Toshiba Store Alu 3.5 "1 TB help

Hi, I bought this hard drive some time ago and it worked perfectly until today.
I plugged it in, and it asked me to format so I pressed Cancel. restarting the computer laptop and on restart the laptop does not recognize the hard drive more.
I turned the power to the HARD drive and turn it back on, the red LED flashes blue, he scolds much and then when it becomes a steady blue light stops rumble. the laptop does not. I've tried it on other pc and laptop computers and same problem.
Help, please.
Thank you!

* UPDATE * Theres has changed. It seems that when I turn on the power, the red light which means power up or turns off, turns on and then when the blue light is supposed to turn it on, it just turns off.

They should be able to get such parts.

  • Re: Toshiba Store Alu 3.5 "1 TB HARD drive works only with Windows 2008 64-bit

Just bought this as a backup device for Small Business Server 2008 running on Windows 2008 64-bit. However it does not? Are there drivers anywhere for this or it is simply not supported and I need to buy an alternative solution?

Plugged into my laptop Windows 7 64 bit and no problems.

Someone else had the same problem?

    Hello

Unfortunately, there is no other software by download.
I checked the driver page Toshiba in the Options area but didn't find anything

AFAIK it of a plug & play HARD drive if you n t need any software to recognize the HARD drive

    There may be a password.
    Try this:
Connect your HARD drive to the computer when the HARD drive is working
Select the CD drive with your browser (password)
    Run the ONSPCLCK.exe
    Select 'Options '.
    Select "Disable security password"
    Enter your current password
    Unplug the HARD drive
    connect the HARD drive

Now, it will work, but with no password protection. Perhaps it would work

It does not unusual noises high expectations or clicks. I tried to unplug and every bit nothing helps.

I read somewhere else that it can be a power supply problem? (a few days ago I had a really small power cut which lasted a second...)
I really hope that this isn't a drive failure hard because I have 250 gb of music in there! Should I send in repairs?
If so, my data would be deleted? I had this for only less than a month.

  • STORE ALU 3.5 "light blue showing but not connected.

I have a HDD external Toshiba Store Alu. I have problems to connect to my computer recently. It was working fine until 2 days ago but now all I have is light blue, but I hear that the drive does not work. The last computer I logged in, I had a flashing blue & red light which I know means it is not getting enough power - since then, it does not work on any computer.

Any ideas? If the disc is defective, I can get the recovered data?

    Thank you

    Hello

I m not owner of this external HARD disk but it sounds a bit like a hardware malfunction.
Maybe the HARD disk has crashed in such a case, you would lose data

    It s a 3.5 HDD right?
Well, perhaps you could remove this disk of the case and could connect to a HARD drive controller internal office PC.
You can check if the BIOS recognizes the HARD drive and internal hard drive

But if the BIOS would not recognize the HARD drive then it would mean that the HARD drive is dead!

    Hello

Have you tried to plug the drive external DRIVE on another computer?

I found this FAQ from Toshiba on the Toshiba Stor.E Alu (3.5 "- 1 TB - USB 3.0")
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/SPD4603LW0000R01.htm

It is said that the AC adapter or the AC adapter cable may be broken
But from my point of few, the HARD Drive LED (indicator) show the status of the HARD drive.
The HARD disk is turned on and that for this purpose, the power seems to be correctly provided on the HARD drive.

This means that the cable and the AC adapter should be OK.
I think that in your case the HARD disk (inside) may be broken.

  • Toshiba Stor.e ALU 2 s 3.5 "does not work with my XBOX

    Hi all, first timer here

Just got a Toshiba external hard drive as a gift. Wanted one for a while, mainly to use with my XBOX 360 to watch movies and listen to music on. However the xbox does not pick up the hardrive (connected via USB), but he'll be looking for my friends generic hardrives. Anyone has any idea why?

It looks like a fairly recent model, here are the specs in the (very rare) manual that came with the hard drive:

    Toshiba stor.e 2 s 3.5 ALU "
    1 TB
    USB 3.0
Backward compatible with USB 2.0 (I don't know what that means "backward" here)

I'm not a computer person. I use the laptop to surf the web, media, applications etc, basic College work. Few of my friends have external hard drives, mainly cheap generic brands of the average and all work fine on my XBOX, just plug-and-play.

If anyone has any advice on how to do it, or even where to go woth my question I would really appreciate it.

    TIA
    Creamy

    Hello

In my view Backward compatible means that you can use this HARD drive with USB 2.0 ports. But the fact is that USB 3.0 port provide 900mA and USB 2.0 only 500mA.
I guess that's your HARD drive
    http://www.Toshiba-multimedia.com/en/store-externe-Festplatten/ALU2-s-35/
According to specifications, you can find info that this HARD drive should 900mA

Therefore connect the HARD drive to two USB 2.0 ports using a USB Y cable.
I think this will help you.

  • Store alu 1 TB - 8.3 filenames

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium SP2
    PC: Laptop HP 6735 s

Yesterday I finally have unboxed my StorE alu 1 TB and started to copy files from my portable 250 GB Medion drive-and-Go for it.

Some files and folders have now received the old as 8.3 file names "blahbl ~ 1.zip".

The Toshiba and are both the Medion formatted FAT32 (the Toshiba out of the box).

Has anyone encountered this before and figured out how to fix it?

Something to do with the SATA drive?

Also, I noticed that some files and folders that are copied in the store will not copy to the Medion or my laptop - even when I try to copy one at a time.

    UH... help?

    > Both the Toshiba and the Medion that are formatted FAT32 (the Toshiba out of the box).
    > Has anyone encountered this before and figured out how to fix it?

Hmm, as far as I know you could disable the creation of 8.3 name on NTFS partitions:

    Type of RACE: * fsutil.exe behavior set disable8dot3 1 *.

But I don't know if this will be functions with Fat32 Mr. in the worst case, you will need to change the NTFS file system

  • Toshiba stor.e 1 TB HARD drive no longer works

    Hi all

I have a new Toshiba stor.e 1 TB HARD drive and was transfer photos and music to it and all was fine, I ejected it but when I plugged it back I get the message:

    F: is not accessible
    Data error (cyclic recovery control)

A quick search and it says that run cmd and chkdsk but that simply says:

The type of the file system is RAW
CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives

    Please can someone help?

    Thank you

According to the article in the Microsoft Knowledge base, the data error (cyclic redundancy check) - indicates that the operating system has found a car with bad sectors or some other intermittent problem.

In my opinion, you should go to disk management and check if the external HARD disk is listed:

    -> Panel-> administration-> computer management tools--> disk management

If his list, you can change the file RAW to NTFS format
Then you can perform a chkdsk command.

But you lose the data, change the file format.

As far as I know, using the command: + convert DriveLetter: /fs:ntfs + (drive letter + should be replaced with the drive letter of the USB HDD) should not lead to data loss

  • Toshiba Stor.E D10 on Satellite A660 PSAW3E esata connection

    Hello!!!

A few days ago, I bought a 1.5 to Toshiba Stor.E D10 eSATA HARD drive.
I tried to connect it via the eSATA cable. At first I saw my D10 HDD 1.5 in Win explore (Win 7 Home Premium x 64) as drive E.
When I tried to access the drive, I get a "device not ready" error I was expecting 5 minutes with HARD drive connected externally. I got the same error. When you look in the Device Manager in the records section I couldn't see it. All I see is the internal 640 GB HARD drive.
When I connect it via the USB 2.0 connection, the drive is recognized and working properly. I could transfer data to this subject with 23MBps max on USB 2.0 speed is 60MBps (480 Mbps).
As I work with huge video files (~ 10 GB per hour of video) I need an eSATA connection to expedite the transfer.

Plese help me with this problem!

I found an update of the firmware on the European driver Toshiba Stor.E TV page.
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU

    choose: Options-> drive-> multimedia hard disks devices-> 3.5 StorE TV +.

Now you should be able to download the latest firmware.

Not quite how you help mate.
I mean that if even the Toshiba authorized service provider can not control this remote control for Toshiba, I n t think any other retailer would be able to supply these parts.

However, perhaps you could get a 2nd part of the hand. Check some portals online like Ebay for example.
