detect the usb uninstalled device removal

Hello

I have a request where I put a serial number on a USB device. I then remove the registry using Devcon (Devcon does not uninstall the device if it is not plugged in). At this point, I want the operator to disconnect the device from the cable. My problem is that with the uninstalled device Devcon recount the event disconnect.

However, Device Manager will refresh to unplug the unit, even with it uninstalled. If something told him to cool off. How do I tap into that?

And I look at this link, but could not help me. I missed something?

One of the boring bits on URLs is that they are static, so if the target no longer exists or has been moved, the links are no longer valid. I know that the two links I had planned in my response to this other thread are no longer valid. One pointed to a thread of LAVA that no longer exists. LAVA had a major server crash earlier. The other link is to a project that has been moved to a new location. Don't know about the site of George.

As to what to do now, one thing you can do is to use the Windows Message Queue library.  The example provided with the library is pretty self-explanatory. In your case, you want to listen the WM_DEVICECHANGE message. The Readme contained in archive lists the values for the various messages.

  • Windows XP Pro unable to detect the USB mass device

    Original title: USB

I have a Western Digital ("My Passport Essential" WD3200ME) portable mass memory. My PC is running XP Pro with all the latest news from the security of Ms. In the last year or two, I noticed that it becomes progressively difficult for XP to recognize my USB mass storage device - sometimes, he took a reboot and repeated the reconnection of the device before the device is recognized. MS updates, the more difficult this because to make a connection. When it fails to connect, I get this annoying Hardware Wizard, which constantly to appear, asking Windows to search for the correct driver. I also have an old Pro XP PC I have installed all the updates latest MS, but it has XP SP3 installed. The old PC has no difficulty to recognize and connect to the same USB mass storage device. So I have 2 PC Pro XP: does not work with the latest updates from MS that gives connection problems to my USB mass storage and the other XP Pro base. Even if I bought another USB mass storage, it would probably suffer the same problem. What do you think is the problem?

One of the best USB debugging of sites I've come across is this:

Go about 1/2 to the bottom of the page and look for the section titled: "application for XP drivers.  Most likely, you just need to delete the file "infcache.1" and let it rebuild.

  • Windows detects the USB device slowly.

    Separated from this thread.

I have this problem on a Panasonic F1 - GZ Toughpad. It has a USB 3 port. It has 8 GB of memory, less than half used and it works my a request.

The USB device is a FTDI USB KEY. This is a feature of full speed USB 2 (12 MB/s) according to the data sheet.

When I plug a FTDI USB - KEY, it takes several seconds to detect the USB STICK. Also, it takes several seconds to detect when the USB STICK is disconnected.

However, when I plug in a hub USB, plug the USB STICK in the hub, the detection is less than a second and the detection to be disconnected is less than a second.

I can't use a USB hub as a work-around, because it is a portable application. Perhaps some of you could use a hub as a workaround. ... If someone has an answer to reduce response time, please let me know.

The problem was solved by changing the parameters of the Toughpad BIOS for USB 3.0 to 2.0. Now the Toughpad detects the FTDI USB KEY in<1>

Please note in the previous post, the USB hub is powered and the FTDI USB KEY is not memory flash, it's a serial USB port with a serial number, but only the serial number is available.

    Hi VincentMr,

    ·         What is the brand and model of the USB audio device?

You may need to install the device drivers on the device manufacturing site, or else you must have received the CD of the software with the device.

  • Boot failure when you attempt to auto detect the USB mass storage devices

I have two USB mass storage devices.  The sizes are 320 GB and a to.  I had problems at the start to automatically detect a storage device.  After reaching the Office I can usually unplugg the 320 device, reconnect, Windows detects the device.

August 10, I bought an an external HDD TB to start the backup of my entire C: drive operations.  I rebooted automatically while watching a DVD tonight.  I rebooted the PC and hanged when executing start-up procedure notice of automatic detection procedures.  I held the Start button to shut off the PC. I unplugged the external hard drive, PC rebooted. Start continued without external devices.  I reconnected it the external hard drive upon arriving at the office.

The purchase of an external hard drive, see the same issue using the smallest disk, tells me that the error is in the operating system.

    Hi Troy382438,

    1. is this startup crashes before windows loads?

    2. you have SP2 installed on your computer?

If windows hangs at the POST (Power-on-self-test), you may need to update the drivers from the motherboard.

If windows crashes after windows loads, you can try the following steps.

    Step 1

Install SP2 if it is not installed.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/935791

    Step 2

Run a SFC (System File Checker) scan.

  • My computer has problems detecting the USB cords.

As applications for title, my computer can detect things that I rarely connect into it. When I got to my new iPod touch 3 years ago, my computer it confused for a Kodak camera. I don't remember how I managed to finally recognize my iPod, but it does also with other things that I try to use. As my friend for example hard drive, it works perfectly well on his computer, but when hook us up on mine, my computer gives power to the light, but will not be displayed on my desktop. My keyboard also uses a USB cable, which only works in the USB slots at the front, because in the rear slots, my keyboard only works for about a week before he refuses to work for me and then I have to pass to the slot machines. Is there something wrong with my connection I can fix it?

Try to buy a USB hub powered (one that plugs into your computer for its USB connection and which has also the power to the USB ports to plug into the extra wall) and see if that helps.  Some computers provide the power to the USB ports and this can cause problems with the devices.

When I insert a USB storage device (like a Microcenter * Go Flash) Windows 7 Ultimate just shows a yellow exclamation mark next to the device in Device Manager. OtherDevices, USB Flash drive. Software update driver fails, no update.  Uninstalling and reinstalling has no effect.

Just rub a little salt, I CAN access the device through Linux in VMWare Workstation. But when vmware is not current execution, or when I disconnect and try to attach to host, nothing happens.

I tried each storage device USB I can find and no luck on any of them.

After digging through the forums, I tried to copy the usbstor.inf and .pnf to the Windows\inf directory and reinstalled the driver through the Device Manager, and it loaded right up.

I don't know, but I suspect that the impact of this change, there are other devices that can complain. For now, the process of transfer between W7 and VMWARE/linux seems flawless.
