  • Windows updates always fail

    Both manual and automatic Windows updates do not always succeed. I get the message "configuration of the Windows updates failed. Restoration of the changes. Do not turn off your computer. "I use Windows 8.

    I tried the "following": restart the computer, disconnect the removable media to your computer, run the windows update utility, install updates windows in a clean boot state. None have worked.

    When I view the news, updates failed, its especially Code 8024200d, but a little Code 800F0826 with Code 800703F1. Still, the troubleshooting solutions windows links you to support these mistakes have not worked.

    It comes in combination with an abundance of other issues, such as the Windows not opening not store (and you bet I tried all the "solutions" for this too) and problems to install a number of programs that all end in "roll back action" due to an error and problems with my computer, identify devices like cell phones and ipods because of driver/USB problems.

    I also tried to update the PC, but I get the error "unable to find the necessary files.

  • Windows updates always fail for Windows 7

    I use Windows 7 Home Premium and all my updates fail, I tried everything, don't know what else to do?  I'm worried about security without these updates.

    To help you, we would need more information about the error you receive. Several times, you will get an error code in the 0x000000format.

    As a first step, you can try to reset the Windows Update components. Download and run the Microsoft Fixit using the link below:

  • Vista - Windows Update fails and defender gives the error code: 0 x 80080005

    Well, I downloaded Veoh Web Player and DivX player (with a driver package) almost the exact same time, so I don't know who caused the problem. (Guessing Veoh done.) I restored system which usually solves it for me and then uninstalled both programs and even if my computer is not nearly as slow as it was when they were both installed, it's always problems. Windows open frequently stops responding. As I said, the system restore only makes it better for a short time while longer I go without eating, the freezier my computer becomes. I also noticed that for about 2-3 days (after which my computer almost completely freezes and I have to startup repair) most minor cosmetic changes.

    I use Firefox, so the first change I noticed was that left side of the address bar in a small half circle in a regular square. Tiny. Then the scroll bars on all the programs I've used lost their Aero look and returned to normal, old style Windows. Eventually good menus click lose their new look, then all the start menu, and finally Windows Explorer stops working and all the windows, when not in use, become small tabs at the bottom of the screen. After that the computer hangs almost entirely.

    Each time I restart or system restore the first thing I see is a little box that says that a Windows host process has stopped working. Windows Update continually fails and Windows Defender gives the error code 0 x 80080005. What can I do? I looked for answers before coming here to help and what I read it looks like a downloaded driver can interfere with the host process, even if I uninstalled it (supposedly) all. Thank you.

    Applications, (Norton and McAfee) are known to not uninstall (or upgraded) themselves.

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. click right on the file saved in #1 above, and then select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    Please answer each of the following [admittedly tedious] diagnostic questions in a numbered list type in your very next answer (no need to quote this post):

    1. when (date about) don't you buy the computer?

    2. What is the full name of your application or the installed antivirus security suite and when (date about) is your subscription current expires?  What (other than Defender) anti-spyware applications are installed?  What third-party firewall (if applicable)?

    3 a Norton or McAfee application ALREADY installed on the computer?

    4. do you have a free trial Norton, or a test of free McAfee [a] come preinstalled on the computer when you bought it? (No matter if you have never used or activated).

    5 are ALL the following updates listed in installed updates (not update history)? [1]

    (a) KB2705219, KB2712808, KB2744842 [KB2722913 or KB2719177 or KB2699988], KB2731847 [or KB2718523] and maybe KB2736233;

    (b) KB2698365, KB2691442, KB2655992 & KB2719985 [or maybe KB2721691];

    (c) KB2685939 and possibly KB2686833.

    (d) KB2658846, KB2659,262, KB2660649,562, KB2688338 & KB2690533 KB2676;

    (e) KB2393802 KB2644615, KB2633171, and especially KB971029.

    6. If Windows Vista Service Pack 2 is listed in the installed updates, when (the exact date) he was installed according to the history of the update (this time)? [2]

    Try reinstalling the drivers for your printer. I had times when an update has done something that required that I have reinstall the drivers for a product. Don't know why, though. It's not really 'supposed', but he did.

  • Windows Update: Windows update Setup failed...

    Install Windows 8 Pro upgrade, Windows 7, the two 64-bit, yesterday. Installation went well and everything seems to work. I had to reboot tonight and got the message "Installing Update 2 of 11, (etc.) do not disconnect or turn off your computer. Do not touch anything during the time that he finished all updates 11. Restarts and then delivers the message: 'Windows update Setup failed. Restoration of the changes. Do not turn off your computer"the whole process takes about 30 minutes before I was back at the lock screen and could connect.
    Go to Windows Update in Control Panel and it indicates what it y 11 important available updates, which wouldn't be fair because they do not have. Then, I simply restarted... nothing more. Received the message "" Installing Update 2 of 11... "." as before, restarts and then get the message: 'Windows update Setup failed. Restoration of the changes. Do not turn off your computer"all over again for 30 minutes.
    No idea where to look for that could be the cause of the problem? Anyone else had this experience?
    TIA

    After another session of 4 hours with MS display driver chat and remote access, that we got all of the updates to install by removing the nVidia card. Which caused the conflict. I have never had any problems with nVidia drivers before that. So everyone can learn from my experience is 306.97 nVidia display driver and the problem edits are KB2756872 and KB2770917 for Windows 8 64-bit.
