  • Restore the control file considerations

    Hello expert,

    Assumpition condition is:

    All the data files and the redologs are not damaged, but the controlfiles are damaged. We must restore the controlfile autobackup with the following command:

    RMAN > STARTUP NOMOUNT;

    RMAN > backup RESTORE CONTROLFILE AUTOMATIC;

    RMAN > ALTER DATABASE MOUNT;

    RMAN > RECOVER DATABASE;

    RMAN > ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS;

    Use of rman RECOVER, DATABASE redo logs to roll changes forward to control files. Can you explain what changes can be included? (Currently I only have one example: we add the new data file once the backup control file.) So we need roll forward the changes to control the file on the new added one.) Other examples?

    Thank you and best regards,

    Tong Ning

    Examine the contents of the controlfile.  He has the list of data files, the list of the archivelog files and list of rman backups.

    Archivelogs would be saved in the controlfile so that they can be applied.

    What about backups?  Subsequent backups would certainly no longer be in the controlfile.

    Oracle has noticed the absence of the file data and taken offline? Query V$ DATAFILE. Or do an ALTER DATABASE CHECKPOINT or ALTER TABLESPACE OFFLINE, ONLINE.

    RESTORATION has a keyword 'FORCE' that you can use to override the Oracle.

    RESTORE the DATA file n FORCE.

    Hi Neeraj,

    It happens because you have not selected the area of mapping as STAGUING running.

    Open your interface, click each column of your data target store, make sure that "run them One" is marked on the "transit Zone".

    Then run your interface.

  • Problem restoring from backup files

    Because I had to reformat, I tried for days restore files from backups. Backups are on a removable hard drive, I have: who is connected to my computer, and I can see the files by right-clicking on the folder.

    So I go to the center of backup and restore, click on restore files and get the message, "There is no backup on this computer." (Even though I know there are).
    If I click on advanced restore and restore files from another computer and check files from a backup made on a different computer. I'm sailing on the 'I' in the car. In the Date and time column, he later shows several backups, but in the other column, it says: "backup location is not available."
    How can I get the program to recognize that the "I" drive is, in fact, connected to the computer?

    I gave up and called the neighborhood guru. He discovered that it is possible, by searching the backup files, to copy the selected files directly in the records desired on the main drive, without going through the restore function. I don't know why it works like this, but I get back my files. Thank you for all the time spent on my problem.

    Check out my video tutorials:

    Here are the steps to follow for you, try running it by yourself (in the test database):

    -Take full backup of the database and configure RMAN to do an automatic backup of controlfile "CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON".
    -Remove all the controlfiles
    -Use the command 'Restore automatic backup controlfile' to restore the controlfile autobackup
    -Use the command 'recover data' to recover the database
    -Open the database

    =====================================================

    You don't have to restore the full database. You just need to restore the backup controlfile and restore the database.
    The steps you mentioned are good restore the controlfile. After recovery, you must open the database in resetlogs.

    Also, you can take a look at this http://neeraj-dba.blogspot.com/2011/04/loss-of-control-file-in-various.html

    HI. You actually mingle a few questions. You cannot restore controlfile from this snapshot controlfile. Snapshot controlfile goal being the other. At the resynchronization with recovery catalog RMAN must snapshot controlfile. That means and this purpose. You can restore controlfile from automatic backup or backup (controlfile) compatible.

  • restore / recover the control file

    Hello
    in 10g, I lost all the files of ctl and I want to restore/recovery of backups RMAN.
    Oracle documentation:
    6.4.1.4 Restoring a Control File When Using a Recovery Catalog
    Restoring a lost control file from autobackup is easier when using a recovery catalog than when using only the control file to store the RMAN repository. The recovery catalog contains a complete record of your backups, including backups of the control file. Therefore, you do not have to specify your DBID or control file autobackup format.

    To restore the control file, connect RMAN to the target database and the recovery catalog, and bring the database to NOMOUNT state. Then issue the RESTORE CONTROLFILE command with no parameters, as in this example:

    % rman TARGET rman/rman CATALOG catdb/catdb
    RMAN> RESTORE CONTROLFILE;
    After that I should publish any statement to RECOVER or change the editing of the database and alter database open would be enough?

    Thank you.
    Is there a complete senario anywhere?

    The restoration is correct.

  • Understanding of RMAN command file

    Hi, please can someone put me right as I am confused with RMAN concept. (using 11.2, AIX, no catalogue)

    Backup database more newspapers to archive and my DB is saved. I also have autobackup controlfile on. Ive done many restorations of test in this way when the data files are missing or needs to get back to a point in time.

    As a test, I renamed all my files from control and then did a restore. I then restore the control file which I am starting from the automatic backup location. However if there is no autobackup then what? Where can I get my control record of?

    Of the "backup database" command not actually backup control files? I always thought that a backup has been incomplete if the control files were not backup up.

    Please can someone clarify this?

    Thank you very much

    Adam

    However if there is no autobackup then what? Where can I get my control record of?

    That's what I do all my backups: don't configure CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON, and I always explicitly backup backups of database/archivelogs after controlfile (BACKUP CURRENT CONTROLFILE): in this way, I always know what controlfile to restore.

    DATABASE BACKUP command includes the backup controlfile anyway, but I prefer my name so that I can immediately identify the backup controlfile.

  • Retrieve by using the backup control file

    Hello

    I was reading a book called Pro Oracle Database Administration by Darl Kuhn. There, under the theme of "The valuation of the loss of all control files", noted that all data files and control files are restored from a backup, because if we do not restore the data files the RCS in control files would be lower than the data in these scenarios files. Since online redo logs and archived newspapers is applied to the data files to roll forward in a current consistent state and does not roll forward to a control file.

    It is then mentioned to use 'recover the database by using the backup control file' then apply the logs (archive and redo if necessary).

    However I personally tested this script in a test environment and to bring all the backup control file could issue the same command as above and recover the database.

    My question is I know again and archives are applied only to the data files. So how does the control file are synchronized back when we do not restore the backup data files.

    Thank you

    If we do not restore the data files, the RCS in control files would be lower than the data files. Since online redo logs and archived newspapers is applied to the data files to roll forward in a current consistent state and does not roll forward to a control file.

    It would be incorrect you have determined. You can only restore the control files. You can manually create a control file and always do the restore.

    My question is I know again and archives are applied only to the data files. So how does the control file are synchronized back when we do not restore the backup data files.

    The control file is updated as well.

    See you soon,.
