(Redirected) Warranty - held hostage

Beware of this trap of warranty.  Don't rebuild your laptop out of warranty.

I rebuilt my Dell Latitude E5530.  Unfortunately I was informed by Dell Support that unless I renew my warranty, they won't get out my OEM Windows 7 SP1 activation code.  Actually they are now hostage until I renew my warranty.  I was under the impression that I bought the OEM license with my laptop.  I opened a folder from supported on this and said I need technical support they used to give me without the guarantee.  I opened a complaint [Admin Note: personal information removed] but had absolutely no response.

Its too bad. Its a portable grand.  I'll have to throw it away now and start buying another brand for our company

I have a dell inspiron 5755. Recently, the computer stopped recognizing the charger dell charger and will not charge the battery.  I verified that it is a bad charger and nothing wrong with my laptop.  I called the technical support and all first they told me that I had to upgrade the bios, but since the battery was less than 10%, I have to send my laptop while they could upgrade the bios.  I refused, declaring that I just need a charger and was informed that they would not send me a charger and I had to send my laptop.  I spoke with a supervisor who then told me that I had to drop it because my laptop was bad and I need to update the bios.  I told her that there is nothing wrong with my laptop. This is the cord. and I checked it.  He told me that they would not send me a charger I would need to drop it. I asked to talk to his boss and he said that was not a boss. He said he signed his own payslip.  I asked to speak to the customer service and he refused to transfer me to a first time indicating that they couldn't help me.  Again, I asked and he transferred me somewhere that has been closed.

A few days later I received a call from customer support and I explained what had happened and told me he would send me a.  After several times being on hold and 45 minutes... He then informed me that the power supply is not covered by my warranty and they will send me one but I have to pay for it.  This was the worst experience I've ever had with a computer manufacturer.  I will never buy another Dell.

  • (Redirected) Warranty hard drive issue

    Hello

New to the forum here, but I need some clarification of a Dell representative on this forum.

I recently bought a 2 in 1 new Inspiron 13 7347 and I wanted to update the hard drive for an SSD.  The representative of sales at Microcenter told me to check if it could void the warranty before installing, so I called the help line.  I was told that if I bought the disc SSD from Dell and installed myself (there are instructions published for that on this site) would not invalidate the warranty.  If I installed an SSD not purchased from Dell, may void the warranty on all of the computer.  There is no sense to me, so I ended up talking to a customer service agent in the sales department who told me the same thing and quote an equivalent disk for a huge slice of $390 (3 x what I paid).

I did some research here and found this post from a few years ago that uses little common sense that everything you are replacing is not covered:

    [See:en.community.dell.com/.../19435880:550:0]

Can someone with Dell please specify this?  I understand that if I replace the disc and the disc breaks down, it's my responsibility.  But, I do not understand how to replace the hard drive could void the warranty on the remaining parts of the computer (ie the touch screen).

Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Cannot remove creative cloud, being held hostage!

last updated Office creative cloud is originally my Acrobat XI at the stop and not save the work.  I can't uninstall the desktop app because it says I have applications that need it.  I prefer XI on DC and using creative cloud on other computers, so I don't want to update service enabled for this computer.  Looks like Adobe is forcing the issue and demanding that I pay for additional services, I will not.  Anyone know how to remove the creative cloud of the computer?

    Hello

You can please use the Adobe Creative Cloud cleaning tool to solve installation problems to uninstall creative cloud.

and after that refer to Download Adobe Acrobat products. Standard, Pro | DC, XI, X

  • (Redirected) Warranty transfer

From what I've seen so far, I can probably expect nobody to answer this question for me, but I'll ask it anyway.

I just got an email from Dell telling me that the transfer was denied.

I didn't fill out the form because I just bought the computer. When I followed the link, nothing happened. Is this typical Dell?

  • 6520e: remove the hp ink cartridge

I have a 6520e printer.   My only previous went wrong and I tried new ink cartridges in it. It was still broken and I replaced it.   The new (same model) forced me to use the ink cartridges that came with it (ok), but now they are empty I want to use my previous full cartridges. It is said that they are protected and I can't use them.  Please help as you have done for others!

It's very urgent today and I hate to be held hostage by this printer when everything I do is with genuine cartridges I bought.

How to unprotect them and make it work today? Thank you

    @david_rigg

I received your private on this msg. You use a printer that was replaced under warranty and you use genuine HP cartridges, I would advise to call HP hotline (they can send you replacement cartridges)

Can you please let me know how you go?, and if there is anything more I can help with

  • Download Yahoo out of my Firefox

I admit it. I downloaded a free program and held hostage by Yahoo.

I tried a lot of typical solutions found on the web, and I think that the doers of evil with Yahoo have also read and wrote a better more obnoxious malware.

I downloaded the new Firefox and installed, I tried to update and so on. I re-set my browser by default and what happens is I get two tabs at startup, a flaw and it is the silt of Yahoo.

Please help me get this disease out of my browser!

Thanks for the attempt to help.

So here's what solved 'accidentally '. I wrote this at the bottom and then forgot to save when I close my computer off last night, so I'll do my best to remember.

This problem persisted until I clicked on a SECURED link someone sent me in an email. I clicked it and it went straight to the page and this page in a new window opens.

I thought, "eh, it was strange." Better, I remember now, instinctively, I opened a NEW browser window, and there is still... this disease of Yahoo and my open home page tabs simultaneously.

I went back to the window that has opened in the page web of the link, is go to options, changed my home page back to the default in Firefox, and then click value on another TAB and it opens up Firefox by default.

I then selected Duck Duck Go in the search engine drop-down in the research cell (same tab), then returned to the options and changed the default home page for "use current pages".

Closed from the other window with two legs that open with Yahoo and Firefox home pages and then closed the window with two legs of the link I clicked and the tab I used to set my home page... then opens a new browser window and BAM... back to normal.

It's the best of my recollection.

    jscher2000,

Now when I followed your instructions, it has the right URL. This gets fixed as I wrote above, until I could try your solution.

    Thank you for your help.

For anyone who has found this solved the problem because they had the same problem. Now, you know that the real solution is to take it slow when you download a free program. In fact, be careful when you download and install programs even you pay because even those who understand often insidious modules of the sponsors who want to take control of your computer or at least your browser.

When we are looking for a solution, we are often in a hurry to get this solution of software free to work very quickly, and we tend to click all the "Thanks" and "Okay" very fast... we just want the danged program and the rest to shut up and make the road.

BUT... buried in a large number of them is this toxic junk preying on your desire for a cheap or free 'something' and they rely on the fact that most of the people will live with all malicious software has been installed as the computer still works well. But, you are now being watched by more people than you were before if you let this junk out there.

Patience and make attention is the preventive solution. ALWAYS be wary of any programs that install. Even those you pay maybe junk you don't want and could have deselected you just slowed down and thought about all the steps of the installation procedure.

    Thanks to the Firefox community.

  • How to use a structure of the event in a Subvi

I am using a structure of the event within a Subvi.  The Subvi has a table constructor that built tables and the structure of the event is used so that when the program runs, it allows you to change the elements of the array.  It works, but when I apply within a Subvi, it does not work properly.  This goes into a Subvi, because it will be part of a much larger progrram, so it must be modular.

If you are using a structure of the event, it is not a Subvi.  If you worry about modularity, you should not use the structure of the event.

You seem to have a fundamental misunderstanding of modularity.  An event structure must be placed in a while loop.  If you have a while loop in a Subvi, you have transferred control of your program to the Subvi.  You are not at this stage modular.  Your higher level GUI has no control.  You would have to create a stupid system of variables to pass data down to the loop to stop the loop and return to your main VI.  This is not a good design decision.

Instead of searching for a way to make something broken, you should spend effort trying to understand what you really want to accomplish.  You should also spend some time to learn how to work the event structures.

This application is small at the moment and it is already on the way to the unreadable.  It's a terrible thing to do for you.  Break these habits now.  variables are only when absolutely necessary.  Using subVIs to accomplish individual tasks, do not run the entire application.  With the structures of the event, use a value of stop button change event for will not be held hostage to the time-out.  If your variable is '2' in it, you're doing something wrong.  It has to be something different between set points, put it in the name.  If you want to make the subVIs, create an icon.

But first and foremost, invest time in understanding dataflow

  • Beware of the refund policy for the electronic funding/e-gift card from HP

I recently bought a dv6t and looked forward to happen. This computer arrived damaged and I had to send it back immediately. The exchange of treatment was so painful and frustrating it is doubtful I will be never buy another product from HP. I used a combination of HP credit card ($1000 credit limit) and electronic gift card to make the purchase. The reason why I used a gift card was my total purchase exceeded the credit limit of $1000 and HP would not take a credit card (credit or debit) to complete the transaction. I was told that my ONLY recourse was to buy and ask for a gift card from HP. After arrival with the computer screen damage I decided that I wanted a full refund because the audio was also very poor and I didn't like how this computer sounded at all. I was told that I was obliged to complete the transaction with the gift voucher is NOT REFUNDABLE! I felt that I was being held hostage as my gift card was over $500. I think it's a totally fraudulent way of doing business and for my part will think very hard never to do business with HP again. It's a shame because I've always liked the HP product and I have been a loyal customer for many years, having spent thousands of dollars at HP. I was ashamed of HP for the way they dealt with my problem. I was told that I could still use the e-gift card that I was "stuck" that now for other HP products. Why would I do this after getting scammed by buying the e-gift card in the first place. I finally finished and re - placed an order for a 2nd laptop, but this will probably be my last relationship with HP. They are a great company to deal with until something is not, then the customer may be left holding the bag or in this case, the e-gift card!

My messages are in my humble opinion based on 30 years of technical industry experience.
If my opinion helped, please respond with a KUDOS. If this is not the case then please rephrase the question, my opinion could change (smiles). When the hearing hoof beats in the distance, first think horses, not zebras.

HP DISCLAIMS ANY form of additional funding other than a gift card from HP when the purchase involves HP E-financing credit card. In other words, if I use my credit card of HP and I have enough line of credit for a transaction, the ONLY other form of funding that they will pay the difference is a gift card from HP. No Visa, no Master Card, not American Express, etc... Gift card ONLY. Believe me, I've exhausted this issue in detail. The only combination accepted when you use your credit card of HP is a HP combination of gift cards / credit card. You can combine nothing else than a gift card with their E-financing (credit card of HP). No more credit cards not authorized HP gift card/cheque ONLY.  It was my point worldwide and is the reason why I think it's a way to get the customer to 'use' a gift card.

  • Microsoft Update Web site are asked to download something? Now my fully paid version and the trial CD are completely blocked.

    Hello
On one of my pc's I had two versions of Windows XP Pro my fully paid version and a version of 120 day trial CD that came with my new paid for Microsoft Training Kit book #2. I was using on my virtual machine to remove malware and viruses practice on Windows XP without infecting my host pc. The problem is I was infecting the virtual machine with some real nasty virus on average 20 virus samples per day. After getting a viruse lock Em all the bad guys, a relocation was my only option. I never came close with a 10 days of my free trial. Then, your stupid Update site wanted to download something? Then my fully paid version is no longer me lock out of my pc? Funny as. Looks like Microsoft has done something to my fully released version to stop it running? I have six pc and began to change their everywhere for Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid. I'd rather give up my Windows operating system to be manipulated and held hostage by Microsoft.
These six will be the last Windows OS that will use or buy.
I hope you see that your strong attitude to a dying OS will cost a lot of customers. I installed Ubuntu on all the PCs I've fixed since you me locked out of my machine. My clients will be bow not down to you and nor will I.

Then restarted and would not even load Windows XP host as he stopped on my keyboard, my mouse and numbers. It was right after the download and execution of what is from Microsoft Update Web site.

As previously stated, more details needed. You can see the desktop? Is it just that your devices (mouse, keyboard) do not work?

You can also try to start safe mode to see if it works. Restart your computer, press the F8 key before the Windows logo appears and select Safe Mode from the list.

  • With Officejet 951 HP cartridges ink tank

I have a printer HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 that I use almost exclusively for BW printing. I am satisfied with the printer and have managed to overcome the fact that the printer will not print if a color cartridge is empty (HP Officejet 951).

My concern is that I rarely use the color and the color (HP 951) cartridge does not provide the amount of ink that HP lists as the standard for the number of pages that must be printable based on color % coverage.

As a result, I'll have to buy HP Color cartridges that should still ink for printing pages BW. In fact, if you shake the color cartridge you get some leakage of ink.

Is HP really provide a sufficient amount of color ink in these cartridges?, I think they view the number of pages, you should be able to print on the cover of colour, but with less ink cartridges filling said then.

If you do not use a color cartridge they dry out?

It is a great printer to BW, but I am frustrated by held hostage on the dependencies of color and price.

Soyers salvation, it is a printer IIC (individual ink cartridges) and so little color adjusts when black is printing. (For more details, see the link on the use of ink in printers inkjet below). Have you tried with cartridges size XL & Fastdraft printing in order to get a higher return on the page?

BTW, if you print mainly black text documents, then you are probably more suited to a printer IPH (individual printheads). With many of them, you can print in black only, even if the flag is empty.

    Inket printers ink usage.

  • My Vista computer picked up a program (virus) that leaves me no other thing than go on their site. They want me to pay them $55.00 per year to get my computer again.

I am writing this issue on my XP computer. This program is claiming that my Vista machine has 38 virus, keyloggers, trogans and everything. I have no way to know if it is accurate. I hate having my computer held hostage as this program is done. Now, this program crashes my computer after a few minutes. Before that I have to pay these people money I turn the computer into a Linux machine. However, I prefer to return to Windows. If I start the machine without this program race then I think that I can restore with Acronis backup program I have on my external hard drive. I see a lot of Internet boot floppies but I don't know which ones to trust. I do not think that the store where I bought this computer included a drive system in the box, so I have no system disk and unfortunetly, this is the only computer I have without a startup disk, major control.
