Satellite P100 - DVD burner and reader of SD card not recognized by Vista

Hello everyone,

I have improved my P100 of Xp to Vista and I can't make my DVD burner and my reder of SD (embeded to the laptop of course!) work.

I can read CDs or DVDs, but I can't burn a DVD.
My SD card reader in my device list but not appear in my browser!

Even more, a 'mass storage' appears as not porperly installed but I have no reference on which device refer to the. Not to mention, I tried several times to install the utilities on the site Web of Toshiba sd but it didn't change anything...

What laptop Satellite P100-xxx you have exactly?
The number of extensions and model number would be very useful for further study

Anyway. to get the card SD works in most cases you need to install the Flash Media driver
In addition, it would be very interesting to know what SD card do you use.

With regard to the Vista DVD burning issue;
How have you tried to burn the DVD? Did you use special software to burn like Nero for example?
Have you used different DVDs from different manufacturers of DVD?

From my experience, it would be possible that the player manages all DVD. You try different DVD from different manufacturers. I had a good experience with TDKs

    Hello

I have a problem with my satellite P100, the 5-in-1 reader successfully read SD and XD cards, but since 3 days ago (no upgrade, or any new software), it still works perfectly well for XD cards, but no more for SD cards. When I insert an XD card, I get a drive letter, with an SD card and tried several other different, nothing happens, as if they did not exist.

I am running Win2k server, and the problem started about 3 days ago.

    Thank you!

    Hello

    How about the update driver?
As suggested go to Device Manager, select the card reader and reinstall the driver.
What you can do, is also to remove it from the Device Manager and after new OS restart, the drive should be recognized again.
In this case, the driver must be initialized again. Check it out.

Another question. Have you used the option remove? Usually if you want to remove the card or disconnect the USB device you should use first remove it safely and then you can remove the card from the slot. Don t forget.

Y at - it advice on what I should do.

  • Laptop Toshiba DVD RD/CD RW ROM not recognized after Vista installed

My Toshiba laptop which has Windows Vista cannot read my ODD.  A month ago I had the same problem which was worst, could recornize not WEIRD at all.  Now, it recornizes ODD, however, after the execution of this program to fixhttp://support.microsoft.com/gp/cd_dvd_drive_problems, still reads at all.  Please help me!

    Hello

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

  • Satellite L10 - battery not recognized by Vista MS

    Hello

I use MS Vista on my Satellite L10 and everything works great except my battery which is not recognized by Vista. There is just an unknown device in my equipment manager. In the section on the homepage Toshiba drivers I couldn't find a driver or other instructions. The MS Hotline told me this isn't their but question Toshibas.

I hope that this forum is someone who can help me solve the problem. I just want to know if my battery has enough power for 20 minutes or 2 hours and I really hate it if my laptop is suddenly out of power.

    Thanks in advance.
    Christoph

    Hello

You have installed Vista on the L10?
Wow I know Satellite L10 is not Vista capable and you should be happy that this OS works without big worries on this Satellite phone.

However, I recommend the Vista update to the last State, to install the compatible chipset from Intel page.

But I assume that the BIOS on this laptop is not fully Vista capable that this question therefore appears on the L10.

  • Satellite A300 - dvd, usb and card reader does not work

    Help needed please.

Have a laptop Satellite A300, running vista.

Until a few weeks ago everything good, then noticed the cd did you not recognized and disk in it. The card reader can't find anything on the card (and Yes, the card was full.)

The usb scanner is recognized as an external memory card and the other usb port does not fuction.

I have not installed or don't remember changing of settings or do whatever it is the habit.

Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

    Hello

    Your ad is very confused.
    > Until a few weeks ago everything good, then noticed the cd did you not recognized and disk in it.
Well, there are several reasons for this; It would be possible that the inserted disc is not completely compatible. Try different drives from different manufacturers.
It would also be possible that the STRANGE laser lens is dirty. In this case, you might clean using a cotton ball and alcohol tip. In my case it helped.

    > The card reader can't find anything on the card (and Yes, the card was full).
Did you use a compatible card? The laptop runs these cards:
    8MB - 2 GB SD card
    SDHC - 4 GB card
-16 MB - 2 GB xD Picture card
    Memory Stick - 8MB - 256MB
    Memory Stick Pro - 256 MB - 2 GB
    MultiMediaCard - 8 MB - 1 GB
miniSD (with SD adapter) - 32 MB - 2 GB

I recommend also to format the card and to copy files from computer, and then test this.
You can also reinstall and update the driver for the card reader controller...

    > The usb scanner is recognized as an external memory card
Can't believe that you must use a scanner software (must be provided with the scanner) and have to test this unit. By the way; for the most part a scanner driver must be installed in order to use this

  • Satellite M40 - DVD / CD player - reading and writing problems

My M40-704 has developed a habit of not recognizing some discs DVDs and also a few CDs. This is unrelated to the quality is very difficult to find what exactly is the cause. I have the TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-R6112 drive. On an another Tosh I have for work (a Tecra) I have a NEC drive, which works very well. I'm stumped and annoyed.

Right now I can't read all white or written on DVD/R is the most annoying question... Is this just a reader of trash? I wait too long? Yours confused

    Hello

You know that not all CD/DVD media are compatible with all readers.
As far as I know that you will find information about the support of CDs and DVDs in the user manual.
However, I use TDKs and I m very satisfied with them.
In my opinion, you should test several media.

  • Can activate a Satellite L40 DVD burner

I recently bought a Satellite L40 (Vista Home) which came with a Pioneer DVD burner. The problem I have is that the player is currently disabled and that any attempt to activate the device fails.

Can someone advise a solution because I can't use the drive as it is?
    Thanks in advance.

What exactly do you mean by saying that the player is currently disabled?

Have you checked the Device Manager and the status of the CD/DVD driver?
Do you see yellow exclamation points?

However, no matter if a yellow exclamation point appears or not, you should try to remove the CD/DVD drive device manager and must restart the laptop.
Finally, the Windows operating system should recognize a new device and should reinstall the CD/DVD drive.

Hope this short procedure will help you get the job of CD/DVD drive.

    I appreciate feedback ;) cheers

  • Satellite P100 - 347 (PSPA6) and Conexant audio problem in Windows 7 64 bit

He is a [old problem | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=175972#175972] which seems to have affected many people.

    Conexant HD Audio (hardware id: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01 & VEN_14F1 & DEV_5047 & SUBSYS_1179FF31 & REV_1000)

There has been no official driver published this work in Windows 7 64 bit. It works fine in 32-bit, windows 7, and using different drivers from other sources + partial + fix can be found.

    Using these drivers:

    [Audio 4.8.0.0 | http://209.167.114.38/support/Download/files_downloads/pspa1c/vista/Audio4.8.0.0.zip]
    [sp35683 | ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp35501-36000/sp35683.exe]

and some of the advice [here | http://laptopforums.toshiba.com/t5/Windows-7/Windows-7-64-bit-drivers-for-P100-P105-Users/m-p/67516], it is possible to get the proper functioning, but * only * when using the S/PDIF (HD) audio output. When the S/PDIF cable is removed the internal speakers make noise for a fraction of a second, then silence.

I tried everything and this issue has been around for months and months, but no perfect solution seems to exist. I was wondering if there is a way to update the drivers of the HD Audio Controller, integrated in Windows 7. Or maybe a hack that allows the internal speakers continue to work (they work for one second!)

Please, any help on this would be greatly appreciated

Try following the steps under "Windows XP" in the article following the MS KB:

These measures, to remove the UpperFilters and LowerFilters, values if they exist, in the registry key named can help.

  • Satellite P100-106 - sound and modem driver for WXP Pro

    Hello

I bought a P100-106 (PSPADE) a few days ago that had Windows Vista Home premium pre-installed. What I tried to do is to install win XP pro SP2 because I realized that Vista not fully cover my needs again.

While Toshiba does not support this model with the drivers, I found some models to the driver downloads page, such as PSPA3E, with the same hardware configuration. I downloaded the drivers makes it easy with my system (almost all). After completing installation instructions all worked fine except the sound drivers and modem.
I downloaded the driver for the sound is Conexant 3.11.0.51. After installing the patch kb888111 (UAA), which is included in the record of the driver, my system has recognized the PCI device unknown as "Audio device on high definition audio bus" and the modem as "Device Modem on high definition audio bus". Then I followed the installation instructions that Toshiba has provided (http://support.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB6801JF0000R01.htm), but the window that appears, there are no devices listed and no 'OK' buttons to press! Simply "CANCEL".
The same thing happens when I am installing modem drivers.
Can someone help me please? Does anyone of you have the same problem?

I would be grateful for any information or solution

    Thanks in advance

    Hi guys

You are right. For now, that Toshiba does not take in charge the new models preinstalled Vista laptops to Windows XP Home edition. I assume that it will change in the future, but of course the Vista upgrade is a priority. As you know a lot of old notebooks preinstalled WXP must be Vista supported. It makes sense to upgrade is more important than the downgrade.

Anyway, I heard that the new laptop models have a different sound chip and it can happen using soundcard for notebooks WXP drivers help much. Audio driver is also important for the modem function and because of that you also have problems with the modem function.

I know that you will solve the problem as soon as possible, but if there is no, you must wait for realize Toshiba drivers for Windows XP Home edition and put on download page.

It is very interesting that every day more and more users are not satisfied with Vista n want to use Windows XP Home edition on the newer models. To be honest I still use my Windows XP Home edition and right now I really don't want to install Vista on my lappy.

    Bye and good luck!

I'm not familiar with Windows 8.1. Windows 7 and Vista on my other computers.  I want to make DVD and CD but does not know how to go on this issue.  I can't even say what programs are on this computer. I know apps are much used, but I still need programs, I don't?

Windows 8.1 has a system of drag & drop.

If you simply put a blank DVD into the DVD drive, and it will ask you what you want, then you can simply drag & drop a file in the DVD icon on your device and the driver (under "this computer")
