The USB Ports XPS 13 9333 grateful not any device

I was with my laptop at home and tried to connect an external USB hard disk. About a second after I connected the device, I get a statement did not recognize the device or the device (which is not the case because the device works on other computers). I tried to use a USB stick, a USB mouse and headphones, only to get the same popup.

The computer has the Intel i7 4500, and is 4th Gen running Windows 8.1 (x 64).

When I checked the controllers of Bus using Device Manager, I see four elements:
1 generic USB Hub
2 Intel (r) 8 series USB Enhanced Host Controller #1-9C 26
3 USB root hub
4 USB Compliant Host Controller xHCI

The fourth controller has a warning sign next to her, and when I click on the controller, it says "the device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12) »

When I try to update the driver, or remove, then reinstall, nothing changes. I tried to download the
Driver for USB 3.0 eXtensible (...) I read could be the solution, and it is said that the machine does not meet the system requirements.

I feel like I'm missing a controller "Intel (r) 8 Series" because when I said "#1", but whenever I scan for new drivers and updates the driver, nothing comes. "

Help, please. :(

Genius.  Insult, pure genius.

I had this problem and solved using a slightly modified version of your technique.  I disabled all BIOS 3 options at the same time, rebooted and logged.  The offending xHCI device had disappeared.  I went with a reboot cycle and reactivating one by one (with reboots and logins to Windows each time to check the Device Manager).  Once they were all turned on again, the problem disappeared from the Device Manager and the touchscreen reworked.

Thanks a bunch for the fix.

I got a screen that says "volume dirty cleaning in 3 steps" or something like that. Subsequently, the windows starts fine but the USB ports stopped working.

All 3 USB ports are now fueling your equipment (confirmed by my laptop fan) , but none of them give me access to any external devices as my flash drives.

It's simply not let me access the flash player - instead when I click on the flash player icon (drive F :) it asks me to format the drive before using.) • The Device Manager on my Windows box lists a hub USB 3.0 as one of USB controllers. This means that one or more of the USB ports are capable of 3.0?

I recently bought a backup disk says he would run faster is it my 3.0 instead of 2.0 USB ports.

Just try to understand the computer itself, if one of the 8 USB ports on my desktop Dell (Windows 7, 64-bit box) is capable of USB 3.0.

    Hi John,.

The message that Windows gives is Windows telling you put a USB 3.0 device in a USB 2.0 slot and the speeds will be Cap using USB 2.0 footrest.

If you are looking for your system on the website of Glens, it should tell you if one of the USB ports are 3.0 or not.  I think that USB 3.0 is marked with the blue wire around the ports.

During the last few days I been dealing with the issue that my laptop does not recognize the usb ports and wifi. After several reboots, it works fine. My drivers are up to date, so I don't know why, I'll have this terrible problem.

    Welcome @hildergarn,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome! It is an excellent site to find answers and ask questions. I understand that you have a problem with your Wi - Fi and USB ports on your laptop from HP.

My first suggestion would be to use the wireless network troubleshooting and Internet tool. At the bottom it will ask you questions to help you diagnose the problem.

Please take a look at this great Charter called troubleshooting wireless network and Internet. This document will help you to solve the problem of Wi - Fi.

Have you tried to restore the BIOS?

Have you tried to connect directly to the Modem/Router?

You have uninstalled the driver in Device Manager?

Please try to uninstall the driver in Device Manager by using the following steps:

    • Go to the Device Manager.
    • Expand network adapters.
    • Right-click on all NICs individually.
    • Click on uninstall.
    • Restart the laptop twice.

How many devices you try to connect?

What you are trying to connect via USB?

Are - what you happened to try to use the HP Support Assistant?

Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant, if you not him have not yet tried. Simply download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that need updated.

Here are other troubleshooting steps that may help too. If the USB device does not appear in Device Manager, then it might be a question of power requirement. Unplug the machine and perform the following steps until the device is detected:

    • Reboot the laptop
    • Plug in and wait five seconds.

    • If the device does not appear, try connecting to another USB port.

    • If the USB device is displayed in Device Manager after you connect the cable to a different port, then uninstall and reinstall the software of USB device driver.

If the device is not recognized in any port, unplug it and go to the next step.

    • Open the Device Manager.
    • Double-click Bus USB controllers,

    • Double-click on a USB root hub,

    • Click the Power tab

    • Click on properties of power supply (if it is displayed).

Devices need that are connected to the hub are shown, as well as the power they have. If the total displayed power is more than 500 mA, remove the devices and use a hub powered.

    • Continue looking at the properties of the power of each USB hub. If the total power required exceeds the total available power for the hub, then remove a device on this hub to a decrease in the number of consumption.

    • Plug in and wait five seconds. If the device is not recognized, unplug and go to the next step.

Please note; Remove USB cables at high speed that are more than 3 m (9.8 ft) in length and use cables at high speed that are shorter than 3 m.

  • plotter / cut not the usb ports

I recently moved my office and cutting cutter / plotter in another room. Now, for some reason, my vinyl cutting software does recognize not all USB Com Ports and therefore, will not cut.  (I tried configuring it for each port with no luck). When I open devices and printers and look at USB / series of properties of Strawberry, it shows that its on Com9... and I have 6 USB ports I know.  First question... where I expect to identify the USB ports are what #s.  4 behind the pc and 2 in front.

Com is a reference to the COM port and is a "serial port".  Replace the USB port.

PS <>, change the hardware configuration does not cause this problem.   Someone changed the settings.

  • Can not use the USB ports on my Satellite P10

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite P10 3 years computer that has 3 USB ports. None of them works although the power is coming from them than my external mouse upwards but lights does not work. In Device Manager it says that everything is working ok IE all the drivers, etc. I was told that it's probably the motherboard?

Maplins it's a software problem. I tried a PCI card with USB port but they no longer work. The PCI location is fine but as my wireless adapter card works from there ok. I restored the computer 3 times and each time the USB ports do not work.
Any suggestions? I want to add an external mouse drive DVD etc...

    Any help appreciated... Mark

    Hello

Did you use the clean Toshiba Recovery CD to restore the operating system on your laptop or have you installed the operating system from the original Windows CD.
I advise to use the Toshiba Recovery CD because all the driver and patches installed on this CD.

The USB ports provide a current of 500 ma, and it is a standard. If several external devices connected to ports needs more power as 500mA, then it of possible that the laptop does not detect USB devices several.

In Device Manager, you may turn off the power save the unique option to the USB ports.
You can do this in the properties of the USB port

Additional I advise to use a USB hub with external power clean.
These devices are not very expensive and will allow you to connect and use several devices together.

    Hello, manoj0910.

    Please visit Apple support communities.

Looks like you can't synchronize the pictures located on your external drive.  I need a little more information about your configuration to provide a better answer.  However, we will try to sync your photos through the section of the file through the article below.  You just need to direct iTunes to where your photos are stored on your external drive.

If your photos are in a folder

    1. Select "Choose a folder" from the context menu.
    2. Choose the folder where you store your photos.
    3. Click on apply.

You can arrange photos in subfolders to create photo albums.

    Hi Mike,.

Just to follow up with you on that, that very well may be the cause. Especially when it comes to mobile phones, the real cable you use is very important to have all the features when it is plugged into a computer. Where you can try a new USB cable yet, I hope that whoever is completely compatible with this phone.

I have 2.4 GHz Wireless Nano Mouse (model MP2375BLK) optics.  I removed the nano-receiver to the USB port & back the mouse did not.  Batteries are fine, if I remove the battery and put it back in the red light flashes once, but the mouse will not turn on.  I checked the State of the mouse in Control Panel control (devices & printers) and it indicates that the device is functioning!
