Tecra S10 - 11 a - password: not authenticated

Laptop has been really great working (win7 x 64), until I rebooted it a few days ago.
I cannot get into the BIOS, can not change the BOOT sequence...

All I see is a black with screen
password:
When I try to enter something - I get the message:
Not authenticated.
(tried - Toshiba, toshiba, all my passwords, password empty)--does not.
I even tried to unplug the RTC battery for 30 minutes (disconnected CN9300 connector).

Please help me, how can I cancel it?

UPDATE:
I sent a question to support toshiba dismissed in my town, and it's the anwser I got:

Dear Sirs,

Computers laptop Tecra are PRO series which is not possible to reset the password methods by removing the battery or similar because of the level of protection on these models.
Remove a BIOS password is possible using challenge & response exchange with the Toshiba service only available to support partners.
Deliver your laptop to perform because of diagnosis of the problem and make sure that you reset the password.
It is preferable that you can attach a receipt as proof of the ownership of this laptop.
Price $ 100 of services according to the process that we undertake.
If the hard drive is locked by the same method password on it can not be deleted and will be not possible to access the data.

I can't believe I have to unlock my phone and pay for it - and there is possibility that she will stay locked?

Hardware of the laptop is OK, but it is locked...
How can this be legal?

I paid for the laptop (it was new and I paid a lot of money for him) - and he has the "self-destruct" mode built into it!
How can this be?

Can you help me please...

    Hello

    > They work fine in USB mode, but in eSATA, I get no response from the TECRA S10-128
    I was a little confused m
As far as I know that the laptop supports the eSATA/USB combo port it s on the left and it conforms to the USB 2.0 standard.

A (HDD) connected eSATA device cannot be recognized unless it s connected to the eSATA port, while the phone is in standby or standby.
In this case, disconnect the eSATA device and reconnect it while the Tecra is turned on.
Usually, it takes about 10 seconds until the eSATA device would be recognized by the laptop. Don t try to disconnect and reconnect the drive before this period has elapsed.

In your case, I would check the BIOS settings.
The second page of the BIOS provides eSATA settings. Check it out.

I also recommend the installation of the OS switching device Configuration.
This can be done as well in the BIOS

I use above professional mobile phone use for CAD programming as well as for Office applications.
2 GB RAM (standard), I can increase up to 4 GB Kingston (ex aequo) on purchase.
With the 160 GB HARD drive, I had a lot at the beginning of the loss of speed.

    (1) in theory, SATA3 work perfectly well this SSD 240 GB right?
In the manual, it is up to 120 GB SATA2 SSD in it. However, the 2009 manual. The information is very old. And at that time were not yet 240 GB free for end users of hard drives SSD SATA3.

    (2) is there any Windows Professional / Ultimate / Business 64 for 7 as this laptop?

    > 1) in theory, SATA3 work perfectly well this SSD 240 GB right?
    > Manually, it is up to 120 GB SATA2 SSD in it. However, the 2009 manual. The information is very old. And at that time were not yet 240 GB free for end users of hard drives SSD SATA3.

The SATA controller is not limited in size, you can use 250 GB, 500 GB or more large hard disks. The same should be possible with SSD drives since the controller is the same.

(> 2) is there any Windows Professional / Ultimate / Business 64 for 7 as this laptop?
    > Original, I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. I wanted that my memory that expanded up to 8 GB. CAD program running on the 64-bit operating system much better.

Don't know what you mean exactly, but if you want to installed Win 7 64 bit, then you can do without big problems the 64-bit drivers are available on the European driver Toshiba page.

(> 3) is the card graphic and/or welded directly on my cell or can I leave replace it? It is a plug-in card?
The laptop seems to be equipped with a NVIDIA Quadro NVS 150 M chip graphic. This is an external chip that is connected/soldered on the motherboard. But even if you can remove this chip, the upgrade is NOT possible.

    (> 4) can I switch to a processor / CPU? What size?
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm

Generally the CPU upgrade depends on the chipset of the motherboard.
You could upgrade the processor, if the chipset would support the new processor.
There are still questions about BIOS support, but I've read here in the forum that some people have been able to upgrade the new processor.

(> 5) the Mobile UMTS and HSDPA / HSPAU / LTE is capable?
Support for 3G modules appears to support the HSDPA standard

(> 6) I still can't get on the Toshiba support site:
    > find when you enter the serial number or model number is not my laptop?

Maybe it is not inserted into the database, but your Tecra S10-183 belongs to the series of PTSB3E that you can search other models belonging to the PTSB3E for details

  • Two screens DVI on Port Replicator II with Tecra S10-160

    Hello to all 2!

Right now I'm working with two external 19 "TFT screens connected to the Port Replicator II (Tecra S10-160 inside with closed screen). A display is connected to the DVI port available, the other is connected on the available on the Port Replicator II VGA port.
A single display (DVI) is used as the main office, the other (VGA) is used as office improved (both show different content).

My problem is the poor quality of the VGA signal and the problem, my two new screens are only supported DVI.

Is it possible to connect two DVI displays to the DVI - D Port Replicator II? I already checked several DVI-Y-cables, but I'm still looking for a solution connect two displays via DVI with the function to get two split screens and not the same content on both screens.

Hope you got my point and have information or ideas for products for me.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Have you already tested a VGA to DVI? So, you can use the VGA connector on the port replicator and your monitor's DVI port.

I mean such a cable like this

Such an adapter you can always use the function to get two split screens and not the same content on both screens. :)

  • Caddy optical Bay for Tecra S10-106

    Hello

I would use an SSD instead of the conventional HARD disk, but SSDS are very expensive and that is why I would like to replace the optical drive with my conventional HARD drive. The optical drive is not often used and so I'm looking for a Bay optical caddy who easily replaced the DVD drive. I know that old Tecra Systems (e.g. 8100), that such a Bay was available.

I don't want to use an external drive, because I do not carry many devices with me. Please can someone help me?

    Thanks in advance.
    black_dragon

    Hey mate,

I know that there are these optics by caddy for some Toshiba laptops but I don t know if they are available for Tecra S10 and if it of possible.

You should ask a service provider authorized in your country. If this an optical bay caddy is available, you order if by technicians and they can give you a detailed response. :)

  • Re: Tecra S10 and S11 freeze randomly

We have several Tecra S10 and S11. Freezing randomly during the day. Some even twice within half an hour, others spread it throughout the day.

The Tecra is all Windows 7. Some have 64 bit, others a 32-bit installation. After installation of Windows 7, we have removed additional software we don't need, like McAfee, Toshiba goodies (Assist, Tempro, etc.), Ebay, etc. After that we activatie Office 2007 and Microsoft put updated laptops. So far so good.

However, after a week or two just work in Word causes the Tecra to freeze. Same ctrl + alt + delete does not work. The Tecra should be forced to turn off the power, press and hold the power button.

Everyone recognizes these "frozen moments". It's very annoying.

It is not easy to say why this is happening.
Always it is that Office is preinstalled on almost all laptops Toshiba so I did not thing your laptops can be somewhat different.

Maybe something else responsible for this?
Maybe are all connected to your business LAN and there is a problem.
Are connected external devices which can be responsible for this?
Maybe some internal software of the company is blocking something.

It is not easy to say what he can be.

Have you done tests in the past to see what can be the problem?

  • How downgrade Tecra S10 to Vista?

My friend asked me to fix his laptop. There Tecra S10-11 has. He had installed Vista, but it was installed Win7.
Now, he wants to come back that Vista, but it does not create the recovery disk. I checked the laptop and there 1.46 GB recovery partition.

It seems too small. How can I reinstall Vista and remove the installation of Windows 7?

I don't know what your friend did exactly and how he had installed Win7, but you can try to start the operating system from the HARD disk installation > http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm but I don't think it will work.
So to get Vista back you have two options:
-To order the Toshiba Recovery disk under https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx and have the factory settings or
-To install Vista using the Microsoft installation disc. All the necessary drivers, tools and utilities that you can download at Toshiba support page > http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

The second option is not so complicated and with our help, you can do this. ;)

  • Tecra S10 - e-SATA with WD MyBook problem

I have Tecra S10-10 loaded with win 7/32 final. From the beginning, there is fixation e-sata WD MyBook problem - most of the time cannot be reached
and Device Manager hangs up refreshing devices. Only restart after sometimes he can be attached, but only those by boot allows. All other devices works fine. Before win 7
I worked with XP no problem also.

I tried to update the drivers for the chipset for win 7 - but it failed with the message that this computer does not meet the minimum requirements.
The BIOS is 2.0. Trying to upgrade the BIOS to 3.0, he replied that Intel TXT must be disabled, but it is set in the BIOS, option cannot be selected.

No idea how to fix e-sata?

    Hi Damir

As I see that you do have a general problem with e-SATA, but just when you want to use this device to some so I think that the solution is not so easy.
This device is not known to me, but I suppose you guessed it with USB cable. You can use it with any other standard USB port?

  • Tecra S10 starts in 8-10 min

I have a new Tecra S10 and a problem with a very long departure.

When I turn it on, after the "Microsoft Corporation" with the green bar (it takes about 40 seconds) the black screen comes there for appr. 4 6 min. During these long minutes approx. of the HARD disk LED flashes. once per second. Finally so I can see "wait" and the rest of the starting procedure. After you turn off when I start again in a few minutes (not more than about 10) the computer starts very fast (I think - normally) means in1, 5 min. If the break is longer the departure time is long yet.

Does anyone have any idea whats wrong?

I guess you have started your laptop for the first time and OS was not configured completely and ready for use.
After that several reboots of the preinstalled OS should be ready to use.

Beware also of Microsoft updates. By default it is set to automatic and when you're laptop computer online will starts to download all this and slow down performance and next reboot may take a lot of time again.

In my opinion nothing is wrong there.

What can I do to fix it? Where can I find the drivers to install this utility?

    Hello

I agree with the user above. You must install or reinstall Toshiba Assist, which can be downloaded from the Toshiba page.

The installation should be performed in a few clicks only, and maybe you have to restart the laptop. After that, it should work.
    Can you confirm this?
