WAP54G Access Point in Client Mode

A client mode Linksys Wireless-G Access Point can communicate with a wireless-n wrt300n router?

I continue to see the next note that worries me, it won't work:
NOTE: The WAP54G will communicate only with an another WAP54G when the value for the Client Access Point.

If this is not the case, what can I use to connect my PC to the floor to my router to wide band wireless downstairs. I prefer to use something other than a wireless NETWORK card because the PC is in a bad spot in the House.

Thank you.

Thank you.

I think that you must configure your AP as Repeater wireless... Follow the link here , make sure that when you set your Access Point to the "Wireless Repeater" mode, this device will communicate only with a different Access Point Linksys (WAP54G) and wireless G of Linksys (WRT54G) router...

  • WRE54G canmot associated not with this access point in Repeater mode.

    Hello

Because of the concrete walls, I have a weak signal to use the WRE54G to extend my existing wireless network. However, I installed an Ethernet cable and found possible to connect the WRE54G access point. This is my extension of network is via a connection to an Ethernet cable. Is seems to work fine, it allows communications to the internet and shows a power good signal from a remote PC. But it works only in unsafe mode.

Although I tried to reset, and then follow the instructions to set up a new WEP or WPA encryption, the installation program recognizes the WRE54G, but does not allow me to save the configuration.

The error it says it is "WRE54G canmot not associate with this access point in Repeater mode.

    Help, please

Make sure your router's wireless settings and WRE are the same. Try changing the channel on your router, if your router's wireless channel is the default after the procedure, your WRE is unable to communicate with your wireless router.

  • I need assistance with my WAP54G access point!

I tried to connect my nintendo dsi to the internet using the WEP encryption, so I went to my router configuration page, then he wasn't no matter what tab wireless or settings on the page... my dsi SYSTEM can go to the internet via the setting of WPA, but my games, which is supported with WEP setting cant. so, I really need someone's help now! I don't want to miss the online features of my games... also, I asked my father if he can help me then he says he can only if I find the CD or download WAP54G ver 3.1 somewhere.

    Thanks in advance...

If your Access Point is connected to a wired router, so you don't have to change the settings of your router, you just need to enable wireless security and change the SSID of your Access Point, and it should be good to go... Also make sure that your Access Point is in the subnet of your router...

If the IP address of the router is 192.168.1.1, then the Access Point on your address IP should be 192.168.1.245...

  • WAP54G access point cannot connect to more than one PC at a time

    Hello

I'm a newbie in the entire wireless router installation process.

I have a WAP54G AP. I managed to enter the configuration page and rename my router and set a WPA2-Personl password.

The issue I'm facing is that when my roommate and I try to connect to the router at the same time, it shows the laptop that connects then as one who has "limited connectivity" and so cannot use the internet. However, the 1st laptop works very well!

The settings for the router were all left by default.

I don't know, but this problem has something to do with the fact that the router that is configured with a static IP address.

If Yes, then there is an another issure which is that whenever I have try to change static automatic/Dynamic IP, the page fails and that the router is not even connect to configuraion (192.168.1.245) page after that. The only way to get this page again is the reset of the router.

Also I am not able to get directly in the config page, when I connect my router to my laptop through lan. I need to change the LAN IP address to 192.168.1.x where x is > 1.

Is this normal or is there a problem?

If anyone has a solution to all or part of these problems, I'd love to hear back in shape as you.

    Thank you!

    Yes. This is the reason.

    Best regards.

    OK, let's do this easily.

If independent IOS, this is what you want the PA to start with, the more simple (and fast) to get this race is to format the flash of the AP (command: format flash :).)

When formatting is finished, load the standalone IOS using the method of the Mode button.

  • Linksys Wireless-G Access Point WAP54G ver 3.1 security problem

    Hello!

I have WAP54G access point in our network. I would like to change the WPA security settings, but am not able to do.

I did everything as mentioned in the installation manual, and I get to the 5th sheet of status points: Firmware version v.304, MAC (numbers), the 192.168.1.245 IP address, SSID linksys channel Channel 6 and disable WEB security

What I would do, is to change the SSID and WPA2 security. When I'm clicking 'Yes', he goes to the next sheet "Password", I write admin and click on "Enter". "I'm going to pop-up window Setup access violation" at address 0049BDB6 in module 'Setup.exe '. Write to the address C933016A. »

So please, any ideas what to do? This shouldn't be so hard... It works very well as an access point, but I need to have at least some security.

  • WAP54G (v3.1) in Repeater Mode to WRT54G (v5) will not affect the IP via DHCP

Hi, I just installed a WAP54G Access Point and define the AP as REPEATER mode.  I followed all the instructions, including the seizure of the MAC address of the router (WRT54G).  The signal seems to have substantially improved by the WAP in Repeater mode, but I can't connect to the wireless network as an IP is not able to attribute.  I tried different laptops running different wireless cards and get the same result.  Two (for WAP and the WRT) MAC addresses appear in the "monitor of the site" the utility of the wi - fi card (of course, WAP is the most powerful signal), but it fails when it tries to acquire a network address.  If I move the laptop closer to the WRT, assigns an IP address physically & I can connect, I just can't get the router to pass the IP address through repetition to the laptop.  I have updated the firmware on the two WRT & WAP.  No difference.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • RV180W add the access point with itinerant support

I have a client with a RV180w the latest firmware running.  We currently use the router as a router and provide wireless access.  We want to add a wireless coverage and I'm interested in our options.  We have a network unifying ethernet that we could use to give the new connectivity LAN AP.  Can buy us another RV180W and use it in AP mode and roaming wireless connectivity.  The customer wants a guest and business WLAN so we'll use the VLAN of the router.  How we set up the new AP?  Should we use WDS?   If we use WDS, can we still use WPA2?  Thank you for your help.

    Hello, Mr. Carl,.

Yes is possible to use WDS and WPA2 at the same time.

The master of accreditation will be setup as a RADIUS server to authenticate the other access points, while clients use the WPA2-PSK, which occupies the same on each access point.

Let me share with you the information found on WDS and the configuration of basic, found on the guide me section.

  • Ordered the wrong access point!

    I thought that I had ordered a 1130ag but looks like I ordered a 1131ag LWWAP.

Please could someone tell me what the difference between a 1130 and 1131. I understand I can load the IOS on the light AP software using a tftp server, but I do not know which exit to load on this subject. 12.3JX, 12.3JA, 12.3JEA, 12.3JEB! can anyone help please? either by the way, I am in the United Kingdom, do not know if this affects image to install. Thank you.

    Hi Paul,.

    This happens all the time, so it shouldn't be a problem :) I'm guessing that you have received this AP - AIR - LAP1131AG - x - K9 LWAPP. When you really wanted this AP - AIR-AP1131G-x-K9 Cisco IOS software. Look at the comparison;

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/products/ps6087/products_data_sheet0900aecd801b901c.html

That being said, you should be good to go with 12.3 (11) JA1.

To access Cisco Aironet to Cisco IOS version 12.3 Points (11) JA1

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/wireless/access_point/iOS/release/notes/b11jar1n.html

Cisco IOS version 12.3 (11) JA1 supports 32 MB independent platforms. 16 MB platforms and platforms supported by Cisco IOS version 12.3 (8) JA and earlier versions (350, 1100, 1130, 1200 and 1230 access points and access point/bridge 1300 series) are supported by Cisco IOS version 12.3 (8) JEA1.

    Do not install a "JX" (it is a software image support to upgrade and recovery Cisco Lightweight Access Point Protocol (LWAPP));

These release notes describe features, improvements, and caveats for Cisco IOS release 12.3 (11) JX1.

Note: This version must be loaded on points of access to the plant or by using the lightweight stand-alone mode upgrade tool. Your access point may become unusable if you install this software without using the upgrade tool.

    Returning to standalone Access Point

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/products/HW/wireless/ps430/prod_technical_reference09186a00804fc3dc.html#wp161272

You can convert an access point of the mode light return to autonomous mode by loading a Cisco IOS version that supports stand-alone mode (Cisco IOS release 12.3 (7) JA or earlier version). If the access point is associated with a controller, you can use the controller to load the version of Cisco IOS. If the access point is not associated with a controller, you can load the version of Cisco IOS using TFTP.

By using a TFTP server to revert to a previous version

Follow these steps to return mode LWAPP stand-alone mode by loading a version of Cisco IOS using a TFTP server:

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 1 the IP address of the computer on which the server software runs TFTP should range from 10.0.0.2 to 10.0.0.30.

Step 2 make sure the PC contains the file access point (for example, c1200-k9w7 - tar.122 - 15.JA.tar for a 1200 Series access point) in the TFTP server folder and the TFTP server is activated.

Step 3 Rename the access point image file in the folder of the TFTP server c1200-k9w7 - tar.default for a series of 1200 point, c1130-k9w7 - tar.default of access for a series of 1130 access point and c1240-k9w7 - tar.default for a series of 1240 access point.

Step 4 connect the PC to the access point using an Ethernet category 5 cable (CAT5).

Step 5 disconnect the power to the access point.

Step 6 push the MODE button and hold the button while you reconnect power to the access point.

Step 7 hold the MODE button until the status of the LED turns red (approximately 20 to 30 seconds), then release.

Step 8 wait until restarting access point, as indicated by the LEDs become green followed the status LED flashes green.

Step 9 after the access point reboots, reconfigure using the GUI or the CLI.

  • NETGEAR D7000 - Mode Access Point - connection problems with iOS Devices

    Hello

Having a problem with my Netgear D7000 in mode access point.

My laptop (MacBook Pro) can successfully connect to WiFi and my PC connects fine cable using the D7000 as a switch.

iOS devices, however, hurt that is to get or maintain a connection - even if they connect to and then some time later they will fall the network. Go to settings shows the client attempts to connect, but seems to be stuck with an assigned random IP (not on the subnet of law), no gateway by default, etc..

iOS clients are an iPad 3, iPhone 5 & iPhone 5 c. All about the latest version of iOS.

Other access points by train (Belkin, billion) that's fine.

DHCP etc. everything is managed by my router which is a constant for all devices and access points - but I tried to change that, and he has not made a difference also.

D7000 is on the latest firmware (v28), I tried to reset it and setting up from scratch, but no joy.

    Any ideas?

Change the channel seems to resolved this problem.

  • Access point WAP54G whose MAC addresses are the same

I have 3-point WAP54G access that are connected together using wireless bridge settings found under the "AP Mode" in the menu.

I would add a fourth unit, but as I am doing so I discovered that the 4th unit network MAC address is the same as that of the three already existing in my lan bridge WAP54Gs.   How can this be?  All units, aren't supposed to have unique MAC address of the factory.  I have triple checked to make sure that I am indeed two different units WAP54G.  Yes there is indeed to disting WAP54G units in my possession to what appears to be duplicate MAC addresses.  Then two units with double MAC addresees exsist on the same bridge LAN?  If this is not the case, is it possible to change one of the units, itg is not possible to return a device?  Thanks in advance for your help in this matter.

  • Wireless-G Access Point WAP54G & Thompson SpeedTouch ST585

For the life of me, I can't get this device to work. I am trying to create a point of access to a device not pc a FTA Receiver. The FTA Receiver needs access to the internet and works very well with an ethernet cable. I had hoped to use the WAP54G as a wireless connection. The installation CD does not recognize the modem/router Thompson SpeedTouch ST585 so I've been using the web to access the settings of the WAP54G. I did some readings using Google search and access via the web, I had to leave it white instead of enter "admin" after that tumble down the Userid first discovered, always through Google, I have tried setting the SSID, the same name as the SpeedTouch ST585 "INFINITUMB69844" done more reading I found that I needed to set the security on the WAP54G are the same on the SpeedTouch ST585 in my case as WEP passphrase window and set the WEP encryption key and press the button generate, which filled up all the empty spaces of keys. I am on windows XP and the fact a network routine from the control panel and also the repair option. Still no go. Unity of FTA, I am trying to connect has a DHCP option auto who will fill the IP address once it connects to the network so far all I get is zero, it does not connect. I need help with the settings. I did put my PC IP static or tried other methods suggested on Google. I thought to ask the experts. Please help me. Chris

How you try to configure your Access Point and where are you going to connect this AP?

As you mentioned that you have a Thompson Speedtouch router, and that you have entered the same settings wireless to your router to the AP, and if you plan to connect the AP to another device, then it is not not possible.

WAG54G will work only in Repeater Mode / Mode Bridge that with the Linksys router, with all other routers it only works in a Mode Access Point, it means you need to keep this access point wired to your Thompson Speedtouch modem always.

Have Pietro Hi, you tried accessing it via its IP address? Perhaps search using MAC address in the DHCP of the router/gateway DHCP client table is connected to. The MAC is written on the label at the bottom of the unit.
