    Hello

    I am the proud owner of a laptop A100 - 1 k 7 upgraded with a total of 2 GB of Ram.
I tried to install my new discovery, Ubuntu 7.10 on it. Of course, I did :)

However I have the problem that I can not understand me.
My wifi adapter is not running. It is one of these atheros 5007eg.

I tried to find a driver, but could not find one.
Madwifi can't yet and ndiswrapper, well that's a little out of my League I guess.
I tried different tutorials, but each of them has not worked for me.
    I got so far:

When I give ndiswrapper driver installation command (I use a 32-bit Windows XP driver) he shouts the driver already installed.
But when I try to see if it works I get the wrong message driver.

Could someone please give me a good job tutorial on how to install the drivers for the wireless card?
Please bare in mind I'm absolutely new about operating systems based on linux... so a tutorial that I could just simply copy and paste into my terminal would be a gift from the gods for me :)

Please forgive me for my poor English because it is not my mother tongue.

    Hi low

As you know, Linux's official not taken in charge and you're on your own. If nobody here can offer you the solution, try to check the manufacturers support page or visit a few Linux forums. This WLAN card is not built in Toshiba laptops only and I hope on the Linux forums you have much better chance to get the right info on WLAN drivers and the WLAN functionality.

    Good luck!

WHAT CAN I DO? ANY HELP?

    Hello

As far as I know the Satellite A100 is equipped with a SATA HDD and so you need the SATA drivers before installing Windows XP.

It is a known issue and you will find hundreds of discussions here in the forum about this Yes, you can take a few minutes to use the forum search.

On your laptop, you need the Storage Manager you can download from the Toshiba site. Then, you can create a new installation with nLite disk or you are using an external floppy drive. I think that this document could be useful for you:

But don t forget the Windows XP disk must contain at least SP2!

  • Can see router WLAN with Satellite A100 - PSAANE Vista

    Hello

I have a satellite A100 PSAANE running Vista Ultimate that has trouble finding WIFI (atheros wlan card). The router is a Siemens gigaset transmitting the WPA2-PSK / WPA - PSK with dynamic channel assignment. In the past, I was able to get a wireless connection to my router with this laptop, but did find it difficult to detect the WIFI network sometimes.

    Location:
Active wireless switch. Different WLAN of the A100 see whenever I update the list in Vista.
Ever - at least most of the time that I do not see my own network.

Other laptops running Windows XP however found my WLAN in these moments there.
This implies a malfunction on the A100.
Update (28/10) drivers for Atheros and Vista resulted in no w-network at all.

Reset did not help. A reset of the router does not work nor the laptop next to the router of positioning.
The failure of detection is a recurring event with this router.

Currently the situation is that no WLAN is detected, then things got worse.

Everyone has the same problems in a similar configuration?
I feel that I might have a problem of material here.

    Thank you very much

I had a similar situation with my two laptops Toshiba (new Satellite A200 and older Tecra M1). I was confused why the WIFI network is not visible the two notebooks. After a few reboots (laptop computers and router) I again was able to use the WLAN.

I do not really understand what was wrong, but now it works again. Try the same thing. Stop the router for awhile and turn it back on.

  • Satellite A100-188: BIOS downgrade - how?

    Hello

first sorry for my bad English.
I have to update my bios from version 1.3 to 2.0. After that I have problems when I start the system.
toshibe says it's not possible to downgrade. in this forum I read that it is possible.
I read that in an Italian forum can I find help, but I Don t understand the Italian language.
the user in this forum 'alter_schwede' and 'fizzban' can help me. (in German).

When one of these 2 users read that please contact me. ICQ: 131260081
    or by e-mail [email protected]

    Hello

First of all, to my knowledge the BIOS downgrade is not possible.
Secondly, on the Toshiba page, I found only the latest BIOS (not the older versions).

In addition, on the Toshiba driver page, you will find 3 different models of Satellite A100.
AFAIK the A100-188 is a unit of PSAA9E.
Therefore, it is important that you used good BIOS and that it have updated with the proper procedure.
Bad BIOS and bad upgrade procedure may damage the motherboard or some problems with the functionality of the device.

I guess you used the wrong BIOS. In this case, you will need to contact the ASP from Toshiba for the return of the BIOS.
You might try updating again with the good BIOS.

    Help, please. WHICH IS: ACPI\TOS1901 * TOS1901

    Hello

ACPI-> Advanced Configuration and Power Interface
ACPI defines hardware and software interfaces that allow focus on the OS configuration and power management to enumerate and configure motherboard devices.
For example: ACPI is necessary for the standby and hibernation mode.

Now your question; the new BIOS has been updated and configured to using VISTA.
It seems that VISTA was not compatible with the previous version of BIOS because the ACPI interface. Now you can install Vista on the laptop, but it seems that you need a driver. Possibly new chipset driver version might help. But as you probably know, the drivers are not available at this time. Unfortunately

  • Satellite A100-692: after an error of installation of Windows XP Prof blue

    Hello

I bought a new satellite A100-692 with Windows XP Home OEM as an operating system.
But when I tried to access the internet using the local area network and a Proxy Server, it does not work.

I tried everything I knew and even ask some Forums to get a response, but nothing help.
Then I think it can work when I install Windows XP Prof instead of the OEM Version. Because all Clients in our network work fine with it.

But when I run the Installer (booting from CD) I get a blue screen with the message that there is a problem with the PCI (pci.sys) driver (after loading all the drivers).

Can someone tell what I need to do so that I can install another OS?

    Thank you

PS: Excuse me if my English is not very good ;)

    Hello

First of all, the blue screen error message may appear due to hardware failure or serious malfunction of software.
In your case I guess that it s a software issue because on the version OEM pre-installed, everything worked properly.

In addition I checked the site s driver and it seems that there are drivers for 3 different notebooks to A100. In this case, you should be sure that you use the correct drivers.
As far as I checked this laptop your A100-692 has PSAA9E number.

But have you created a CD of drivers & tools before formatting the HARD drive? This option you will find in the assistance of Toshiba.

However, you can download the drivers from the Toshiba site and here it is very important that these drivers will be installed in the right order!
The chipset utility must be installed in a first time after all installations of service packs.
The common modules are also important.

Tried company called OFFTEK... they seemed to know what they were talkin' about... I'm Offtek. at present one...
