Unable to access a windows share via a VPN

I have two networks connected via a VPN (two dd - wrt routers).

I can ping and access some devices on the network of the client network host. However, I can't access the shared windows resources. It says that it cannot connect.

Two computers one XP Pro.

Thank you

  • Unable to access the Windows 7 network or via router or ad hoc homegroup

I have a very annoying problem. I have 2 computers clean. They were formatted and Win 7 ultimate was installed on both computers. They have a PCI card (D - Link DWA-525) wireless. Their material is identical, the same motherboard, etc., next to "Server" is the pentium 4 and the 'customer' is celeron.

We have 2 routers and modem 1. The first router, Airport Extreme, serve as a DHCP server and provides the wireless network. The second router (TimeCapsule), supposed to be the first router ethernet extends wireless (Act as a bridge). I can connect to the network and the internet works fine.

The problem is with the local network.

I can see the two computers on the network tab. I can ping by IP and name. I made a Homgroup on the computer 'server '. The 'customer' computer is joined I can see the libraries. Firewall computer both are disabled. All firewalls, routers and modem are disabled.

A double click of the library on the homegroup does nothing. Attempts to access the shared by \SERVER folder or by the tab network gives a "path network not found" error.

Basis, such as the file and sharing, settings etc, are on. Password sharing is disabled. Encryption is 40-50 (not 128, I don't remember the exact number). It's both for the work at home and Public networks.

Because I could not access the network, I decided to make a special one. Same problems. Even with the static IP address (192.168.0.1 [Server] and 192.168.0.3 [customer], 255.255.255.0 subnet) and NetBios forced to activated.

I just can't make it work. I have tried many info from here and other forums, but nothing is working. The worst part is that another PC will join the network, but I have not do it again just because I can't do these PC to work. A test, I put the other PC on the network (Win 7 Home), and the same problem applied.

All computers can see them in the network, two ping tab ways with IP and name, but when trying to access the pc via network, it gives the network not found error path.

    Yes, I shared files.

Homegroup troubleshooting and network that find anything wrong or just can not solve the problem.

    Help, please!

  • Unable to access Windows Update page

I am running XP Service Pack 3 and were unable to access the Windows Update page for a few weeks now. I get an error message saying that "Internet Explorer can not locate the page". I tried several routes to access the update page, but they all fail. Analysis of virus and malware picked up nothing. I am running Internet Explorer Ver 8.

It turns out that the problem was software malicious. After the last post, more I tried to do at least I could do: Internet Explporer wouldn't start again, I could not copy files from one drive to the other and my backup software has been disabled. I have reinstalled Windows to solve problems. Scans of my files from backup using Quick Heal has revealed the presence of Trojan.Gen, who may have let in some other bad guys. I can now access the update site.

  • The share of customers unable to access the network - error 0x80004005

Hello, my network has the following configuration.

    • Server - Windows 2003 Server - acting as DNS, domain controller, file server
    • Clients - Windows XP Pro, Windows Vista business, Windows 7 Pro
    • DHCP server is on my router. All customers running on DHCP

For some unknown reason, some network sharing has stopped working since yesterday. When users connect by Ctrl + Alt + Delete by using their network accounts, they are unable to access their computers in office, services, Skype etc., gives an error of 0 x 80004005 (unspecified error). They are not forced to use roaming profiles.

I opened Windows Explorer and typed \\server\share. The same error is invited. However, if I try to access the share of \\ip\share, it can show me the files without a problem.

I took to refine measures issues

    • Connectivity - outcome of the network: Internet access / access server by IP. So no connectivity problem
    • Ping-ing the name of the computer server - result: OK. So not a DNS problem
    • Check firewalls – result: Clients running Windows Firewall correctly. Network type, the value of 'work '.

Other facts that may be useful

    • No third-party firewall. All running on Windows Firewall.
    • No settings changed before problem appeared
    • Problem appeared after a reboot the server

(P.s. Skype prompted "Cannot find necessary files and cannot start". "I think it's the same problem with network shares, because the application data is also stored in network shares.)

  • Windows 7 stops allowing access to the shares.

I have a Windows 7 Pro 64-bit installed.  I have a computer repair shop and use this computer as a file server. I have a share of "Programs" created for other computers can connect and load updates, etc.  I think I created the part successfully but a few problems.  I can connect on the share via any OS such as XP, Vista, 98, etc. BUT other Windows 7 PCs are still able to connect.  For some reason but all of a sudden the Windows 7 PC will stop allowing access.  I can restart the PC Windows 7 and everything starts to work properly again.  I can't understand this because all computers are able to independently connect BONES, then after a while, it will start to deny access to the OS legacy until a reboot.  Can anyone help?

    Hi danieljh,.

My first suggestion would be to update the network cards.

If that makes no difference then perform a clean boot and see if any third-party application interferes with performance on Windows 7.

To perform a clean boot on a computer that is running Windows 7, follow these steps.

    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.

    2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.

    3. under Selective startup, clear the check box load startup items.

    4. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.

    5. click on OK.

    6. When you are prompted, click on restart.

    7. after the computer starts, check if the problem is resolved.

If your issue is resolved, follow the how to determine what is causing the problem section in KB article to narrow down the exact source.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

In addition, see the section on how to restore your computer to a Normal startup mode.
