S540 Windows Shutdown 10 & sleep

After the upgrade to Windows 10 my S540 will not be stopped or sleep properly.

To try to stop, I get the Red led in the keyboard Thinkpad logo flashes constantly and can hear the internal fan of overtime. This does not stop little matter how long I leave it, resulting in a hard reset on the power button 5 second.

To sleep let some keyboard led is lit and then will not recognize a pressure on the power button to wake it up to the top. The system seems to be asleep because there is no noticeable noise from the unit. Once more the only way to 'wake up' the machine is a second 5 pwer button Reset.

I updated the machine fully for the update of Windows 10 according to Lenovo desk including the last update of the bios.

Any suggestions?

Thank you

Paul

Scratch that, just reinstalled the drivers of power management and this seems to have fixed the problems.

  • My restarts when I click Shutdown or sleep

When I stopped him, he seems to shut down properly, but a few seconds after that it stops, it restarts itself.  Moreover, if I put it to sleep, he seems to go to sleep properly, but when I return to the computer, the fans will run on high speed / max and I have to hold the power button down to get this to stop - but then if I press the power button, a second time, he seems out to sleep properly.  I have not had problems or crashes when using the computer - so the problem seems to be limited to an inability to stop / sleep.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Shadowblues,

    • Since when are you facing this problem?
    • You did changes to the computer before this problem started?

I suggest you try to shut down the computer from the command prompt and check if the computer shuts down normally and post back the result. To do this follow the steps below:

    a. Click Start.

    (b) to start, in the search box type cmd.

    c. in the list right click on CMD and click Run as administrator.

    d. in the type of command line of the shutdown /s and press ENTER.

    e. check if the computer shuts down completely without having to reboot.

This problem can also occur if the BIOS and chipset drivers display drivers are outdated or corrupt.

I suggest contacting the manufacturer of the computer and try to update BIOS, drivers from the Chipset and the display on the computer drivers and check if that helps you solve the problem.

You can access the link below and follow the steps to update the drivers to display on your computer and check if it helps.

  • E530: is not completely shutdown/restart/sleep/setting Hibernate

    Hello!

I have a brand new E530 Edge with ssd drive intel 520 and i7-3612qm CPU. Latest versions of the drivers are installed.

The problem is that it only stopped completely - no display shuts off, but fan and LED lit. Same thing happens during sleep, hibernate, restart.

However, in safe mode it t-stop and restart correctly. It does so without any drivers (tried to reinstall Windows 7 and Windows 8 several times).

Sometimes (like 1 in 20 tests), it is shut down properly. I was not in a position to know what driver (or combination) are the problem.

Any advice will be appreciated. I really don't want to go RMA way probably all is needed is a patch/fix.

Finally found the source of these symptoms. It was a 2nd drive hard ebay cart.

To resolve this problem, I had to disassemble the hard drive caddy and remove one of the pins SATA (details - http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-business-class-notebooks/655065-hp-elitebook-8560p-wont-shutdown...)

    Now, the laptop works perfectly!

  • ProBook 450 G0: 10 Windows will not sleep or Hibernate or start properly

    Hello!

    Hello!

Recently I did a clean install of windows 10 and I have a problem I forgot my past experience with this version of windows: my system is unable to go to sleep (or he can't wake mode 'sleep') or Hibernate.

Example of situation: I put the system to sleep, it shuts down (the power button blinks always - it's what he does when the laptop is in sleep mode) and when I press the power button (or click on my mouse) system does not. Either he starts as a fresh start (as no "sleep mode" has never been there) or the screen goes black, stay like that for a while and then stops (and, of course, when I open it again it is like a new beginning).
I never met such a problem on all other versions of windows. I did almost (if not all) of the suggestions and tutorials on the internet about it. The BIOS is up to date, so is my driver chipset with the rest of my drivers. Is it possible to fix this? It's the only thing that will make me return to windows 7.

    HP ProBook 450 G0 with:

    Intel Core i7-3632QM

    Graphics Intel HD 4000 / AMD Radeon HD 8600 / 8700M

    8 GB RAM

    SSD 240 GB KINGSTON SV300

PS: I found this link where I discovered that the decommissioning of the bios to an older version would work, but I can't find versions older for my laptop.

I have not upgraded to Windows 7 to 10. I did a clean install and I manually installed the drivers for the AMD and Intel video hardware.

I found how to solve this problem by making this upgrade of repair: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/wiki/insider_wintp-insider_install/how-to-perform-a-repair-upgrade-using-the-windows/35160fbe-9352-4e70-9887-f40096ec3085
Someone who has the same problem, I had perhaps try this method, as any other internet method did not work for me.

    Thanks anyway for your answer!

  • Ideapad Windows 10 question sleep Yoga 13

    Hey community,.

I have recently upgraded to Windows 10 and so far no big deal don't except this one:

Where two users are connected at the same time, and one of them closes the lid to enter standby mode, Yoga restarts instead of go to sleep. This happens only in the case that more than one user is connected to Windows. This was fine when I was using Windows 8.1, but has stopped working in Windows 10.

Another small issue: Yoga is not tablet mode are the request, folded in the tablet. Automatic screen rotation works fince btw and keyboard is well off in tablet mode. But 10 Windows does not recognize it.

Advice, especially on the first topic on the eve?

  • V7-482PG-9617 10 Windows crashes on sleep

Hello... I tried to search the forums and do not see an answer to this. My apologies if someone has answered this question and thank you if you could point me in the right place.

I had an upgrade my V7-482PG-9617 to Windows 10. Whenever I install, automatic updates would go and I would get a dpc_watchdog_violation every time that it starts. I ended up doing a clean and rodding installation drivers from the Acer support page in the machine before I let it reboot. That seems to have solved the problem at first, but now when he sleeps on the battery, it crashes. I tried many settings in the power settings, but can't seem to bypass.

Does anyone else have this problem? Solution?

I'm a little late, but since you have a mobile haswell 4500U, you must use the the Interface Windows driver Intel Managemnt 8.1 as a workaround so it will not crash when you put it to sleep or he falls asleep. It's a problem of incompatibility/known w / driver Intel MEI version 11.x (and driver Turbo Boost).

  • Aspire E1 - 572G - 10 Windows shutdown and restart problems

    Hello!

I bought this laptop a while ago, like almost 2 years, and probably more. It was powerful enough at the time, and I was very happy with it. So when Windows 10 came out I've updated, everything went well, but I made a mistake.

I used a program that automatically updated the drivers and downloaded one which was not intended for my PC. Since then my Acer will be not completely closed (the screen goes black, but the lights switched on, the drive keeps spinning) also restarts fairly slow with a large clicking noise as it stops the HARD drive and that shouldn't happen restarts in my possession. Although any of this happened if I play for awhile, watch the videos and do things.

I tried reinstalling every driver, reinstallation of Windows, every difficulty on the internet that I could find, but all this would not help.

I even replaced my with a SSD HARD drive, reinstalled completely windows on it, so new a own, bought a Bay optical caddy so I can replace my DVD with the TOSHIBA HDD Recorder. Even in that case it wouldn't work. Reinstalled driver BIOS, still nothing.

I don't know what to try more, I really need your help, guys!

I guess you Haswell - of the month last most people use the Windows driver 8.1 Intel Management Engine Interface as a workaround for the sleep/shot, stopping/blocking issue in Windows 10.

    Hello

    1. what happens when you restart the computer from sleep? It back to windows, such as the release of sleep or does go through the normal boot process?

2 have you done any recent software or the hardware changes on your computer?

    3. don't you face the problem only by playing games?

    Method 1:

I suggest you to run a full scan of your computer and check.

    Microsoft Security Essentials

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/products/security-essentials

Note: If infections are detected during the scan, it is possible that infected files would be deleted.

    Method 2:

I also suggest you to start your computer in a clean boot state, and check if all third-party software could be the cause. Clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: Don't forget to return the computer to normal after completing the troubleshooting by following the steps described in step 7.

    Method 3:

I also suggest that you perform a clean boot material to check if the problem is caused by any device.

Follow these steps to perform a clean boot material:

    a. disconnect all external devices.

    b. start the computer in safe mode.

Start your computer in safe mode

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

    c. click 'Start', type 'DEVMGMT.» SMC"in the search text box and press ENTER."

    d. expand "graphics cards".

    e. right click on your graphics card, select "Properties"

    f. click the "driver" tab, click on disable (disable the selected device). Click OK

    g. use the same method to disable other devices such as: map of the sound card, Modem, network, CD - R drive. Note Some devices not available must be disabled.

    h. restart the computer.

After you turn off the devices, start in normal mode and try to activate the devices one by one and check which device is causing the problem.

  • Problem with the HP Pavilion e033tx-15 Notebook shutdown/restart/sleep

I had windows 8 OS 64-bit working fine with my HP Pavilion Notebook 15-e033tx.

I had problems, so I decided to update my drivers. I already had BIOS VersionF.08 and the hp support page has shown that there is an update of the bios to VersionF.21.

After updating the bios the problem started when I stop lighting and the laptop into sleep mode kindof. I have to hold the switch down to foce him close. If I restart it, it says "reboot pc", goes blank and then all power off, and it's not stopped.  and if I SLEEP, he's not waking up.

I rolled back the bios and it fixed the issue.

Then I freshly installed win pro 8.1, and it has only VersionF.21 of the bios available.  Same problem again.

HP Support Assistant showed that a new bios update Insyde F.22. But the problem is still there.

I searched other posts with similar problem and I can't seem to solve this problem. Help, please.

Henrico Hello and welcome on the HP Forum!

I understand that you have a problem with the BIOS.  I'll try my best to help you solve this problem. I suggest following the procedure described in this document for the restoration of the BIOS .

If this does not resolve this problem then restores the version F.08 http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02693833 driver it should always work for Windows 8.1.  Here is a document for more information of the device to Windows 8 Manager which explains how to roll back the driver. It will be the same steps for Windows 8.1.

I suggest Using HP Support Assistant (Windows 8) to change your settings for manual update. This allows you to choose what you want updates.

I hope that this information help, please let me know how it goes.

Thank you and have a great day!

  • Latitude E6220/E6230/6530 Windows 8.1 sleep problem

    Hello world

Then build a SOE for Windows 8.1 I came across a problem with the Latitude 6220, 6230 & 6530 where after putting the computer to sleep then wake the computer up it would lock-up on the login screen.

After many hours of testing, I discovered that the problem was the driver for the SD O2 card reader. If you use the driver for the SD card reader, it works fine.

    I hope this helps someone.

After weeks of (16 hours) looking for a solution, I also discovered this. We will have the issue on the Dell Latitude E6510, E6520 and E6530 machines running Windows 7 64 bit.

My difficulty was also simple to download or install the drivers for the memory card reader for each respective system on Dell support site.

  • Windows 7 Professional "Sleep Mode" is not available

    Hello

I have recently upgraded to Windows 7 Professional with a customized upgrade. But now, there is no choice to sleep in the power settings (it's just gray rather than black). It is also not available in the settings of power either. only, stop and put into hibernation. I have a laptop and find it more convenient to use the "sleep mode" when I close the lid rather than hibernation. How can I fix that it's getting boring now...

    Hello aust_09,

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft answers community.

This happens usually when your graphics card driver is not compatible.
Try checking to determine which States are at your disposal:

-Click on Start Orb > type cmd in the search box > right-click on cmd in the above results > click on run as administrator of
-At the command prompt, type powercfg-a > press enter
