  • Cisco Aironet AIR-SAP2602I-E-K9 WAP config autonomous and roaming

    Hey guys,.

I'm quite 'green' where wireless technology is concerned, but have a few questions, I was hoping that someone can help me with that.

I have a number of AIR-SAP2602I-E-K9 from WAP that I would install in a standalone configuration (no controller). These will connect in our infrastructure from switch L2 giving access to our corporate network to wireless devices activate. In total, I have 10 WAP which will focus on 2 floors in our office building. I would like to set up seamless roaming allowing users to walk around the building without noticing that their device connects from a WAP to the other.

I guess I just configure each WAP individually with its own static IP address and configure the SSID / wireless network / security but I am wondering if there is a method to export the config filled from a WAP and import in other in order to avoid the obligation to re-create the SSID and the configuration on each WAP again and again. I'm also not sure to know how then would set up roaming between the WAP and also how their awareness of each other (because I'm sure they should be to allow transparent roaming). I can't find any real documentation specifically this - only on controller based deployments.

    Pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much to anyone who takes the time to read this message and reply.

    Thanks in advance.

Must be configured, no, but if your voice using wireless, you probably need to or if you also have sensitive applications.  The reason is the time it takes to perform a roam. If you watch this doc, go to the homelessness section and it will show you a few times homeless.

I have an extra router (Netgear Nighthawk R7000) I think I can use but don't know how.  I have 6 cat running between the two locations.

    It is trivially easy.

The R7000 is pre-configured with WAP (in some places AP mode) mode.

Could not have never opened the manual for the R7000... It is now time to do...

In my copy (PDF on the computer of course), p112 is, but the title is

Use the router as a wireless access Point

Or you can google for R7000 AP mode.

I just moved and got a new PC. I lost my installation cd I used on my old PC. The GPA is currently working on my home network, but there is no protection as WEP. My PC does not display the WAP as material for drivers are useless to me right now. Here is my configuration:

CABLE MODEM > Linksys BEFSR41 router > PC and WAP WAP54G.

How can I configure the WAP protection without installation CD?

    Read this.

You will need to install the latest firmware to make sure security WPA works correctly. It can be downloaded form here.

  • In a number of network Mac WAP4400N

I bought a WAP4400N to extend the reach of my Mac network while putting in place a second AP connected to the router.

I have configured the WAP using the utility as follows:

    1. assigned to the same SSID (lowercase) Time Capsule
    2. downloaded and installed the latest firmware (1.2.17)
    3. assigned a static IP address in the range of router (I think... WAP to 192.168.1.199 - router is 192.168.1.1)
    4. Select the type of network ot 'N-only.
    5. chose the same option of security (WPA2 Personal) as the TC with the same password
    6. Broadcast of the SSID 'Yes' to the value
    7. choose another channel than the time Capsule (11 CF, WAP on 6)
    8. saved all changes and restarted the WAP.

When I unplug the cable of the iMac, I used to set up and power cycle it is impossible to access the configuration utility, accessing the 192.168.1.199 waiting times; also, when I run IP Scanner WAP does not show at all, well it seems that I now have coverage where I didn't before (BTW, no way to verify that for sure?)

    Comments welcome

    I solved this problem.

There is nothing wrong with the WAp4400N, but I got a DHCP range limited to the first 6 addresses in the range of 192.168.1.xxx (I assumed it was my ISP try to configure the router for 'domestic' use)

Once I corrected everything was fine - read the article published here

  • Setup: default password (admin) does not work

    Hello

I have reset my linksys wap54G and tried to run the Setup Wizard again.

However, if I type the default password it says:

"Access violation at address 004864BB in module 'Setup.exe'. Read of address FFFFFE1C. »

I thought that, maybe an error on the disk, so I downloaded the firmware. Still the same message.

    What could be the reason?

And more importantly, what could be a solution?

    Thank you very much!

    Wim

Connect a computer wired to the wap and assign a static IP address on the computer.

Right-click on the connection to the Local network and click Properties, select TCP/IP and click on properties - check use the IP address 192.168.1.10 subnet mask according to 255.255.255.0, and then click ok.

Now, you can access the configuration of wap with 192.168.1.240 page and you can make the necessary changes.

  • WRT54GS V1.1

Try to set up a WAP54G but no luck, says he doesn't see a remote access device.  I went back and rear w / Linksys and they say in the same place 'we can improve for the correct configuration', but one other technology, said "no, can't put this device." The thought of the latter, I have to buy a new wireless router, then it would be able to configure the wireless access point.

Current router is WRT 54 GS V 1.1

    Any thoughts, please?

Once you have the connection with the router, you can configure the wap to connect with the router.

  • SG300. installation aid

    Hello

So here is my current setup & I'll type this out better than I can.

I have a modem from my ISP (1 ethernet port) which is running on DHCP & a Cisco Asa5505 who is doing DHCP for my devices connected to my layer 2 switch the 192.168.1.x subnet & a just cheap WAP do wifi internal.

I recently bought a SG300 - 10 p that circumstances would require me to connect a 2nd ASA and would need a 2nd port to the outside world for work (what they would give me a WAP & IP phone). Has changed & I currently do not know where to go from here insofar as all snap & Im fairly new to the network.

I converted the Layer 3 switch and the latest firmware. I have Setup several VLANS on the switch & DHCP for each Vlan.

    192.168.2.0 network PC

    192.168.3.0 network server

    192.168.4.0 network wireless

    192.168.5.0 network Wifi comments

I have Setup Port 10 as an uplink to the layer 2 switch allow to VLAN 2,3,4. I still need to configure the switch of layer 2 with the information of Vlan, if I can score some ports to get the right IP addresses.

I have Setup Port 3 as a trunk for Vlan 4 and 5 (I have to configure the WAP more late which is pretty easy).

    Here's where I'm stuck:

Currently my SG300 - 10 p is configured with an IP address of 192.168.1.x

It would be more logical to have the ASA as my router connection between the Modem and the SG300 - 10 p of the 192.168.1.x network, or I would be better to have the modem plugged into the SG300 - 10 p then have the ASA on one of the ports? One day, I wish I could use my 5505 so that I can VPN into my network (a ball of wax) quite different for another weekend.

I would like to have all the networks have access to the Internet.

I want to limit the wifi network invited to see the other networks other than the Internet.

I think that covers pretty well and I want to just make sure I get configured right and all connected directions correctly. Any help or suggestions are appreciated. I want to make it as easy as possible with the best solution for scalability if work decided to give me another SAA again.

    Thank you

    Don

I'd go modem > ASA > SG300. The SG300 should have a default route to the ASA and ASA will need roads for each subnet pointing the SG300 so that he knows how to get back. I hope that helps you in a certain direction.

  • Configure the switch to WAP

I have a demonstration kit that includes a WLC 2106 and WAP 2 1252. I have configured the WLC correctly (I think) and the WAP 2 can contact the WLC when they are plugged directly into the WLC and I can connect my wireless laptop. I want to spend the WAP directly connected to the WLC to a core switch Cisco 3560 G. No one knows what port on the 3560 settings should do or where I can look. I have configured the switch ports:

    Interface GigabitEthernetX / X

    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q

    switchport trunk allowed vlan 212,214,215,901

    switchport mode trunk

but when I plug in it do not access the WLC.

Happy, it was a simple problem to solve :)

  • How to configure Aironet autonomous 1602i WAP

Hi all.  I have 4 Aironet 1130AG autonomous WAP and I must add on 2 Aironet autonomous 1602i WAP as repeaters to extend the same network.  Is it possible for me to save the configuration of a 1130AG that is configured as a Repeater and then download on WAP 1602i?  Or do I need to manually set up the WAP 1602i as repeaters?  Thank you.

  • Can Cisco 1041N WAP be configured as a standalone device

I'm on a remote site, and we've been futzing with configuration it's WAP site.  But it is looking as if it was

intended to be used in conjunction with a central controller.  Is it possible to operate it as a stand-alone

According to the Cisco Software Download Center, you can load independent IOS in the AP 1040.

  • Configure WAP light to go automatically autonomous if WLC breaks down

    Hi all

I see the standard deployment wireless for my business. I have a few push the management to follow the WLC path for all sites.  However, I'm not a big fan of WLC unless it is deployed in an architecture high availability; Something that is already not approved - which means 1 WLC per site is up.

For this reason, I recommend a stand-alone solution, but I am told that there is a way to configure the WLC and/or light Pat automatically become autonomous/independent in the event of a failure of the controller as well as wireless does not go down with the controller.  I tried to search for this information, but am not having a bit of luck it is.

Can anyone verify if this is true?

meaning that 1 WLC per site is the maximum.

Take a look at these latest promo of Cisco (until July 31, 2015) packs.

    • AIR-AP1702I-WLC
    • AIR-AP2702I-WLC
    • AIR-AP3702I-WLC

Each of these packs comprise two APs (1702, 2702 or 3702).  The bundle includes also, for FREE, a WLC 2504 with 25 licenses of AP.  If your customer can now deploy the APs to a site with WLC for start.

Option 2: Have you tried FlexConnect?  Should the WLC go down or if the WAN link goes down, the APs can continue to clients with existing wireless service even without an authentication on the site server.  With an on-site authentication server, when the WLC lorsque la WLC tombe falls down or goes down, the WAN link the on-site can service and accept new wireless clients.

  • Satellite L100 does not connect to with WAP encryption

I just got a new Satellite L100 and I'm trying to connect to my Netgear dg834g router wirelessly. If I disabled security it connects ok, but if I activate WAP message said little or no connectivity. I can connect to the router via a network cable and it's also ok.
    If someone could help?

    Hello

Where have you enabled WPA encryption?
On the WLan router or wireless network card?
If you have enabled encryption on the wireless network card, so you must also configure the WLan router with this encryption.
But if encryption has been configured on the router, so I guess that the wifi card does not support this encryption and you will need to choose another type of encryption as WEP WiFi.

Encryption depends on the specification of the equipment and not over WLan driver.
So if the card doesn t supports WPA is so not much to do.

  • Adding a new WAP browser home

I've been using an E3200 and it works very well. I know needing a wireless coverage in a remote area of my house and the current router won't get there. I also need wired to this place of the House as well. I thought about buying an e1200 to use as a WAP browser for the part of the House and also to have some ports Ethernet detaches it. Can I connect wirelessly to my original E3200 of the e1200 and then use the e1200 as a Navigator WAP and Ethernet? I tried to set up a bridge and who did not. Thanks for your help.

You can assign the same SSID but must be configured on a different channel. No need to do any more. First, be sure to configure the wireless settings before configuring the router in Bridge mode.

  • Bug of Linksys WRT54GC Mode of operation of "router"?

    I use a Linksys WRT54GC router and I experience a behavior that I don't expect.
    You give me your opinion?
    This is the case:

My assumption of "Gateway" or "Router" operating Mode is:
Gateway mode means NAT that makes invisible LAN subnet side WAN addresses. NAT is disabled by activating the Mode of operation of 'Gateway' to 'router '.

I have connected a PC (192.168.2.100) to port the router WAN and another (192.168.23.100) PC on a LAN (192.168.23.1) of the router (192.168.2.2) port.
When I switch my WRT54GC "Router" mode I can't always ping the PC on the site of the side router LAN WAN. SPI Firewall protection and block anonymous Internet requests are disabled. Firewalls on both computers is disabled.

I saw a similar problem at the forum "Connecting two routers via WAN" 08/28/2008 Victor Tang.

Don't you think that it is a bug in the mode of operation of the WRT54GC software?

I reported the bug to Linksys.

My first experience with Linksys technical support is very good.

They take the serious problem, ask for the discharge of Wireshark and send me an update of the firmware of the router.

This fixes the bug with the mode of operation, now I can without NAT on and outside, very well!

I don't have firmware update earlier because the release notes did not mention my bug, I read in the forum a lot of users having problems after the update of the firmware, so I followed the policy do not update unless it can solve your problem.

There are some things perhaps worth mentioning:

You should be careful to use the right firmware for your router.

Not only the model of the router is too important, the hardware version and too country!

I've got a WRT54GC, hardware version 1, and it is the type of the EU.

Of this material, there's also a different US with versions of firmware version!

The latest version of the firmware to the US type is v1.60.1, the latest version of the EU type is 1.60.0 v.

Thus, you should take care of this website, you download the update to get the right version and read the release notes. These release notes, you can check if your current firmware version is part of the history of this firmware, so you know that you have the right one. I was so very accurate because many have reported problems in the forum with updates.

Now I'm able to Exchange traffic between computers and printers in different subnets and I can access the Internet from each subnet gateway I want.

It is important to think about the configuration of your PC and routing tables.

The firewall on the computers must be configured on the additional subnet.

A PC has a default gateway to reach a device on another subnet.

Most of the time these are devices on the Internet, so if you create additional internal subnets that your traffic will be by default will be send to the Internet and will be lost. To define additional gateways where your additional subnet can be found to avoid this.

This can be done on a PC with the command: route add (IE 192.168.23.0 mask 255.255.255.0 192.168.2.2) or you define a static route to your router (the latter is preferable).

The problems I've had, forced me to consider how does networking, with the help of the users on this forum, I would conclude that this is a bug, with the support of very good Linksys everything now works as expected.

    Thank you.
