QoS EA4500

I bought the EA45500 specifically to configure QoS on specific devices by MAC address.  I would like to give preference to the PS3 for online games.  The first time I went to the QoS to the interface of the browser tab, I could start to put in the settings, then after the second or third recorded, the QoS tab has nothing of my settings and accept all the entries or save the settings (see image inserted here)

I now notice that as soon as I put on the EA4500, he had the v2.0.36.126507 firmware.  During the installation (before the QoS setting), I tried (without success) load new firmware that has been identified.  Today, I see that the new firmware is loaded v2.0.37.131047.

Anyone can shed some light on this?  Can I restore the firmware manually? If Yes, where can I find it?

Thank you hiptechboy.  Factory setting reset indeed QoS page, so it was functional, however, I learned a little more I started to restore the configuration.  Given that I had saved configuration settings at various times during the initial installation, I restored it with the last save point which included the 'bad' QoS and the QoS page was in fact still bad. So everything he does gets saved to the backup / restore configuration file.

As I said, I had several backups, so I took one earlier (before the adjustment of QoS page).  This restoration has a functional QoS page after restoring the configuration. So, I added my first priority QoS settings on QoS page and saved a backup of the configuration.  I added the second priority QoS, recorded on the page of the QoS parameters and save a configuration to the top.  When I added the third QoS parameter and registered on the page of QoS, all my settings have disappeared and the page was more functional.  I must have got the third entry of the QoS the other night, when he 'stop working '.

This time, I have simply restored from the last save point and again had a functional QoS page.

So I guess that the quality of service is limited to 2 items.  Add a third and once settings makes this useless page and as I said, it is recorded like this in the configuration backup.  I would like to put the iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad on a lower priority for streaming video is not interfering with the online game of the PS3 (i.e. CoD MW3).

    Hi guys,.

I use the EA4500 for almost a month now and I'm loving. Fast & stable, but I noticed a problem. My Macbook Pro does not connect via 802.11n but rather that it uses the 802. 11A.

    screencapture:

I tried troubleshooting by using my other router Linksys WRTt310n and I noticed that my MBP is conencting for 802.11n.  So, basically, it is not a problem APPLE or MBP.

Is there any setting that I need to check?

    Thank you much in advance.

  • EA4500 and heavy loading performance wireless

    Hi all

I'm backup of massive amounts of data in the cloud. Whenever I do, on my EA4500 wireless performance seems to deteriorate up to half of its flow. I am using the 2.4 GHz band. No idea why?

There is a known issue with the accuracy of detection of bandwidth Qos.

I just disabled it (prioritization qos/media)

There is a solution by manually adjusting and puff up your bandwidth (links to it and double it)

They just fixed the E4200v1 a few days ago with an update of the firmware. I hope that we will see a (soon).

I don't know how good workaround is, because I don't want to care about her or with her antics.

You can also try to disable WMM and see if that helps. They also fixed a problem with E4200v1 WMM (I think).

  • EA4500 cannot take advantage of the superior ISP of 50mbps download speed

I have been successfully using the EA4500 from April 2012 to 25mbps download speed provided by Cox. However, Cox has recently announced that it hit my download speed up to 50mbps.  Who wouldn't enjoy the speed, right double.

When it is connected directly to a DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem, I realize the speed of 50mbps download promised.  But, when it is connected via an electrician to the EA4500, I only get 25mpbs download speed.

MUCH has been written on this issue in the forum, because I spent the last two hours looking for similar positions.  A lot of tips here and I tried to tweak the MTU settings, disabling 5 GHz network, firmware, MAC clone settings updates, etc.  But nothing does increase my beyond 25mbps download speed.

Before I have the support of a $30 fee pony, I thought I'd try to post.  Is the EA4500 simply not able to handle 50mbps download speeds?

  • Bandwidth limit Upload on EA4500

I have an EA4500 connected to a cable modem.  My ISP is substantially more slow upload speed that download, and found that large downloads (for example, when my PogoPlug device's sync their Cloud Computing service) will saturate the download bandwidth and prevent any internet access.

PogoPlug has been able to provide me with the information I need to put a limit on the bandwidth download they can consume, but I can't find a way to do it in the EA4500 firmware.  I found this thread basically say you cannot do, but it's from 2012.

    http://community.Linksys.com/T5/wireless-routers/EA4500-limit-FTP-upload/TD-p/584676

I've seen other threads, which suggests that tweaking the speed of download under settings in the application of the prioritization of media could help, but there is no such parameter (value configurable only here is the bandwidth downstream).  The revision of the firmware is 2.1.41.162351, which, according to the automatic update function is the most recent.

I have seen other information to suggest that this feature may be available through the Cisco Connect desktop application.  I have not installed the application itself yet (there are a few quite severe warnings attached to it), but the screenshots in the KB of the resembeles the normal config UI UI I know of my old Linksys router, which was exactly the functionality I needed.

    http://KB.Linksys.com/Linksys/UKP.aspx?pid=101&VW=1&articleid=21445

Did anyone has had any success or throttling upstream of a specific application, or a minimum limit for the entire network avoid saturate the connection and blocks all other access?  Thank you.

    Tony

I was able to find the solution to this problem elsewhere.  In response to the bad reviews of the EA4500 (particularly with the upgrade of the firmware Smart WiFi/CloudConnect and the severe deterioration of the functionality it introduced), Cisco posted a link to an article on restore the firmware to connect avant-nuage.

    http://KB.Linksys.com/Linksys/UKP.aspx?pid=80&login=1&app=search&VW=1&articleid=25856&donelr=1

The following made me a normal router configuration screen.  QoS parameters were more customizable.  I was able to limit the overall download bandwidth, but also to give my a 'priority' for internet access network storage device.  (The new firmware allows only Normal or high, and setting my laptop high does not stop my regular camera to consume all of the bandwidth).  My camera's sync a large file to the cloud (and it is time to do so) in the background that I write, what I couldn't do half an hour ago.

If you like all or part of the Smart WiFi features, this isn't the solution for you.  But if you can live with a normal router configuration environment, I would recommend this kicking.

  • R8500: QOS is terrible on this router for $400

So before you get this router I was using a $20 off of eBay refurbished Linksys router E6500 running DD WRT (Yes, you can run it on this router if you know where to find the firmware for this). In any case, the flow was not the greatest, but I never had problems.

I have a ReadyNAS RN516 to my office and the backup on my Mac using the time machine office nas. I also have the Charter which gives single 4mbps upload (it's slow, but once he finished the initial and subsequent backup backups are fine). In real life, it's more like 4.75mbps. I have QOS value 3.75 to ensure that my modem is not bufferbloat and kill my connection.

My problem is however that often my devices slow to a crawl (if more than 5 Ghz wireless or wired) whenever I am downloading. On my other router I just put 4 Mbps as the download limit and all devices than 4mbps equally, and I never had no problem with slowdowns or high pings and lag. No matter what I put the download speed at... He accuses just out for no apparent reason on this router.

If someone can tell me why free DD WRT software works better than the software on a router for $400? Just curious?

The new firmware seems to have helped. I changed a few things as well, and it seems to work very well.

Regarding the comment of routers figure 3 and 4 routers in figure, there must be an improvement on the 2 figure routers and routers multi-3, otherwise what's the point?

I'm trying the test of the future a little, that's why I chose this router. It doesn't matter if I take it right back and stick with my $ 20 DDWRT router. I do not have the latest and greatest tech (2012 macbook air and several iPhone 6 more ' and a room above the router and I can not even through any speedtests 60mbps (run through the gigabit mac that is wired and I move 65mbps each time.)

I don't have a fast enough home nas box, but I'd be curious to see wireless local area network speeds. I wonder if I can break even 100 Mbps with this thing...

  • N450 CG3000DV2 access to WMM and thus QoS

I try so divy upward to the bandwidth of the apartment because my roommate likes to broadcast all the day and night.

Anywho, I have the router wireless modem n450 and comcast as a provider. I connect and where the QoS configuration tab should be, is nothing. I'm thinking maybe I don't have WMM enabled, but that the tab isn't there either... firmware is fine and I tried different browsers and the whole nine yards. There is simply nothing. I don't know what I have to do yet? It has been more than 90 days, so I won't have to pay to call assistance. Thank you everyone!

EDIT: I checked the manual and it has's it to be able to do

    Hello everyone

WMM settings are in the advanced settings of Wireless - Advanced Configuration - WMM. Complete QoS is not supported on cable products. We have the manual updated to show this.

  • Why QOS is assign a low priority to speakers/Media Players?

I have AirPlay speakers, set up around the House and bizzarly NightHawk is assign the latter with a LOW QOS parameter?

The speakers cut despite an 87% Signal strength to 54 Mbps one another with a 99% to 54Mbs Signal strength two to 2.4 Ghz

The 5 GHz range is much better - The Lounge speaker (which is the line of sight of the NightHawk 20 ft across the room reports 100% signal strength to 150Mbps.

And still stutter stall throughout the House.

These features worked better on the old wifi but have been the subject of wifi sometimes abandonment of all devices where the 'upgrade '.

I had put the speakers at a higher priority if they came in the attached devices, which, despite the connection to the common Nighthawk and streaming though stuttering audo, are attached to the Nighthawk.

Once you have checked the box to enable QoS upstream all QoS rules will be applied. The light in the radio button will be highlighted only if you select to change or remove a given rule.

  • How to set QoS priority by device and service on C7000 Modem/Router?

I would like to set the priority to my VOIP (OOMA) connected to the Ethernet port. Don't see anyway in the Engineering menu to access QOS, even if the item appears on other models of Nighthawk...

    Appreciate any advice.

    Hello ceeteebee

QoS is not apart of the C7000 if you want this feature, you do not buy a cable modem and use one of the routers as the R7000 Nighthawk.

  • HELP Please! AC750 D6000 couldn't change the QoS settings

    Hello

Could someone teach me how to enable QoS settings in Netgear genius? Currently, it could not be changed, the checkbox is grayed out (just like the inserted picture)

    Thank you!!!

    Hello rxishere

You use the wireless so then I would try to change the wireless channel to see if you get better speeds. If this isn't the case, you can contact your ISP to see if you have found the right speed.

  • Add WAP300N to EA4500?

I have an EA4500 which are currently operating here at home and you want to add a WAP300N (connected via electrician to one of the EA4500 Ethernet ports) to improve the coverage and 'assign' family members connect wirelessly to one or other of the devices.

    My questions are:

    (1) the WAP300N may grant a different SSID as the EA4500? (Of course, I want to do what I can tell people that you connect to);

    (2) If Yes to the #1 wireless channels should be different between the two? (The EA4500 himself has currently located on Channel 6, which is clear, but if I have to put in place a different channel on each end I am concerned about interference with neighbors who have the AP on the weekends).

I tried to do this year returns with some devices WRT-series G and I remember well the system having heartburn by keeping the AP contacted the main router and also some problems with the SSID assignments. Before I try again, wanted to get some opinions as to if it will work more easily with the new Linksys gear.

Thanks a lot for the tips!

Yes and I would recommend the AP SSID using different channels.

  • WRT1900ACS v2 QoS download Bufferbloat and levels of media

Hi, I just got this router out of the box today.

Wow, the user interface is a bit tight isn't?  I just a DIR - 645, and thought the Linksys router would be nice because of the having triple the speed of the processor...

... anyway, unless I missed something, is there any way to enable QoS on the side of bufferbloat combat download when downloading?

    ... what?

You have two sections, normal and high priority... and that's all?  None of the options as a choice?  It's been dumbed down for everyone?

I wanted to test streaming to jerk with QoS on for upload combat tests of terrible bufferbloat I get on speedtests.  We are talking about 400 to 600 ms here.  I usually get up to 5.7 mbit during the download and 65 Mbps on download (Charter).

    Anyone can help or clarify?

I need to replace the firmware dd - wrt?  etc.

I also noticed the router is not a way to find out what my DNS server addresses are otherwise set manually?

Well I guess it depends on how comfortable you are in Linux. DD - WRT is the easiest (according to me), then you have OpenWRT that builds that include LuCI web interface but development was slow on this subject, many developers have left in LEDE which also built with LuCI included as well.

Here are some links for you to check.
    https://www.DD-WRT.com/demo/
A lot of Info for DD - WRT is outdated online, best bet is to browse or search their forums.
Also do not use the version listed on their database, it is old, get them here ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2016/
Or you can try build http://www.desipro.de/ddwrt/K3-AC-MVEBU/ Kong
