tech support question by e-mail

Printer blocking when you try to print address labels. Managed to clear the jam, but you need to know if my printer is able to print address labels. Y at - it a special setting for this type of paper?

Please read this post then provide some details.  What printer model? Do you use labels designed for your printer?

I've seen cases where non-inkjet labels used in an ink jet printer may come off the support for printing and paste it into the mechanism inside.  Definitely not recommended.

So basically for now, I need some serious tech support. I knew enough to power a computer for regular use, but now I need to know a little more.

I'm working on a pretty nice software that probably has not been treated well for about a month so its starting to develop some small bugs. I intend to use this laptop for more things in general so it needs work better.
I ran some scans norton (but my norton is literally about to expire so I need something safe for my computer out of Cnet maybe? it's free)
I ran a quick defrag and I have Ccleaner and know what it does, so I ran too. I have not just be completely shut down the computer, I don't even have a back upward in car big enough for my computer or anywhere to put it if I had a. Im doing the laptop on the lap a lot which means no doubt that fans do not get enough air.
There is a laptop stand that had fans, but fans broke and its just bulky right now so I'm just trying to protect the screen and not get any fluid on the keyboard. Also, there is just no office about so its that or directly on a mattress that is worse.
(Also I keep multitasking for many, even for an upscaled laptop with windows 7 and the changes to make it work well.) His breaking our internet connection wifi is not totally reliable here and all I can do, is disconnect the boxes and wait but its such a nuisance that I can't do it too)
Any help you can offer would be great!

    Hello

I suggest you to start the computer in a clean boot state. Clean boot helps eliminate any conflict of third party software.

Note: when you are finished troubleshooting, follow step 3, mentioned in the article to start the computer to a normal startup.

If you use WIFI put a check mark next to it and let the service when you disable startup items.

For the safety of your computer, you can download and install Microsoft Security essential, which is a free anti-virus program.

Here is an article on wireless connection problems and wireless network. Take a look and check.

  • Microsoft Tech Support set

There was an online game hosted by Microsoft a few years back where you played a member of I.T. tech support and was walking around fixing issues. The graphics are poor, ala Lesiure Suit Larry, but the game was fun and interesting. It would give you scenarios as 'Sally-can't print. How you would fix it."sometimes you would give a terminal screen, and you must enter commands and it will give you the answers. Someone remembers this and what it's called and where I can find if it still exists?

    Thanks in advance.

Some sort of game historian inside Microsoft who I bet can answer this question is Ben Armstrong.  Go to his blog and send the question.  Chances are that he has not only seen, but tried in a virtual machine.  He blogged about the classic game in VPC and have for years.

I received a call from someone claiming to be a technical support for the windows operating system. They said they were be proactive and helping people fix infected files. This happened to someone else?

Yes.  Microsoft does not know if you have a problem, unless contact you them yourself.  They are * not * first call without something from you.  Like 99% of other businesses - if you use their product and are happy - good enough.

They supposedly 'cleaned' of my laptop last Thursday and said they would maintain for one year for $169.99.  They got into my PC and I watched as they ran a series of programs that I'm starting to security, repairs, etc.

My reason for how contact support was not treated (receipt of Spam and Phishing emails in bulk in my Inbox, as well as in my junk mail folder.)

They claim to be certified technicians MS, I don't believe to be true, now that I've seen what they are doing.

    Hello

    It's a scam.

Either these so-called "Microsoft" Tech companies want to sell you a worthless software, or remote access to your computer to try to steal your credit card and bank information and also achieve an identity theft on you.

You gave them remote access and if you do Internet banking, contact your bank, explain, and change passwords.

If you use your online credit card, cancel and get a new one issued to you.

And the only way that willl you know that you are free to them is to backup your data and do a clean install of your operating system.

And Microsoft or its affiliates does contact you, unless YOU have made prior arrangements with them to do.

  • Given the run around by Tech Support

I initially contacted Dell technical support on February 6, 2016. I was told that the problem I saw with the GPU means the tech must be returned for repair. After 5 weeks to be passed around between different support groups and fill in many forms of different warranty transfer (I bought the XPS 15 9550 system in question on the Microsoft Store and in time, it is around the age of 2 months). I'm stuck now entirely.

I was told the last rep, I talked to (which is a sort of climbing team) that guarantee is now transferred and I have to call the tech support number. I did, just to be told that they cannot possibly do anything and that I must contact the rep who told me to call them. I sent the rep who told me to contact support again and he has not responded to me.

So right now, I'm totally stuck, no one can help me and I have a broken computer that I had now sat here for almost 6 weeks and I'm afraid to use it because I don't know what could happen.

After calling 6 times more they say they will do something.

  • New technologies of Image, OMG Tech Support and PC health Boost legit or scammers?

I downloaded PC health Boost in response to a pop up and signed for $29.  The technician got remote access to my computer and made several areas requiring a rationalization suggested a best anti malware. He suggested that I could take my computer to the local Office Depot, or doing service remotely by the OMG Tech Support for $299 for a year of technical support. I signed up for remote assistance - for what he called a step 13 tune up and 1 year service tech for $299. He also suggested Stopzilla anti malware software for laptops for $50 each. I paid $405 with my credit card. He transferred me to a technician from the OMG that was supposed to take charge; I was to leave the computer open, connected and powered. I checked at 2:40; Watch box still "awaiting technician. About 07:00 msg showed work was going on, do not touch the mouse or keyboard. I tried to find a few reviews for OMG Internet and came across a question as to if OMG was a scam. The expert's response was that it was because of several reasons, she cited. I called automated national operator and request Microsoft support services, received somehow a couple of numbers in New York. (We are in the State of Washington).  I called the number that turned out be the support for new technologies of the Image. They said that OMG was a scam, Stopzilla was a bad anti-malware and to shut down my computer then OMG couldn't do any damage. I called my credit card to stop payment of OMG, (I forgot to PC Boost) and signed to the top with a new Image for 3 months of technical support and to check on my computer and cancel the job of OMG. The technician of the new Image then obtained remote access to my computer and has worked and will continue tomorrow.

Now, I am completely lost and scared. Are all scams? They are all legitimate? My computer and information been compromised?  What should I do?

Of the tank and into the fire. The list of scammers to which you have subscribed is more, isn't it.

Keep a note of all companies currently take you on a tour at your expense and then make a return to the installation of the factory of Windows to ensure that, when everything is back running, all passwords are replaced by something very strong.

Your computer is equipped with a recovery instead of disk partition...

This is how the recovery partition is accessible to most popular brands...

For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device

For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For LG, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward

For Acer, press and hold ALT + F10, as soon as you see the logo

For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.

For Samsung, press F4 to the power upward...

For Fujitsu, press the F8 key directly after the power

Advent, restart your computer. Then, press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting system recovery"

Sony VAIO, reboot and press "F8" or "F10" repeatedly until the screen "Advanced Boot Options".

You may need to try several times to get everything above to work. If after several attempts, you have no chance, or the machine indicates that there is no recovery partition, your only option is to contact the computer manufacturer and ask for the model recovery discs...

After the reset, you should get all the updates from Windows Update EXCEPT for hardware devices. Then, you install a good antivirus. ONLY AFTER you have done this, if you replace the stuff of backups or install anything else.

Likely, you will not answer to a popup in the future that requires money in Exchange for the worst computer support that you will never get...

Hardware and firmware is so rapidly changing, so are the various capabilities of diagnosis (and how, when, where they write to newspapers).  I think that it would be virtually impossible to maintain a full guide updated content of tech support file and how to interpret them.

That being said, there are some more frequent for both blade/UCSM and stand alone C series servers such as SALT that connects usually record the major mistakes such as chess DIMM, HD failures, etc.

There are general troubleshooting guides such as http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/ts/guide/UCSTroubleshooting/UCSTroubleshooting_chapter_0111.html

There are also courses that correspond to the review DCUCT 642 - 035 http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/training-events/training-certifications/exams/current-list/dcuct.html entering some details by looking at newspapers, among other things.

Is there some hardware problems that you try searching?  You have some sort of polling app that parses the files you are trying to Setup alerts for, etc.?

    Thank you

    Kirk

  • Is it true that it costs $99 / month for Mozilla Tech Support if needed?

A parent who has been using FoxFire for years had a major problem with the loss of his data; After doing everything possible (restorations, etc.) he called Mozilla Tech Support and they said: of course, just give us your credit card; the charge is $ 99 for 30 days of technical support. He called the right number?

Sorry to say but your parent has been scammed.

Support us here. Mozilla does NOT support. If the problems persist post on this forum for help.

I'm sure that there are many places calling themselves Support Mozilla, or something very similar. More frequent are scams of Microsoft/Windows. Whowever is probably does not have a traceable site.

  • MacBook Air tech support scams

    Hello

Has anyone heard of US Software Solutions Inc. and scams on them? I checked their site, seems legitimate, but anyone can put up a Web site. I called the numbers provided, a person pick up... however...

I think I have been scammed. Yesterday, my computer froze with a popup that showed that I had a mistake and tech support number provided. I tried to stop the laptop, tried to force quit safari. The pop up kept repeating. I tried to open apple support, tabs would be open but the gel. I called technical support, with hesitation... bad feeling all the time... gave them the $, because they 'fixed' my laptop online... now it works, but I'm afraid to use it. By banking example, passwords etc.

I am not computer savy.  Any suggestions? Help

Yes, you have been scammed. Contact your bank for more details on how to deal with the fraud. Immediately change all passwords for anything that may have never accessed from this computer. For ultimate peace of mind, you can restore your computer using a backup prior to the access by criminals.

For future reference: Force Quit Safari, then restart Safari while holding the SHIFT key... That's all.

Phony 'technical support' / 'ransomware' popups and web pages
