  Hi there I use Win7 since the RC1 of scene and found it rock solid, I'm now running Windows 7 Enterprise. I installed it on a Dell XPS 1710 and had few problems so far. When I start my computer and you move the mouse around the screen, the mouse "hangs" for a second or two, then moves, then crashes again. All these things worked * perfectly * until a lock suddenly toward the top of the computer having been on during a few hours, which was a new event.   Microsoft Security Essentials and Prevx have also proven very reliable and compatible.

  Avast Home free - stop any shields is not necessary except away from Standard, Web and network is working.

  Windows Firewall

  Windows Defender (is not necessary if you use MSE)

  Protected IE - mode

  IE 8 - SmartScreen filter WE (IE 7 phishing filter)

  I also IE always start with asset if filter InPrivate IE 8.
  (Sometimes you have to temporarily turn off with the little icon to the left of the + bottom right of IE)

  Thanks for your answer to my question. I was about to start step 2, by performing a boot minimum when a message pops up informing that 2 programs were slowing down my computer and also to stop because they were also running. Ironically, these programs I've ever used has appeared on my computer advertising protection against viruses and to speed up the computer.

  I did not purchase the license if it comes to start up all the 3 or 4 days telling me that my computer is slow.

  I uninstalled both programs, which I won't mention for obvious reasons and the event system Com + message did not return after the computer has restarted 3 times. Apparently, the problem has been resolved, but I will continue to have oversight. If the problem returns I'll restart and inform you about the results.  Thanks again for your expertise. guavaridgemb
