Satellite U300 - 10 M supports the 64 bit OS?

Hello guys,.

I just wanted to know, if 64-bit of Windows XP can be installed on my laptop U300 - 10 M.
It seems that the CPU (T7300) supports x 64, as CPU - Z shows that EM64T instructions are supported.
But somewhere else, I read that bios should also support the 64 bit OS.
So I wonder if anyone has installed 64 bit OS on U300 and tips and tricks that I have to be aware.

Thanks in advance!

You can install all the BONES you want there is no problem with the installation of the OS.
You might have only problem with Win XP 64 bit drivers.

Still is it that XP64bit is not so popular as the Win XP 32 bit or Vista and that's why you won't find drivers 64 bit XP on Toshiba page.

Maybe you can collect the drivers from somewhere another good luck

  • Satellite U300-151 plant of the standby or sleep mode extended when WIFI is turned on

I have a new satellite U300-151. BIOS V3.80 and Intel version 11.5.0.32 wireless (which seems to be the latest driver). Vista SP1

When return to work of the standby or hibernation mode laptop still crashes if the wireless switch is enabled.

I am aware that it is an issue being discussed in a number of forums, but apart from references hopeful to SP1 and drivers, that I have not fallen on a solution. SP1 does not appear to have helped to solve my problem.

    All responses - thanks.

My knowledge of the SP1 could makes some problems because not all drivers are compatible with the new Vista service package.

The laptop goes down without installing SP1?

  • Satellite Pro P100 (PSPAEA) and the 64-bit virtualization

    Hi all

I hope that someone tried to do this before and has an answer.

I am currently running Windows Vista (32 bit) on my P100 with the last BIOS V4.40 (also 32 Bit Version). I am trying to install a Windows XP 64 Bit Virtual Machine using VMWare Workstation. However it is said that even if my hardware is capable VT I need enable VT via my BIOS support. Of course there is no setting that I can find in the BIOS. I need to install the 64-bit BIOS? Or is there something that I am missing? Or is it simply not really able to do what I want?

    Thank you very much

    Hello

If you say; + your hardware is capable VT + do you mean the CPU?

    What CPU do you have?

I ask because the VT (virtual technology) is not supported by all Intel processors!

Then please post some details about your CPU!

  • Satellite U300 - peripheral unknown after the installation of Windows XP Home edition

    Hello

    I have a Toshiba Satellite U300 - 14Q (model PSU30E). I installed XP, but there are 2 unknown devices:

-Memoria Controladora PCI - in English: PCI memory controller (I guess...)
-Device present-day - English: unknown device.

I installed all the drivers of Toshiba and Microsoft. What are the missing driver?

    Greetings from the Spain.

    Hello

-Module PCI Memory Controller Missing Robson, that it is not available for Windows XP Home edition and it will always appear in the Device Manager. It should not bother you at all.
-Unknown device, I'm afraid that you forgot something. I don't know what, but it can be map or maybe utility password drive controller.

Please make sure that you have installed stuff all listed according to document Instructions of facilities. The order of the facilities is also very important.

  • Satellite A660 - how to change the 32-bit system too 64 bit

    Howdy!

I bought a new Toshiba Satellite A660 i7-2630QM with windows 7 Home premium.

My problem is Toshiba includes instructions for the first start upward, and he said: I can choose between the 32-bit operating system and 64-bit operating system, but when I turned on the first time he didn't give me any option/choice.

Now ive got 6 GB memory and can use 4 GB because its too 32-bit system set is an easy way to change it because I don't have a windows disc, all the software is preloaded?

    Hello

I think that this info is mentioned in the user manual.
First of all, you can create a with the image of Toshiba recovery disc.
You must create this disk using the preinstalled software called Toshiba recovery disc creator (or creative recovery Toshiba).

In addition, there should be a possibility to recover the laptop using the recovery of HARD drive.
During the recovery of HARD drive, installation should provide an option that allows you to choose between the 32 and 64 bit.

But just one question: what A660-xxx you have exactly?

  • Satellite P100-429 does support the 5-in-1 card reader?

IM wanting to buy a new laptop computer and is came through the "Toshiba Satellite P100-429'." It's the portable perfect! However, when I searched the internet for a detailed technical specification, I found that on pixmania.co.uk he states that there is no memory card reader:

    http://www.Pixmania.co.UK/UK/UK/462038/art/Toshiba/Satellite-P100-429.html

Still other sites, he says that there is a 5-in-1 including Toshiba card reader themselves. It is therefore possible to have the same laptop model but with a different specification? or is it a typo in the site of pixmania? Thank you

    > is it possible to have the same laptop model but with a different technique
Of course, many laptops in the same series were delivered with different hardware specifications it is nothing unusual.

For example, the dvi video port, express card slot or the married media card slot are available on some models.
I would trust the Web from Toshiba site and this model should support housing ExpressCard and a PCMCIA Type II slot.
The slot SD, Compact Flash Card slot card and smart card reader are not available on this model

  • Satellite U400-10 was supports the HDD Protection probe

All of the documentation I've read on Satellite U400-10 model has (PSU40E-00K006DU) indicates that it has a HARD drive protection sensor installed.

I can't find this sensor listed anywhere in the Device Manager, and when I install the Toshiba HDD Protection utility it tells me that there is no sensor.

Someone has this model with the sensor HARD drive Protection?
    If so, how say you?

    Kind regards

    Hello

As far as I know the Toshiba HDD Protection Utility V2.0.2.3 (for Vista) was pre-installed on the U400 series, so in my opinion, the sensor is available.

  • Satellite U300 simply stopped working - the LED blinks

I've had enough of Toshiba laptops, it's the second laptop that gave up the ghost.
My U300 is just more than a year in February, he just went dead on me.
It was a minute and turns off the next day.

The problems are that the screen takes about 20 minutes to switch from black to white and the towers of the real machine on and outside.
The little blue lights come on and out.

I have no idea why this is happening because I did not fell or banged the laptop.
Toshiba wants to pay me for the repair, but I'm fighting it. I hope you guys can help.

In addition, if you can can you please explain in simple terms I'm absolutly rubbish with computers.

    Thank you

Two in a row? It is very unfortunate. Ive had three laptops from Toshiba and they have been a lot of work, with the exception of a disc HARD crushed, but that was my fault because I dropped something heavy on the Palm, that it was written to a file (oops!).

Spare parts of RAM (system memory) can sometimes strange problems, especially the cheaper brands. And some models start only if there is RAM in Slot A (depending on the type of chipset Intel).

Do you know if the extra RAM was installed on your laptop? If you unscrew the cover of the memory off base, you can access the RAM Modules. If there are two Modules, try to remove one of the Modules, reboot the laptop. If this does not work, try the other Module and also try another location of the RAM.

If you are not confident to play with the RAM, you must send the laptop to an ASP.
