modem is on.

I had to send signals of reset comcast several times but it does not solve the problem when the modem and the router BEFSX41V2 are connected.  In this case, the link for the transmission light / receipt of data on the modem is turned off.

Are there additional steps I must take on the router to reactivate the connectivity.

    Thank you.

    George

Have you tried to do a hard reset to the router and then reinstall parameters later? To do the reset, please press the reset button at the back of the router for 30 seconds while the unit is turned on. After unplugging and then start from scratch. • How to use the r6100 as a router connected to a modem/router C3700

Hello - I have a meg Xfinity 150 per second internet package. I bought a router modem C3700 combo and used for a few months. We have more than 20 devices connected to it, I wanted a simultaneous dual band router and bought the r6100. The current configuration is as follows - the coaxil cable enters into the modem or the c3700. A CAT6 ethernet cable goes from the c3700 to port internet r6100.

No other configuration don't get made in two packages of devices. All settings are stock except for the SSID and password and the password Netgenie has also changed.

These two SSID is named identical to support dual-band simultaneously. Everything works, but I wonder if it's the safest way to use these two features of netgear. I test in the 90's low extent of the MB per second. We pay for the 150 that makes me think that something is not the optimum installation program. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello japublications

Not your R6100 as a point of access if you configured so that might explain why it does not work when you do the c3700 a modem only.

  • Problem connecting to the new router

When we all first our WVC54GC Setup was quick and easy, and we used it without event for 1-2 years. Now, we have replaced our old router with a WRT610N. Everything else, wired and wireless, connected to the new network without event after I have updated their SSID settings and security. (A new uses WPA - WP2, the an old WEP) but for this camera I can not to do. I read the articles on this page and plugged all the correct settings, but it still won't talk of it in wireless mode. (With a cable that is no problem). What I'm missing here?

You must be identical on both devices wireless settings to establish communication between your router and the camera... Ensure that your camera settings Wireless 2.4 GHz of your router... Try Basic WEP security and see if that works, if WEP works you can change security to WPA... Once you have set matching the wireless settings, unplug the cable ethernet and power cycle the two devices and see if you can see your wireless camera...

  • Problem connecting to a certain router with several routers in the region

I'm in an apartment complex that uses wireless internet. Accordingly, there is a configuration of multiple routers around the complex. Some work to channel 11, some on channel 1. One of these routers on channel 11 is in my room.

I use the Linksys WUSB54GC wireless adapter.

My problem is that my adapter picks up about 4 at most of these various neighboring routers, including the one in my room. However, even if I select it, my card does never connect to the router in my room which is located on channel 11, nor the other 11 channel picks it up sometimes. Still, it will connect to one of the channel 1. It's a problem because all routers outside the bedroom vary in intensity of the signal wildly resulting in me are deteriorerait internet performance and sometimes the connection dropping out entirely.

Is it possible for me to force my wireless adapter to use the router in my room?

Go to your control panel, and network connections open, right click on wireless network connection and click Properties. Now on this window, click on the second tab "Wireless network" and remove all the preferred networks. Now try to connect.

can someone give me an answer.

    Thanks in advance.

Don't string two routers. Fill the modem/router or don't use the BEF as a router, but only as a simple switch (or replace it with a standard ethernet switch).

  • NETGEAR N300 Wi - Fi DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem Router (C3000) sees the backup HD Seagate but don't transfer

V1.01.11 firmware, OS is Windows 10

I bought the cable Modem Wifi Netgear N300. Except for the external hard drive Seagate (backup Seagate more 5 TB desktop external hard drive with 200 GB of Cloud Storage & Mobile Device backup USB 3.0 (STDT5000100)), all my devices connect to it without problem. However:

1.) when I have the hood upwards the Seagate external hard drive, the genius of Netgear he sees, but says that the drive has 0 bytes available.

(2.) that's why I can't back up by using the backup program WIndows 10 but

(3.) I can "manually" drag files from my PC to the Seagate HD (the PC is connected to the modem router cable via wifi.)

4.) when I connect the Seagate HD with a USB cable to the computer, the backup works.

It's frustrating because I want to use the Seagate HD as a backup for some of my devices and I want the devices to send their data or the Netgear router.

Can someone help me? It seems important that Netgear genius sees the HD Seagate but think it has no place.

I answer my own question (!) but is the answer that the HD 5 t is not compatible with the cable modem Netgear router? See:

  • LaserJet 4 Plus: can I use my DSL modem/router for my LaserJet 4 Plus a network printer home?

My LaserJet 4 Plus was connected to my old XP computer with a parallel port cable (?).  Can I make this printer to my Windows 7 and Windows 10 computers using ethernet cable port to connect it to my ADSL modem/router?  I tried to make the connection, but other computers can't 'see '.  This printer has been used as a network printer in an office environment.  I see an IP address when I print a test page, but I am unable to ping this address of my Windows 10 computer when I have the printer connected to my modem/router.  What should I do to make this visible printer?  Is there a way to check the IP address on the test page is still topical to the printer?  Any suggestion would be appreciated.

  • Router will not connect to internet (modem Comcast)

I have had this router for a few months with no problems. But this morning all my computers says limited connection... I'm still on the network, but not internet available.

I tried to unplug the power on the modem and the router, but the same thing happens. If I connect a computer directly to the cable modem, I have access to the internet very well, which leads me to believe that it's a junk router.

R7000 genius says not connected as well...

Since you seem to be getting an Internet connection very well when the connections of a PC connected to the modem, I would recommend that you try to spoof the MAC than PC. To do this simply:

From the PC that you are able to access Internet when connected directly to the modem, connect a cable to one of the four on the R7000 LAN ports. Connect to it via http://192.168.1.1/ with admin as user name and password as password. Click Advanced , and then select Setup -> Internet Setup. Make sure everything is set to automatic and dynamic and to the last option for The MAC address of the router you choose to use computer MAC address. Click apply and wait for the page to come back. He should get back to work now!

If it still doesn't work, please tell us how the Internet light on the front of the router is turned on (the globe).

  • Modem router connection problems

    Hi all

I am replacing a belkin n600 with router linksys ea6350 router. The modem I have is a Motorola Surfboard SB6141. The belkin router connects perfectly to the modem, but when I try to connect the linksys router to the modem, the light on the router keeps blinking and will never get me connected to the internet. I even tried to connect the linksys router to the router belink when the belkin is connected to the modem. I still don't get any kind of service. Thought it was a bad router and it took for my current home to connect to my modem At & t and it worked very well and I was able to put everything in place. For some reason I don't know why the linksys connects very well with the modem at & t, but not the motorla modem and the ISP that I have in my apartment is Comcast. It does not any sense and I'm heading home in a few days and I really need this connected linksys router belkin router is just too slow. Please I need much help getting this linksys router to communicate correctly with the motorola modem. Also, I used both crossover and straight cable modem to see if that makes a difference and does none of this and I know use cross to connect to the router.

first of all, make sure that the port on your pc is enabled.  usually, if you enable wifi it disables the ethernet port.  before you turn off the modem and do a factory reset on the router into the RED reset button until the lights on the router are flashing.  Turn the power off and wait 10 seconds then plug it back.  During its initialization connect a straight cable between the pc and the router's lan port.  Also, connect a cat5e or cat6 from the wan port on the router to the modem.  wait until the router finishes starting, and if she opens a browser in itself and then open a browser (ie to try) and put 192.168.1.1 in the address bar.  You should get a connection.  Let the empty user and enter "admin" for the password.  Or if it opens the programme of assistance to load the router you can follow if you wish.  This should get you.
