Windows xp hard drive

I can't find a hard drive of windows xp to my computer. I need a new because it failed.

all hard drives sold in computer stores are empty, but can be prepared for xp by installing the xp via the cd of xp operating system.

and according to what is "failure" on the old drive hard, the xp installation cd can even be able to make it functional again.

How can I move the Virtual Mode of Windows XP hard drive to another drive?

    TIA

    Hi Benyl,

The vhd in programfiles basis cannot be moved or renamed, if done, xp mode stops at the start.

To move the files under c, first to boot xp, instead of save mode the machine virtual., turn it off. (settings to prompt the user for action narrow close). Close the machine virtual., and then choose stop. This will remove the vsv file. Do not delete the .vsv file because it contains data if you have not registered in the virtual machine.

Now, move it "C:\Users\CHRIS.domainname\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows virtual PC\Virtual Machines\Windows XP Mode.vhd" to a desired location.

Parameters of xp mode open, go to the hard drive 1 setting and reposition the hard drive to the new location of the vhd. You should now be able to start the virtual machine.

  • Windows 7 - hard drive not found

    Hello

I have a problem with the new Windows 7 and it is that it does not find my hard drive.
I can see the c partition, but my d partition, where all data is unable to find.

I checked in administrative tools and I found it but I can't even open my d partition.

    Stand by.
Have you installed Win7 or you want to install it and can not see the D partition on THIS stage?

  • You can start a windows Mac hard drive

Before selling my PC, I retained my SATA hard drive that has Windows XP. And now, I was wondering if I can boot to it directly by going to the start menu in the start by pressing option. My friend told me that there is an option for bootcamping but it's to create a partition, but tbh I don't want that. I want only one HDD for windows whenever I need. I've heard that maybe I need to install my Windows XP drivers to make it work in mac hardware. Is it possible to fix this?

my MacBook Pro 13-inch, mid-2012 is

Its probably doable though I've ever tried.

Boot Camp can be used without creating a new partition, as long as you already have an unused partition or HD. I ran my Windows XP and Win7 installed on a HD in my MacPro 2008 (mac tower with 4 HD bays).

Issues that come to mind are as follows:

    • You will probably need to pilots. They are normally downloaded via the Boot Camp Assistant application. Most of them is 3rd party software and divers with some exceptions for a few specific Apple things. These are installed after the Windows installation is performed when you perform an installation of Boot Camp, so I would imaging that it should be possible to apply any existing Windows Installer.
    • I vaguely remember Windows being only unable booted from an external hard drive so that might be a problem.
    • I also wonder if the Boot Camp is necessary in step of format and prepare to install Windows to set up a Windows OSX Bootstrapper.
  • Cannot install Windows 7 HARD drive problems

    Hi all!

I have lenovo ThinkPad T540p. Intel Core I7, 8 GB RAM and 500 GB HARD drive. I think my HARD drive is Toshiba. It had Windows 7 on it, but it starts no more on this subject. When I start Windows is it shows 5 seconds black screen, and then it displays the Boot Menu. Well, I tried to reinstall Windows, but when I have to choose on which disk to install Windows, I get an error: "no hard drive found." And the list with readers is empty, so I can't reinstall Windows. I've updated the BIOS, but it did not help. Finally, I formatted my HARD drive and created two partitions on it. It worked, but not for long. I installed Windows 7. Everything was going well until I restarted my computer. And then I got the same problem: 'Cannot start from the HARD disk' and displays the Start Menu. Then I booted Windows installation and I got the same error: "no hard drive found."

I don't understand what is happening with my HARD drive and that is to destroy his scores.

And I don't think that my HARD drive is broken.

I don't really know what to do!
    Please, help me!

    Thanks a lot!

    Here is the solution:

My HARD drive was broken. I bought a new MX100 of Crucial SSd and everything is fine.

On the ssd, it was in error, and I read a forum saying that removing the drive sata hard and get on ssd. I did and I did but after connecting the hard drive it is said that there are no windows installed.

    Hi there @Abdull,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome! It is an excellent site to find answers and ask questions. I watched the Style GPT error and the error No Windows installed.

The laptop you have comes with SATA 500, but you also have a 30 GB SSD. Does do that? The SSD is external, or put in the machine yourself?

I would say performing a HP System Recovery to reinstall the operating system, assuming that the partition is still intact. If this is not present, you did a set of recovery media?

Please follow these troubleshooting steps, re-post and let me know how everything went.

    Hello

I posted a similar message last month, but it is a new issue.

I start with a completely fresh SATA hard drive, purchased yesterday and the recovery that were sent to me by HP disks.  I think that I have can I have inadvertently damaged the last new hard drive he began to throw up a lot of mistakes 'disk fail.

I was expecting, it's a straight forward case this time, but I was struck with the following message appears during the recovery process: "Windows could not restore your computer by using the factory imagebe"

I followed the advice of this guy: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Operating-Systems-and-Recovery/Recovery-Manager-could-not-resto... and got an iso disc of Windows 8 (maybe 8.1).

I started with the iso disk and followed the instructions on the screen until I was asked to choose the installation location. I chose the one and the only displayed 1 TB drive, but after nearly 30 minutes, the installer said "Windows is unable to install to the selected location. "Error: 0 x 80300001.

I thought that this new disc may need partitioning and/or formatting, but I tried it via the command prompt only to be presented with another error - IO error. My hands are essentially firmly tied behind my back now.  I feel like I'm just opening a long line of Pandora's boxes at every turn!

This time, I was convinced that, with a new batch of discs of HP Receovery official, it would be simple veil--what a mistake!

My thoughts are to delete all partitions, select new. Windows will create all the required partitions.

Hi, I just bought a defective HP Pavilion P6 known.   After receiving and checking, it appears that the hard drive is faulty.

The machine does not start, I have activated POST messages and now a screen message saying that 'no boot disk was detected, or the drive failed.    The DPS self test fails with code 7.

I disabled the secure boot and can boot from a CD of Linux, so I know that, basically, the computer is still alive

My question is, once I have comes from replacing the hard drive, I can get a copy of replacement windows to HP or do I buy one out of the copy of the Windows Tablet (or install Linux)?

I was told that the machine is two years old and just out of warranty.

    Thank you!

If out of warranty, you will most likely need to buy a set of HP or a partner of HP recovery disk. The good thing is that it's a reasonable price.

  • Update of Windows, external hard drive + sound problems

I have a laptop Dell Inspiron 1720 with Windows Vista installed. I recently bought a Western Digital 1 TB external hard drive, which I forgot to unplug a couple times when I turned off the computer... Windows normally the thing 'install updates & stop', and I'm sure that he accidentally put the files to one of these updates on my hard drive, because a little bit ago, I noticedthis new file . He also said that the hard drive is used whenever I'm trying to remove it safely, even if I did open / running. I wonder if there is a way to solve this problem...? Is it safe to just delete the files from my external hard drive?

In addition, around the same time, through the speakers of my laptop stopped working. He still works perfectly with headphones plugged in however. In playback devices, speakers/headphones (SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC) is active and supposed to be 'working '. When I check with Device Manager, it says that the software is up-to-date and fully functional. I wonder if this could possibly be linked to a bad Windows update... and also how to fix it.

  • Upgrade to Windows 10 new disk when the Windows 7 hard drive does not

I have a desktop HP with Windows 7 Pro and since last week, it will fail to start.   It seems that it is approaching, but everything does not end.    I would just buy a new SSD and upgrade to Windows 10.      I don't have Windows 7 installation floppies, but the license key is on the case of the office.      What are my options?   Hopefully I won't need to buy Windows because my hard drive has failed.

    Hello

Thanks for posting on Microsoft Community. We regret the inconvenience and appreciate your interest for Windows 10.

The license key of the operating system is integrated into the motherboard. To enable Windows 10 without facing any errors, you must activate the previous version of Windows with a valid license key, and then proceed to the upgrade.

If you replace the SSD HARD drive, you must activate the previous Windows, i.e. Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 version, if it is a true copy as well as the activation key and then upgrade to Windows 10.

Since you do not have an installation disc, I suggest to create one by downloading the ISO image of Windows 7 on a CD or USB key and check if you are able to download the operating system.

    https://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/home

After downloading and installing Windows 7, upgrade to Windows media authoring tool10.

Note: See the section on the use of the media creation tool from the link above for more information.

  • Reformat Windows 7 hard drive for the next clean install Windows ISO 10

This is in anticipation of the next clean install of Windows 10 ISO.

It is understood that I need to move from Win 7 to win 10 first, before clean install. (Select MS verify the legitimacy)

It is understood that I need to reformat the hard drive before a clean install.

It is also understood that the "recovery disk" can reformat the hard disk.

    ===================================================

One of my computers in Win 7 I would successfully created the "recovery discs. (Wonderful)

    --------------------

Problem:  My other Windows 7 (Vista upgrade) will not let me create the "recovery discs.

When you do: start / run / recovery

It allow me to create "backup and restore disks. (This is not the recovery disks that I need).

    ===========================

Question: How do I reformat my another computer on Windows 7 (Vista upgrade)?

Note: Two computers are different: the first is a HP, the other is a gateway.

("Partitions" of hard drives may be different.)

I don't know: if I can use the recovery made the first computer disc to reformat my second hard drive?  If this isn't the case, I'll be in trouble, because I don't know how to reformat my second computer.

You need to use the means to reinstall that you can upgrade Windows Vista Setup to format the drive.

The other system recovery media is likely to not work, but you can always try, but have appropriate reinstall media just in case.

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

  • Driver Windows 7 HARD drive

Hi, try to install Win 7 on a dell poweredge 1850. Boot from a USB hard drive, everything is fine until it reaches the hard drive (logical drive 1 LSI raid controller). When I search a driver all that I get is an exe dell and the advice of other forums to use Win2008 driver. Problem is that I can't find the driver for Win 2008. I installed 2008 on the 1850 another, but the source of the files appear not to be any use Win 7 says there is no signed for my hardware drivers. Checked the box of HCL only see the but still not good. What I am after is a Win 7 driver file will recognize.

    Any help would be appreciated

Do you use an add-in PERC 4e/DC or PERC 4e/Si on board?  That doesn't really count because they use the same driver - just so I know what we are working with.

This is the driver you should use... it's to 2008 R2.  It uses the same core as Windows 7, so it should be this one you use first.  Keep in mind that R2 is 64-bit only, so if you try to install Windows 7 32 - bit on that, you may need to check the site Web of LSI for a driver.  They should have an 'equivalent' under the name of LSI controller because they are controllers for Dell based on controllers of their own.  You might be able to get the equivalent LSI identifier for the POST, that the RAID controller is loading, or in the RAID BIOS itself.  However, it is unlikely that LSI will have everything.  Down line... If the 2008 R2 drivers do not work for you, you may not be able to install Windows 7 on the 1850.

  • Windows 7 hard drive stolen when idle and during programs execution system

I can hear my hard drive C beating away when my system is idle, and even though my system is running programs.

Think it might be Firefox that uses the hard drive much - checked, uses the hd a little, but not more than usual, but I can still hear the hard drive clicking suite. So I close Firefox. Still ongoing.

Tried to switch browsers Chrome, and even has a lot more use of the disk by cycle Firefox did. But no matter whether Chrome is open or not, I can still hear the beating of hard drive.

Tried to use IE as my main browser, still no luck.

I checked on the Windows Task Manager, but no 1 process shows a lot of the use of the disc. I tried then to resource monitor and 'System' appears at the top of the list of processes sorted by use of the disk. But there are a lot of sub-thingos (forgive my ignorance of jargon) ongoing enforcement under 'System', while originally the beating of disc?

I disabled the process that has been suggested on the forums, without any change in the use of Windows Media network share drive.

Then I saw a thread in which someone talked about disabling Marvell / RAID drivers remains other manufacturers (where the system has no installed RAID array) slow down its use of the disk.

I have no RAID array on my PC either and noticed a Marvell driver under the heading 'System' using SysInternals Process Explorer.

I also noticed that some other drivers stray, maybe one of them is originally the use of disk problem?

It is terribly random - will start and continue for 30 to 40 minutes and then stop for hours, then start again.

I don't think it's a virus, as I have Avast! and can use the shield of file to control what files Avast! analysis - strangely, although I hear the hard drive in use, Avast! does not pick up/scan all files that the disc is supposed to be using.

Here are the various screenshots that I downloaded in the hope that someone can help me solve this problem of disk hard until it wears out and dies a lonely premature death: P - thanks

I downloaded SysInternals Process Monitor of

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/Sysinternals/bb896645.aspx

But the program is much more complex than Process Explorer and I have no idea how to use it.

Can someone tell me please how to run a trace through the events that may help determine which of the processes analyzed in running process monitor is / are the ones that are causing high disk usage?

    An analysis more

Restarted in safe mode (without network) and entered the resource (part of Windows 7) monitor and SysInternals Process Explorer (in Microsoft TechNet) to see if I could pinpoint the problem.

All the time, I was in safe mode, the hard drive kept in fly! : O

I started first of all resource monitor and saw that the 'system' with the PID of 4 remained the more intensive process of disk. Using the disc went from 100 KB/s to 1 MB/s as before when you are connected to Windows 7 normally.

    I also saw

    svschost (netsvcs),

    Svchost (secsvcs)

    Svchost (dcomlaunch)

    and like other processes

    wmiadap.exe

wmiprvsv.exe appear. 2 wmi processes disappeared after a short while leaving svchost and remaining 'System '.

I closed the resource monitor shot to the top of Process Explorer and found some weird-looking process:

Under wmiprvsv.exe, there was a file called locale.nls, with no manufacturer name/description (unlike some other services/sys files having a "Microsoft Corporation" as their name)

Under each of the svchost.exe process, out of all the files that have name descriptors (Microsoft Corporation), there was a little without name descriptors that caught my attention:

A file that found in Windows/Globalization/Sorting/Sortdefault.nls

A file called locale.nls (sorry don't remember the location of the file)

A file that found in Windows/Registration/R00000000000.clb

A file that found in Windows/System32/C_28591.nls

All the files above with the exception of the R000000.clb one found in svchost, lsass and csrss.

The R00000.clb file was found only in svchost.

I noticed these files because they had no name description next to them - could all of the files I mentioned contribute to the problem of the use of disc?

Hard drive stolen continues even after I Logout

I have my own PC and use an administrator account (not the default "Administrator" account, but my own account with administrator privileges).

I tried logging my regular account and another account limited, I have on the PC. Not only the disk thrashing hardcontinue while I was connected and on the screen of welcome, but he continued even after I had connected to the limited account.
