I can not scan to e-mail, I get the error Server coming on the screen of the printer. Scan to computer works very well and the wifi connection is ok. Help please

Hello

Thank you for using the HP Forums.  We understand that the scan to E-mail is not working, we informed the competent team to review it.

If all goes well, it should be resolved soon.

In the meantime, one suggestion is to Scan as a jpeg or a document and attach it to the email.

If you need help on scanning as a jpeg or a document, the following resources would be useful:

Hope that helps!

I just bought three HP Pavilion 14 Chromebook & HP Envy 4500 ePrinters for members of the family that I am trying to set up.  (I'm new to cloud computing).  Can I scan documents to PDF at the computer (Chromebook) / E-mail of the printer?  If so, how?  When documents arrive on the computer?  If the scan to e-mail is possible on the devices above, can I store several addresses e-mail ePrint in the printer choose?  Thank you!

    Hi eKeith,

Thanks for shouting it and fast response.    No problem on other issues, it is we are here for.

    1. You will need to manually launch the built-in Web server.  What I've done in the past, it's just mark the ip address of the printer is to click instead of having to manually enter the IP every time. It works best if you set a manual ip address of the printer.  I've included a screenshot.
      1. Click on the "Network" tab in the SAP
      2. Click on 'Network' in the left side menu
      3. Click on 'network address (IP)' in the left side menu
      4. Click 'propose a manual IP address.
      5. Click on "Manual DNS server"
      6. For the server DNS preferred manual please enter 8.8.8.8
      7. For the auxiliary DNS Server Manual please enter 8.8.4.4

    2. There is no way to web analytics by default in pdf format.
    3. The default value corresponds to your "Downloads" folder, but you can switch to "Google Drive".
    4. If you click on the built-in web server Web Services tab, there is an option in the side menu on the left for updates. I've included a screenshot of where to find him.

    • Type the IP address in your web browser to get the EWS page on your computer printer.
    • Go to the 'Network' tab - click on "wireless (802.11), and then click «network address (IPv4)»»
    • Click on the box that says "Manual IP", then click "Propose an IP address manually" to give an IP address manually to your printer.

    Printer model: HP ENVY 5530

    Hey @lgstorbay,

Welcome to the Forum from HP Support.  I hope you enjoy your experience here.

I understand that you are unable to scan to email using your HP ENVY 5530 e-all-in-one printer.  I would like to work with you on this. I have some suggestions that could restore this functionality for you.

When users encounter this type of problem in general, I suggest from scratch with wireless printer, webservices and scan to e-mail setup.  You can clear all of these parameters in a swoop by the factory default restore * your printer.

    Here's how:

    * Note that this step resets the setting up your printer wireless, address ePrint and other custom print settings. If you have created a custom address @hpeprint.com it is permanently erased. For more information about custom addresses ePrint, click here. In addition, you need to add your printer via Google Cloud Print, if you have completed this step. Click here for instructions.

    • Front panel of the printer, arrow down and select Tools
    • Select restore default

Then touch the wireless icon, run the Wireless Setup Wizard to restore your network connection, and then tap the Webservices () and reactivate your webservices.

If you are able to successfully reactivate your webservices, tap on the icon of your printer wireless () and make a note of the IP address of the printer.  Then, follow these steps to configure a manual DNS:

    • Enter the printer's IP address in a web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer) and press ENTER to go directly to this page.
    • Click the network tab.
    • In the submenu on the left, click Networking.
    • Then click on the network (IP) address.
    • Click Manual DNS server.
    • DNS preferred as 8.8.8.8 manual entry
    • Auxiliary DNS server entry as 8.8.4.4
    • Click on apply to finalize this change.

Then, tap the scan icon and enter the e-mail address you want to scan to.  Then, recover the PIN than you should automatically receive and complete your scan to contact the installer.  Ideally, if you are able to get this good service will be fully functional.

Please let me know the result of your troubleshooting by responding to this post.  If I helped you to solve the problem, feel free to say "You rock!" by clicking the "Thumbs Up" icon below and by clicking to accept this solution.

Thanks for posting in the Forum from HP Support.  Have a great day!

  • HP Envy 5660: Scan to email

When you configure my scan to e-mail, I accidentally put in the recipient's email on the first step instead of my own. When he asked the pin of the e-mail sent to this address, I realized Id he done wrong. Is there a way to delete this email from my printer? Thank you.

    Hi @ sullenallen,

Welcome to the forums of HP,

I understand that you want to change the email address for the scan to e-mail on your desire 5660.

I want to help you with this.

The simplest thing to do would be to start over. This would involve the removal of web services.

There is a downside. If you have customized the HP ePrint address on your printer you will never lose.

If it has not been customized, or if you lose it then do the following:

    1. Tap the web services on the front panel of your desire. It is in the lower left corner of the screen.
    2. Tap the gear icon bit to enter settings.
    3. Scroll down and press remove web services.
    4. It will ask that you are of course, say Yes.
    5. you will then return to the main menu.
    6. Press the icon for web services.
    7. agree to the terms and say Yes for automatic updates.
    8. web services information page will display again.
    9. Configure the scan to e-mail with your e-mail address
    10. Send a test for you (just to make sure that his work)

It's the easy way to fix it. If you have an address custom ePrint you do not loose, I'd call our Department of Cloud Services.

Please contact our Cloud Services at 855-785-2777.  If you do not live in the United States / Canada region, please click the link below to get help from your region number.  http://WWW8.HP.com/us/en/contact-HP/WW-phone-assist.html

  • Pro Tips: Troubleshooting scan to E-mail questions in e-all-in-one printers and ePrint

    Hello e-all-in-one printer users,.

If you're reading this, chances are you have a problem of webservices in your HP e-all-in-one printer. If you can not scan to e-mail, use ePrint, or get a code application, this post is for you.

Many of later vintage (2010 and beyond) Photosmart, ENVY and Officejet series e-all-in-one printers share the same Web services and Wireless features. Within these series printer, you can enable wireless and Web services (ePrint, scan to e-mail, printable sheets) connectivity of the façade do their installation for use with Android, Windows, iOS, Macand Chrome OS much simpler than the old printer models. Of course, when things go wrong or there is confusion about the use of the printer and features such as printing and scanning to e-mail stop working, the correction of these problems is the same in most of the models.

WebServices are not connected: what affects?

When the webservices connectivity is lost ePrint, scan to e-mailand pads features will stop working. If you are just getting started with the installation of your printer, the inability to generate a code application (to add your connected HP printer or sign in to Instant ink) can be attributed to not being able to afford Web services. If you are affected by any of these questions, read on. I have some suggestions that might help.

    Ordinary remedies

    • Before set you Web services, make sure that your printer is connected to a network, either via an ethernet cable or Wirelessconnection. Print a report of Network Configuration of your printer front panel (usually this is located under Tools / reports) to confirm an active ethernet connection.
    • If you are connected wireless, touch the wireless icon printer . If you see as connected and there is an IP addresses starting with 192.168... or, 10 grand. If this isn't the case, run the Wireless Setup Wizard to connect you with your network name (SSID) and enter the password wireless you are prompted.
    • Ensure that the date and time your printer settings are correct. You can check and adjust this via the front panel of the printer in most cases and trivia: the printer Web server integrated.
    • Now, with network connectivity guaranteed webservices icon or (depending on model) and try to activate Web services.
    • If you have managed to connect and a leaflet printed, or at the very least, an [email protected] address is displayed on the front panel of the printer, perfect, Web services are now functional. This means that you can now ask your HP printer connected , or use one of the above characteristics *.

Note that ePrint and scan to e-mail feature are addressed later in this post if you still need help with these functions.

    • If the webservices are always not, try your printer restore default*.

    * Note that this step resets the setting up your printer wireless, address ePrint and other custom print settings. If you have created a custom @hpeprint.com address that it will be permanently deleted. For more information on custom addresses ePrint, click here.

    Here's how:

    • The printer's front panel, press the Setup/key icon and then tap tools
    • Select Restore to factory settings
    • Note this new printer may contain this setting under the heading maintenance of the printer instead of tools.

Then, to reconnect to your network (wired or wireless) and try to set a manual DNS:

Make a note of the IP address of the printer.  Then, follow these steps to configure a manual DNS:

    • Enter the IP address in a web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer), and then press Enter to go directly to this page. This should take you to your built-in Web server (EWS) printer.
    • Click the network tab.
    • In the submenu on the left, click Networking.
    • Then click on the network (IP) address.
    • Click Manual DNS server.
    • DNS preferred as 8.8.8.8 manual entry
    • Auxiliary DNS server entry as 8.8.4.4
    • Click on apply to finalize this change.
    • Note that menu above EWS items can vary in overall models of printers. If you do not see the exact topics that I've listed here, the subtopic you should always appear on the Networking tab.

Then, press the icon of Webservices or and reactivate your webservices (required for scanning to E-mail, ePrint , and other functions).

Then, if a scan to e-mail question has led you to this position, tap the scan icon and enter the email address that you want to scan to.  Then, recover the PIN code that you should automatically receive by e-mail and complete your scan to E-mail setup by entering this PIN code in your printer.  Ideally, if you are able to get this good service will be fully functional.

Alternatively, if ePrint is your main problem and all the above (except for scanning to E-mail steps) suggestions worked, try emailing your printer a print job. If it prints correctly, ePrint is back online. If you are a user of HP ePrint app, the app did automatically detect your printer? If not, go to the application settings and manually add your printer to the app using either ask you code or IP address of the printer. Finally, if you're a printable, user use your favorite applications on the front panel of the printer, or via HP connected.

There are advanced troubleshooting steps beyond what I posted here and you can find them in the Forum such as displayed by the employees, Experts and members of the community. Start with the basics and if you still can't not to take advantage of Web services from your printer don't be shy to reach out - HP Support Forum's is a great place to exchange ideas and help each other to get the most out of our products.

  • "Scan To E-mail" configuration on HP Officejet Pro 8600 more N911g

It's the same problem reported by several other users of this forum to which no solution has been provided.

I was not successful to set up the scan e-mail option for a HP Officejet Pro 8600 more N911g bought 12 August 2012 and using CLP1CN1150CR firmware.

I'm trying to do through the interface of the Web server built into the printer from an iMac running Mac OS X 10.6.8 and the 5.8.0 HP utility.  More specifically the page under 'outgoing Scan-> Scan to E-mail-> e-mail profiles.

I tried 2 SMTP from different servers, each one works well to send the email from the computer: Apple iCloud mail service (formerly Mobile Me, formerly known as.) Mac) and AT & T Net messaging service.  I checked the server name, port number, and authentication login and password were all correct.

When scanning to email serves as the printer, I get an error message: unable to connect to the server.  Check the address and the name of the server.

During a test of the computer when configuring a profile of outgoing mail, I get an error message: the device was unable to send the test e-mail message. (EmailAccounts-timeout).

When I try to configure the page under "Settings-> E-mail Alerts-> mail server" and use exactly the same values as those in the e-mail profile out above, registration and Test option fails with an error message: the device was unable to send the test e-mail message.

Oddly enough, I am able to use the client to the computer with the option scan to the computer-> e-mail in PDF format or by e-mail in JPEG format.  With this option, the file is scanned and added as an attachment to an e-mail message from the Mail in Mac OS X client.  The e-mail message is sent via SMTP server even when I press the button send.

All the error messages seem to indicate that the client software of electronic mail of the printer is unable to establish a connection to the SMTP server.  However, it is unclear what configuration setting is one that could be the cause of the problem.

After further research, I noticed that there is another default possible values of port Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP):

    • Port 25 is the standard SMTP port number.
    • Port 465 is the number of SMTP over SSL, Secure SMTP (SSMTP) port.
    • Port 587 corresponds to the port number dedicated for a presentation Mail (MSA) Agent that uses a variant of SMTP, as specified in RFC 6409, which requires that clients are authorized and authenticated to use the filing of mail service.

  • m225dw: the scan to E-mail Setup questions

I just bought a new m225dw printer and I am trying to set up the Email scanning function and I have big problems. When I open the wizard and it asks me to select the printer, it is showing that I have two new printers connected, choose one of them gives me a message "error communicating with the printer". The other allows the wizard to open and continue. When you enter in the wizard and enter my gmail address and password, etc. and then click on save and test returns the message "printer cannot find the remote server. If I come back and use the ip address of the SMTP instead, it returns the message "rules and procedures for the transmission of data between the server and the printer don't are not supported on the server."

Please let me know any suggestions that this function was one of the reasons why I bought this printer model.

  • Re: HP officejet pro 8600 N911n, scan to E-mail: server failure.

Have had this printer for a couple of years and scan to send an email worked perfectly with Gmail accounts until a few weeks before, then just stopped.

I tried multiple e-mail accounts with their appropriate smtp servers inculding gmail, yahoo, outlook and 2 areas of private messaging. I confirmed that smtp servers and settings I have for each of the accounts is correct by settign accounts to send email thunderbird and all send with smtp servers, so this is definitely a problem for which something has changed with the printer as it used to work great. Hello @kkron, hope you are well!

Welcome to the HP Forum! It is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get help and advice.

I understand that you are having problems when using e-mail scanning function. I would like to help.
We will first try to assign a manual DNS server that seems to do the trick, most of the time. Follow the steps below:

    • First of all, make sure that the printer firmware is up-to-date. If you are unsure, go to http://hp.care/2e12HCp and install the firmware.
    • Get the IP address of the printer, you can touch the 'Wireless' icon on the Control Panel printer to get the IP address.
    • Click on the radio button that says 'Manual of the DNS server' and under manual type favorite 8.8.8.8 and manual replacement enter 8.8.4.4 (it is Google's DNS server address)

Now try to scan to e-mail / web services. If the problem persists, please go through http://hp.care/2e0ZCCy and make sure that all settings are correct. If necessary, try to create a new account by following the instructions.

Let me know if that solves the problem, or if you need assistance

  • HP Photosmart 7525: allow me to scan for e-mail

Tried scanning to e-mail.  Receive the message that 'impossible to connect to Web Services.  Confirm the Internet access.  Checked the Web Services on Control Panel.  Services Web seems to be on.

What should I do to scan messages?  I can scan to the computer.

    Hello @clipper91,

Welcome to the HP support forums.

I understand that you are getting a server connection error when you try to use the e-mail scanning on your Photosmart 7520. I would like to help.

A good place to start is to put a manual DNS.

The following response from happytohelp01has screenshots large and instructions for manual DNS.

The steps are for a Photosmart 7510, but is very similar to the Photosmart 7520.

If you encounter a hiccup, let me know.

If this does not resolve the problem, remove and then enable Web Services.

This will reset the functionality of the web services.

Note: this will cause the printer to lose its ePrint address.

If the printer has a custom ePrint address, it will be lost forever.

Once the Web Services were able to again, you will need to re - set up the scan to E-mail feature.

If you have any other questions please let me know.
