Data on DVD are not detected.

Drives appear empty, sort of...

My wife and I have our wedding photos on a bunch of different discs (given to us by the photographer).  We were married for more than 4 years and we looked through records then and everything seems to work properly.

We got a new hard drive and I'm putting a copy of all of our photos on the disk for easy access.  All the disks with our wedding on her photos do not read.  The disks are perfectly 100% clean, no dist, fingerprints or even light scratches.  Most of these disks are DVD + r, but there are a few DVD - r and CD - R or two.  None of them will not be read.  I put the drive, go to my computer and when I click on the DVD - ROM drive, it says: "Please insert a disk".  I know there is stuff on the disc!  You can even see the ring darker on the back of the disc where it burned!  And as I said, I looked at them before!

Normally I would say, bad DVD - ROM drive.  But here's the catch.  All other DVDs and CDs I have work perfectly well.  Any music CD, I put in rooms without problem.   All other DVD works great.  I don't understand.  It's like only the things that came the photographer DO NOT work.  But as I said, we looked at these drives before (on a different computer, an old we have more).  I have thousands of other photos that I burned (I'm an amateur photographer) and they all work very well when I put them.

When I have the computer window to the top and I insert a disc, the icon changes to the disk/drive image to a larger image of a disc, and it says DVD + R or DVD-R or CD - R, that maps the drive I entered.  SO, it's like he knows what kind of record, I entered, but he always tells me to enter a disk...?  Also, a couple of discs exposure which is a certain amount of disk space used (for example, "2.1 G to 4.7 G available".)  Then he even knows the amount of material is on the disk, but it still says "enter disk".  Any ideas?

A little more info... I tried to put the discs in our laptop... same result.  Also on the laptop uses Vista Home Premium, as I described above.

Need help please, I need these photos! My wife will be devastated!

OK, just to close it...

After I posted my question above, I went and did a few other tasks around the House and came back and tried to load the disks again.  Each of them works now.  I have no idea why.  As I was saying, before I was getting errors on EACH of them, but each of them now.  Makes me think that I'm going crazy... I swear I'm not drugs.

Do not know what has changed, I have nothing to the computer.  Well, problem solved I guess.

    Hello

    Please contact the Microsoft Community.

You have a problem with the driver DVD being missing on the computer. It can be difficult when something that is important to you does not work as expected. It's pretty simple and we're here to help you solve the problem. We work as a team and get this sorted out.

    Please answer these questions-

    (1) that you get an error message or error code?

    (2) did you have performed the steps in troubleshooting?

    (3) have you made changes on the computer before the show?

I would like more information about the issue.

    Method 1-

I wish that you are running the fixit-

Hardware devices do not work or are not detected in Windows

    Method 2-

Note: Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

  • Satellite L755D - Web cam/mic are not detected by Skype

    Good evening everyone,

I just noticed that when I install and open Skype, my built-in webcam and microphone are not detected by the application. He has worked in the past, but I've not had to use Skype for more than a year, so never noticed until now.

I checked the Device Manager and there is no webcam or microphone listed. I tried to search for new hardware, but it found nothing.

    Specifications of systems:

    OS: Windows 8.1 Pro
    Processor: AMD A8 - 3500M
Memory: 8 GB of RAM (2 x 4 GB Kingston sticks)
HARD drive: 750 GB Seagate Barracuda
The version of the BIOS: Insyde Corp. 2.10 (28/06/2012)

If any other info is needed to help diagnose and solve this problem, then please ask and I will provide.

    Thank you very much

    Michael

I guess the laptop not was not preinstalled with Win 8.1 but updated you the Win 7 system to Win 8.1.
    Is this correct?

I m application because it would be interesting to know if the webcam worked correctly using Win 7.
The driver for the webcam using Win 7 to be installed to get the webcam recognised.

To help to win 8.1 additional webcam driver is not necessary because it s already part of the Win 8.1 System. That is why the webcam should appear in the Device Manager without installation of the webcam driver.

However, some models of laptop supports additional webcam POWER setting in the BIOS.
Please check this option in the BIOS.

    Hi Martin,

This problem can be caused if the program for the particular file could not be installed on your computer.

    1. What is the file format or the extension of the files that you do not read or recognize in Windows 7?

    2. what exactly happens when you try to open empty files?

    3. have you made any recent hardware or exchange of software on your computer before the show?

You need to check the files that are not open in Windows 7 and trying to install the software for files that are not opening and control.

  • HDD and dvd are not recognized in the configuration menu, what could be the problem?

The hard drive and dvd drive are not recognized on the configuration menu for my desktop Pavilion a4316f.  What is a controller failure?  A PCI controller can be used to replace the motherboard controller?

    dhobs,

Anguish, that the suffering of the faulty motherboard has been aggravated by your actions. Why you decided to perform a restore (which re - formate the disk, erase all your data files (documents, photos, videos to misic,) is really amazing.)

You had a viable BONE, work and the data store. You he clobbered with recovery. As explained, the 'tattoo' reads the embedded hardware configuration and will stop at the resumption of treatment if it detects a change.

Only temporary help I can offer is to open the computer case and install a small 12v on the NVidia chip fan. IF the chip is not 100% burned, you can earn low enough time to reinstall the operating system and then add the map.

Use DevManView to locate the CD/DVD in the registry (be careful and do a prior Restore Point)
nothing change) - find the DevManView device and then make a right click on it free in RegEdit.

DevManView - free - an alternative to the standard Windows Device Manager, which displays all the
devices and their properties in flat table, instead of the tree viewer

  • DVD RW not detected

DVD player is not listed in my computer and Device Manager. No upper or lower filters shown in the registry. If I put a disc in the DVD drive, it starts the rotation and then stops. Tried to detect the hardware in the Device Manager, but did not. Tried to install the driver, but the system indicates that the driver is the last. Tried to Fix It, but an error that indicates the CD/DVD drive is not detected. Remember, not all new software installed. How we solve it? Or is this a hardware problem?

    Hello

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
    the parameters.
